Version History |==o==| \___/ ---------------------------------------------------------------- \___/ [qncpd] Version 2.7 - The main chance is that I removed some movesets of the Moveset setion. Only last stage Pokemons are in that setion from now on. Instead of a moveset for Treecko, Grovyle and Sceptile I have a moveset only for Sceptile. Version 2.62 - The great and bigger version, I consider it the nearer of what GameFAQ autorhs name as final version. I took some stuff out the Pokemon Math setion which now is named Important setion. I made that because in my mind players don't intereset so much for formuls, but so in data, ways and explanations. I modified Pokemon Contest setion and took all that contest effects out. There's no more that in because I thought unnecessary and I will no mention that because for a Contest you need an in-depth guide. Another update is that Absol's moveset in setion 24.2 was wrong, so I corrected it because Crunch was one of the moves in and actually Absol can't have this move nor by level, EM, TM or movetutor. You can notice the contest chart is bigger because I changed it a bit. Version 2.0 - I corrected my damage type moves attack and lots of Gramar mistakes. Thanks for msantos10 for warning me about electric moves on rock and steel. Actually I knew the right, but for any reason I had put them wrongly. Anyways, if it wasn't for him... thanks, so. Version 1.3 - I made some changes in the Pokemon Math topic. Version 1.0 - I began to do the walkthrough. I wanted very much to write a walkthrough of Pokemon, so I thought on start with R/B/Y, but we are in Advance generation, so better trying FR/LG, and for any reason I began Ruby and Sapphire versions. There's much else than types and such, besides what I had played so much Stadium and now I'm impressed with so many news. I took months at GBA emulator up to now to start on writing a walkthrough. What I didn't find, like legendaries and some items, for example, I researched in websites and walkthroughs of other people, and looking for facts I could finish it. ___ ___ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------- / \ |==o==| 2. Legal Info |==o==| \___/ ---------------------------------------------------------------- \___/ [itrdo] By making much effort and patience I could make this walkthrough up and it wasn't a easy task mostly when I decided to put the Pokedex in. This is a Copyrights document and was registered, due that you can't modifiy it as well as nor post it on your website withouth my permission. Nowadays only the websites below have permission to post this file: www.gamefaqs.com www.oriongames.com ___ ___ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------- / \ |==o==| 3. Introduction |==o==| \___/ ---------------------------------------------------------------- \___/ [qncpd] Ruby and Sapphire amused me for a long time until Emerald comes over. Ruby is so cool as Sapphire although most of the time I played R/S I had chosen Sapphire because I really love it, so my walkthrough is directed to both versions although Sapphire is the title name of it and also some scenes I'll mention Team Aqua instead Team Magma, for example, and that's not an impediment to you do not use this walkthrough if you're at Ruby. More 135 Pokemons were added to a new region, the Advance generation brought out many news and inovations to Pokemon world, which now is overdiversified. ___ ___ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------- / \ |==o==| 4. Ruby e Sapphire |==o==| \___/ ---------------------------------------------------------------- \___/ [rbesp] Ruby and Sapphire was released at 2002 in Japan, and later at 2003 in United States and after to the whole world. This is not important, but here I like to say some historic knowledge. §:P These both versions are subsequent of Gold, Silver and Crystal versions, which were inaugurated in GameBoy Color, and now Ruby and Sapphire inaugurate in GameBoy Advance. Game Freak invested in innovations and said these versions would be different ones. Many additions beyond the new Pokémons, of course. In G/S/C come out 100 new Pokémons, but in R/S Game Freak overcame, 135 new Pokémons came out, totaling 386 Pokémons. Some of the new Pokémons didn't please the fans because they don't remember the face of the ancient Pokémons, like Pikachu, and some of them remember very much the competitive series, Digimon. Even though, it's worth playing. At beginning you can find strange, as I did, but soon you'll familiarize with them. There is Beautifly, that remembers Butterfree, Corphish, that does Krabby, and Sealeo, that remembers Dewgong, for example. ====================== 4.1. Ruby vs. Sapphire [rbvsp] ====================== The differences between Ruby and Sapphire are much if compared to the previous versions. As long as G/S and R/B/Y the difference was just the exclusive Pokémons, here the differences raised. The villains changes depending on the version you play, some important items too, and besides the more important legendary of that version. Ruby Version | Sapphire Version ============ | ================ Team Magma is villain | Team Aqua is villain Maxie, the Magma leader | Archie, the Aqua leader Magma Hideout | Aqua Hideout Red Tent | Blue Tent Red Orb | Blue Orb Groudon | Kyogre My walkthrough has Sapphire version as base, but that doesn't impede you do use it for Ruby version. The differences are mentioned above and very clear. Instead of Magma Hideout in Ruby you have Aqua Hideout in Sapphire. When I say Team Aqua considers Team Magma, and vice-versa. The Team Magma isn't exclusive of Ruby and Team Aqua isn't exclusive of Sapphire. Both teams appear up in both versions. In Ruby Team Magma has Team Aqua as rival. In Sapphire just invert the situation. ======================= 4.2. Exclusive Pokémons [pkexc] ======================= As it's typical of Nintendo, some Pokémons are exclusive of a right version. This is a sale tactic, and also a way to make the players entertain themselves by trading one with each other. These trades are realized with a link cable, which you use to connect a GameBoy to other. Below the versions and their respective exclusive Pokémons. Ruby Version Sapphire Version ============ ================ Seedot < Lotad Nuzleaf < Lombre Shiftry < Ludicolo Zangoose > Seviper Solrock < Lunatone Mawile < Sableye Latios = Latias Groudon < Kyogre Each Pokémon is in front of the other one which isn't in the version this one in. For example, instead Zangoose in Ruby you can have Seviper in Sapphire. Instead of Seedot in Ruby you have Lotad in Sapphire. Get it? Choose the version that contains the best Pokémons and begin to play. I myself prefer the Sapphire version because of the Pokémons. Once Kyogre is on advantage to Groudon, water against ground. But this isn't a reason to you do not play Ruby. Maybe you prefer this one instead of my preference. I also played Ruby a lot; it was the first one I played. ===================== 4.3. Changes of G/S/C [mdgsc] ===================== From G/S/C to R/S many things have change. First, the platform is other. G/S/C, as games of GameBoy Color, had a square screen and few colors, however it has fun us. Now R/S to Gameboy Advance you can notice the sound is clearer and alive colors. but the platform wasn't the only thing that changed, of course the game had some changes itself, and many ones. See them below: 1. You can't visit the previous islands. You remember in G/S/C you could come back to Kanto region and fight to the ancient gym leaders? Here in this new version you can neither visit Johto and nor Kanto. 2. 135 new Pokémons, totaling now 386 Pokémons. 3. There's no Team Rocket here. Though you find Team Magma and Team Aqua, which are not evil, they just have exaggerating plans that interfere at ecosystem. 4. You don't choose the name of your rival. If you're a boy your rival is May. If you're a girl your rival is Brendan. 5. Double battles (two of your Pokémons against two opponent's Pokémon) are the huge news. It's necessary at least two Pokémons to participate in one kind of battle like that. The two first ones are switched out. 6. Berries get back from G/S/C, however with a change, now you need to plan them you want some more of that berry. 7. Each Pokémon has an ability now. It's an effect that is activated in battle or out it always helping your Pokémon. 8. Natures are other Pokémon that each Pokémon has now. It will influence in the raising of one stat and in the decrease of other one. There are 16. 9. Pokémon Contest is the new place where trainers can bring their Pokémon to compete the best in such attribute. You also the combination of attacks that are evaluated by the judge and depending on how much the audience gets impressed. 10. You can build for you a Secret Base. It's like your second house. 11. If you have the Running Shoes you can run by holding the B button. 12. Spikes move has triple damage if used three times. The opponent suffer a triplicate damage which is approximately 12~15% when switched out. 13. New weather effect: Hail. Damage in all non-ice type Pokémon. 14. In some places will rain and the battle will be affected by it like Rain Dance. The same for a strong sun light, that interferes in battle like the move Sunny Day. 15. Rock Smash now is HM06. HM06 Whirlpool is no longer a HM nor TM. 16. Flash doesn't illuminate all the screen, just a round area around you. 17. A new HM, HM08 Dive, used to dive into underwater caves. 18. Sky Attack has 30% changes to cause the foe to flinch. 19. Low Kick has a dependent damage that varies with foe's height. 20. In the Summary Screen of you Pokémon you can see in full detail how you obtained it: place, level and the ball used to catch him. 21. Roulette Game added at Game Corner. 22. Removed the Card-Flip game off the Game Corner. 23. Instead of call the opponent of "enemy" now it's called "foe". 24. The name of the badges has a space (Stone Badge instead of Stonebadge). 25. There are two bikes instead one, and you choose which you one you want to pedal. The difference between they two is the maneuvers and speed. 26. The Pokémon doesn't animate when switched out or seen in Pokédex. :( 27. A icon to each Pokémon instead one to the egg group. :) 28. The badly poison can be reverted if the Pokémon is switched out. 29. The PC glitters when accessed. 30. Two words that composed the specie now have been separated (like Dodrio was Triplebird and now is Triple Bird). Any change I haven't found? E-mail me. ===================== 4.4. Absente Pokémons [pkast] ===================== The Pokémons below are not in Ruby nor in Sapphire. If you wanted to catch one of them trade with Fire Red/Leaf Green, or use GameShark. Most of the Pokémon of Gold and Silver can be obtained with Pokémon Collosseum disc bonus. ** Absent Pokémon: ** Bulbasaur Ivysaur Venusaur Charmander Charmeleon Charizard Squirtle Wartortle Blastoise Caterpie Metapod Butterfree Weedlee Kakuna Beedrill Pidgey Pidgeotto Pidgeot Rattata Raticate Spearow Fearow Ekans Arbok Nidoran F Nidorina Nidoqueen Nidoran M Nidorino Nidoking Cleffa Clefairy Clefable Paras Parasect Venonat Venomoth Diglett Dugtrio Meowth Persian Mankey Primeape Growlithe Arcanine Poliwag Poliwhirl Poliwrath Politoed Bellsprout Weepinbell Victreebel Ponyta Rapidash Slowpoke Slowbro Slowking Farfetch'd Seel Dewgong Shellder Cloyster Gastly Haunter Gengar Onix Steelix Drowzee Hypno Krabby Kingler Exeggcute Exeggutor Cubone Marowak Tyrogue Hitmontop Hitmonlee Hitmonchan Lickitung Chansey Blissey Tangela Kangaskhan Mr. Mime Scyther Scizor Smoochum Jynx Elekid Electabuzz Magby Magmar Tauros Lapras Ditto Eevee Vaporeon Jolteon Flareon Umbreon Espeon Porygon Porygon2 Omanyte Omastar Kabuto Kabutops Aerodactyl Snorlax Moltres Zapdos Moltres Dratini Dragonair Dragonite Mewtwo Mew Chikorita Bayleef Meganium Cyndaquil Quilava Typhlosion Totodile Croconaw Feraligatr Sentret Furret Hoothoot Noctowl Ledyba Ledian Spinarak Ariados Togepi Togetic Mareep Flaaffy Ampharos Sudowoodo Hoppip Skiploom Jumpluff Aipom Sunkern Sunflora Yanma Wooper Quagsire Murkrow Misdreavus Unown Pineco Forretress Dunsparce Gligar Snubbul Granbull Qwilfish Shuckle Sneasel Teddiursa Ursaring Swinub Piloswine Remoraid Octillery Delibird Mantine Houndour Houndoom Stantler Smeargle Miltank Suicune Entei Raikou Larvitar Pupitar Tyranitar Lugia Ho-oh Celebi ___ ___ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------- / \ |==o==| 5. Basics |==o==| \___/ ---------------------------------------------------------------- \___/ [bsics] The Basic section is going to explain for you basic things of the game: how to battle, rules and such things. Therefore if this is the first time you're playing Pokémon, don't pass over this section, and pass through it in a good reading. Read it carefully and you'll be able to understand the basics of the game. ============= 5.1. Controls [cnrls] ============= D-Pad - move A – confirm B – cancel, hold to run, do tricks L – can be used as A button at Options menu R – not used Start – brings the Menu up Select – use a registered item ==================== 5.2. Pokémon Battles [btpkm] ==================== You have already heard the Pokémon fights. Of course, the Pokémon knows incredible things. The Pokémon when fighting others Pokémons are doing a Pokémon battle. And there are two essential types of Pokémon battle, the wild battles and trainer battles. There are little and important differences between these two types of battle. Wild Pokémon Battles: Trainer Battles: --------------------- ---------------- 1. You can catch the Pokémon. 1. You can't catch the Pokémon. 2. You can run away. 2. You can't run away. 3. There's no reward for winning. 3. There's reward for you winning. Knowing how to battle, whatever wild Pokémon or trainer, the menu of the battle screen is the same for the both types of battle. And you have always four options, se what each one does. ------------- | FIGHT BAG | |
