Rydia is around for the least time, plus you'll be having her use Whyt most of the time. Antlion- Edward Rydia has already taken XP from Octomammoth, keep your levels down. Sahagin- Edward No-one else can >_> Mom Bomb- Rosa Leaves before the next forced fight. Fabul fights- Edward Cecil and Yang both keep thier XP. Scarmigilone and Zombies- Cecil About to be re-calculated to Level 1. Scarmigilone- Cecil About to be re-calculated to Level 1. Yang and Guards- Palom and Porom Splitting the XP keeps thier levels down, plus they leave soon. Baigan- Palom and Porom Splitting the XP keeps thier levels down, plus they leave soon. Cagnazzo- Palom and Porom Splitting the XP keeps thier levels down, plus they leave soon. Dark Elf- Tellah Leaves soon, only remaining battle is a joke. Magus Sisters- Tellah Leaves before next forced fight. Barbarrica- Cid Leaves before next forced fight. Calcabrina- Yang Leaves after Dark Goblins. Golbez- Yang Leaves after Dark Goblins. CPU- Fusoya Leaves immediately after, plus he doesn'r really level up at all. ################################################################ The Walkthrough ################################################################ 01) The Start of the Game, and the Mist Dragon. ################################################################ NOTE: I'm assuming you know your way through dungeons and the locations of treasures. I'm not going to hold your hand through this. NOTE2: Always complete your maps! _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Boss:Floating Eye x2 ................................HP- 40 each _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Just hit X and turn on Auto-Battle 2 attacks on each of them end this battle. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- -Go through the scene in Baron Castle. -Raid the castle and town for treasures, and then purchase enough Potions so that you have 10 Potions. -Save, then get to the Mist Cave. If you take any damage, re-load from that save. Save again at the cave. -Head through the cave and grab all the treasure. Heal up before facing Mist Dragon. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Boss:Mist Dragon ........................................HP- 556 _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Attack 3 times each and wait until it dissolves. Heal Kain during this time, if his HP is below 100. Repeat, keeping track of his HP as you go. Once he has less than 30 HP wait for the Dragon to dissolve into mist and wait 12 seconds. Now have Kain Jump and have Cecil Attack, so that he will be killed by the counter if he lives, attack again until Cecil does die. It will then return to Dragon form before Kain lands. If not, just heal wait for him to return, then Attack. Or, be boring and just have Cecil kill himself before Kain can finish the Dragon off. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- ################################################################ Spare XP- Kain ################################################################ Since Kain is about to leave and have his level recalculated we have an oppurtunity to use the rest of his XP before his next level up to gather Items and Gil. The only worthwile items are HiPotions and Pheonix Downs. That makes the best possible use for this XP 2 "Larva x4, Eyewing Moth x2" formations, which also gives us the most Gil possible. Save outside the cave and heal Kain. Then head in and walk around until you get into a battle with "Larva x4, Eyewing Moth x2" and then fight the battle on Auto-Battle, set to Jump. If you don't get a HiPotion or Pheonix Down, reset (unless you're happy with just the Gil). Repeat this. From this you will get- 52 Gil 2 HiPotions/2 Pheonix Down/1 HiPotion and 1 Pheonix Down Lovely. ^_^ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ################################################################ 02) Mist, Kaipo and an old man. ################################################################ -Save, and unequip Kain. -Mist Scene. -Save after the scene. Cecil will only have 1 HP, but getting to Kaipo is easy, and you'll be healed before the battle. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Boss:General, 3x Baron Guard...........HP- 45 each (Baron Guard) _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Just hit X and turn on Auto-Battle. Careful not to kill the General, thats XP we don't want. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- -Firstly, grab Auto-Potion and talk to Rosa. Don't give it to anyone yet though. -Set Whyt's ability to Thunder. -Play Rydia's mini-game. Whyt'll need at least 90 Int for these next few battles, so you'll be there a while. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- General Mathemagic Minute Tips _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- -Remember the numbers and QUICKLY shut your DS. -Put the numbers into this- http://nenem.jp/dsff4/eq10.cgi -Quickly do the sum and remember the next few numbers. -Repeat. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- -Once you've done that, head to the Old Waterway and talk to Tellah. -Head through all of the cave and save at the world map. -Head through the cave and face Octomammoth. -Heal before fighting him. -Equip Tellah with the Ice Rod, for the Int boost. -Equip Cecil with all of the Hades Gear and the Shadow Blade. -Equip Tellah with the Feathered Cap. -Auto-Battle Set up- Cecil; Darkness, Tellah;Poison and Rydia:Defend. ################################################################ 03) Lets make Sushi! The Octomammoth. ################################################################ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- A quick note about splitting Octomammoth's XP _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- You may think, that this is an easy choice. Tellah leaves right after this battle, so he should get the XP right? Wrong. Tellah is actually the worst person to recieve the XP, since he retains it when re-joins on Mt.Ordeals, as does Yang in Fabul. The best recipient of the XP is Rydia. In all of her remaining battles she'll just be using Whyt, meaning that her stats are irrellevant, bar HP and Speed. Cecil on the other hand as a while to go before being reset to Lvl 1. Rydia gets the XP. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Boss:Octomammoth.......................................HP- 3,350 _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-__-_-_-_-_- Hardest individual battle in the challenge. No, really. Auto-Battle straight away, hopefully Tellah's Poison will connect first time, if not keep trying. Have Cecil Attack, refreshing Darkness as it runs out and Tellah use Thunder. Follow his HP carefully, once it has 4 tentacles up... _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- If your Whyt has high Vitality and Agility _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Have Cecil kill Tellah and himself, then Summon Whyt. Whyt can just tank it out and kill him with Thunder before going down. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- If your Whyt doesn't have high Vitality and Agility _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Give Rydia Auto-Potion and equip her with the Feathered Cap and Gaia Gear. Have her Defend in the back row while Tellah and Cecil keep fighting. Don't heal either of them. If they're still alive at 1 tentacle, have them kill themselves. Let Poison finish the job. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Feeling lucky? _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Cast Blink on Rydia and keep fighting. Rydia can Cure as neccessary while Cecil and Tellah hack away at Octomammoth. Once he has around 100 HP, kill them both off and Defend with Rydia. Poison should finish the job. Rydia does not need Auto-Potion in this scenario. Change the Augment set-up so that Rydia gets Item Lore and Porom gets Auto-Potion. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Feeling REALLY lucky? _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- At 4 tentacles have Cecil and Tellah kill themselves. Summon Whyt with his ability set to Recall. Thundaga can kill Octomammoth at this stage. Of course that is a slim as hell chance of happenning. If you do this, go buy some lottery tickets. Seriously. Rydia does not need Auto-Potion in this scenario. Change the Augment set-up so that Rydia gets Item Lore and Porom gets Auto-Potion. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- ################################################################ 04) Damcyan, the Spoony Bard and the Antlion. ################################################################ -Exit to Damcyan. -Unequip Tellah. -Spoony Bard scene. -Raid the Damcyan treasure room. -Head back to Kaipo and set Whyt's ability to Blizzard. -Save outside the Antlion's Den. -Head into the cave, grab all the treasure and save. -Heal before facing the Antlion. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Boss:Antlion...........................................HP- 2,000 _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Straight away have Edward Hide. Now have Cecil Darkness and Rydia Poison. Have Cecil attack while his eyes are still white, so that the counter kills him. Summon Whyt once the eys are red, so that the counter to Blizzard will kill him. If he survives, don't bother summonning him and just have Rydia cast Blizzard so that the counter kills her. Have Edward wait for Poison to kill him. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- ################################################################ 05) Kaipo revisited, Mt. Hobbs and the Mom Bomb. ################################################################ -Head back to Kaipo. -Watch the cutscenes with Rosa, then Edward. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Boss:Sahagin..............................................HP-110 _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Let it never be said I am not thorough in what I consider a boss. Attack him a few times and win. The sheer difficulty of this battle has caused many a gamer to kill themselves over the years, I hope the same fate does not befall you. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- -Item Lore. GET ITEM LORE. -Again, make sure you have Item Lore. -Equip Rosa with Holy Arrows and Power Bow. -Head to Mt. Hobbs. -Fire cutscene. -Grab the treasure and save. -Heal before the fight. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Boss:Domovoisx3......................................HP-100 each _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Seriously, I'm thorough. Kick. I'm not even about to make a joke about this ones difficulty. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Boss:Mom Bomb..........................................HP-11,000 Bomb..................................................HP-55 Grey Bomb............................................HP-222 _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Start off by having Edward Hide straight away and then having Rosa Protect herself and Defend. Now we wait for Self-Destruct. Once Self Destruct has killed Yang, Rydia and Cecil have Edward return and HiPotion Rosa and have Rosa use a Bronze Hourglass. Have Rosa now Slow all of them and Aim at the front row. You should be able to finish the Bombs off before Stop wears away, but it doesn't really matter. Have Edward use Lullaby to put them all to sleep EVERY round. Have Rosa continue to Aim at each of them, 2 hits take them down. When you have one Grey Bomb left, have Edward Lullaby it and then kill Edward. Have Rosa finish off the last Grey Bomb. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- A note about Self Destruct. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- It is technically possible to acquire 0 XP from this battle, by having all the Bombs self destruct. This is incredibly boring though and you'll probably struggle to get it to happen anyway. You need to injure each bomb, Edward's Physical attack is a good way to damage the Bombs and Rosa's Aim can injure the Grey Bombs and make them start to Self Destruct. If you're actually going to try this, have everyone Defend in the firts battle and Rosa Protect everybody. Now just Defend (or Brace) and heal after each Self Destruct. You'll have to re-write the next section if you do this. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- ################################################################ Rosa's spare XP ################################################################ Rosa leaves soon, so lets see what we can get with her XP, shall we? The obvious choice, Cursed Ring, is required for Rubicante and the Four Fiends battle later on, so make sure to nab one of those. The Spiritx2 battle is the best place for that. You can find it on the summit of Mt.Hobbs. That leaves us with 2,129 XP to burn. If you have the patience, a Rainbow Pudding from the Red Mousse x4 troop is highly reccomended, if not go for a Silver Apple from the Alligatorx4 formation. I won't bother saying what the best formations are here, since it's all down to how patient you are willing to be. Make sure you do get a Cursed Ring though. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ################################################################ 06) Fabul and Mysidia. ################################################################ -Buy a Fire Claw and an Ice Claw. Do not equip them. -If you want, you can try and max out Whyt's Spirit. It's not important though. -Raid all the treasure. -Unequip Rosa. -Uneqip Cecil and Yang of thier armour. -Make sure Edward has the Lamia Harp. -Make sure you have at least 5 Phoenix Downs. -Head to the throne room. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Boss:Captain, Baron Marine x2...................HP-320, 210 each _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Have Cecil kill himself straight away, and then have Yang attack (and kill) one Marine. Attack Yang down to low enough HP for him to be killed by Edward, and have him finish the last Marine. Now immediately afterwards, kill Yang. The Captain will Retreat. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Boss:Sahagin x1, Domovoi x1, Leshy x1...........HP-100, 100, 130 _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Have Edward use Lullaby to put the group to sleep, then Phoenix Down Yang immediately. Have Yang attack kill Leshy, then Domovoi, before killing himself. Palom should be on standby to use a Zeus' Wrath whenever he prepares a Tsunami, Bluffing in between each use, and Defending. Porom should also Defend. Don't bother healing Yang, Cecil or Tellah and they'll die after a while, if not have Yang attack Tellah, then Cecil, then himself to death. Now just have the twins tank out the rest of the battle with Poison, healing between each attack. If he goes into his shell have Palom start using Bluffed Blizzaras like crazy, with Poison on top he won't get a chance to Heal. Defend through Lightning, and after Tornado use 2 HiPotions to heal the damage, then a Gold Needle for Petrify.
