I looked your question up and it says that you get the record player from linking your
Harvest Moon FoMT to Harvest Moon AWL, which will cause Van (or Lou) to come to Mineral
Town and you can buy it, and records, from him.

Something odd about this is that in my game I had a record player, but I can't recall ever
having Van visit me...

You can get the record player one of two ways.
1) Buy it from Van after linking to HW:AWL

2) Anne's green/blue heart event. However, I think Anne's is broken, so you can't play
music on it.
