Walkthroughs - Kat's Money-Making Guide for the Pennyless

If you have little to no money, this is a guide for you. In order to live an easy married
life, your gonna need a lot of money, especially since later on you may have a family and
animals to look after. Getting started can be tough, after all, you only have 500g, though
with these few easy tips, you can be swimming in gold in no time!

 First - Random items
The best thing to start out with is gathering the few herbs lying around town in all
seasons but winter. The only thing you can find is white grass, one along the path above
Gotz's house and the other behind the church which can only be accessed after you've
become friends with Carter. The only herb that impacts you the most is White Grass, but
the other herbs get you started, and their easy to find! On the Beach, by Gotz's house,
the Spring, or around the Kappa lake.

 Second - Mining
Ah, now we're getting into some better money making progress. If you've got enough money
and have bought the largest rucksack then you can buy a basket. It's not necessary to have
a basket when mining but its a good idea since you don't have to take so many trips back
and forth from the shipping bin to the mine. Now, there are two places you
can mine, the Spring mine and the Lake mine. The Spring mine is accessable all year round
while the Lake mine can only be reached in the winter time when the lake freezes.

Spring mine:
You can find many things in this mine from the first level copper and silver to Gold and
Mystrile in the lower mines about 5 levels down or less. If you can't reach the lower
parts of the mine, a full haul of copper and silver can do you well. It is in this mine
that you can find the ores you need to upgrade tools. You will also be able to find cursed
tools deep within the mines at levels 29, 39, 49, 59 and so on, though only after you
upgrade your tools to mystrile status.

Lake mine:
In this mine you can find a variety of different jemstones and jewels. All from the
reletively valuable Florite in all levels to the sand rose at level 9. These are more
valuable than ores found in the Spring mine. Also, if you use your hoe to dig around,
black grass can be sifted out, its more common in this mine than the other, also, eating
it restored strength and fatigue used up digging in the mines.

 Third - Fishing
When you start out you won't have a fishing rod. To get one, go to Zach's place between
11:00am - 4:00pm. When you get a fishing rod, you'll only be able to catch small fish and
the occasional medium fish, but as you upgrade you'll be able to catch other things such
as large fish and maybe a recipe or powerberry. There are a few places you can fish, the
sea at the beach, the river beneath the bridge towards the peak of mother's hill, the
river by your farm, and the water by the spring and lake mines. To catch a fish just press
B to cast out the line and B to real it in when you see a little '!' over your head.

 Forth - Crops
Crops are a good start if you want to work the least. When you start out the game,
you'll be given one bag of turnip seeds (You can buy more later on from the Super Market).
Before you can plant them though, you need to prepare your land. Clear away any unwanted
weeds by picking them up and throwing them by pressing A twice. With sticks and stones,
you'll either clear them by using your Ax or Hammer. Or you could throw them in the water.
The stumps and large stones can't be cleared away until you have upgraded your hammer and
ax to level 2. Anyways, when the patch of land you've cleared is ready, use your hoe to
make a pattern to lay out your seeds. I'd recomend either a full square with a patch cut
out of the middle or two rows of 3 with 2 patches at the bottom leaving the middle
exposed. Next is planting. Stand in the middle of the patch you made and press B, then use
your watering can to water the seeds. Do this every day until their ready to harvest. Some
plants grow once, others can grow numerous times. Be sure to plant the apropriate seeds
for their season or they won't grow.

 Fifth and Final - Animals
At last, when you think you have enough money you can start buying animals. They require
a lot more work than crops. Though with effort and money, you can make a lot of money for
high quality milk, eggs and wool that your animals produce.

Chickens - Their a great start since they hardly require any work. Start out with one
chicken, give her food every day by placing seed in the feed bin. To increase the
affection of your chicken, be sure to pick it up every day or leaving it outside for
awhile, but make sure you bring it in before 8:00pm or the wild dogs will scare it.
Collect the egg from your chicken and place it in the incubator, in 3 days it will become
a chick. In a week or two, that chick will be an adult and lay eggs, when this happens you
won't need to uy any mre chickens, just place an egg in the incubator. Also, winning
contests with your chickens will allow it to lay gold eggs once it gets up to 8 hearts,
and when it is outside for a long period of time, it will lay P type eggs, there is also a
slim chance that they will lay X type eggs.
Note: Your chicken coop only holds 4 chickens until you upgrade it, and also, every
chicken needs feed, be sure to fill the feed box according to the # of chickens you have.
Do not let them out on rainy days + heal them with medicine if they get sick.

Cows + Sheep - They need a little bit more work than the chickens, but make more profit.
Start with one of each. You need to talk to, brush, milk or sheer your cows and sheep
every day. Though you won't be able to milk your cow for a few weeks while sheep can be
sheered right away. Every week you'll be able to sheer your sheep, you can milk cows every
day. Like chickens, you need to feed your cows/sheep every day according to the number of
animals you have, place the feed in the feed boxes. Let them outside on sunny days. Unlike
Cows/Sheep, you can't hatch them from eggs...xD That would be silly! You need to
impregnate them with a special potion. The cow or sheep had to be adult (Have wool for
sheep) and in a few weeks the calf/lamb will be born. Like chickens, if they win a
contest, if they have 8 hearts or more, they will give gold themed wool/milk, and if
they've been out for a cirten amount of hours they will give P type, there is also a slim
chance of them giving the rare X type milk/wool.

Horse Races - The baby horse you get from Barley in the beginning of the game dows have
some use. In a year the horse will be fully grown and you can race him in the Spring and
Fall horse races. The metals you earn from the bets you made can be exchanged for items
such as diamonds, truffles, bracelets or even powerberries. When you go to the race, bring
your basket and fill it with broaches. Ship them the next morning and you'll earn a bundle
^^

Well, that's all! I hope this helped you! If you have any questions, I'll be on the
question board so feel free to ask! ;)
