Walkthrough - (MAG) Stats Guides For Each ClassIntroduction Phantasy Star Online is a fairly deep game, all things considered. It completely immerses its players in a fantastic, futuristic world of danger and adventure. One optional portion of PSO is more-or-less a virtual pet system. These virtual pets, specifically referred to as MAGs, must be fed on a regular basis if they are to grow. And they grow and grow and grow. They take many sizes and shapes and do many things as they evolve. Whether or not they grow well is up to you, its master. Feed it well and it will be your best companion. This guide has been created to assist those who need to get their foot in the door when it comes to raising MAGs. This guide's recommendations are based more on opinion than fact. Study the information given to learn from it, then devise what works best for you in different situations. HUmar / HUnewearl Mags With these classes come somewhat balanced stats. Depending on what you're looking for, you'll also want a balanced MAG to match. You may also opt for a totally unbalanced MAG if you're looking to specialize in a specific stat. Power is the most important stat since both of these classes are experts at combat with weapons, but that certainly doesn't mean other stats should be ignored. Recommendations * Defense isn't a big issue for Hunters. They get plenty as they gain levels and equipment, so it's not recommended to have much DEF on a MAG. * Power is a must for any Hunter. Never leave home without POW. * Dexterity is important throughout the game until a Hunter achieves fairly high levels. A little bit of DEX is good, but don't go overboard. * Mind is useful for having more TP and learning technique levels sooner. However, a Hunter really shouldn't rely on too much MIND, as their strength is with weapons. If you want to learn techniques quicker, make or borrow a true Force MAG (see below) with high MIND. Recommended MAG outcomes * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 10, POW 150, DEX 40, MIND 0 * Possible final outcomes: Varaha (A/H), Kama (B/H, A/R), Madhu (B/R), Naraka (A/F), Marica (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. * POW>DEX>MIND: DEF 10, POW 125, DEX 40, MIND 25 * Possible final outcomes: Varaha (A/H), Kama (B/H, A/R), Madhu (B/R), Naraka (A/F), Marica (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, group C 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. * POW>MIND>DEX: DEF 10, POW 100, DEX 40, MIND 50 * Possible final outcomes: Bhirava (A/H, A/R), Apsaras (B/H), Kaitabha (B/R), Ravana (A/F), Naga (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, group B 100 MAGs, group C 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. Recommended best HUmar MAG outcome * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 10, POW 125, DEX 40, MIND 25 * Recommended final outcome: Deva (100/A/HM), Rati (100/C/HM), Savitri (100/A or C/HF), Pushan (100/A or C/RM), or Diwari (100/C/RF), all for the multiple instances of Shifta & Deband. Recommended best HUnewearl MAG outcome * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 10, POW 125, DEX 40, MIND 25 * Recommended final outcome: Nidra (100/A or C/FM) or Sato (100/A/FF), all for the multiple instances of Invincibility. HUcast / HUcaseal Mags With these classes come a heavy sway towards power. It is wise to raise a MAG that improves upon this strength. * Mind is totally wasted on a droid. A droid MAG should never have anything on the MIND stat. Recommended MAG outcomes * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 10, POW 150, DEX 40, MIND 0 * Possible final outcomes: Varaha (A/H), Kama (B/H, A/R), Madhu (B/R), Naraka (A/F), Marica (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. Recommended best HUcast/HUcaseal MAG outcome * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 10, POW 150, DEX 40, MIND 0 * Recommmended final outcome: Deva (100/A/HM), Savitri (100/A/HF), or Pushan (100/A/RM), all for the multiple instances of Shifta & Deband. RAmar / RAmarl Mags With these classes come somewhat balanced stats. Recommendations * Defense isn't a big issue for Rangers. They tend to fight from a distance (hence RANGErs), so it's not recommended to have much DEF on a MAG. * Power is a must for any Ranger. Never leave home without POW. * Dexterity is important throughout the game until a Ranger achieves fairly high levels. A little bit of DEX is good, but don't go overboard. * Mind is useful for having more TP and learning technique levels sooner. However, a Ranger really shouldn't rely on too much MIND, as their strength is with weapons. If you want to learn techniques quicker, make or borrow a true Force MAG (see below) with high MIND. Recommended MAG outcomes * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 10, POW 150, DEX 40, MIND 0 * Possible final outcomes: Varaha (A/H), Kama (B/H, A/R), Madhu (B/R), Naraka (A/F), Marica (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. * POW>DEX>MIND: DEF 10, POW 125, DEX 40, MIND 25 * Possible final outcomes: Varaha (A/H), Kama (B/H, A/R), Madhu (B/R), Naraka (A/F), Marica (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, group C 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. * POW>MIND>DEX: DEF 10, POW 100, DEX 40, MIND 50 * Possible final outcomes: Bhirava (A/H, A/R), Apsaras (B/H), Kaitabha (B/R), Ravana (A/F), Naga (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, group B 100 MAGs, group C 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. Recommended best RAmar/RAmarl MAG outcome * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 10, POW 125, DEX 40, MIND 25 * Recommended final outcome: Nidra (100/A or C/FM) or Sato (100/A/FF), all for the multiple instances of Invincibility. RAcast / RAcaseal Mags With these classes come a heavy sway towards power. It is wise to raise a MAG that improves upon this strength. Recommended best RAcast/RAcaseal MAG outcome * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 10, POW 150, DEX 40, MIND 0 * Recommmended final outcome: Deva (100/A/HM), Savitri (100/A/HF), or Pushan 100/A/RM), all for the multiple instances of Shifta & Deband. True FOmar / FOmarl / FOnewn / FOnewearl Mags With these classes come a heavy sway towards mind. A true Force is going to want a MAG to improve upon this strength. Recommendations * Defense is a bigger issue for Forces than any other class. Since they typically have weaker stats and gear, it might be worth considering using more DEF on a MAG. * Power is negotiable for a Force. If you want a true Force, don't bother with POW. * Dexterity isn't really necessary for a true Force. Add DEX only if handgun or mechgunclass weapons are intended to be used at some point. * Mind is important insofar as to allow a true Force to gain more TP and learn higher technique levels quicker. Make sure you add a lot of MIND. Recommended MAG outcomes * MIND>POW>DEX MAG: DEF 50, POW 0, DEX 0, MIND 150 * Possible final outcomes: Kabanda (A/H, B/R), Bana (B/H, 45/F), Varaha (A/R), Naga (A/F), Kumara (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, group C 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. * MIND>DEX>POW MAG: DEF 30, POW 0, DEX 20, MIND 150 * Possible final outcomes: Ushasu (A/H), Soma (B/H), Apsaras (A/R), Durga (B/R), Kabanda (A/F), Ila (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. * MIND>DEX>POW MAG: DEF 10, POW 0, DEX 40, MIND 150 * Possible final outcomes: Ushasu (A/H), Soma (B/H), Apsaras (A/R), Durga (B/R), Kabanda (A/F), Ila (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. * MIND>DEX>POW MAG: DEF 25, POW 0, DEX 0, MIND 175 * Possible final outcomes: Ushasu (A/H), Soma (B/H), Apsaras (A/R), Durga (B/R), Kabanda (A/F), Ila (B/F), or by MAG Cell. Recommended best true FOrce MAG outcome * MIND>POW>DEX MAG: DEF 30, POW 0, DEX 20, MIND 150 * Recommended final outcome: Nidra (100/A or C/FM) or Sato (100/A/FF), all for the multiple instances of Invincibility. Tanking FOmar / FOmarl / FOnewn / FOnewearl Mags With these classes come a heavy sway towards mind. However, tanking Forces are going to want a MAG with a lot of power. Recommendations * Defense is a bigger issue for Forces than any other class. Since they typically have weaker stats and gear, it might be worth considering using more DEF on a MAG. * Power is negotiable for a Force. If you want a tanking Force, then you'll want all the POW you can get. * Dexterity is important insofar as to allow a tanking Force to strike truer with his or her weapons. Just don't go overboard on the DEX. * Mind isn't really necessary for a tanking Force. Instead of adding MIND, put the stats where they're really needed. Recommended MAG outcomes * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 50, POW 150, DEX 0, MIND 0 * Possible final outcomes: Varaha (A/H), Kama (B/H, A/R), Madhu (B/R), Naraka (A/F), Marica (B/F), Bana (45/F), group A 100 MAGs, group B 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 30, POW 150, DEX 20, MIND 0 * Possible final outcomes: Varaha (A/H), Kama (B/H, A/R), Madhu (B/R), Naraka (A/F), Marica (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 10, POW 150, DEX 40, MIND 0 * Possible final outcomes: Varaha (A/H), Kama (B/H, A/R), Madhu (B/R), Naraka (A/F), Marica (B/F), group A 100 MAGs, or by MAG Cell. * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 5, POW 175, DEX 20, MIND 0 * Possible final outcomes: Varaha (A/H), Kama (B/H, A/R), Madhu (B/R), Naraka (A/F), Marica (B/F), or by MAG Cell. Recommended best tanking FOrce MAG outcome * POW>DEX>MIND MAG: DEF 10, POW 150, DEX 40, MIND 0 * Recommended final outcome: Nidra (100/A/FM) or Sato (100/A/FF), all for the multiple instances of Invincibility. Be aware that this guide is based solely on my experience with raising MAGs throughout my PSO career. It weighs heavily on my opinions and, therefore, is not set in stone. I'm a bit anal when it comes to the stats I give my MAGs (notice how well rounded they wind up - no odd, jagged numbers). This guide is only meant to give ideas on what works well. In the end, the final decisions on what you do with your MAGs rests solely in your own hands. |
