The flutes help a lot, get the soot sack from glass work shop and go to Fallarbor Town and pick up some super repel from the mart then go back to the ashes in the grasses and use one of the super repels until you run out of repels then go back to the work shop. This helps not to run in to pokemon you already have

Blue flute - awakens sleeping pokemon
Yellow flute - snaps pokemon out to confusion
Red flute - snaps pokemon out to attraction
Black flute - try to get the other flutes
