Walkthrough - Rare ItemsAt this point there's nothing else to do except to go for rare items With Treasure Hunt on the odds of a rare item dropping from any particular enemy is 08% so you have a bit of a time-sink ahead of you The main rare items that most people are going to want to go after are the tails so let's discuss those first There are several different tails you can collect from random enemies and trade to the Tail Collector back on Earth for incredibly good gear Remember that the Tail Collector lives in a little cave accessible from Mythril via the hovercraft Below is a list of the tails you can collect what you get in return and where best to farm for them *Black Tail -> Onion Armor Drops from Armored Fiends Use a Siren on B2-B3 of Bahamut's Cave Try to Steal a Rune Axe during this process if you want *Blue Tail -> Onion Shield Drops from Thunder Dragons Use a Siren on B2-B3 of the Path of the Eidolons *Green Tail -> Onion Helm Drops from Green Dragons Use a Siren by the Sealed Cave entrance *Pink Tail -> Adamant Armor Drops from Flan Princesses Use a Siren in the B5 Lunar Subterrane southeast room (which had a Red Fang in the chest) The easiest way to quickly defeat these is to have Cecil using Draw Attacks and Counter Set his first ability to use Stardust The fight should be over after 3 Stardust Counters *Red Tail -> Onion Sword Drops from Red Dragons Use a Siren on B8-B10 of the Lunar Subterrane Remember that Berserk and Hold both work on these mobs You can also try for Crystal Rings at the same time which is a rare Steal from these *Yellow Tail -> Onion Gloves Drops from Yellow Dragons Use a Siren by the Path of the Eidolons entrance These items all carry through onto New Game+ so they are worth obtaining in you are going to do New Game+ The next items that collectors are likely to want are the special Summons for Rydia These also carry over to New Game+ Here's a list of those and the easiest way to obtain them (remember to just have Cecil equipped with Kick/Counter/Draw Attacks to quickly end battles) *Bomb Drops from Balloons and Dark Grenades There is nowhere in the game to use Sirens to force these fights Just go to the easternmost Lunar Path as if you're heading to the final area and pray for good luck *Cockatrice Drops from Helldivers Cockatrices and Fledgling Rukhs There is nowhere in the game to use Sirens to repeatedly force these fights (you can summon them but they aren't the only option) Fight outside of Mysidia and you'll frequently encounter Cockatrices You can use Sirens to speed up encounter rates *Goblin Drops from Goblins and Lil Murders Use a Siren in the Mist Cave *Mindflayer Drops from Mindflayers Use a Siren in the passageway on B3 of the Lodestone Cavern The next items you'll want (that also carry over to New Game+) are the max HP/MP up items Here's the easiest way to get a large supply of these *Silver Apple Use a Siren on either of the top two floors of Mt Ordeals to encounter Lilith She'll die quickly and has a 24% chance (with Treasure Hunt) to drop one She also drops Lilith Rod with a 10% chance if you want one *Soma Drop Use a Siren on the first floor of the Lair of the Father to encounter Dark Sages These have a 10% chance (with Treasure Hunt) to drop these They also drop Ribbons with a 08% chance These are the main items you'll want as they carry over to subsequent playthroughs There are other nice items you might want to get see the item lists at the end of the guide to see what you're missing then consult the bestiary for where to get the drop/steal of the items you might want Be aware that aside from the items listed above and the Dark Matter you'll be stealing from Zeromus no other normal items (excluding Augments) carry over to New Game+ Also if the HP/MP boosting items are used those effects do not carry over to New Game+ so don't use them if you don't have to |
