This is the 4th installation in the Battle Network series. Nothing too much, except this is the first big FAQ I've worked on. Hope you enjoy. Just some notes: PMD-Purple Mystery Data, needs an Unlocker to get. GMD-Green Mystery Data, regenerates. BMD -Blue Mystery Data, one time only. a) Characters [1CHR] Lan Hikari Navi: Megaman Desc: The heroes of the series, Megaman is actually LAN's twin brother Hub who died while he a baby. They have managed to stop an evil syndicate once, and another twice. And yet nobody knows about it, and always underestimate him. Mayl Navi: Roll Desc: Mayl has been Lan's friend forever. She's the 6th grades best student, and a talented muscisian. Mayl is the odds on favorite to be the next "Mrs. Hikari", and Capcom finally gave us a little more romance between the two this time. Roll is a sweetheart, and is Megamn's "girlfriend". Dex Navi: Gutsman Desc:Dex and Guts are about one thing. Strength. Dex used to be a bully, but his constant defeats to Lan stripped him of that title. Despite this, Lan and Dex have grown to become best friends. Unfortunately, Gutsman is not a boss in BM. Yai Navi: Glide Desc: Yai is the richest girl in AC/DC Town. She is also the youngest in 6th grade. Her navi Glide acts more like a butler at times, but can put up a good fight because of the rare chips Yai has. Chaud Navi: Protoman/Blues Desc: Chaud is the youngest and most famous Official. His navi Protoman, are an excellent team who have destroyed many Netcriminals. Lan and Chaud have had a rivalry building over the last few games. It seemed it would end at the N-1 Grand Prix (BN3), but with the tournament cancelled, perhaps they will finally meet in this game... NOTES: The instruction booklet has Protosoul listed as "Bluessoul" Blues is Protoman's name in Japan. Megaman is known as Rockman, so you have Rock & Roll, as well as Blues to complete the musical theme. Higsby Navi: NumberMan Higsby is a former WWW member, who turned straight in BN1. He's a worldclass chip hunter, and runs a chip store in AC/DC. Dr. Hikari (dad) and Mom These are Lan's parents. Dad is the head scientist of Scilab who invented the PET. Mom is the super housewife, who takes care of Lan and Mega during Dad's (many) absences. Interestingly enough, Hikari is Japanese for Light. (If I need to tell you why...) OTHER CHARACTERS COMING SOON! b) Story [1STR] The year is 200x, since the advent of the PET (Personal Terminal), the internet has taken a much wider grasp of life since ever before. Unfortunately, there are those that wish to disrupt this society. In MMBN1, Dr. Wily and his WWW syndicate successfully gathered the 4 Elemental Programs, allowing him to create the powerful Life Virus, almost destroying the Internet. However, because of some newly discovered links between Mega man and Lan they are able to defeat the WWW. This occurs at the start of 5th grade for Lan. (Mr. Match sets your stove on fire in this one). In MMBN2, midway through the 5th grade, another threat arises. The mysterious syndicate Gospel has started to attack countries electronically. Despite almost causing several natural disasters by getting into the climate controls of every country. Showing they've got bigger plans than WWW, they try to destroy both the real world and the Internet. Eventually Lan and Megaman track down the base of the syndicate, and put an end to their plans. (2 notes, Match does nothing except hang around the airport. Robot bears attack you) In MMBN3, its the end of 5th grade for Lan. Wily and the WWW are back again, and are attempting to steal the 4 Tetracodes. These codes hold back the first navi "Alpha" created by Lan's grandfather. After successful thefts of all 4, provided by carefully planned distractions, the final block for Alpha is destroyed by Bass, a mysterious Navi who really doesn't like humans. Megaman and Lan manage to destroy Alpha, though not without a great cost... (You get attacked by robot tanks, and Match sets the internet on fire) In MMBN4, 6th grade is starting for Lan, and a giant asteroid is heading for Earth. In an attempt to stop it, scientists form all over the world build a superlaser. They are almost successful, but have to resort to a plan B, which involves holding the Blue Moon tournament. However, the mysterious syndicate "Nebula" has its own plan for the laser. Lan will attempt to defeat his 3rd syndicate, and save the world for the 4th time in less than a year. c) Controls [1CNL] World first, battle second. L- Talk to Megaman/Lan. Run (in battle) R- Jack In/Out. nothing in battle. A- Confirm/Examine. Use Chip in battle. Hold to charge chip B- Cancel. Fire Megabuster in battle. Hold to charge shot. Directional Pad: Move Cursor/Megaman Select- Skip cutscenes as well as remove custom screen while waiting choosing chips. Start- Pause game and pull up menu. d) Additions/Removals [1ADD] The game has had some alterations since 3, and I'll try to run them over. Additions: Soul system for battling Difficulty levels that actually mean something. Undernet 2 from BN2 is back as Undernet 6. Ability to travel the world. Walkthrough [2WLK] ===================== a) Shopping Trip to Hell [2TWN] Alright, lets start out. Welcome to MMBN4. The first 10 minutes will be tutorials acquainting you with the game. Just follow everyone's instructions and you'll be fine. Once its all done, and you eat breakfast you get a chance to explore AC/DC. Its been changed pretty radically. Subchip dealer is in the west corner. buy some if you need them. Jack into your doghouse to get a "Barrier A" chip. Talk to Dex, (Mayl and Yai aren't home) and return home. Dad will be done, and you leave. Welcome to Electown, not much to notice except the fence by the construction site. Move to the next screen, and watch the cutscene. When Dad goes back in the store, talk to Mayl and Yai, and make your way to Electown Square. Listen to the announcement, and then return back to where Yai and Roll were. Talk to the people, jack into the PC, and talk to Shademan. You learn that he's planning on terroizing the AC/DC area next... Jack out, and head back to AC/DC. Run back to your PC, jack in and follow the big blue path until AC/DC 3. Shademan will knockout Gutsman and Glide, and then kidnap Roll. Jack out, and you'll get an email from Yai, giving you YaiCode. Head over to Yai's PC and jack in. Talk to the program in the south corner to create a link b/t Lan's HP and Yai's. Check the message board if you want to, and use the gren warp to go to AC/DC 3 Use YaiCode to open the security cube, and then follow the Blue path until you get to the Town area. Your goal is in Town 1, but the path you want can only be accessed by Town 2. Make your way along the yellow path. Now when you're in the area with all the holes. *** The third dead end on the NW side is a secret path to a PMD containing a HPMemory *** There are a few pieces oF BMD that'll get you a Recov30 R, and a Sandhole * chips. Now head to Town 2. Nothing too big in Town 2, just follow the path past, and you want the first warp. (Not the one by the ramp, the other one). Before you go, there is a Netdealer in Town 3 with the Cannon C chip. If you want the GigCannon1 PA right now, buy it. Hold off if you don't have the money. Alright, do what you want to do, take the warp, and follow the path until ElecTower 1. Walk over to the NW side of the platform, and let Shademan taunt you. Jack Out. Head over to Electown, and try to get to the square. There's some big sonic waves coming out, so we need to turn off the speaker. Head back to ElecTown 1. Push the door in the fence open, and go up the stairs. Follow the path back to the square. You can't get close, guess the guy wasn't lying. You're going to need some earphones... Jack into the stereo that was having the contest and fight the NormalNavi. Nothing too hard, just use your chips and dodge his attacks. Jack out after getting your prize. Return back up the stairs, and jack into the controls by the speaker. Back in ElecTower 1. There are 3 pieces of BMD scattered around, one had 700z, another has a Spreader M, and the last has a RegUp2. Talk to the program by the Pink Wall to get BootDataA. Go to the center, and find the Sonar device. Boot it up, and try to get the bats. You don't need to get all of them at once, but it can pretty hard. Get all 3 and return to the program. Move on to ELectower 2. There are 3 more pieces of BMD around. the one on the white catwalk has a BugFrag. The one by the sonar machine is a HPMemory, and the one on the northernmost platform is a Longsword S. I'd suggest moving it into your library to get the LifeSword PA. (Very useful PA) Talk to the program by pink door to get BootDataB. Return to the sonar, and catch 4 bats. Now that the wall is gone, move along to ShadeMan. It looks like you're in dire straits, until Lan turns down the volume. TAKE THAT B*TCH. ANALOG FOREVER! Anyway, its time for... ================== BOSS: SHADEMAN.EXE ================== HP: 500 Attacks: Bats: He releases a few bats. Just shoot them down. Energy Blast: He fires a ball of energy at you. Alright, nothing too hard here. No chips needed. Shoot him 5 times with your Megabuster to win. Watch the cutscene. Grab the chip Shademan leaves behind, and jack out. Go talk to Higsby. Open Dex's email to get his PCode. Go home and sleep. b) City Tournament [2CTN] The preliminaries are pretty easy. Jack into the Jomon computer, (Its the one in charge of discounts) and find the guy in Town 3. He's on the upper level, and looks like a messgenger. Jack out, and return to the official, and learn of your taks. There are 3 people, each of who require a task to be done. Left guy lost some data in the Mettaur Village. There's a Navi who will tell you where it is in Town 2, so find him. He's on the lower level, so warp to him. He says they don't like sunlight or Electown or high areas. He's lying so just reverse what he said. Climb up to the upper level, and jack into the sign. Talk to the purple Navi to get the data and initiate a fight. Nothing too hard. Jack out, and return to the guy. Middle Guy wants a male and female goldbug. There's a navi in AC/DC 1 with a hint...but if you don't want to bother, they're both in AC/DC town. Examine the tree closest to the squirrel statue for one. Check Yai's house for the second. It's in the teddy bear. Return to ElecSquare and give the guy the bugs. The right girl is having some problems with her Navi. First andswer her trivia question. Then comes a 3 fight battle. Battle 1: 2 Mettaurs and a MettaurEX Battle 2: 2 Spikeys Battle 3: Billy, Boomer and MettaurEX Nothing too hard. Talk to the man, and you;ll gain access to DenDome. Walk around. There's a HP memory in the hot dog vendor's grill. There's also a "Recov50 S" chip in the vending machine inside. It's time for the first tournament. The format is simple. Win 3 matches to be champ. Unfortunately, you need to complete a quest before you can fight. There are 2 possible opponents for each match, and it will take more than 1 playthrough to finish all the possible scenarios. This holds true for all tournaments. Any way... YAY! Time for some free time. ***NOTE*** THE LOTTERY MACHINE IS NOW AVAILABLE AT HIGSBY'S! BE UNETHICAL! CHECK SECTION 10 FOR THE CODES! ********** When you get up, go outside and find Mayl, who will tell you to meet her back at her house. Go there, she'll give you her PCode, and tell you that Roll's waiting for Megaman in Town 3. You can't leave Roll's house, so talk to the program to create a link to your HP. Just get there, and talk to Roll and a cutscene will play. Talk to the navi who made the announcement, and prepare for a 3 fight battle. 1: MettaurEX (3) 2: MelodyEX (2) 3: MelodyEX, MettaurEX, Gaia You'll win a pair of tickets to Callisto Park. Jack out, andtalk to Mayl...awww Mega can pick up hints, but Lan can't... It's moot now, as the doghouse actually does something. Rush back home, find mom, and check your PC. Jack in, and head to Town 3. Run to the end of the section, and examine the pink wall. A cutscene will occur and you'll be fighting a NormalNavi. Beat him, (not too hard) and examine his corpse. Just put the letters in order, and open the door. Alright, you need to head to park 2. Go up the staircase and follow that path until come to a 4 way intersection. Take the west one, and just follow all the surves. (You're passing a SubChip dealer too), and move to Park 2. Once in Park 2, take the warp, and follow the pink path out of the platform. Take the first branch, and talk to the purple navi. Its a simple fight, knock out the MettaurEX first, and take potshots at him. We now learn who's behind all the dark chips, a syndicate named Nebula. Jack out, and laugh at the poor Navi. Mayl will call afterwards and you'll be taking her to the Park on a date. Open your email from Dad and you'll recieve the Navi Customizer. (See Section 3). You'll also get an XtraFolder. I reccomend getting the BusterPack from the Lotto machine, and putting it in. You'll get max speed, charge, and damage. Anyway, head over to Callisto. Talk to Mayl, and head over t the entrance. Now before you go in, jack into the ticket machines and get the SubMem hidden inside. Head into the park, and you'll find that all the rides are down, because the team in Park 3 hasn't responded yet. Jack into the cart by the castle, and you'll be in CastilloHP. Talk to the program near the warp, to get the Castillo PCode. There's a Program Dealer here, so buy anything you want to, and then move to Park 1. Make your way back over to Park 2, and go past the dad end that you fought, and take the next warp. Take the orange path to Park 3. Don't you love choices? The first has a BugFrag, the 2nd nothing. Take the 3rd, and make yor wat North. Don't take any moving belts. Examine the controls, and you'll fight 3 Shrimpys. Don't worry, just dodge their attacks and delete them. Jack out. Go talk to Mayl, and follow her on the rides. I suggest you read their stories. Before you head into Vampire Manor, go to MelSquare and jack into the ice cream car in the SE corner. There's a HPMemory in it. Save, and head into the manor Remember your way around, you'll need it later. Examine the Django V. Dracky staues to get a GunSol 1 G chip. Make your way out, and guess what? Its time for the mandatory robot attack. (You think they would guard these things better). Jack into the Halberd Princess (ToyRobo 1) There's not much to say, board the raft, wait for it to stop, and find the correct words, so here are the ones to look for. Stop 1: MIRROR; There's 1400z in a BMD as well. Stop 2: BIG TREE; There's a HP+50 Program in a BMD as well. Stop 3: MIGHTYBL (mighty blow); There's a RegUp1 in BMD as well. Examine that controls, and fight a BillyEX and MelodyEX. Jack out. 2nd RObot is WzDog (ToyRobo 2), same story as Halberd Princess. Stop 1: WZMONKEY; the BMD has a RockCube * chip. Stop 2: MAGICSEL; BMD is a HPMemory Stop 3: GOODNOSE, SCRATCH (put them in that order).
