You don't need to catch Snorlax right away. Instead of heading east on Route 11, head back
to Cerulean City and head east along Route 9, Route 10, through Rock Tunnel, into Lavender
Town, west along Route 7, through the East-West Underground P***age, past Route 8, and
into Celadon City, the location of the fourth Gym Badge.

After receiving your Fourth Badge and after you have cleared out Rocket Game Corner and
received the Silph Scope, head back to Lavender Town and ascend the Pokemon Tower. Bring
something with strong Dark-, Ghost-, or Psychich-type moves, as wild Gastly are common.
There are several trainers that use Gastly and Haunter.

At the top of the tower, Mr. Fuji is held captive by some Team Rocket Members. Defeat
them, then talk to Mr. Fuji; he'll give you the Pokeflute to wake up Snorlax.

To get to Fuschia City, there are two ways you can go, both of which have a Snorlax
blocking the way. West of Celadon City is Cycling Road (Routes 16-18), which is shorter,
but requires a bicycle to travel. South of Lavender is Silence Bridge (Route 12-15), which
has more trainers for valuable experience, as well as more wild pokemon and better items.
