In Ultimate mode, you start i=off with max health. That may seem like the only advantage, but it's not. Since you start off the game with max health, without the help of Elves, your mission ranking will easily be high.

Another advantage is on-the-spot charged moves. With certain control pad movements, you can get a fully charged atrack fro the weapon you're using. I think it my be you rotate the control pad, but I'm not sure. Either way, it's more useful than charging it up.
