Most likely, your question has been answered in this section. If not, I will answer it via e-mail assuming it isn't answered elsewhere in my FAQ. Check www.GameFAQs.com for the latest version of this FAQ. Disclaimer: These are not officially released codes. Use them at your own risk. All codes were tested on the emulator Visualboy Advance v1.3.1. We are not responsible for lost data or corrupted games. You have been warned! 9-02-03 If you use any codes on your game and wish to play the gamecube "Pokemon Colliseum" game with your cartridge, please back up your save file. Nintendo is cranking the rumor mill saying they put a new chip in collisseum which can detect hacked games and delete them. We have no idea how they will implement this if it's even true. In case they are the evil geniuses they say they are, we will work on finding a solution to this problem. Do not e-mail me about this. I will update this section when we know for sure and if/when we have a fix for it. If you have a Gameshark SP, You need to find Codebreaker codes for it. Gameshark got bought out by a company which is using the exact same format as Codebreaker. They may look different than the stuff posted at www.cmgsccc.com, but that is due to them using an encryption line in their master codes. Use cmgsccc.com's master code with cmgsccc.com's codes and it willwork just fine! You should probably also get xyzman's pokemon calculator at That program supports all known code fomats at this time. [Thanx megamanx and kenobi at www.gscentral.com] You need to have the correct master codes entered and activated first ONLY if you are playing the actual cartridge on an actual Gameboy Advance. If you have a GSA or PAR device, read the instructions which came with it. The device must be on before you boot up the game. As long as the master code is entered, you can enter any of the codes, but i would recommend you enter and use the codes one code or code group at a time. Codes may conflict with eachother otherwise. Also read my notes on codes designated "type 6" as these codes must be entered and used ONLY with the master code activated and ONLY one at a time. If you have european versions of these games and the codes aren't working correctly, it is because you need a different set of master codes. Memory-wise, the European versions and US version are identical and VBA save files (*.sav) are interchangable between US and European games. Look for your version in the master code list below the index. I have recieved confirmation that all codes except for the new species wild mod codes (3-line type 6), work on a real GBA. At least for the US versions. Make certain you use the correct master codes. These codes are for use with and ONLY with either a Gameshark Advance(TM) or Pro-Action Replay(TM) device* which are designed specifically for the Gameboy Advance (TM). They will not work with your Gameshark(TM) for Gameboy(TM) or Gameboy Color(TM), or any other device INCLUDING Codebreaker(TM) and GameShark Advance SP. If you read this and ignore it, then use the wrong device with these codes, and your game gets damaged, and you e-mail me about it, all I will ask is that you do not reproduce because you may contaminate the gene pool. Let me re-iterate about Codebreaker: These codes DO NOT work on a Codebreaker device of any kind. Codebreaker is a completely different format. It uses different code types and a different encryption method than GameShark or Pro-Action Replay. There may be issues with older versions of GameShark Advance. The device is still being made contrary to the rumor I heard, however, you may have problems with these games if you have an older device. I reccomend v1.2 or higher of the GSA Software. This refers to your Gameshark version number as well. If you have anything lower than that and you cannot upgrade to the latest version, buy a new device! *Well it's official: Datel and gameshark are 2 different companies now with 2 different code formats. If you have a gameshark device, don't worry as long as it's up-to-date. If you have a new Pro-Action Replay device with v3 software, you're...how do I put it...SCREWED!!! AAAHAHAHAHAHAA!!! >ahem! < Actually, I've done my best to try and convert all of my codes into ARv3 format. Most of them work. Button activated codes may not. Use codes marked "PAR" if you have a v3 device such as Pro action Replay, or an old upgraded Gameshark Advance. Another note: Most of these codes do not need to be run every time you boot up the game. If you use a code to get a certain item, enter the code, run the game, save, then turn off the game, remove the device, turn the game on again, and re-load and the item will still be there. Same with any captured pokes. In fact, leaving codes on may cause problems. It may even damage your GSA/PAR device. A note about "type 6" codes. If a code is designated as "type 6", it means that you cannot use it with any other code other than it's self and the master code. Also, you must re-boot the game after the type 6 code is removed in order to use other codes afterwards. Do not combine "type 6" codes with any other codes besides the master code. That includes any other "type 6" code. 4-10-03: I am no longer taking requests for the Japanese codes. I've included them here instead. If you have the Japanese version, go to "Japanese version codes" section. Use "Edit"-> "find" in notepad or in your browser to find that phrase. Please don't e-mail me about requesting codes which are already included in the FAQ. 4-05-03: Some of the requests I get are: Stats codes: The data for this is encrypted so it cannot be done by a single set of codes. Southern island event: Pokemonhacker made a code set to enable this event. If it's not here, please consult LoadingNOW's FAQ which is on GameFAQs. I'm not updating PokemonHacker's FAQ because it got it's own hosting now as LoadingNOW's FAQ. You can't go to the island just because you gave yourself an eon ticket. You'll need his Codes to enable the event (that is until Nintendo gives away the secret of how to enable it) Other move teaching codes: The only ones we know right now is the move maniac codes. The other codes from the Japanese version were type 6 and would not work on a real GBA. My Goal for this FAQ is to make real codes that everyone can use. shiny pokemon codes: Please consult LoadingNOW's FAQ for a method to obtain any Shiny poke you want. No there will not be any other shiny wild mod unless someone discovers a better method. Permanent stat modifier codes for your pokes: Why can't this be done? Because pokemon data is stored in a block of 20 codes which is encrypted. The encryption key is based on certain data about the trainer and the poke it's self. There is a checksum that has to be re-computed whenever you play around with this block of data. On top of all that, there is something called a MAP value which tells the data block what address controlls what stat. It is different for every individual poke and there is no way to tell what your Poke's MAP is without viewing the memory of your specific save-state in your game. This discovery lead people to develop programs called pokemon Calculators to generate legitamate sets of values for these blocks of addresses and then convert them into a set of codes for your code device. If you want one, check our thread on the forums at www.gameFAQs.com. Please don't e-mail me about these requests. Also please don't request them at www.cmgsccc.com. It is slowing us down and geting on our nerves. If you have any ideas as to where these codes might be found, then you may post about them or e-mail me about them. When we say that Nintendo might know that you hacked your game with our codes, we mean that if you try and enter a tournament with a sharked game, you may be disqualified for cheating. Nintendo went through alot of trouble to encrypt these games' data so they are probably smart enough to spot a cheater! Please don't ask me questions about where to find what, or what to do after such and such a gym. I publish codes but I'm not a walking encyclopedia on the game. If you want that kind of advice, either look through the FAQs yourself, or go to the www.GameFAQs.com forums and ask there. I refuse to answer anymore questions reguarding the game it's self unless it has relevance to the FAQ. Finally, Ru/Sa is nothing like R/B/Y/G/S/C. Codes from those games cannot be ported over to Ru/Sa. The data structures are completely diferent. Another note about e-mailing me with complaints of codes not working: 1. check to see if you can get any of my other codes to work 2. Let me know if you used an emulator or a real GBA 3. Let me know if you are playing the US version or the japanese version, even if it's partially translated. 4. Let me know how you entered the codes if you used an emulator (see tutorial below) 5. Let me know if you used the master codes if you used a real GBA and also let me know how you labeled them. Don't use M, (M), (m) or m as the name of the master code or the game will not let you active it (Thank you Tahnok from www.gameFAQs.com). 6. Let me know if the game or device did anything after you entered the codes. I've been getting alot of people finding out they were using their device incorrectly. 7. Let me know what version you have of the device. It's useful to know what Software version you are using. 8. Let me know WHAT codes you were using and how you were using them. i.e. were you using a wild pokemon modifier code and the infinite masterballs code at the same time? You shouldn't be if you read all the notes about how "Type 6" codes cannot be used in conjuction with other codes. Don't be embarassed if you did, but let me know because that info can help me fix your problem. 9. If you are requesting a code in your e-mail, you must specify all the above relevant information (game version, game language, cheat device and version). Otherwise, I can only tell you how to find it in my FAQ if it's there. If you are still having problems, please consult the www.Gscentral.com forums or www.gameshark.com for tech support. A note about codebreaker codes or the pokemon calculator: For any questions reguarding either Codebreaker or the calculator program, please consult the boards at www.cmgsccc.com. For the pokemon calculator specifically, e-mail Gavin at spaffoda.hotmail.com. For xyzman's calculator, consult the gameFAQs.com forums. Why do I have to make all these restrictions? Because I recieve 20-30 e-mails a day ever since I wrote this FAQ! I have a hotmail account with limited storage! I will help trouble-shoot your devices. If multiple people ask me the same question, I'll answer it here assuming it is relevant to the FAQ. Type 6 codes are proving to be our only hurdle for people with real GBAs. We are trying to find alternative "normal codes" to replace them. In the mean-time, Any help in fixing this issue is appreciated. We don't have any hardware to work with so all testing will have to be done by you. Type-6 refers to codes that write to the ROM instead of the RAM where your save-states and player data are stored. The ROM is the game it's self in a sense, however you can't write to a cartridge. Instead, the code looks for the area in the memory where the game is read and interpreted. Then it intercepts at the right moment and changes the interpretation. We call it "type 6" because if you took a type 6 code and decrypted it, it would look sorta like this: 6aaaaaaa vvvvvvvv where a = address and v = value. Another note about type 6 codes and VBA. The effects of type 6 codes stay even after you remove the code(s). To fix this, you need to re-open the ROM file and not just reset the game. You can save after removing the code, and as long as you re-opened the ROM, the effect should be gone. Do not activate a wild level mod code and wild species mod code at the same time. It will not work! I've implemented a new index system because now we have 4 different code sets: English version Gameshark (GSAA), Japanese version Gameshark (GSAJ), English version Pro-Action replay (PARA), and Japanese version Pro Action Replay (PARJ). Learn to use edit->find and you can find any code or code set you're looking for in my FAQ. A note about Pro action Replay version 3 codes. I don't have the hardware to test them on so I'm assuming these work. At this time, I have no way of fixing these new codes if they do not work. Please do not e-mail me about them until a new version of VBA is released with PAR v3 compatability. The format is fairly new so alot of work still needs to be done. I'm not sure if the master codes I gave you for the new PAR devices work because PAR now has a new format. I just re-encrypted everything, and they all should work according to what we know of the new format, but we don't know if the new format requires a new type of master code. When we say not to use more than one code, we are only referring to the wild mod and wild level mod codes. You cannot have 1 of both and you cannot have more than one of each. You still have to use the proper master code (all lines directly underneath the name of the game you are using and nothing past that) In the case of the item codes, you don't need to include those last 3 digits before the item name. Those are for my reference when I made the codes to make sure I accounted for every possible item type value in order. v0.1 - Written 1-02-03 - Only Ruby codes done. v0.2 - Written 1-04-03 - Added some corrections and 2 new tutorials v0.21 - Writtent 1-06-03 - corrected Gloom's codes v0.22 - Written 1-08-03 - More corrections. If you aren't sure what master code you should be using, please check here. You have to enter these codes in your Action Replay / Gameshark in order to use the other codes of these FAQ. Don't use M, (M), (m) or m as the name of the master code or the game will not let you active it (Thank you Tahnok from www.gameFAQs.com). also note that GSA or PAR device must be on before loading the game. Gameshark V1/v2 codes ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// GSAAI. introduction Welcome to yet another FAQ. Today we'll be delving into Nintendo's Upcomming (at the time) game: Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. Specifically, we will in a sense bend the fabric of reality for Pokeworld or wherever they come from, thanx to the magic of Gameshark advance! This FAQ is about codes for GameShark advance devices or Pro Action Replay for the North American version of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// GSAAa) Entering codes in VBA to enter Gameshark codes in Visualboy Advance, here's a small tutorial: 1. Open visualboy Advance 2. Load up the game or "ROM" as we like to call it 3. At the top of the screen you should see a menue like this: |--------------------------------------------| |File Options Cheats Tools Help | |____________________________________________| click on "Cheats" and then go to the option "Cheat list..." At the bottom of the new window that opened up, you should see 2 rows of 4 buttons each. Something like this: |-----------------------------------------------------| ||---------------------------------------------------|| ||code |Description |Status || ||---------------------------------------------------|| || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || || ||---------------------------------------------------|| | | |Restore Previous values | | | ||--------| |--------| |------------| |--------------|| ||code | |cheat | |Gameshark...| |CodeBreaker...|| ||--------| |--------| |------------| |--------------|| ||--------| |--------| |------------| |--------------|| ||Remove | |Rem. All| |Enable/Dis. | | Ok || ||--------| |--------| |------------| |--------------|| |-----------------------------------------------------| 4. Click on the "Gameshark" button. You should now see something like this: |----------------------------------| | |--------------------|| |Descritpion:| || | |--------------------|| | | | |--------------------|| | Code:| || | | || | | || | | || | | || | | || | | || | | || | | || | |--------------------|| | | | |----------| |------------| | | | OK | | Cancel | | | |----------| |------------| | |----------------------------------| 5. Type the code(s) in in the big box labeled "Code". -If a code has a space in it, remove the space (i.e. if the code looks like this: xxxxxxxx yyyyyyyy, enter it like this: xxxxxxxxyyyyyyyy) -All codes contain and only contain numbers 0-9 and/or letters A-F. Do not use "O", "Q" or any other character that looks like "0" except "0" -Don't confuse "4" and "A" or "8" and "B" -If you can, Copy-Paste these codes instead of typing them out individually. This will ensure accuracy. -If a code has more than one line, all lines must be entered and active at the same time 6. Click OK on both menues to return to your game. 7. ??? 8. Profit! ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// |
