Walkthrough - Human Only GuideV1.00 HUMAN ONLY GUIDE: How to beat Dragon Quest 5: Hand of the Heavenly Bride without recruiting any monsters. A major part of this game is recruiting monsters to help assist you on your quest, and this guide is an answer to the challenge of recruiting no monsters throughout the game. ___________________________________________ __ ___ __ \__ __ \__ |_ ____/_ __ \__ | / / __ / / /_ /_/ /_ /| | / __ _ / / /_ |/ / _ /_/ /_ _, _/_ ___ / /_/ / / /_/ /_ /| / /_____/ /_/ |_| /_/ |_\____/ \____/ /_/ |_/ ____________ _________________________ ___ __ __ __ \_ / / /__ ____/_ ___/__ __/ __ | / / _ / / / / / /__ __/ _____ \__ / __ | / / / /_/ // /_/ / _ /___ ____/ /_ / __ |/ / \___\_\\____/ /_____/ /____/ /_/ _____/ ______ ______ _______ ______________ __ ____________ _________ __ ___ / / /_ / / /__ |/ /__ |__ | / / __ __ \__ | / /__ /_ \/ / __ /_/ /_ / / /__ /|_/ /__ /| |_ |/ / _ / / /_ |/ /__ / __ / _ __ / / /_/ / _ / / / _ ___ | /| / / /_/ /_ /| / _ /___ / /_/ /_/ \____/ /_/ /_/ /_/ |_/_/ |_/ \____/ /_/ |_/ /_____/_/ _____________ __________________________ __ ____/_ / / /___ _/__ __ \__ ____/ _ / __ _ / / / __ / __ / / /_ __/ / /_/ / / /_/ / __/ / _ /_/ /_ /___ \____/ \____/ /___/ /_____/ /_____/ By: Micskill Copyright 2008 Michael Redding. A walkthrough of the entire game with boss strategies with suggested levels and equipment. ============================================================================= INTRODUCTION: [INT1] It took me about 44 game hours, although a chunk of that (25% perhaps) was spent typing up this guide while the game was running. I would recommend beating the game at least once so you know what to do, this guide won't get into the plot and pretty much assumes the reader knows how to progress in the game. This guide will focus on what levels you should be at, what items to obtain, and boss strategies. This guide will also keep track of the characters levels and equipment when reaching a new area. RULES: The only rule is you can't recruit any monsters. The sabrecub you don't really have a choice in the first generation, but you aren't allowed to pick him up after the first generation. ============================================================================= GENERAL STRATEGIES AND INFO: [GEN1] EQUIPMENT: Buy the best equipment you can as soon as you can. SEEDS: Use all seeds on the protagonist, you will be alone for quite a bit of the game. After you reach the third generation you can start spreading the love as you desire, since the human characters that are with you will be permanent. I started giving much of my seeds of wisdom and magic to the boy, for example since Multiheal is very mana intensive. REROLLING SEEDS: All statistic seeds give you between 1-3 points in the relevant stat. It is recommended that you save before using a seed, and reset if you get a 1. Life and Magic seeds seem to give you anywhere between 4-6 points in HP or MP. BATTLE SPEED: Press X to open your menu, go to Misc. and set the battle message speed to fastest. This will help speed up the level grinding process. MUSK/WHISTLE: Use these to make power leveling easier, as you get attacked more often (or in the case of Whistle, immediately. I believe Sancho can use Whistle, but you won't get him until the third generation. EXPERIANCE: Experience is not split between your characters in this game. Due to this, you should try to power level a bit before you know a character is going to leave your party. This is especially true with your wife (she leaves shortly after you arrive at Gotha), as the two dungeons afterward are quite difficult. ============================================================================= ______________ _____ ___ ____/__(_)_______________ /_ __ /_ __ /__ ___/_ ___/ __/ _ __/ _ / _ / _(__ )/ /_ [FIR1] /_/ /_/ /_/ /____/ \__/ _________ __________ __ ____/_____________________________ __ /___(_)____________ _ / __ _ _ \_ __ \ _ \_ ___/ __ `/ __/_ /_ __ \_ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / __/ / / /_/ // /_ _ / / /_/ / / / / \____/ \___//_/ /_/\___//_/ \__,_/ \__/ /_/ \____//_/ /_/ ============================================================================= THE BOAT: Protagonist - LVL 1 starting gear On the boat, run around and grab everything from the closets and barrels, then talk to everybody and eventually the boat will dock. After reaching the port town, go outside and start a battle toget Pankraz to save you. Now jam the A button to quickly resolve the battles on the way to the town of... ============================================================================= WHEALBROOK: Protagonist - LVL 1 starting gear After talking to Bianca, grab the leather helm in the closet above you. Follow the stream to enter the cave. Run around and grab all the armor (wayfarer's clothes, shield) before pushing the rock off the villager. Generally you should use an herb if you fall below half health (that goes for all healing in general.) I ended up leaving this cave at level 4. After talking to Sancho, Pankraz will lead you to the village of... ============================================================================= ROUNDBECK: Protagonist - LVL 4 Cypress stick, Wayfarer's clothes, Leather shield, Leather Hat. After getting Bianca, talk to the kids with teasing the cat to trigger the Uptaten Tower quest. When you wake up in from Bianca, search the drawers in the room for a Resilience seed. Now run around outside the village and fight enemies until you can afford the following Boomerang, Thorn whip, and all the best armor available for both the protagonist and Bianca. You can go back to the inn for a free rest at any time. Don't venture too far until Bianca catches up in levels, even then it can be dangerous if you, say, go back to Whealbrook too soon. After getting the best available equipment, head north to Uptaten Tower. ============================================================================= UPTATEN TOWER: Protagonist - LVL 8 Boomerang, Leather Armour, Hardwood headwear, Scale shield Bianca - LVL 10 Thorn whip, Leather dress, Leather hat, Scale shield You should be able to blow through this fairly quickly after all the grinding. It is a good idea to sleep after falling down the trapdoor before fighting the boss. BOSS - HAUNTED HOUSEKEEPER: Bianca should kasap him a couple times, then attack. The protagonist should attack, but buff if the housekeeper saps somebody. Heal with the spell or herb when necessary (lower than half health). He will go down in about 10-11 rounds. After going back to town and grabbing your new cat, Bianca will leave and Pankraz will take you back to Whealbrook. Run around town and talk to the guy that looks similar to the protagonist and then go to one of the basements of a house near the entrance, and talk to the girl on the bar (she may be hard to spot at first). Go back to Sancho's house and go to the basement and the girl will lead you to the land of the fairies. ============================================================================= FAERIE LEA: Protagonist - LVL 9 Boomerang, Leather Armour, Hardwood headware, Scale shield After agreeing to help the fairies, go to the armor shop and buy the following for the protagonist: Scale armour, Bronze shield, Fur Hood. Feel free to sell any older equipment for money as well as to free up your bag. Fight around town as needed to get more gold. I originally intended for only human characters to be used in this type of run, but it is really hard to keep the sabercat dead. You can't directly attack your own party members like in some other RPGs, Honey tends to keep healing the cat, and every time it falls in battle it comes back with 1 HP this early in the game. I decided to have the cat stay unequipped with any items and put him in the front row so it wouldn't have much impact in fights. This guide will assume that the cat has no equipment, stays near-death and the protagonist never heals it. In any case, after getting all the available new armor, head to the West into the cave. Raid the cave for the Lots about Locks book. There are is a seed of agility and a seed of life also, which I recommend using on the protagonist. Go back to Faerie Lea, sleep and save. After going back to the basement and returning to Faerie Lea, head north to the Ice Fortress. ============================================================================= ICE FORTRESS: Protagonist - LVL 10 Boomerang, Scale armor, Bronze shield, Fur hood Navigate the sliding ice maze until you reach the guy guarding the two treasure chests, which is Dwight the dwarf. He should go down in 5-7 rounds barring any criticals you may land. After that the Winter Queen will arrive. Remember not to heal the sabercat (although Honey may opt to, nothing you can do about that.) BOSS - WINTER QUEEN: If you are unlucky (say the queen takes a deep breath then attacks Honey taking her out of the battle early) or don't have enough remaining MP, you could lose this battle. The hero should ideally have 2/3 of his MP remaining for this battle of attrition. Hopefully, Honey will sizz the queen which does 3x more damage than her physical attack. Let the cat die (mine died after 10 rounds, Honey eventually tired of healing him.) The protagonist should heal himself or honey if either falls past half life. After about twenty rounds she will eventually fall. Return to Faerie Lea, and return the spring whistle to the leader. After returning to Whealbrook, go and talk to your pops Pankraz. ============================================================================= COBURG: Protagonist - LVL 10 Boomerang, Scale armor, Bronze shield, Fur hood This part is a little hazy for me but essentially you have to talk to everybody in the castle, and after Harry tries to trick you examine the chair where he was originally. After the kidnapping, Pankraz will run off. Before chasing him to the thieves hideout, run around and kill things until you can afford all the iron armor from the armor shop. Note that Your cat should be dying much more quickly now that no NPCs will heal him and he still has no equipment. ============================================================================= THIEVES HIDEOUT: Protagonist - LVL 11 Boomerang, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet Pretty much fly through the maze until you find Pankraz, and then scoop up Harry. Once that is done you won't encounter any monsters, so you can scoop up all the loot. After that the protagonist can enjoy a few years in jail. ============================================================================= ________ _________ __ ___/_____________________________ / _____ \_ _ \ ___/ __ \_ __ \ __ / ____/ // __/ /__ / /_/ / / / / /_/ / [SEC1] /____/ \___/\___/ \____//_/ /_/\__,_/ _________ __________ __ ____/_____________________________ __ /___(_)____________ _ / __ _ _ \_ __ \ _ \_ ___/ __ `/ __/_ /_ __ \_ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / __/ / / /_/ // /_ _ / / /_/ / / / / \____/ \___//_/ /_/\___//_/ \__,_/ \__/ /_/ \____//_/ /_/ ============================================================================= JAIL: Protagonist - LVL 11 no equipment Run around and talk to the prisoners until you trigger the battle with the guards. Harry should blast them with Frizz and the protagonist should use Woosh. After a short swim you will find yourself at the Abbey. ============================================================================= ABBEY: Protagonist - LVL 11 Boomerang, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet Harry - LVL 2 or 3 Gear Harry up with any leftovers you have. Talk to the girl you rescued (Maria?) to get $1000 gold. One of the nuns in one of the Western rooms will give you a Crude image knick knack. Despite what she says, it is actually useful and will grant +15 luck when equipped. I recommend putting it on the protagonist. Now make your way to Fortuna. ============================================================================= FORTUNA: Protagonist - LVL 11 Boomerang, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet, Crude Image Harry - LVL 3 or 4 whatever gear you put on him before There is a TnT board here which you should do for the minimedal. Scour around town for loot, seeds being the most important. Now I would run around and fight things until you can get Harry the best weapons and armor, and get the edged boomerang for the protagonist - which you also obtain at the end of the TnT board. When you are running around, don't go too far south. The Ruff Ruffians beyond the abbey will wreck you at this point in the game. If you are feeling impatient, you can do the next part after getting the Harry the Chain Whip, (which makes things a lot quicker), and save up for the iron armor. Head north back to Whealbrook when you are ready. ============================================================================= WHEALBROOK: Protagonist - LVL 11 or 12 Edged Boomerang, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet, Crude Image Harry - 6 or 7 Chain whip, hopefully a piece or two of iron armor. I don't think you have to do this now (or perhaps not ever) but it makes sense to do it at this point in the game. Grab the wisdom seed before taking the raft into the gave. Ideally you will be able to kill a metal slime or two on your way to Pankraz' letter & sword. Don't forget the night lamp, it can come in handy sometimes. You should be able to cast Evac by the time you are down with this cave., which makes getting out painless. Journey west to Roundbeck. ============================================================================= ROUNDBECK: Protagonist - LVL 13 Edged Boomerang, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet, Crude Image Harry - 9 or 10 Chain whip, hopefully a piece or two of iron armor. Go to sleep once to get Harry thinking about Coburg, and then sleep again for the Zizzwizz Pillow. You should then travel all the way to the east to get back to Coburg. I'd highly recommend decking Harry out with all the iron armor before progressing. ============================================================================= COBURG: Protagonist - LVL 13 Edged Boomerang, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet, Crude Image Harry - 11 Chain whip, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet This phase can be a bit hard since your supposed to have the wagon and some monsters by now, but we don't have that luxury. Find the raft and take it under the bridge to sneak into the catacombs. It is recommended that you heal up after each battle. Some of the enemies like the Powie Yowies and the zombies can paralyze you (I think). If you somehow run out of MP, don't forget you have the herbs. Don't forget about Harry's Bang, which is good for multiple groups of enemies. Don't make the mistake of using the night lamp like I did after reaching the courtyard, or you'll have to run through the catacombsagain. After receiving the key to Coburg, backtrack to the entrance of the castle and go up the stairs to snag all the treasure. You can use the side entrance to get back into the castle (where the raft was). Once back inside, go north and smash all the pots to get a mini medal, then go downstairs and use the 'teleportal'. Before venturing to the tower, go back to the abbey and save/sleep. You also may want to consider stashing your cash at Fortuna. Talk to one of the nuns at the Abbey to obtain Maria's services (no, not those services.) ============================================================================= TOWER: Protagonist - LVL 14 Edged Boomerang, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet, Crude Image Harry - 13 Chain whip, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet There can be some difficult monster combinations on the upper levels, so have Harry Bang away while the protagonist focuses on boomerang chucking. Make sure to heal after every battle, but note that even with full health if, say, you get surprised you may lose a character or get wiped out anyway. There is a seed of magic on one of the middle floors as well, which should go to the protagonist as usual. When you get to the top, move to the right side before crossing the invisible bridge. After getting the Ra's mirror, Evac out and return to the portal. ============================================================================= COBURG: Protagonist - LVL 14 Edged Boomerang, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet, Crude Image Harry - 13 Chain whip, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet Before confronting the fake queen, go to the inn and save first. BOSS BATTLE - FAUX DOWAGER It is recommended you put a few herbs on Harry to help out with healing, or if you run out of MP. This will be the hardest battle at this point in the game. You may end up using your Elfin Elixir here, although I was fortunate and didn't have to. Have Harry Kasap her twice while the protagonist heals after each attack. I used Midheal more often then not due to how manage damage she can dish out. If she breathes on you twice you might be screwed. After the two Kasaps land, have Harry and the Protagonist attack - if he isn't on heal duty. Hopefully the queen will call for help more often then not. Don't bother using Bang with Harry if this happens, the help she gets isn't very dangerous and Bang barely hurts her. Focus fire on her and she'll eventually drop - probably after you exhaust all the protagonist's MP. I haven't tried using the Zizzwizz pillow but it may be worth a shot if you are having trouble. After this you will (probably) level and Harry will leave the party. Return to Fortuna. ============================================================================= FORTUNA: Protagonist - LVL 15 Edged Boomerang, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet, Crude Image Use the lamp if it isn't night already and go to the upper right shop to purchase the wagon. You will, of course, turn away any monsters that attempt to join but you can also have Monty send them back if you accidentally pick one up. Monty hides in a couple different villages. Also note you can return to the same merchant to get the Big Book of Beasts. Now go to the original port town that you docked on at the beginning of the game in the first generation, and you will find yourself in the town of.... ============================================================================= LODESTAR HARBOUR: Protagonist - LVL 15 Edged Boomerang, Iron Armour, Iron shield, Iron helmet, Crude Image Grab everything you can in this town, notably the two minimedals. One is in the lighthouse in a drawer and the other is in the shrubs to the right of the church. You will also want to buy the Magic shield (which is in the item shop instead of the armor shop) and the Full Plate Armour. Feel free to sell off excess equipment to make the funding work. Go to the bar and take out the Ruff Ruffians as well, which will net you 1500 gold. You can also hit up the Tombola place below the inn. The monsters outside are tougher than before, so it may be worth your while to deposit some money at the bank below the church. When you are ready head west to Zoomingdale. ============================================================================= ZOOMINGDALE: Protagonist - LVL 15 Edged Boomerang, Full Plate Armour, magic shield, Iron helmet, Crude Image Run around and loot the village (most importantly the magic seed in the bar, the Minimedal outside in a jar next to the agility seed, and the Minimedal on the second floor of the inn). Start the Toilen Trubble quest in order to eventually get the spell Zoom, then return at night to visit the armor shop in order to buy the Iron mask. Now go East back to Lodestone Harbour then south to the village Hay. ============================================================================= HAY: Protagonist - LVL 15 Edged Boomerang, Full Plate Armour, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image Grab the Minimedal and Seed of strength from the middle house in the jars. There is another Minimedal in the southeastern house on the second floor. Now go to the cave to the West - not to rescue your cat though. Just go in and get the minimedal on the first floor, as the floors below are pretty dangerous, then leave. Go back to Zoomingdale and get the Zoom brew for Toilen Trubble and give it to him so you can zoom around. Use the night lamp to help find the Zoom brew. I got wiped out a couple times trying to do this quest so putting your gold away never hurts. I would recommend fighting near Lodestone Harbouruntil you are level 16 or 17 as well. You may get lucky and land a Life seed from a Small Fry enemy. After getting the Zoom ingredient, return to Zoomingdale to obtain the spell Zoom from Toilen Trouble. ============================================================================= FORTUNA: Protagonist - LVL 16 Edged Boomerang, Full Plate Armour, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image After getting Zoom, I came to the conclusion progress was going to be very painful, but getting the Metal King Sword could help immensely. Zoom back to Coburg and talk to Harry in order to move the game along. Before progressing, however, go to Fortuna for some gambling. If you don't have 2000 gold at this time, sell some equipment you aren't using or fight things until you obtain 2000 gold and purchase 100 tokens from the casino before saving. After saving, go back to the casino and bet the maximum - or 50 - tokens on the monster arena. This game does give you the right odds occasionally on which monster to bet, but the strategy evades me. However, with some judicial use of the reset button, you will always come out ahead. This method is almost as efficient as making bad bets but paying with taxpayer money. Generally you should bet on any monster that has a 3-5x payout. If at anytime you have 50 more tokens then you started with, go back and save. After about half an hour you should find yourself with 500 tokens. Now go to the slots in the second row where you can bet a maximum of 90 tokens. Play until you have 5,000 tokens, but save you notice that you have 25% more tokens then you had previously. After an hour or so of this, you should make it to that 5,000 tokens. Now go to the top red slot and bet the maximum. Again, if you notice you have 25% more tokens then you did previously, save. Obviously reload if at any time you run out of tokens. Once you reach 50,000 tokens, purchase the Metal King sword. Also, make sure you have at least 5000 tokens left over so you have a bankroll to get the Gringham whip later. The whole ordeal shouldn't take more then 3 hours, perhaps much less. Now Zoom back to Zoomingdale. ============================================================================= ZOOMINGDALE: Protagonist - LVL 16 Metal King Sword, Full Plate Armour, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image With the Metal king sword things are a bit easier. Travel south to the small village. Other than the Minimedal in the well, there isn't much to do here. Sleep and Save, then go into the cave outside the village farther south. Target any Wormbats you encounter first as they can paralyze you (which will send you back to the church). There is a minimedal to the east. After exiting the cave, go to Mostroferrato to the Southwest across the bridge. ============================================================================= MOSTROFERRATO: Protagonist - LVL 16 Metal King Sword, Full Plate Armour, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image There is a minimedal to the south of the entrance in the house, and a seed of wisdom in the house to the far Southwest. Talk to Mr. Briscoletti in the mansion in the west to progress the story. At this point you are going to have to do a fair bit of grinding until you get to level 23. This took me about 3 hours. You can grind around town but if you are having trouble (or the battles are taking to long) you can backtrack to the cave and fight for a couple levels, which is what I did. Remember you can't hit groups of enemies now that you have the Metal king sword, so Swoosh can be very useful for groups of 3+ enemies. Definitely use Swoosh on ghouls as they can summon more ghouls, put you to sleep, and are adept at dodging physical attacks. These will wipe you out occasionally. You can also try to farm Small fry (the little dragons outside Hay) to get Life Seeds. I never could get one however. The Hunter Mechs can drop Wisdom seeds as well, I got two. When you are ready go south to the Volcano. ============================================================================= MOUNT MAGMAGEDDON: Protagonist - LVL 23 Metal King Sword, Full Plate Armour, magic shield, Iron mask You will need a Magic shield if you don't have one already. Now that you are level 23 you should have Fullheal, which is essential. I tried using Holy water but not sure if it really helped. Heal after every battle, use healing herbs if you run out of HP. Before grabbing the Circlet of Fire, make sure you are fully healed in the room below. A boss battle will occur when you attempt to grab the circlet. BOSS - MAGMEN: These guys are tough but beatable. It takes about four strikes to kill one. Attack first, then Full heal. Repeat this unless you get hit by their fire attack by two or three of them, in which case you will have to Full heal again. Your MP should hold up. Hopefully they will waste turns attacking or 'assessing the situation'. Once they go down, Evac and zoom to Mostroferrato to relinquish the circlet. Now get on the boat and sale north to scoop up Bianca. ============================================================================= STOCKENBARREL: Protagonist - LVL 23 Metal King Sword, Full Plate Armour, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image Before scooping up Bianca, get the two minimedals from the grave and the bar. Beware the Urnexpected in the item shop as it can Thwack you. Get Bianca and equip her with the Falcon Knife earrings and then zoom back to Mostroferrato and buy her a Silver Tiara and Cloak of Evasion, Now sale to the Cataract Caves. ============================================================================= CATARACT CAVES: Protagonist - LVL 23 Metal King Sword, Full Plate Armour, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image Bianca - LVL 20 Falcon Knife Earrings, Cloak of Evasion, Scale shield, Silver Tiara Not too much to say about this... Heal after every battle and you should be fine. Oh yeah, grab the Serenity Robe by dropping down one hole and then going south and across the bridge. Girls really like that robe. Once you get the Water Circlet, Evac out and Zoom to Mostroferrato. Turn in the circlet and then talk to everybody at night so you can go back to sleep. ============================================================================= MARRIAGE: I picked Debora. She is a more physical character which makes power leveling a bit easier. Physical attacks are much faster than casting spells. Also, she can the Diamond Akillics, which double strike properties are useful when trying to farm metal slimes. It probably doesn't really matter which one you pick however. All you have to do now is go up to the item dealer in the town to the north. After retrieving the wedding veil, the wedding will occur. Once you return from the wedding, Mr. Briscoletti will want you to check up on the color of a jar at a shrine to the north. Don't forget the Zenithian shield behind him. Also, don't forget to equip Debora with the Wedding veil. Before heading to the shrine, I opted to get the Gringham whip from the Fortuna casino. This could take around three hours, hopefully you held onto 5000 tokens from before. Eventually you'll hit a couple big sets. Remember to save periodically, and if you lose too much at any one time (say more than 10000 tokens) you should reload. Before or after getting the Gringham whip, sail north from Mostroferrato to the shrine and examine the big jar, then return to Mr. Briscoletti. He will give you a freakin boat! Now zoom to Lodestar Harbour and go to the building on the eastern side of town. Once on your boat, sail to the East and slightly south to the island with the casino boat. I leveled Debora on the open seas here, which can be a bit dangerous with all the hard hitting, high HP monsters around. ============================================================================= CASINO SHIP: Protagonist - LVL 23 Metal King Sword, Full Plate Armour, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Debora - LVL 10 Gringham whip, Silk dress, Wedding veil, Circle of Water Anyway, once on the casino boat, smash all the barrels until you find the Minimedal on the deck. There is another Minimedal directly below some of the sleeping quarters (which happens to be below the save point) in another barrel. Downstairs you will find slots and other games, which you should ignore unless you haven't gotten (and intend to get) the Gringham whip. I'd say its worth going through the TnT board to get the Lacy Bustier for Debora and the Prayer ring. Note you also can sleep on your boat below deck on the opposite side of the save point. Once you are done here, you will eventually have to make your way to Gotha, but there are some things you can and should do first. These include gathering some equipment, minimedals, seeds and power leveling while you still have Debora. For now, sail south from the casino boat all the way to the southern continent where there is a desert. Circle around the mountains and you will find the castle of... ============================================================================= HELMUNAPTRA: Protagonist - LVL 24 Metal King Sword, Full Plate Armour, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Debora - LVL 12 Gringham whip, Lacy Bustier, Wedding veil, Circle of Water First, go to the west and get the Silver mail from the armory. Sell things or run around and fight for the gold if you don't have enough. There is a seed of magic and resilience inside of the castle kitchen, but there is also an Urnexpected in one of the Eastern pots, so save first before going in the castle. Downstairs where the, where the queen is hanging out, is also a well with a minimedal. You also may as well talk to the queen while your here. She will lead you to the Zenithian helm but you can't take it until you have your son and it is the third generation. She will, however, clue you into Gotha's location. Behind a castle is a guy complaining about water. If you push him to the east he will open up his item shop. I would buy perhaps three Paxa Punch potions (for now) as well as the Floral Parazol shield for Debora. Now for a bit of power leveling, which is best done at the Dominicus's Dominion. Before that, a quick pit stop for a minimedal. Head East across the desert to a tent, inside of which you will find one minimedal in a pot Now get back on your boat and head to the continent not far to the east, where Dominicus's Dominion resides. ============================================================================= DOMINICUS'S DOMINION: Protagonist - LVL 24 Metal King Sword, Silver Mail, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Debora - LVL 12 Gringham whip, Lacy Bustier, Wedding veil, Floral Parasol (shield), Circle of Water There is an Inn here but no church, which means you will have to zoom elsewhere to save. There is also King Dominicus who you will return to in order to get the Sacred armour (you should have about 18 minimedals at this point, but soon you will come across many of them). You could save up for the Metal king shield, but by the time you can get it you will have a full supporting cast - of humans of course - so I think the Sacred armour is more valuable for the remainder of the second generation. If you have less than 17 minimedals you may have to use a guide to backtrack and get some more minimedals. They can also be found on some TnT boards. You can get them later of course, but the Sacred armour is pretty useful. Level up here a couple times. There are an abundance of metal slimes but I couldn't seem to kill any. I moved on when Debora made it to level 15, but you could probably leave immediately without much risk of being wiped out. Get back on your boat and go up to the Eastern continent. Travel up the coast until you can dock, then go south on land until you run into... ============================================================================= KNOT WELCOME INNE: Protagonist - LVL 24 Metal King Sword, Silver Mail, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Debora - LVL 12 Gringham whip, Lacy Bustier, Wedding veil, Floral Parasol (shield), Circle of Water I'd recommend grinding it out here for a few more levels before attempting the cave to Gotha. The idea is that you want to get as much experience into the Protagonist as possible, because once Debora is gone it is a bit harder to power level. Experience is not split up in this game. Run around the mountains to the south for a high encounter rate. Ideally you will run into five Lazy Eyes because they are pushovers and sometimes they drop seeds of life. Don't forget to reorganize your lineup if one of the Ivory Tusks sends you flying into the wagon. Every other monster in the area is pretty easy as they appear to have a mental disability of some sort (the wizards, dragons). I leveled until Debora reached level 25, which took me three hours. I also got two seeds of life from the Lazy Eyes and one seed of wisdom from a Drag-goof, all of which when to the protagonist as usual. Don't sweat it if no seeds drop though, they are just icing on the levels. A couple things you'll notice. The protagonist will also have Zing when he gets to level 25 which is very useful. Also, Debora will be quite a bit more agile (hot) so she will go before the protagonist, much of the time, which you should factor in to your fights from here on out. Thwack is also pretty useful surprisingly when she gets it at level 25. Don't forget to deposit your money before going into the cave to the north. ============================================================================= CAVE NORTH OF KNOT WELCOME INNE: Protagonist - LVL 28 Metal King Sword, Silver Mail, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Debora - LVL 26 Gringham whip, Lacy Bustier, Wedding veil, Floral Parasol (shield), Circle of Water The items you are interested in while traversing the mountain are the three mini medals and the Flowing dress for debera. You will also encounter a woman who will let you sleep, and will also give you +5 strength, where one of the minimedals happens to be. If you run into an Urnexpected, Have Debora Whack it before it Thwacks you. Another minimedal is outside on the Western end of the mountain. When you reach the cave part, there will be a guard that has the Flowing dress, which is a significant upgrade. The third minimedal is in the western end of the cave. ============================================================================= BATTENBERG: Protagonist - LVL 28 Metal King Sword, Silver Mail, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Debora - LVL 26 Gringham whip, Flowing dress, Wedding veil, Floral Parasol (shield), Circle of Water Not much to do here except get the minimedal below the weapon and armor shop, which should put your total to 22. ============================================================================= PASS TO GOTHA: Protagonist - LVL 28 Metal King Sword, Silver Mail, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Debora - LVL 26 Gringham whip, Flowing dress, Wedding veil, Floral Parasol (shield), Circle of Water The important thing here is to get enough minimedals to put your total to at least 25 (although after making my way through I found myself with 29). When you make it to the castle there are three more available. Mimics are treasures that attack you and also drop a mini medal. I would recommend having Debora using Kasap then attacking it. They can cast Thwack so you may be whiped out, but since you parked your cash it isn't a big deal. Sometimes you can whack the Mimics before they Thwack you, but I find that method to be less reliable overall. When you run into the old man outside, make sure you answer no so you will get a minimedal from him. ============================================================================= GOTHA: Protagonist - LVL 28 Metal King Sword, Silver Mail, magic shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Debora - LVL 27 Gringham whip, Flowing dress, Wedding veil, Floral Parasol (shield), Circle of Water Once you reach Gotha, you will be able to Zoom there. I would recommend zooming to a town you have already been to and sleeping/saving, because once you go inside Gotha and talk to Sancho, your wife will be lost for quite a while. You should first get the protagonist to level 30. If you have 28 or more minimedals, you can now get the Sacred armour, which is a very significant upgrade. If you can't get it yet don't fret, as there are three minimedals in Gotha that you can obtain shortly. Once the protagonist is level 30 or more, you can go talk to Sancho and let Debora go. Leveling up is safe around Gotha, and will probably afford you the most experience over time. After losing Debora, you should also grab the Tempest shield, as well as a couple seeds, one of resilience and one of strength. Once you have both the Sacred armour (if you didn't have it already) and the Tempest shield, go to the Eastern cave. ============================================================================= RITE OF PASSAGE: Protagonist - LVL 30 Metal King Sword, Sacred armour, Tempest shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Not much to grab here. Battle your way through until you reach Royal Insignia. Generally you should target the Orc Kings first so they can't Zing anything back to life. After grabbing the Insignia you will be confronted by a boss. BOSS BATTLE - ROBBIN HOOD: Cast Buff right off that bat three times for maximum protection, then heal yourself to full life just to be safe. The Hippoblockomus will barely do any damage to you. Concentrate on killing Robbin Hood first. If he gets a critical on you, cast Full heal. He will go down fairly quickly with plenty of MP to spare. You can use a Paxa Punch to double your attack power if you are concerned about a lucky critical wiping you out. Kill the Hippoblockomus last. When they are dead, Evac and Zoom to Gotha to return the Royal Insignia. Once the ceremony is done you have to search the Chancellor Jeeves' room for the Talaria shoes, which you use to teleport to a church to the north. Save, and then travel farther north and enter... ============================================================================= KNIGHTMARE TOWERS: Metal King Sword, Sacred armour, Tempest shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire A tough dungeon to be sure, but no critical pickups unless you are interested in more minimedals. Fight your way to the top. I wouldn't sweat getting blasted by the firetraps as you only have to Full heal yourself. If you find yourself low on MP by the time you get to the first boss, feel free to use any MP items. When you reach the top the first boss is the Orc Pawn. BOSS - ORC PAWN: Buff once and let the Sacred armour work its magic while you attack. This is a much easier battle than the Robbin Hood boss. BOSS - CHIMAERA PAWN: This is an opportunity to cast Absorb Magic if you feel like you need more MP. The spells launched your way aren't very threatening, just keep attacking. If you feel like you are low on HP, cast Full heal (say, less than a third HP remaining). This boss occasionally goes twice in a row so you may actually have to heal at some point. Once this is down, there is one boss remaining... BOSS - KON: Buff three times, then defend. Heal if necessary. After six or so rounds your wife will come to the rescue. Now attack Kon until he falls, you shouldn't even have to heal with the Sacred armour working for you. He falls in less than fifteen rounds easily. A bunch of stuff happens, but you'll eventually find yourself in the third generation. ============================================================================= _____________ _____ _________ ___ __/__ /____(_)____________ / __ / __ __ \_ /__ ___/ __ / _ / _ / / / / _ / / /_/ / [THI1] /_/ /_/ /_//_/ /_/ \__,_/ _________ __________ __ ____/_____________________________ __ /___(_)____________ _ / __ _ _ \_ __ \ _ \_ ___/ __ `/ __/_ /_ __ \_ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / __/ / / /_/ // /_ _ / / /_/ / / / / \____/ \___//_/ /_/\___//_/ \__,_/ \__/ /_/ \____//_/ /_/ ============================================================================= This plays out pretty similar to a normal game, as you will finally have access to a full party. Still, some advice on level requirements and boss battles never hurt, especially since you won't have the flexibility that you would have with monsters at your disposal. GOTHA: Protagonist - LVL 30 Metal King Sword, Sacred armour, Tempest shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Once you regain control, go outside the bedroom and pick up your children. Downstairs talk to Sancho and he will clue you in on how the party planner works, let you know your boat is available and offer his services to you. Tuppence is another human on the bottom floor you can recruit, he will be the green dude standing just north of the inn. Now go to the party planner upstairs and put the members in this order for now: Protagonist, Sancho, the hero Parry, and your daughter Madchen. Equip your family and friends with the best possible equipment. You should have the following unless you sold some equipment, but you can always obtain these again. Below what is listed is what you can purchase from the Gotha stores. Now would be a good time to take all the money out of your bank, which is where Patty the party planner is. Run around and earn gold as well as experience until you can afford everything listed, which will be around SANCHO: Sledgehammer, Spikes armour, Pot lid, Top hat. Buy: Tempest shield. PARRY: Zenithian sword, Zenithian shield, Full plate armour, Iron mask Buy: Dragon mail MADCHEN: Gringham whip, Lacy bustier, Scale shield, Silver tiara, Bianca's ribbon Buy: Shimmering dress TUPPENCE: Steel broadsword, Silver Mail, Iron shield, Iron helmet Buy: Dream blade, Dragon mail, Iron mask (actually Parry will be upgrading his helmet shortly so you don't need to get the iron mask for Tuppence, you can just transfer it from Parry). NOTE: I personally never used Tuppence in my active party, and stopped equipping him entirely. You can feel free to disregard him sooner then I did. Later when you decide to actively use Tuppence, I would recommend working the slots again to get another Metal King sword for him. After getting all this equipment, Zoom to Helmunaptra to get the Zenithian helmet for your son. ============================================================================= HELMUNAPTRA: Protagonist - LVL 30 Metal King Sword, Sacred armour, Tempest shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Sancho - LVL 20 Sledgehammer, Spikes armour, Tempest shield, Top hat. Parry - LVL 5 Zenithian sword, Zenithian shield, Dragon mail, Iron mask Madchen - LVL 5 Gringham whip, Shimmering dress, Scale shield, Silver tiara, Bianca's ribbon Tuppence - LVL 1 Dream blade, Dragon Mail, Iron shield, Iron mask Talk to the queen to get the Zenithian helmet from her for your little hero. Now Zoom to Coburg. ============================================================================= COBURG: Protagonist - LVL 30 Metal King Sword, Sacred armour, Tempest shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Sancho - LVL 20 Sledgehammer, Spikes armour, Tempest shield, Top hat. Parry - LVL 5 Zenithian sword, Zenithian shield, Dragon mail, Zenithian helmet Madchen - LVL 5 Gringham whip, Shimmering dress, Scale shield, Silver tiara, Bianca's ribbon Tuppence - LVL 1 Dream blade, Dragon Mail, Iron shield, Iron mask Go up to Harry's room, then run around and find your children. Find Kendrick back upstairs and he will give you the Hermes hat, which Madchen should wear. Now I would recommend power leveling for a while before progressing. Outside of Gotha near the cave of trials worked well for me to start with, but there may be more optimal locations. Once I got everybody up to level 20, which took an hour, I felt it was time to move on. Sancho should be able to Whistle now for future power leveling. Take to the seas and circle around the continent to the East. Eventually you will find an inlet that leads to a cavern to the north that you can enter with your boat. ============================================================================= WATERWAY IN ESTUARY SANCTUARY: Protagonist - LVL 31 Metal King Sword, Sacred armour, Tempest shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Sancho - LVL 24 Sledgehammer, Spikes armour, Tempest shield, Top hat. Parry - LVL 21 Zenithian sword, Zenithian shield, Dragon mail, Zenithian helmet Madchen - LVL 20 Gringham whip, Shimmering dress, Scale shield, Hermes' hat, Bianca's ribbon Tuppence - LVL 21 Dream blade, Dragon Mail, Iron shield, Iron mask Not much to find here, but you'll inevitably gain more levels. The monsters aren't very dangerous however. There is a mini medal here but you probably don't need to worry about them anymore unless you intend to farm certain monsters for more minimedals later (to get the King metal shield). Eventually you will arrive at the end of the cave, sail south to find the Lofty Peak. ============================================================================= LOFTY PEAK: Protagonist - LVL 32 Metal King Sword, Sacred armour, Tempest shield, Iron mask, Crude Image, Circle of Fire Sancho - LVL 25 Sledgehammer, Spikes armour, Tempest shield, Top hat. Parry - LVL 23 Zenithian sword, Zenithian shield, Dragon mail, Zenithian helmet Madchen - LVL 22 Gringham whip, Shimmering dress, Scale shield, Hermes' hat, Bianca's ribbon Tuppence - LVL 23 Dream blade, Dragon Mail, Iron shield, Iron mask The important things to pick up here are the Flying Carpet and the Magic Key. There is also a seed of resilience. You should also get a War hammer for Sancho, it will greatly improve his damage output. It isn't a bad idea to get some cash out of your vault (you can zoom to and from the Lofta Peak) and purchase some other pieces of armor. I got the Thinking cap for the |
