Secret - Hinawa's early present
by Bramblefang Sep 07, 2009
When you first begin the game and you are Lucas in his house, go downstairs. You see Hinawa sitting in the table in her chair. You go behind her and rush into her by holding down B. Do it a couple times and then Hinawa will give you an item. I think it's a roll or some kind of recovering item.. |

I'm fairly certain that it's a Bread Roll.
Could you perhaps make a compilation of secrets like these instead of just posting one at a time I know I can't control this, but it would be much nicer if this page were organized, and the cheats were easy to navigate.

You mean I should put them in a group then. I'll try and actually I haven't played Mother 3 so I don't actually know a lot. I watch some LPs on Youtube.

Actually it's a N.u.t Bread. Heh, thought the site might censor it.

You'd be surprised at what this site censors. It even censors c.l.a.s.s.

Then I guess I better not make any references to B.RE.AST. cancer on here, then!

Ha, that's funny. Besides, why would you make a reference to that?

I wouldn't do so normally on this site, since it doesn't seem germane to the topic at hand! However, I do know that THAT word has been censored in the past, leading to much outrage on the part of women looking up information on a certain type of cancer!

Really? I never knew that! Those women be pretty ticked off. Imagine looking up a disease/illness/cancer and finding out it's been censored.

I think this was in the early days of "online" as we know it, in 1995 or so. And of course, it was AOL, or so I recall.
Speaking of censorship / message board filters, I was once on a message board which censored the middle part of "wris.t.w.a.t.ch."

There's probably some other words that have parts censored. I mean, anything that has a censored word in it.
P.S. In this game (Mother 3) Kumatora calls Fassad a "screwed up bas****" near the end of Chapter 3. Plus in the Japanese version of EarthBound there is a bit where the main character is naked because in Japan nakedness, I think, is a symbol of purity or something. That's not really the case over here however...

Hahaha, I had to laugh at your test because it was funny!
Yeah, I like that Kumatora line! She definitely has a personality! I have heard that about the Japanese version of EARTHBOUND, too. Not the case here, no. Can you imagine the reaction?! (then again, the Japanese version of FINAL FANTASY IV had a LOT more interesting things in it that our version - known as FINAL FANTASY II - censored!)

Kumatora really has a bossy, straight-to-it personality. For instance in Chapter 4 at Club Titiboo when you repeatedly tell her you don't want a shower, the screen flashes then shakes and she says "JUST TAKE A DAMN SHOWER ALREADY!" Also I saw a video about the Rope Snake cutscene at the end of Chapter 5. Lucas' pants slid down and his butt was exposed. Also "kuma" is bear in Japanese(I THINK it's Japanese) so that probably explains a lot. For example when you first get the Hummingbird Egg in Ch. 3, Kuma sets off a trap. Wess yells "PRINCESSSSS!!!" and Kuma replies with "My bad." The Mother series is sort of Japanese and that's probably the reason for the quirky dialogue. I can't think of any series that has so much funny dialogue and animations. For instance, before Chapter 1, when you have to ram into the Drago, ramming it from the left will cause the Drago to fall on you. You get stunned for a while too, and in Chapter 2 at the start of Osohe Castle ramming into the giant cannonball from the right will cause it to fall on you, making it an instant game over. Some things I still don't get. In Ch.5, how can a Pork Bean, a FLOATING object, slip an a banana peel? How did the Pigmask pass out like that after you slip? Also there's Flint's secret dialogue which I made a Cheat about.

Oh yes, "tora" means tiger, so that makes Kumatora a bear tiger. Perhaps it's why she got caught in a BEAR trap in Chapter 2. :)

I've seen a video of the Game Over caused by the giant cannonball, and it's funny! Flint's secret dialogue? Haven't heard that before! (but I have heard of Kumatora's name meaning)

You can mess up the cutscenes with the Debug Room. I had a Gift Box calling Claus a "*** monkey" and taking back the Luxury Banana Claus took from it :-). Then the game messed up. You know, I really wish they brought back PK Beam from Mother 1. 200 damage to each enemy for like 25 PP? Can you say p3ned? Also Mother 1's PK Fire is broken. Insta-kill every thing for 30 PP when endgame PP is like 200? Can you say "doubly p3ned"? That's the sad thing, M2 & M3's most powerful PK Fire uses up like 42 PP. and it does PK Beam damage. Also PK Freeze p3ns. and the idea of killing the final boss by singing is laughable.

Now that you mention it, I do miss PK Beam! That was really cool!
I wish the Debug Room codes worked on my emulator, but for some reason, they do not. The only ones which appear to work are the ones where Lucas gets 999 HP / PP / Offense / Defense. Too bad.... I wish I wouldn't get stuck in the ocean all the time! (infinite oxygen tank would be AWESOME!)

Hey look, the site censored s.t.u.p.i.d. The debug room code worked on my emulator. Are you using VBA? Are you holding L down when you enter a new area? Also, for the PP thing I said endgame, not max. End game is Level 20-40. Out of 99. PK Beam was one of the better PSI moves in the series, up there with PK Love, PK Rockin, PK Freeze and PK Starstorm and (M3) PK Thunder. One PSI power I DON'T want them to bring back is M1 Lifeup Omega. It fully heals all, but with a cost of 50 PP it's a very expensive PSI Move, second to PK Rocking Omega which cost 98 PP and tied with PK Love Omega. Coincidentally PK Rockin Omega generally dealt less damage than PK Love Omega but Ness did have a broken level up, raising his HP to 900 and PP to 500. You always got that unless you were Lv.99 in the Ness' Nightmare fight.

It did? Whoa. That's crazy!
I'm using no$gba because VBA gives me weird sounds on my computer. Don't ask - I don't know. I loved PK Starstorm! Lifeup Omega there IS expensive, so I never used it. I remember that about Ness' level-up, and was very surprised when I saw it!

I didn't really like PK Starstorm in EB1, only because it's too expensive at 24/42 PP. I liked it better in M3 though. Poo's endgame PP is about 150 and I need him for Healing and Lifeup. M1 Lifeup Omega is 48, not 50. EB1 Lifeup Omega is TWENTY-FOUR, and it healed 400-500 HP. Lifeup Pi is preferable however, and it only costs 15-20 PP. I was very surprised when I first found out PK Rockin' Omega cost 98 PP (I got PK Rockin Omega B4 the broken level up). Well, it's 6PM in Australia and i've got me a trophy to get in Animal Crossing! :) I'll probably be back, though.

Yeah, you have to keep in mind the PP costs of a spell. I was surprised abut the Rockin' Omega cost as well - yeah, I also got it before the broken level-up. It's 11:40 PM here in Vancouver, but I personally haven't played ANIMAL CROSSING before. Maybe I should try it, haha!

I'm playing it right now. I recently got a Golden Clock, available only through WiiConnect24. Do you have SSBB? BTW I remember approximations of the PP costs of spells I use frequently, like 4-th D Slip (16 PP), M1 Lifeup Alpha (3 PP), PK Flash Beta (16 PP) and I remember levels that you learn PSI: Ninten,SuprHealing(11 character limit, like Braincyclon),Lv.35 Paula,PSI Shield Omega,Lv.60 Ana,PK Fire Omega, Lv.35. I found it weird in Ch. 4 (M3) how Ionia appears to rape Lucas in the Hot Spring when he learns PSI. I thought Ionia would rape Kuma too when she said she would teach her PK Starstorm. If you're going to get Animal Crossing, I know there's one on the GCN, Wii and 3DS/DS. In my game (Wii) mushrooms are growing and I'm ready to make a healthy profit from selling them. Today I also won the Carp Fishing Tourney with a 37.4 inch carp (1 metre). The judge(Chip the Beaver)really surprised me when he ATE THE FISH ON THE SPOT after I showed him my carp.

I don't have SSBB, no. Sounds like a good thing if you remember the PP costs and such - you must have a good memory!
The ocean in MOTHER 3 is just... devastating me right now! Ugh.

Sorry for the wait, no I don't EXACTLY remember the PP costs but I remember approximations of things like PK Fire(EB 1,2). The ocean? You want save states.Just save,Save,SAVE.

Remembering approximations also seems good!
I saved a billion times - obvious exaggeration. Then I found an infinite oxygen tank code and another emulator. I really hoped it would work without any problems (such as not allowing me to progress in fights), and it seems to have done so in a test I made last night.

The area after that is really weird. The "boss" (ocean) is really easy to pass. The only save frog is before the "boss" but save states are better.

It's a pretty good game! Maybe i'm biased since i also played it at least 15 years ago... But it has a great story and awesome replay value as well! You should try it - if you do, get back to me!
Mother 3... I'd have to say at least a 9 out of 10.

I'd give m3 at least 9.2321560367835967390452/10 ;p. I think it would have been really good on the gcn/wii with a gamecube controller. It'd be nice too if they did release earthbound 64 on the wii, except they'd call it earthbound wii :).
