Walkthrough - Villagers' Personalities WalkthroughHere's the guide to your villagers/neighbours personalities! CRANKY Cranky villagers (also called Grumpy villagers), are male villagers in the Animal Crossing series series. The name is a direct reference to the meaning of cranky someone who is irritated or annoyed easily. They are considered the male equivilent to the snooty villagers. The cranky characters can seem quite bitter and out-of-touch with social trends, making them generally unpopular with the peppy villagers; they are all deep-voiced and many have frowns. They usually go to sleep at 5:00 A.M and wake up at 10:00 A.M each day. When trying to enter the house of a cranky person before they wake, you are greeted with an angry letter explaining that they are sleeping, "I'm catching some z's right now, wake me and REGRET IT", which is an example of how easily irritated they can be. They usually spend half of the day in their houses, and half of the day out. They find it easy to get along with snooty villagers and other cranky villagers, usually discussing trivial things such as food and the problems with unhealthy food. They get on with normal villagers most of the time, but can offend, and therefore annoy them quite easily if the wrong things have been said. They find it difficult to get on with lazy, peppy, and jock villagers, who cranky villagers claim are mucking around. Thus, conversations between a cranky villager and a villager of one of these types will result in one of them depressed and occasionally cranky villagers will tell you that things are getting boring so they are considering spreading rumours about another animal and 'watching the fun'. The usual response from either of the personalities is to call them an 'old man' or 'grandpa'. Although they may appear unfriendly, if the player talks to them, does errands for them and sends them letters for long enough, they will eventually begin to open up and will be more friendly with the player. JOCK Jock villagers are male villagers in the Animal Crossing series series. The name comes from the American stereotype, usually seen as high school or college jocks. A jock is a male athelete, who, in the light of the media, is considered unintelligent and dull-witted, which is reflected in the Animal Crossing personality type by their key interests in physical fitness and sports, including wrestling and typical gym exercises such as leg-squats and push-ups. These interests are unseen in the game, like the other hobbies. Jocks are obsessed with sports, talking frequently about their physical appearance and sporting progress. Stereotypically, they are also quite stupid, incessantly confusing themselves - calling the brain "the Brian" and failing to even grasp the concept of the game 'rock, paper, scissors'. They are the brother-like characters in the game, giving pep talks to the player, and appearing competitive towards them and other villagers when they partake in town events. They usually go to sleep at 12:00 AM and wake up at 5:00 AM. They are rarely angry unless offended by lazy villagers, who have conflicting personalities, but usually a discussion between the two will leave the jock villager confused and unable to talk. When jocks get sad, they say something like "I'm just sweating through my eyes!". When at the player's house, the villager will often say something like, "We have the same taste in sportswear!" LAZY Lazy villagers are male characters in the Animal Crossing series series. The name refers to their relaxed, laid-back lifestyle which, in Animal Crossing, goes with their immature nature and love of food. Lazy villagers have a relaxed and laid-back approach to living in the town. They appear somewhat immature or naive, in the way they speak and talk about hobbies, particularly fashion. In Animal Crossing: Wild World, they may mention reading an unseen magazine, called "Chillin' Magazine", which also reflects on their chilled, relaxed lifestyle. They often mention theories relating to certain aspects of the town, which they will mention in conversation to the player or other villagers. For example, some lazy villagers will wonder aloud who has to sit inside the Tom Nook Point System to make it talk. Often, they will mention their beliefs that Tom Nook's store has a basement filled with Tom Nook stuffed animals. They often express a fascination with Tom Nook's fluffy tail. Lazy villagers usually go to sleep at 10:00 PM, and awaken at 8:00 AM in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk usually go to sleep at 3:00 AM, and awaken at 8:00 AM. They find it easy to get along and talk to other villagers, including the player. They get along more with other lazy villagers, and peppy villagers. Jock villagers will find it difficult to them, due to their conflicting lifestyles of relaxing compared to the jock lifestyle of exercising and fitness. Snooty and cranky villagers will get along with lazy villagers too, as they too enjoy the slow-paced lifestyle and outlook on life. Normal villagers may conflict with them sometimes, but will not get annoyed, upset, or confused, because the arguments usually revolve around the lazy villager subtly suggesting they make food for them. NORMAL Normal villagers (also known as sweet or sweetie villagers) are female characters in the Animal Crossing series series. The name comes from their neutral opinion on things such as hobbies and other characters such as the playable character, villagers, and special visitors. Normal villagers, despite being called "normal", they have a lack of self-worth, where they feel self-depreciative. They also appear slightly obsessive with cleanliness and hygiene - a trait also found in peppy villagers. They do not, however, appear to show any concern for their physical appearance, making them happy with what they have got. In Animal Crossing: Wild World, they talk about a friend called Moppina, a non-present mop which reflects on their clean-obsessive nature. They can also have a conversation with a peppy villager about Moppina, of which the peppy villager may find funny. They also get along very well with cranky villagers. Often there will be talk about normal and cranky villagers being in love. They are the mother-like characters in the town, appearing friendly, sweet, and hospitable towards the player and other villagers. They usually go to sleep at 1:00 A.M and wake up at 6:00 A.M. They are very rarely (if at all) angry and tend to take insults and disappointment easily, but will apologize even though they may not have done anything. PEPPY Peppy villagers (also called valley girls by some people) are female characters who are incessantly friendly and excitable, making them very quick to apologize for anything they regret doing, even if they had not done anything particularly wrong. The name is a direct reference to the meaning of peppy; someone who is lively, bouncy and cheerful. They tend to claim they are hyper often because they eat candy frequently. They speak with chipper, bouncy voices and enjoy cheering when talking with Players and other villagers; they are rarely discouraged from doing anything. They come out of their homes often. They usually go to sleep at 2:30 AM and wake up at 7:00 AM, always excited to see the player. They have short attention spans and wild imaginations. They often say stereotypical, peppy words and phrases like "omigosh!!!" and "like". When they are describing certain things, they often use "SOOOO" and "totally!" They find it easy to get along with other villagers, but may become the center of jokes and gossip created by snooty and cranky villagers, and when either of two are rude, peppy villagers are rude back to them. They get along with normal, lazy and jock villagers, who naturally avoid making rude comments and share similar lifestyles with them, such as; food with with lazy villagers, activities with jock villagers and typical, 'girly' discussions with normal villagers. They do not hesitate to talk to snooty and cranky villagers, but may annoy them with their conflicting habits such as jumpiness which conflicts with the cranky/snooty refined stature. Sometimes peppy villagers will say insulting things like, "WHAT?! You designed this dress? I must have bought it without seeing your name on the label! That's the last time I buy one of your hideous designs!" SNOOTY Snooty villagers are female characters in the Animal Crossing series series. They are called snooty villagers because they appear big headed and arrogant in the games. They are usually portrayed wearing make-up and styling clothes which match their style, as well as luxurious looking homes, though there are some exceptions. They are the female equivalent to the male cranky villagers. Snooty villagers are well-spoken and sometimes appear offensive and rude towards other villagers, including the player. They are self-centered and sarcastic, but if the player talks to them often, they open up and become more talkative, sometimes give the player lessons in fashion. However, this doesn't prevent them from producing the occasional scathing comment. Snooty villagers usually have exotic or upper-class names, or names relating to high-value items and gemstones, making them easy to distinguish when talking to villagers around the town. Snooty villagers go to sleep at 4:00 AM, and wake up at 9:00 AM. Like with the peppy villagers, they read "Ms. Nintendique" frequently, coming out with quotations from the magazine such as what their lucky item of the day is, or saying that they bought so much blush that the magazine gave them a shirt, and then they say, "Here, you can have it!" and give it to the player. They will find it difficult to socialise with lazy, jock and peppy villagers, who have conflicting lifestyles to their own. They do not understand how lazy villagers can relax and not worry about their physical appearance, and they usually fall out with jock villagers when they have had their physical fitness questioned. Peppy villagers sometimes, without knowing, let their ideas come out - for example, a peppy villager may say "You know you're always rude...", leading the snooty villager to leave the conversation annoyed. They do, however, get along well with normal villagers, who do not have anything bad to say as part of their personality characteristics, and they will get along with cranky and other snooty villagers. |
