[Version 2.4.10 - April 13, 2007] Quite a lot of changes to editing, wordiness,
etc. I don't think any content was majorly effected (at least, any content
relevant to the game itself...).
[Version 2.4.11 - May 4 2007] Added some more info about getting Rayquazza,
thanks to Geoffrey Marcus for this. I also changed my email. Finally, I've
changed the version numbering scheme (since I reached more then 10 minor edits,
so as to not confuse with major edits).

=====
The 2 Teams*
=====
If you have played any Pokémon game before, you will be familiar with the idea
of some bad guys, who make up a "team". Ruby and Sapphire players will be
familiar with Team Magma and Team Aqua. What is different, however, is that for
the first time, both teams are your enemies. As well as hating each other, now
both Maxie and Archie are after you. However, this turns out to be a good thing
when you end their rivalry because of a common need, peace. I won't spoil any
more of the game, but remember, you have no allies.
===============================================================================
==========================Walkthrough*=========================================
===============================================================================
In this walkthrough I will generally use the words north, south, east and west.
North is up, south is down, east is right, and west is left.
N/up
|
|
W/left----+----E/right
|
|
S/down
Look carfully at the compass, and don't email me asking which way is west.
I know it's sad, but some people do that.
Througout the walkthrough you will see stop signs:
_____
/ \
| STOP! |
\_____/
These signs are there for YOUR safety. If you don't obey them, there is a
higher chance you will get whited out. This costs you time, money, and patience
Please follow the instructions located under the stop signs.
======
Welcome to Hoenn! - Littleroot Town*
======
Welcome to the Walkthrough. We start this game in your new home, Littleroot
Town. First thing to do before you leave your house is set the clock in your
room. So go up the starirs and do so. After that, Mum talks to you, and you
can look at your PC Currently their is one item stored in the item storage
system, so withdraw it. Then go downstairs.
One of Dad's friends lives in town! Better go say hi. Professor Birch's lab
is the big building south of your house. It's easy to see the professor isn't
in. So let's go find him. Go into the house across the path from yours to meet
another Mum. You will also meet your rival. Because I am a boy, mine is named
May. If you're a girl, he's called Brendan. After meeting May, head north to
find the professor. In his bag are three Poke-balls. Grab one that looks cool,
in my opinion they're all the same. A battle! Basically, you can fight or run.
If you fight, choose a move to weaken the opponent until he faints. If he
faints, you win! The prof gives you your Pokémon, and you are told to meet May
(or your rival)on route 103. To do this, head north to where you met the prof,
then continue until you reach Oldale Town.
Rest at the red Pokémon centre. Talk to the nurse to heel your Pokémon, then
go out and talk to a woman wearing an apron for a free potion. Nothing left to
do in town, so head north to find May. This is your first trainer battle. You
can't run in trainer battles, so it's like a fight to the death, destroy all his
Pokémon before he destroys yours. Don't worry about this battle, you will win.
Just keep using your attacking move, whether it is scratch or tackle. If you
win, you should go up a level with the experience you gained from battling.
This strengthens your Pokémon, giving them a better chance of winning. Now go
back to the lab and talk to Prof. Birch.
You got a Pokedex and Pokeballs!!!! Now you can catch Pokémon and record data
on them. Time for your real adventure to start. Strap on the running shoes mum
gives you, and run back to Oldale Town.
=====
A Family Affair - Petalburg City*
=====
This time in Oldale town, you can leave through the west exit which was blocked
before. This is the way we want to go to get to any other town. I won't
describe each battle from now on, only important ones. I try to avoid trainers,
but sometimes you will have to battle, so try not to lose. If you want to cure
during battle, instead of choosing fight, choose bag etc.. Now you're ready to
catch a Pokémon.
The first wild Pokémon you see, attack it once or twice so its health is in the
orange/red zone. Now choose bag and throw a pokeball. It may take a few
attempts to actually catch the Pokémon, but stick to it and you'll soon catch
something.
Cure your Pokémon, then put it on top of your battle list by choosing Pokémon on
the start menu, and switch on the Pokémon's menu. This will make your Pokémon
get battle experience, and you can switch it out of battle before it gets hurt.
Walk along the track and pick the berries at the top. Berries are like potions
etc., but they can be held by Pokémon and used in battle without missing a turn.
Great! Give an oran berry to each of your Pokémon and then walk west.
Welcome to Petalburg city. This is where your dad lives and works. He is gym
leader here. Go visit him in the big silver building in the north section of
town. You will have to help Wally out while you're there, but that's OK because
he does everything right anyway.
Dad says we should challenge gym leader Roxanne. To beat her, you will need
something of the water/grass type. If you started with Torchic, catch a Lotad,
Wingull, Marill, or Shroomish.
Walk west out of town, ignoring the rude man who says hi, and try and find a
Pokémon stated above, whilst walking towards Rustboro City. This means walking
through Petalburg woods, but don't worry they aren't long (or hard).
When you walk in, turn east and go out through the next exit for a free
pokeball, then press A while standing looking over an empty square surrounded by
grass to find a potion.
Go in the other direction and destroy and trainers who try to stop you.
Basically, keep walking in a similar pattern, sort of a zig zag, between the
ledges.
AHH. Team Aqua. This is pretty easy, and your starting Pokémon should take
him out. Just smash him, get the great ball from the Devon guy, and keep
walking. Turn to the left after battle, and walk as far as you can to see
another empty square. This one contains a pokeball.
Don't worry about the different looking trees opposite the sign, just head north
and out of the forest. Told you it was easy.
Get a bullet seed TM from the lady just outside. A TM is an item which teaches
a move to a Pokémon, but TMs can only be used once. Teach bullet seed to a
grass Pokémon like Lotad or Shroomish. Walk around the shop to find a super
potion in the second empty square from the top, on the right. Then walk in the
shop. Get a Wailmer Pail to water berries from a girl inside the shop, then
leave.
Be sure to battle the rich boy. He's weak, and he gives you a ton of cash when
you win. Walk along the bridge for a 2 on 2 battle. This is the same as usual,
but you use your top 2 Pokémon at once.
Continue up the bridge and enter Rustboro city!
=====
Team Aqua Rocks! - Rustboro City*
=====
The first thing to do in Rustboro is get a HM from cutter's house. To do this,
walk into the house west of the Pokémon centre and talk to the man. Easy as
pie (mmmm...pie). Teach this HM to one of your team, and then leave the house.
A HM is like a TM except you can use it as many times as you want, and it can't
be forgotten by your Pokémon.
Walk into the bulilding south of cutter's, and talk to the girl on the second
floor for a premier ball. This ball is similar to a pokeball, but it looks
special.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
_____
/ \
| STOP! |
\_____/
DO NOT pass this point until you have at least 1 water/grass Pokémon at Level
11 or higher, and at least 2 other Pokémon at Level 11 or higher.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now walk to the gym in the top right corner of town. The first
trainer is easy using your bullet seed TM, while the 2 on 2 is only harder
because it takes longer. Roxanne is the real challenge. She has 2 Level 12
Geodudes, and a Level 15 Nosepass. Bullet Seed works perfectly. After beating
her, you earn your first Pokémon league badge - the Stonebadge. Cool! You also
get a TM which you should keep for when you get a rock Pokémon. Walk outside
for a surprise.
Its that Devon guy again! This time he really needs your help, so head east,
battle the trainers, and go into Rusturf tunnel. Get the free pokeball before
you battle the Team Aqua guy. He is easy, and he returns the goods without any
probs. You are now Mr Briney's friend. That will come in handy later, but for
now, you should return the goods to the guy waiting for you.
Mr Stone, the Devon President, wants you to run two errands for him. Sounds
like fun, and you can fight a gym leader on the way. Walk out of Devon, and
head south out of Rustboro after talking to Mr Stone on the phone. Walk south.
May wants to battle! She has the evolved form of her starter, and one other,
depending on your starter(this sounds complex, but basically, she has a Pokémon
of the SAME type as your starter, and a Pokémon which is super effective against
your starter). She isn't much tougher than Roxanne, so good luck.
May tells us about Mr Briney, the old seaman. Sounds like we should visit him.
If you've checked your Pokenav, you'll know that the 2 places you have to visit
are across the water from here. So leave town the way we came, across the
bridge, and through the forest. Only this time, you can cut down trees to get
through quicker. You may wish to do so. Cut the first tree you see, and talk
to the nearby girl to get a miracle seed. This item powers up grass type moves,
so make a grass Pokémon hold it. Walk a bit further east and pick up a great
ball. Exit the forest by jumping the ledges and going south. Take the east
exit (the one you took to get a pokeball) and jump the ledges. You should now
be near Mr Briney's cottage. Talk to him inside to begin the voyage.
=====
The city of darkness - Dewford Town*
=====
Welcome to Dewford town. The first thing you'll notice here is another gym.
We won't challenge it yet, they're strong in there. Head north, to the cave
just outside town, and talk to the hiker inside. Get the Flash HM from the
hiker and free escape rope from the ground, then head back to town. Talk to the
fisherman outside the gym for an OLD ROD, then go inside for some battling.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
_____
/ \
| STOP! |
\_____/
DO NOT pass this point until you have at least 1 flying Pokémon at Level 17 or
higher, and at least 2 other Pokémon at Level 18 or higher.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+--Good Advide-----------------------------------------------------------------+
| You can get flying pokemon from all over the place, and they will all be |
| useful here. Just go the grassy areas around Petalburg, Petalburg Woods, |
| or Rustboro, and get yourself a Taillow, for a much easier fight. |
+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
First thing you'll notice is that the gym is really dark. Every battle you win
brings in more light, so get to it. Just walk around and let the trainers spot
you. Brawly has a Level 16 Machop, a Level 16 Meditite, and a Level 19
Makuhita. Meditite is easy because it can't attack you if you hurt it, Machop
isn't particularly strong, but Makuhita is tough and could take you some time to
beat. Defeating Brawly will earn you the Musclebadge. Congratulations, that's
two badges down. You also get a TM for Bulk Up, a move which raises attack and
defense. I think it sucks, but some people are in to powering up before you
attack. You can now also use flash out of battle, so leave the gym, heal, and
go back to the cave.
Using Flash makes it look like the gym before you beat Brawly, so you can see
most things. The journey through the cave isn't much of a challenge, so I won't
describe it(just walk away from the ladder you came up in). Just walk in the
same direction as the tunnel. You should catch an Aron or Geodude in here.
Also make sure you grab the stacks of items hidden throughout. Often pressing A
near a lone standing bit of rock results in a free item.
Steven gives you the TM for Steel Wing. Most bird Pokémon can learn this move,
and it is rather strong so use it if you please. Jump the ledges to your right
after talking to Steven for a shortcut to the exit, and then go and talk to Mr
Briney, and get on with our errand.
Ask Mr Briney to take you to Petalburg. You must talk to Mr Stone before you
can deliver the Devon Goods. So go to Rustboro City, talk to Mr Stone and he
will give you and EXP share, a great item which shares around EXP gained in
battles. To use, make a low level Pokémon hold it. Now go back to Mr Briney's
cottage, and ask him to take you to Dewford. When you get there, ask him to
take you to Slateport.
=====
Big city, big battles - Slateport City*
=====
Battle your way up the beach in Slaltport. You may want to enter the building,
where defeating all the trainers and talking to the owner will earn you 6 free
soda pops. When you're done, walk north into the city. On your way to the
Pokémon Centre, you will probably notice the long line of men in black-Team
Aqua. You can't enter the building where they are yet, so go to the shipyard
south of where you are. Talk to the man who looks different from the others,
then leave. If Team Aqua haven't moved yet, go into the building north of the
museum and talk to the woman. Return to the museum and they should have moved.
If not, call Mr Stone using the match call on your pokenav, and then repeat the
previous steps(I did all those things before realising they had gone).
Once you're in the museum, talk to the Team Aqua members, and one will give you
a free TM. After that, go up the stairs to find Capt. Stern. A Team Aqua grunt
will attack you after you give the captain his delivery, take out the grunt with
a grass Pokémon. Win, and the other grunt will attack with a zubat and a
carvanha. After defeating both of them, you can give Capt. Stern the Devon
Goods, and then he will leave. You can now leave the museum. On the way out
you will meet Scott, who you will see again in the future. He seems to follow
you around. If you want to meet him again, go to the flashy looking building
near the Pokémon centre. Apart from that Battle Tent, there is only one other
thing to do in Slateport.
Go to the Pokemart and buy a Harbour Mail. Don't ask why, just do it. Now
leave town through the north exit. Walk north a bit, and after registering the
Prof., you will see a house. Go inside-it is the Trick House. You're being
watched. If you were quick, you would have noticed a flash from near the table.
Walk to were you saw it and press A, as if you are talking to it. If you didn't
see it, go out and try again. I won't go into the Trick House in great depth in
the walkthrough, but there is a special section on it.
Leave the Trick House and head east. This path will take us to a battle with
May, so heal if nessecary. May gives you an ITEMFINDER if you win. This item
does less than it says it does, because you still have to find the hidden items.
It simply beeps if there is a hidden item on the screen. Anyways, head north
past May, and move on to the next city.
=====
Wally, Wattson, and the Winstrates - Mauville City*
=====
Walk in the first house you see to get a free coin case IF you bought Harbour
Mail like I told you to(see the game corner section for uses of the coin case).
Then walk east and get the X speed hidden in the bushes. The X items are bad
because they waste a battle turn, and fade away after battle, so avoid unless
you are using a move like rest. They sell well. Same goes for Dire Hit. Walk
into the house directly north of the X speed for a free Rock Smash HM. This is
a weak attack but a useful HM. Then walk north-east to the bike shop for a free
bike. Damn, there's a lot of free stuff in Mauville.
If you walk to the gym, you might recognise Wally, the kid who we helped out
earlier. Talk to him for an easy battle(well it should be easy). Scott
idolizes you, and why shouldn't he?. Now, you can take on the gym now, or do as
Wally suggested and visit his house. I recommend the training visit. So, head
west out of town.
First thing you'll notice is the Day Care house. Putting Pokémon in day care
makes them gain 1 EXP point per step you take. This is less than it sounds like
(to check EXP status, open your Pokémon's summary in the menu), so don't use day
care to often(its bloody expensive too). Keep walking west, battling as much as
you can, until you reach Verdanturf Town.
There isn't much to do here, so I won't make a new chapter. There is a battle
tent(see the battle tent section for more details), but apart from that there is
little to do. The pokemart is special because it sells 2 rare items - the nest
ball and the fluffy tail. The nest ball is great for weakened Pokémon whilst
the fluffy tail is used to escape from powerful wild Pokémon. You may want to
buy some of these, as they cannot be found anywhere else.
If you go to the bottom left house in town, you will meet a woman who rates how
much your Pokémon likes you. My Pokémon loved me! Go into the tunnel in the
north section of town, and turn left as soon as you get in. Walk out of the
tunnel through the other exit to find yourself in a little clearing with a man
who has lost his glasses. There is also a lost HP UP to be found, an item which
raises your max HP. You will need your Itemfinder to find the glasses, which
are actually an item called blackglasses. The glasses are located 5 steps east
from the west wall, so walk 5 steps and press A. Talk to the man after finding
the blackglasses and he will leave. Blackglasses are a hold item that power up
Dark type moves. You can now go back to Verdanturf town, and then back to
Mauville.
East of town, there is a beach with a few trainers. North of town, there is
more. Battle the two trainers on the way north(for EXP), then, if you are ready
go inside the Winstrate house. This house belongs to a family of trainers, who
get progressively harder as you go through them. After beating all four, you
can go in and get a Macho Brace from the mum. See the EV guide for more info.
Once you've trained as much as possible, enter Mauville Gym!

DO NOT pass this point until you have 4 Pokémon all at Level 22 or higher, and,
if possible, a ground type Pokémon of a similar Level.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+--Good Advide-----------------------------------------------------------------+
| Thanks to The Mondo Gamer for this strategy. To help you in this gym, go to |
| Dewford Cave, and catch a Geodude. Level it up to Level 25. By now, it |
| should have evolved to Graveller (Level 20/22, it differs with some game |
| versions), and learnt a ground type attack (Magnitude, I believe...but even |
| Mud Slap could suffice if it was strong enough). The gym should now be |
| considerably easier to beat. |
+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
The gym is set up with barriers throughout. You need to step on switches on
the floor to swap the barriers. There are usually trainers guarding the
barriers though, so beat them first. They aren't that hard compared to Wattson.
His electric Pokémon are strong. He has a Level 20 Voltorb which likes using
selfdestruct, a Level 20 Electrike, a Level 22 Magneton, and a Level 24
Manectric. He is extremely hard to beat, and it may take a few attempts to win.
When you win, you are rewarded with the Dynamobadge, and a TM for Shock Wave.
This is a cool move which NEVER misses. Use it well.
You should have taught Rock Smash to someone by now. Go to the Rusturf tunnel
in Verdanturf town, and use Rock Smash to brake down the boulders in there.
Doing this will earn you a HM for Strength. This HM allows you to move
boulders, but requires the fourth badge. Leave the tunnel, and go back to
Mauville. Then head north, using Rock Smash to get further than you could
before.
Notice the TV crew just after the rocks. Battling them will result in an
interview, which will result in you being on TV. Be sure to watch the TV
program about yourself inside a house with a TV. Continue north until you reach
the sandstorm. It is so vicious that it is impossible to keep going. So head
west. You will soon reach Mt Chimney, but the cable car is blocked by Team
Magma. So head through the tunnel to the west.
Fiery Path is quick and easy. You can't push the boulder yet, you need another
badge, so continue north. You will exit in berry heaven, pick as many berries
as you can, then go east. Keep going north, and you will see a kid near a tree.
Talk to him for a free TM. You will also notice that you by-passed the
sandstorm. After collecting the berries, head west, and you will enter the soot
fields. These fields are famous for the hidden ninjas that are found here.
They hide in piles of dirt, as do items. Press A to the piles of dirt if you
dare! Walk into the house towards the end of the fields to get a free soot
sack. This sack collects soot from grassy patches, and when you have enought,
can be used for glass blowing. Return to this house occasionally to see how
much soot you need for the glass blowing to happen. Continue west, you're
almost there.
=====
Aqua v.s. Magma - Fallarbor Town*
=====
This town is home to many interesting things, and lots of stuff to do. There is
also a battle tent, and the home of the "Move Tutor". He wants a heart scale
in
exchange for his services, but you can't get one yet. Don't worry, we'll come
back when we get one. The word on the street in Fallarbor is that Prof. Cozmo
has been taken away by Team Magma. Sounds like he needs rescuing, so get to it.
Head west, and talk to the man with the dog for a TM. Then cross the bridge
south. The house you can see belongs to the owner of the Pokémon storage
system, Lannette. If you (like me) haven't use it so far, you don't know what
you're missing. Go south, battling trainers, and start climbing the mountain.
Smash the rock to get some Protein, an item which raises attack for ever. Then
go to the other side of the mountain and continue up. Go into Meteor Falls,
turn left, and you will find the professor surrounded by Team Magma. Walk up to
Team Magma, and Team Aqua will arrive. They will sort things out, just listen
to what they say so you know what to do next. Talk to Prof Cozmo to confirm
your mission; you must go to Mt Chimney.
Earlier in the journey we travelled through Fiery Path to get to Fallarbor. Now
go back to Fallarbor, head east, past the soot fields, and then go south to
where the sandstorm starts. Then head west, back into the fiery path.
Travel south through the path, until you get out at the cable car. If you walk
north, you will realise that there are no grunts in your way this time. So walk
up into the cable car. When you get off the cable car, you will see that the 2
teams are fighting. Walk north to find Archie stuck against 3 Magmas. Walk west
and find some Magmas not fighting. Fight them, and then go north to find Maxie.
Maxie has a Level 24 Mightyena, a Level 25 Camerupt, and a Level 24 Zubat. She
isn't harder that Wattson, in fact she is easier. Beat her to ruin Team Magma's
plans of erupting the volcano. Take the meteorite from the mysterious machine,
and than go back to the cable car. Don't go inside the car though, continue
south into the Jagged Pass. By the way, returning the meteorite to Prof. Cozmo
will earn you a reward.
If you have an Acro Bike, you will be able to bunny hop on some of the rocks in
Jagged Pass. Do this by holding down B. Don't worry about the Team Magam
grunt, but remember where he is standing. Go down the pass to get into
Lavaridge Town.
=====
HOT HOT HOT springs - Lavaridge Town*
=====
Lavaridge Town is home to the ledgendary Hot Springs. These can be accessed
through the back door of the Pokémon centre. It is also home to the Pokémon
Herb Shop, a place you should avoid unless poverty stricken. There is a gym
here, and the opportunity to get an egg! To get the egg, talk to the old woman
in the sand. The egg will hatch into a Level 5 Wynaut(which evolves into
a powerful Wobuffet)when you have walked a lot.
A good place to walk to is the gym. This gym is the biggest so far, and is
inhabited by fire Pokémon users. A water or rock Pokémon will be great in here,
as will burn heal. The holes in the ground are like teleporters. Sometimes, a
trainer will come out of one, but sometimes travelling through them is problem
free.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DO NOT pass this point until you have a water/ground Pokémon at Level 24 or
higher, and at least 3 other Pokémon at Level 24 or higher.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you first walk into the gym, take the hole furtherest from you, and nearest
to Flannery. Then go down, between the two trainers(in holes), and into the
bottom hole. You can see a triangular formation. The right and bottom holes
are trainers, and the left hole takes you back were you just were. Go up and
take the left hole. Take the left hole again, and then take the hole on the
left but near the middle. Take the first hole, then the hole on the right.
Jump the ledge and take the hole, and you will end up in front of Flannery.
Flannery has a Level 24 Numel, a Level 24 Slugma, a Level 25 Camerupt, and a
Level 29 Torkoal. Keep using water/rock/ground moves and you'll be fine. See
the gym leaders FAQ for more info. When you win, you get the Heatbadge, and a
TM for Overheat. The downside of Overheat is that your Special Attack goes down
when you use it, so it becomes less powerful. When you leave the gym, May will
give you a gift-The Go Goggles-which allow you to walk in the sandstorm. This
is useful. If you listened to Flannery when you beat her, you will know that
the next gym leader is your dad. So its off to Petalburg City.
=====
Dad and you, mono e mono - Petalburg City (second visit)*
=====
Walk east, jump the ledges instead of taking the cable car, and then walk south
into Mauville. You now have two options. You can either go east, take Rusturf
tunnel, and then walk south through Petalburg woods from Rustboro City. Or you
can continue south to Slateport, then let Mr Briney take you to Dewford, then on
to Petalburg. It's your choice.

DO NOT pass this point until you have a fighting/rock Pokémon(if possible, not
compulsory) at Level 27 or higher, and at least 3 other Pokémon at Level 27 or
higher.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Petalburg City gym is my favourite by a long shot. The trainers in here use all
types of Pokémon, but mainly the normal type. Each room in the gym is home to a
trainer with a specialty. For example, the first two rooms are the Speed Room
and the Accuracy Room. The room name indicates what is special about the
trainer's Pokémon. Here is a diagram of the rooms:
Start-Accuracy-Recovery
| | |
Speed-Defense-One hit KO
| | |
Confusion-Strength-Leader's Room
Norman (your Father) is much stronger than the previous trainers. He has a
Level 27 Spinda, a Level 27 Vigoroth, a Level 29 Linoone, and a Level 31
Slaking. The first two are easy with any fighting Pokémon attack (except Rock
Smash!) Linoone will use a move called belly drum, which cuts HP but maximises
attack. Then Norman will use a hyper potion. You must take Linoone out in
those two turns, or he will destroy you. Slaking's special ability only lets it
attack every second turn, so recover/attack in that time. Beating Norman will
earn you the Balancebadge, and a TM for Facade, a move which doubles in strength
if you are poisoned/burned/paralyzed.
After winning, Wally's dad will take you away from the gym, and give you a Surf
HM. This lets you travel across water! Teach it to a water Pokémon.
Now that you can surf, it's time to head east from Mauville. In case you don't
read you Pokenav, east from Mauville is the way to the next city, but there is
water in the way. This means we can use surf! Mr Briney won't take you to
Slateport because he has decided to take a hike, so you can go through Petalburg
woods or surf east from north of Oldale town.
=====
Really really long grass - Mauville to Fortree Hike*
=====
Wattson is standing in the middle of Mauville Town. He wants you to complete
a sub quest for him. The quest - turning off Mauville's power generator, is
easy, and I won't describe it. When you succeed, Wattson will give you a
Thunderbolt TM. There is also a Thunderstone inside New Mauville, right next to
the generator.
Surf east from Mauville, and you will soon hit land again. Talk to the
fisherman for a good rod, a rod which can catch more Pokémon than the old rod.
Then walk east. Steven will talk to you about raising Pokémon, then walk away.
Don't worry, you'll meet him again. Cut the tree and get the four sitrus
berries. Siturs berries do three times what oran berries do, they cure 30HP.
If you walk east, you will see a hyper potion. Get it, then jump the leadge
and continue east. You will arrive at the Berry Master's house. The berry
master is a man who loves to give away berries, so go get some. Come back
tomorrow for some more. There is a two on two battle further east, but that is
as far as you can go. Go west, back toward the water.
Go north at the split in the ledges, and you will encounter super long grass for
the first time. This grass is similar to normal long grass, but it is almost
impossible to see trainers in it. Approach with caution. There are several
items hidden in gaps in the grass, but they can't be seen.
The majority of the trainers in the super long grass are mimicers. After you
beat one, they will start mimicing your every move. This makes them almost im-
possible to battle. When you continue north you will come to a white ledge. If
you have an acro bike, you can use its stunt features to get across this ledge.
There is usually good stuff on the other side.
After walking across the bridge on top of the rock formation, continue north for
more trainers and super long grass. It gets a bit repetitive after a while.
If you challenge the two on two trainers, you will get an item. You will also
notice a sandy slope. If you have a mach bike, you can climb this slope with a
little run up.
Continue north and you will see the weather institute. Oh my god! its Team
Aqua. Better go inside and investigate. The bed in the top left corner of
level one will act like a Pokémon centre, while the PC is the same as one found
in town. Work your way upstairs, defeating the grunts as you go. You may wish
to go back to the bed before battling the final Aqua Admin.
When you win, Team Aqua will have a "situation". Team Magma are off to Mt
Pyre.
Off course, this means nothing to you for now, so claim your free Pokémon from
the weather institute boss. Now would be a really good time to take a rest,
because you are about to battle May.
Cross the bridge outside, then get the elixer down the southern stairs. Go
north, and who should you stumble upon but May, cycling hard across the bridge.
May has a Lombre(unless she started with grass), a Slugma(unless she started
with fire) and a Wingull(unless she started with water). Basically, replace her
starter with one of these Pokémon to determine her team. She is harder than
last time you battled(Rustboro city), and about as hard as the Aqua Admin.
Defeating May will earn you a HM for Fly. Now you can fly from city to city
(actually, this requires another badge).
Scott will praise you a bit more(I swear he is a stalker in disguise), and then
you can head north. The next sign will tell you that you are almost in Fortree
City, so keep going north. When you can see berry trees, it means its time to
turn east. Do so, and before you know it you will enter Fortree City.
=====
Steven v.s. invisiblity. Who will win? - Fortree City*
=====
The people of Fortree City live on treetops. However, something on the ground
is bothering them. There are several invisible barriers throughout town, in-
cluding one in front of the gym. You may have encountered one of these just
south of the berry bushes mentioned at the end of the previous chapter.
If you go in the northern row of houses, and enter the second house, you will
have the chance to get a hidden power TM. Talk to the lady, and correctly guess
which hand the coin is in three times. I think this is totally random, so good
luck. The man in that house will teach sleep talk to a Pokémon, this move makes
a good combo if anyone knows rest.
By now you must be itching to challenge the gym, so here's how to do it. Walk
east, out of town, and you will soon come to a bridge. On that bridge is non
other than Steven. Talk to him and all will be revealed. By using his Devon
Scope, invisible Pokémon become visible. This isn't the only chance you will
get to catch a Kecleon, but it is the most powerful, so try to.
Steven gives you the Devon Scope and flies off. Now you can remove the Kecleon
blocking your entry into the gym. So go back to Fortree.
Using your Devon Scope, you can get rid of the Kecleon blocking your entry into
the gym. Once you have done that, go inside.

DO NOT pass this point until you have an electric/rock Pokémon at Level 28 or
higher, and at least 4 other Pokémon at Level 29 or higher, or 3 other Pokémon

Fortree Gym is a very tricky gym to navigate in. This is because of the
rotating devices planted throughout the gym. To rotate a device, walk up to it
and continue walking in a way that will cause it to spin. It will not spin if
there is a wall or trainer in the way. This gym is tricky, so I'll go into more
detail then others. Walk west, and through the first barrier. Continue through
the second, then go north. Push this larger device west using the small bit
sticking out south, then walk around and avoid the trainers.
Now for the first trick puzzle. To do this, push the small bit at the top of
lower device. Then, spin the upper device the only way you can(by walking west)
Go back to the lower device and hit the big arm, then the same small bit as last
time. Spin the upper device north, and you're done.
There's one more trainer(after the unavoidables above the previous puzzle), so
battle him. If you don't, you'll find yourself trying to dodge him and complete
a puzzle at the same time. After beating him, push the left device by moving
the bottom bit. Then, push the right device so you can walk up past it. Push
the top device, then walk back down through the left one. Now go through the
right device again, and walk through the opening.
Note: If you're Pokémon aren't up to Winona's level, you don't have to battle
her. Just skip to the next chapter, and come back later. However, you won't
be able to fly until you beat her.
Finally, we've reached Winona. Damn, Winona is hard to beat. She has a Level
29 Swablu(easy), a Level 29 Tropius, a Level 29 Skarmory, a Level 30 Pelipper,
and a Level 33 Altaria. When you beat Winona, you recieve the Featherbadge,
and a TM for aerial ace(an unavoidable attack). Congratulations, you've beaten
the second hardest leader(the eight is extraordianrily easy).
You can now leave Fortree, and travel to Lilycove
=====
It's raining, it's poring - Fortree to Lilycove Hike*
=====
Walk east out of Lilycove, back to where you got the Devon Scope from Steven.
Walk south off the bridge and it will start raining. Your water Pokémon will
now be more effective in battle. Walk south, battling trainers as you go. Try
to catch an Absol or Poochyena in this area, you'll need them arond Level 33 for
the next gym. Watch out for ninjas hidden in trees as you walk.
Walk south for more long grass. You can't cycle throgh the grass, so keep
