First things first, I don$B!G(Bt speak Japanese.  I have a Bachelor$B!G(Bs degree in
Mandarin Chinese, but I have never taken any classes in Japanese.  I finally
got tired of not being able to play the great games like this one that the game
companies never import to America, so I thought I would give a Japanese game a
try.  I felt that the most important things that you need to play are a good
walkthrough to get you through all of the story segments, which I had in the
form of Ayndin$B!G(Bs great FAQ, as well as lists of data from the game, like what
the items are, what the different menu options do, etc.  Ayndin$B!G(Bs FAQ listed
much of this information to get me started, and I took it from there.
The tools that I used to make this guide are a Japanese/English dictionary
(from which I also learned hiragana and katakana), the official Japanese
strategy guide, my Prima strategy guide from Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 (for the
names of items and monsters) and my own knowledge of the Dragon Warrior world
and linguistics.  There may be some errors in the translations or some gaps of
things that I couldn$B!G(Bt figure out, so if you have any additions or corrections,
please let me know.
I am also not very familiar with using Japanese in a word processor.  I am
using Word XP to create this document, but I don$B!G(Bt know  how to make everything
line up nicely.  Any tips would be appreciated.  Also, sometimes when I am
entering Japanese with the Windows entry system, it will bring up the wrong
character and I can$B!G(Bt figure out how to change it.  For example, there is more
than one character for ji and zu.
