right now mine is level 42 but it turned dark blue around 35-40

Actually, don't pet your chao. If it turns dark take a hero character and pet it to make
it neutral. if its turning hero take a dark character and pet it till its neutral. If you
want a Sonic chao it must be neutral.

Get a normal baby chao and give it a lot of green chaos drives until the running ability
is it's best ability. Take care of the chao equally with both good and evil characters.
Now, when the chao evolves it will be a neutral running chao. It will be lime green with
darker green stripes on its spikes. Wait until it is 3 years old (In gamecube years, so
about 9 hours old in real time) or until it has it's first NATURAL mating season. Then
give it a bunch of green chaos drives AGAIN, which will make the chao gradually turn into
a sonic chao. This is the second evolution, but it doesn't go into a caccoon. For more
