Walkthrough - Mummy Man, Brauner, Dracula and TrueMummy Man HP4500 is one of the easiest boss fights in the game. He's very slow, and all of his attacks are telegraphed and easy to see coming. Stand in front of Mummy Man with a weapon that's got some range. Attack at maximum range and you should be able to see his unraveling attack happen before it hits you. When you see a stretch of the mummy's wraps flying towards you, simply double jump over the enemy's head and start attacking from behind. Also watch out for Mummy Man's floating brick attacks. For one attack, the bricks will form a vertical wall and try to pin you against one of the room's walls. Simply use the Griffon Wing jump to escape this attack before the blocks eject their spikes. Another of the block attacks has a group of the blocks surround you in a loose ring formation. After they've aligned themselves in formation, the blocks will one by one fire towards you. Simply jump away to avoid the blocks. Brauner HP6000 The trick to beating Brauner is to stand in front of him and wail away. You read right—just stand in front of him and unload with your strikes. We used the Vampire Killer whip to deal solid damage with quick attacks. If you stand still in front of Brauner and unload with attacks, you should have no problem killing him before he kills you. Brauner's main attacks will follow his hand signals that direct the movement of large blood balls that streak across the room. The blood balls will leave damaging trails in their path, though you can simply cut through the blood trails with your weapons. Carve yourself a nice hole right in front of Brauner and return to striking with your most powerful weapon. Another attack scatters a bunch of heads that float in one direction, through the room. If you're crouched in front of Brauner, these heads will most often not hit you; can destroy them with your attacks to clear 'em out, or just activate an invincible tag-team spell to nail Brauner while avoiding his attacks. Dracula and Ture HP6666 you'll have to contend with Death at the same time. Fortunately, Death here isn't nearly as tough as in your previous encounter, though the combined force of Death and Dracula is certainly the hardest challenge the game has yet thrown your way. There are a few things you can equip to make this battle easier. First, we recommend getting the Ancient Armor, an item drop from the Old Axe Armor enemies. This armor guarantees that you can take 10 hits before dying. Unless you've got your max HP up to 1,400 (ours was nowhere near that), the Old Axe Armor gives you a better chance against this duo as their hits typically do 100+ damage per hit. (Note: The Old Axe Armor will make it so every hit you take damages your HP by exactly 10% of your total max HP—in short, you can sustain exactly nine hits without dying, as the tenth hit will kill you).I also highly recommend using the Vampire Killer weapon. The Greatest Five dual crush combo (earned by completing the Nest of Evil portrait) will be of use, as it deals more than 1,000 points of damage to Dracula, and the Magus Ring (earned by completing all of Wind's quests) will be helpful, but not necessary. Most importantly, we recommend using the Rocket Slash sub-weapon for Jonathan. A few things to know about this final boss fight: 1) Death and Dracula share the same health, so any hit you deal to Death also damages Dracula warps around the bottom of the screen while Death covers the top of the screen; 3) There are two forms of this boss—enjoy. As Dracula warps around the room, your best bet is to follow him as closely as possible. Dracula will execute one of two projectile attacks, both of which are easily dodged if you're near him and have the Rocket Slash sub-weapon equipped. Wait for Dracula to fully materialize, then execute the Rocket Slash to pass through Dracula. He won't turn around to follow you, instead launching his projectiles in the opposite direction. Note that if Dracula warps into one of the corners, you'll want to execute the Rocket Slash technique before he materializes to get Dracula to face the wall. When he's full materialized, Rocket Slash back through him to get him from behind. If you must deal with the projectile attacks head-on, you're in luck. The small fireballs can simply be destroyed with regular weapon attacks. The large spheres can be jumped over and ducked under. Alternatively, you can simply use the Griffon Wing technique to stay at the top of the screen while all the projectiles pass under you, though you'll have to stay far away from Death to avoid getting hit. Which brings us to Death. Like we said earlier, Death patrols the top of the screen throughout the battle. Occasionally, he'll sort of lock onto you and perform a downward slash. You can avoid this downward slash simply by running to the side. However, running away from Death is not advisable. Instead, run towards Death as he locks onto you to perform the attack. Death won't start the attack until after he's positioned himself directly over your head. If you just run away, you'll often run into a dead-end, at which point it's tough to sidestep Death's attack.Death also has a scythe attack to watch for, but as long as you're executing the Rocket Slash to get behind Dracula you shouldn't ever have to contend with it (he fires the scythes in the direction Dracula faces). Perhaps the most dangerous attack to watch for comes from Dracula when he breaks the pattern we've described above. He'll separate into a group of bats and dash across the screen. The Rocket Slash will pass through this move, as well, though we recommend just using the Griffon Wing to evade, or activating an invincible dual crush attack. After defeating the Dracula and Death combo, Death will sacrifice his strength to augment Dracula's. Dracula then takes on the form of a bat, presenting you with a new set of attacks. It's here where we recommend using the Speed Up spell, which you can find in the Throne Room section of the castle (in a hidden room, north of the entrance to Dracula's throne). Dracula will float around the room and occasionally stomp down with a devastating attack. If you've got the Speed Up spell activated, it shouldn't be too tough to avoid this attack entirely. Just keep your distance and perform jumping attacks (hitting with the very tip of your weapon) to keep the enemy at bay. Dracula's bat form has some wicked magic attacks to watch for. For one attack, Dracula summons a series of fireballs that fall from the ceiling. The best way to avoid the attack (we've found) is to perform repeated Griffon Wing jumps into the ceiling to stay above the mess below. For another magic attack, Dracula sends out large, disc-like projectiles that fly across the screen. To avoid these, we recommend getting as far from Dracula as possible. With the Speed Up spell active, you have a chance to avoid them. The most devastating attack of Dracula is also the easiest to avoid. Dracula will summon two large hands that nearly cover the entire screen. If the hands successfully close around you, you'll eat some heavy damage (if not die outright). To prevent the attack from hitting, call out your partner and attack the hands as they close in like crushing walls. Your partner will occasionally try to attack the same side you're attacking. We suggest switching sides when he or she does this so that you can hit both sides at once. And that's really all there is to the battle. Remember that this is your last battle, so don't hold back using Potions and such throughout. And if you've got the MP to spare, we recommend unleashing the Greatest Five dual crush combo to deal more than 1,000 points of damage to the enemy at any time. |
