If you have a speedy person like yoshi, this will work best. If you are on first, you can get to second, and if your on second you can get to third...etc. Get in a run-down and right before ther player throws the ball, press Y to advance (you need to time it perfectly). If you do so, on the second or third throw you should be able to get to the base safely. This works great in close games!
