Beat the game once with 90% or more completion and start a new file

To get a different DK attack background you have to get an S rank an all of the DK attack levels

Pause the game, then press Select to exit the current level. Note: This can only be done in levels that have been previously completed.

50 Lives:
At the game selection screen, go over to the "Erase" option, hold Select and press B, A, R, R, A, L, L.
