Still needs improvement. (Version was REJECTED) V 0.5----11/15/05----Well, my first version was rejected, so now I added "What you can do with" and a "Why make this" and "Plant Reappearance Times" and a "What all the Wild Plants look like" sections. Also, fixed up the Royal Fern above, but it still doesn't look right. (Version was REJECTED) V 0.7----11/16/05----Last version rejected. I now added a vocabulary note, and changed around my E-mail address so less people send useless spam. NEW SECTIONS: "What you can contribute" and "Mushrooms". Fixed a few spelling errors. Redid the quick search system. TRIED BUT FAILED to make the fern look better. (Version was REJECTED) V 0.9----01/03/06----Yeah! It's the New Year. I kind of gave up on getting this guide onto game FAQs, but after a vacation, I got some great ideas. I added an "In-Game Plant Descriptions" section, a "Hybridization with Wild Plants" section, and a "Wild Plant Gift Ideas" Section. I updated the quick search system (again), and added in a few more notes. Also, I may not make many more updates, because I've gotten into FoMT now and I can't stop playing it! (Version was finally ACCEPTED!) V 1.0----01/04/06----FINALLY! I've been accepted. This is a mini update with minor changes. Neoseeker is now allowed to use my Guide. A few minor changes to the Legal Information Section. V 1.1----01/13/06----Oh no! It's Friday the 13th! Oh well, I don't care. So, I added a little 'Wild Plants and your Child' note in the "What you can do with the wild plants" section, added a new credit, and changed a little info on my E-mail address. Oh, and put Bracken into the Mushrooms section. V 1.3----02/13/06----Oh no! It's Monday the 13th! Well, it's just cool that it's been a month EXACTLY since the last update. I have now completely re-vamped the Quick Search system. Added a "Possible Future Updates" section (which I'm going to really try hard at doing), changed a little wording around here and there, added a "My Other Guides" section (It's super short, literally), and added a "The End" section, because I didn't really like the way my guide ended. I hope to add a 'Cooking With Wild Plants' section soon, and I'm planning on making a whole new 'Girl's Wild Plant Guide'. V 1.5----02/14/06----I've been working really hard since yesterday, and I've got one of my Possible Future Updates off the list. There is now an all new "Cooking with Wild Plants" Section. I changed around a few sentences, added and took away spaces where I wanted them, fixed a few typos, and added a new Credit. I changed an old credit because, well, I accidentally wrote the name wrong, but it's correct now! I also dedicated the guide to a good friend of mine. I also added a tiny copyright line. This might be my last major update for a long time. V 1.51----02/15/06----Mini-update. www.supercheats.com is now allowed to use my guide. That's it. V 1.6----02/17/06----I have just spell-checked the entire guide. I fixed all of the typos and misspelled words. I also changed around a few words that I thought should be different, and capitalized a few things too. A few spaces added where needed. A pretty small update. V 1.7----02/25/06----New question in the FAQ section! I changed a few more words around, added a few little things here and there, and tried to make some things easier to read. I think I have perfected my guide (as well as I can, with school and homework and all). I don't think too many updates are going to come from now on, but I hope to release a new guide soon when I'm done typing it :) ! V 1.9----02/26/06----YEAH! I have now tried to re-make my guide as much as possible so it works for the Girl's version of the game. I had to re-type some information, add a few new things, and tweak old things. I am still missing much of the new Girl's Information, so please send in some if you have any. I hope I can make a whole new guide from it. V 1.95----02/27/06----Tiny update. Changed dedication, changed a little credit, replaced an old "Possible Future Update", and added a few more notes around about the Boys and Girl's version differences. I also found a silly little mistake. Also, YAY! I got the guide accepted on my first try. V 2.0----03/12/06----WOOHOO! I finally replaced the awful picture of a Royal Fern with something new that I've been working on! I stuffed the old Royal Fern Picture into a new art section for those (very few) people who would like to see it. I also pulled another possible future update from the list, becuase I finally did it. YAY! Oh, and a new credit, along with one entire section finally re-written with info from the girl's version of the game. V 2.05----03/20/06----My birthday is coming up! To celebrate, I've renamed the "Wild Plant Gift Ideas" section to "Wild Plants as Gifts". I've also re-typed some of the wording, and I added Mukumuku to the list. ENJOY! Other minor changes too. V 2.1----04/09/06----Lots of help from contributors to the guide made this version possible. Thank you Panzer for some missing info, Thank you Katy8 for a new Fact in the FAQ section, and Thank you Adam Heslop for confirming the growth spot of Bracken. I also added a few tiny things of my own here and there. V 2.15----07/04/06----Hey it's the 4th of July! Anyway, I fixed a somewhat large typo thanks to Obi-Wan Kenobi (a contributor), in the credits put as "Great Wall". I'm currently typing a new guide, and I hope I can get it accepted. V 2.2----07/19/06----A few minor changes, a new plant regrowth location, a few fixed typos and a few things added. Most of this thanks to a contributor by the name of CC. They seemed to read EVERYTHING very closely, and they were able to pinpoint a bunch of stuff. Also, thanks to everyone who's read the guide and contributed, it's all much appreciated! V 2.21----07/25/06----VERY TINY UPDATE! I Just finished a FoMT Wild Plant Guide, so I had to adjust a few things in this guide. V 2.3----02/25/07----Probably my last update, or one of my last. I got a whole bunch of random data from contributors, so I had to add it in. A few minor changes to legal info, since it's the year 2007. That is all. V 2.31----04/17/07----New guide to other guide list. Minor Changes. New pictures in Art Gallery. The End. V 2.4----01/12/09----God Dangit. It has nearly been 2 years. 635 days to be exact. I would have completely forgotten about these guides if it wasn't for the 30 or so e-mails I received in the time since I last updated it. I finally decided to come back and update all of the information I've received. There are actually quite a few little new things! I would say I'm done with this guide, but knowing you guys, I'll get some new stuff to update this guide with soon enough. I just looked through it and saw lots of things that could use updating too. I might just come back one day and rework this guide, AGAIN! V 2.6----01/31/09----A big update! I would say this is the biggest update since version 1.9! I would hope that this is the final version of this guide, because it really takes up my time to work on these things xP. I have added 3 whole new sections, "Vocabulary", "Flowers" and "Other Wild Forage". I also completely revamped the "Wild Plants as Gifts" section, as well as alphabetized large parts of this guide. I went through the whole guide and rewrote numerous sections which could be shorter or easier to understand. I topped it all off with ANOTHER spell-checking of the guide. I hope this will be my final update xD V 2.7----02/21/09----A fairly good update! This was originally going to be an update to fix a small mistake, but I alphabetized a few more sections, reorganized the whole layout of the guide, combined the old Seasons section and prices section into 1, made the "Wild Plants and your Child" note into its own section, fixed up various layouts, updated the e-mail, legal information, what you can contribute, version history, and possible future updates sections, and gave the whole guide one last spell-check. The guide feels complete to me, and this update gave it a good polishing off! The only reason I have to update now is if someone sends in some information that I need, which is listed in the "What You Can Contribute" section. Please, enjoy the new update everyone! V 2.8----04/17/09----How do I always find more to update? The cooking section is all new. On top of adapting lots of information about crops and rare crops from Supermario1024's guide (as ingredients for recipes), I completely changed the layout to make it much easier to read and use the recipes. Other minor fixes were thrown in, as well. V 2.85----08/10/09----A tiny update. I've changed the gift section a little, changed regrowth to plain old growth, updated the vocab section, and updated the art gallery and "my other guides" section because I miraculously wrote another guide. Growth location of sorrel confirmed. v 3.0----09/08/09----How is it that I've done another update? I don't know! This seems to keep happening. The other day, I picked this game up again. I decided to play through at least the whole first year and collect a bunch of data, and I have. I've finally confirmed ALL of the plant growth times, and I've included some charts to show you what you can find on each day of the year. I fixed a few growth locations, and I've given the whole guide ANOTHER spell check. I'm really hoping this is one of my last updates! I really want this guide to be finished! (Current) v 3.01----01/14/10----A minor 2010 update! I updated the legal info section, and I made a few minor changes to the layout of the guide. FAQ section has a new look! I can't believe that I wrote the original guide in 2005! The old versions were so crappy that I can't even believe they were accepted! Oh well, if they'd never been accepted, then I'd never have been able to bring the guide to its current state, so I guess that's a good thing. Happy 2010! ---------------------------------- Introduction I0002 ---------------------------------- Hello. This is my 2nd try at creating a guide. It's about the Wild Plants of Harvest Moon: AnWL. This guide was originally a Boys version guide, but I changed it one around a little bit to work for the girls version. My sister has the girl's version, so I'm getting most of my data from that. Please, if there is anything different about the wild plants in the girls that isn't in the boys, E-mail me. Also, please E-mail me with any spelling/grammar errors, comments, or suggestions. Okay, enjoy the guide. +Trumpet was accidentally misnamed Matsutake in this game ---------------------------------- Vocabulary V0003 ---------------------------------- I went through my guide and noticed a used a few abbreviations and some internet slang. I decided to include a small vocabulary section for those that need it. 'em = Them (: = A smiley face :) = The same smiley face as above, just reversed :D = A wide-mouthed smiley face AWL = A Wonderful Life (the title of the boy's GC HM game) AnWL = Another Wonderful Life (the title of the girl's GC HM game) FAQ = Frequently Asked Questions FoMT = Friends of Mineral Town (the title of the boy's GBA HM game) Gotta = Got to/Have to GBA = Game Boy Advance GC = GameCube HM = Harvest Moon Hybridization = The act of crossing two species into a single hybrid IMO = In My Opinion intro = Introduction (duh) Kinda = Kind of Lol = Laugh out loud (I use it as a "Haha") mFoMT = More Friends of Mineral Town (the title of the girl's GBA HM game) Mt. Veg = Mountain Vegetable ToT = Tree Of Tranquility (the title of the Harvest Moon game for the Wii) W/ = With xD = My favorite smiley face. X-eyes and laughing xP = My second favorite smiley face. X-eyes and tongue sticking out Tell me if I'm missing anything! ---------------------------------- Why make this guide W0004 ---------------------------------- I made this guide because I thought it would be useful to all those new players out there. I know that if I would have had a guide like this when I just started, I might have benefited from it (i.e. I probably wouldn't have sold every single plant I ever picked up). Anyway, I haven't seen many other guides out there about this topic. ---------------------------------- What you can contribute H0005 ---------------------------------- Please, contribute any information I need or don't have. Please send in questions for the FAQ section, and if you find that anything in this guide is misspelled, please tell me. I don't have much time anymore to play the game to collect data, so please help me out with whatever you can. Also, comments are much appreciated. Check the section below, the Possible Future Updates section, for things you can help me on. Currently, I need someone to help me out by finding these things: -Is Bracken really a mushroom? This can be tested by using it in a recipe that calls for a mushroom ---------------------------------- Possible Future Updates F0006 ---------------------------------- Well, this is the section where I list out some possible future updates for the guide. I'll try to put them in, but I may never be able to put them all in. I could use help with them, and if you have any suggestions for other additions, please send them in. Add: "Wild Plant Recipe Gifts" subsection Add: Cooking Section, ordered by price Complete: This guide (although 100% completion will never happen) ---------------------------------- E-mail Information E0007 ---------------------------------- My E-mail address is: a z a j i c e k @comcast.net (Without the enters. This is for those that REALLY want to contact me) *************************************************************** If you send me an E-mail, please make the title of the E-mail: "Wild Plant Guide AWL" *************************************************************** If you do not title the e-mail this way, it is likely that it will be labeled as junk mail and deleted. Please send in suggestions/comments about my guide (Tips, something I don't have, misspelled words, if the guide is useful, etc.) Please, if you have something to tell me about my guide, send it in. Also, when you send a suggestion or comment in, please include your username, or whatever you want your name to be so you can be included in the credits section. ***PLEASE INCLUDE NAME OR USERNAME FOR CREDITS SECTION*** ___________________________________________________________ What you can do with Wild Plants W0008 ___________________________________________________________ First of all, all the flowers that you pick can be used as gifts. They're one of the easier-to-get gifts. Second, everything can be sold for a 'slight' profit. Third, you can eat all the edible wild plants, although they don't fill you up as much as normal food. Forth, 3 of the flowers can be hybridized with your crops. Finally, a few of the wild plants can be used in some cooking recipes. Also, you can put these plants into your dog's (or cat's) food bowl. I do it all the time! Well, I think that's about everything you can do with the wild plants. Note: For those who were wondering, there are exactly 15 different wild plants to pick. There are 8 different flowers, and 7 different edible plants. There is also the Strange Mushroom you have to eat to enter the Harvest Sprites' house, but that doesn't really count as a wild plant does it? You can't pick it and sell it or do anything with it (except for eating it). ___________________________________________________________ Wild Plants and your Child W0009 ___________________________________________________________ As your son grows up, you can influence him into choosing a particular career. Your choices are: -Artist -Athlete -Musician -Rancher -Scholar ************ -Farmer! ************ By showing him your foraged Mushrooms, Wild Plants, and Flowers, you can influence your son into being a farmer. Showing him things like watering cans, seeds, and hoes also encourages him to become a farmer. If he grows up into a farmer, he will take over your farm when you die. See how useful wild plants are? ___________________________________________________________ The Most Useful Wild Plants (IMO) W0010 ___________________________________________________________ --------------------------------- The top 5 most useful plants are: --------------------------------- Upseed Gemsoil Happy Lamp Mugwort Matsutake Upseed, Gemsoil, and Happy Lamp are probably the most important because they're the only wild plants that can be hybridized with your crops (not your trees). If you hybrid your crop's seed with the Upseed, you will get an S rank seed from that crop. The Gemsoil makes your plant be able to grow in ANY soil fertility, and the Happy Lamp makes your seed grow in ANY possible season. You can use all three on your seed, but that's not what this guide is about. I think the Mugwort is also somewhat useful because it can be used in a few recipes for cooking, and it can be eaten. If you want to know what the recipes are then you should go check the cooking section in this guide. Finally, I believe the Matsutake is also somewhat useful because it's worth a lot (100 G, it's not that much, but it's worth the most compared to the Upseed and Trumpet, tied for #2 with only a measly 25 G). I also think there are a few recipes that call for a mushroom (and a Matsutake is a mushroom!)(By the way, in this game they mislabeled the Trumpet as Matsutake as well. The trumpet is orange, and the real Matsutake is a small brown shriveled mushroom). +Trumpet, the orange mushroom, was accidentally mislabeled as Matsutake in this game, so keep that in mind. I still call it Trumpet. ___________________________________________________________ Wild Plants as Gifts G0011 ___________________________________________________________ This section is all about using wild plants as gifts for towns people. People only seem to like flowers, not other edible forage like Mugwort. By the way, don't use any of those special flowers like Gemsoil, Happy Lamp, or Upseed. Save those for hybridizing your crops. Okay, here is the list of people that like flowery-themed gifts! I split the townspeople and the bachelors. -------------------------------------------- Townspeople Gift(s) -------------------------------------------- Chris All flowers Celia All flowers Cody All flowers Dr. Hardy All flowers Griffin Mist Moon, Trick Blue Kassey All flowers Kate All flowers Lumina All flowers Muffy All flowers Mukumuku All flowers (up to 5 a day) Nami Trick Blue Nina All flowers Patrick All flowers Romana All flowers Ruby All flowers Samantha All flowers Tim All flowers Vesta All flowers -------------------------------------------- Bachelors Gift(s) -------------------------------------------- Gustafa All flowers Marlin N/A Rock Mist Moon, Toy Flower, Fodder ______________________________________________________________ Hybridization with Wild Plants W0012 ______________________________________________________________ When I first heard that you could do hybridization with some of the wild plants, I was thinking about all the "Royal Mugworts" and "BrackenBerries" I was going to make. I was disappointed when I found out what you could actually do. The truth is that you can only use 3 different flowers with hybridizing, and all they do is upgrade your crops. They don't actually make "Upseed Drops" and "Trick Amorous'". Go into Takakura's house and talk to Tartan for the hybridizing (If you don't know about Tartan or how to get him, please refer to another guide on how to get him). ------------------------------------------------------ The 3 different flowers that you can use are: ------------------------------------------------------ -Gemsoil -Happy Lamp -Upseed. If you hybrid your crop with a Gemsoil, a seed will come out that will be able to grow in any soil fertility. If you hybrid your crop with a Happy Lamp, a seed will come out that will be able to grow in any season (This is pretty cool!). If you hybrid your crop with an Upseed, an 'S' (Superior) quality seed will come out (This is my favorite one!). Well, okay. This is the first Harvest Moon game to feature hybridization, by the way. I guess it's kind of cool that you can upgrade your seeds like that. Okay. That's all I have to say on hybridization. ____________________________________________________________ Wild Plant Seasons And Prices W0013 ____________________________________________________________ Spring, Summer, and Winter each have 2 flowers and 1 Edible Plant growing during its season. Fall has 2 flowers and 4 Edible Plants (all 4 are mushrooms). Wild plants can only be sold to Van. You cannot haggle any of the prices. =================== Seasons and Prices: =================== Spring $ _______________________ / | \ |Goddess Drop | 15G | |Mugwort | 15G | |Toy Flower | 10G | \______________|________/ Summer $ _______________________ / | \ |Happy Lamp | 15G | |Mist Moon | 10G | |Royal Fern | 15G | \______________|________/ Fall $ _______________________ / | \ |Bracken | 15G | |Gemsoil | 20G | |Hackberry | 20G | |Matsutake | 100G | |Trick Blue | 10G | |Trumpet | 25G | |
