Hi! This is a walkthrough for Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen! As you
might know already, the game is a remake of Dragon Quest IV/Dragon Warrior IV
which first appeared on the 8-bit NES. That's like thousand years ago, but
Dragon Quest never gets old. Ever. The coolest thing about the remake is of
course that it's handheld, but there's tons of other good stuff too. For
example, it features more detailed graphics, and the storyline has been a bit
extended compared to the NES version. It's all pretty old-school though, so
people that have been following the series up through the years should be
pleased. Unless they don't like good games, of course. Happily, I do.
Dragon Quest IV is quite a long game, which means that there is a ton of
information I need to include in this walkthrough. That's really nice, but I'm
bound to make errors here and there, and I'd absolutely love you if you would
take some minutes and tell me about those errors in mail or on messenger. If
you've got information that you think others could find useful, please don't
hesitate getting in touch either. My goal is to make a comprehensive
walkthrough with lots of useful information, and to do that I could really use
some help. That would make everything nicer. Please?
Anyway, enough sweet stuff! When i write guides, I usually concentrate mainly
on getting people through the main game, and while doing that, I also list
items that can be found hidden in various places. That's what those item
checklists that appear everywhere in the main walkthrough are for. You know,
so that you can tick off items you've found using a pen or something. So, as
you can probably guess, I mostly like to maintain a more general scope, rather
than going in-depth with mathematical calculations of attack damage and that
kind of stuff. Some people like that, but I really don't. I suck at maths, and
I totally fail at everything that's about using numbers. Honestly.
I usually make these introductions a wee bit long in the tooth, so I won't
keep rambling much more now. Just make sure to read all the sections under
"Before Playing Dragon Quest IV" if you're new to the Dragon Quest series, or
just want a quick refresher on the basics. It's smart to know how to do things
before starting to play RPGs. I know that from experience. With that said,
I hope you'll have a good time reading and playing, and that you'll tell me
