Fire Emblem - Shadown Dragon for NDS is a good game, so I decided to write a FAQ about it; based on my previous FAQ for FE8 The Sacred Stones. That's all. Maybe this is the short introduction. However, I don't like the diffuseness and hate beating about the bush. Besides, there are some shorthands in this FAQ. For example: Swd (sword), Lnc (lance), Itm (item), Char (character),... I hope they don't irritate you. * This FAQ is written for Hard Mode (*), so maybe it's not fully compatible with other modes. * The grammar and style in this FAQ maybe not perfect. However, I have my own reasons: - About English, we have American English, British English, Autralian English,... In this FAQ, I've used Vietnamese English - use English by my native language. - This FAQ is only give you some basic guides, it's not a step-by-step guide. Besides, I don't like the diffuseness; so I wrote this FAQ as simple as possible. Moreover, I'm just an amateur player. I don't intend to make my FAQ become a masterpiece, a perfect guide or something like that. If you feel my FAQ is not good or lack of information, you can find other guides. * There are some gaiden chapters in the game. "Military tactics like water. The course of water runs from the high places to the lowers, the way in war is to avoid the strong and attack the weak. Water shapes its course according to the terrain, the tactician create the victory according to the opponent status. In war there are no fixed conditions, as water remains no fixed shape. The person who can change his tactics according to the opponent status and get the winning, maybe called a saintly tactician". (Sun Tzu - The Art of War) So, you will be the one who can make good ways to win the game, not my FAQ! * Watch all conversations, all events * Always preview the map before fighting! * Read the Guide function of the game for more details. * Try to recruit all playable chars, also LvUp them! One important thing: you can't use all of them. Therefore, just focus on your favourite chars! Besides, try not let anyone die. * Protect your Main Char (Marth) carefully. If he dies, the game will over and you'll replay from the beginning! * Keep flying units away from bows! * Save your money and goods (itms, wpns, etc...). * Items in secret shops are limit! Therefore, try to buy them all, and don't forget to use the Silver Card. * Arena is a good chance to LvUp your army as well. However, don't overuse it. You can win or loose quickly. Check it yourself. You can view my tips about the arena at the [UHT] section. * "Quality over quantity". If your chars are strong, you can use this strategy: "Use the few against the many"! * In the battle: - DON'T UNDERRATE YOUR ENEMY! - Check enemy movement carefully. Check and heal your HP frequently! - After ending your turn, just switch to Mini Map mode. - Use the weapon with HIGH ACCURACY and LIGHT WEIGHT. Also, remember the "Weapon Triangles" formula hence. o----------------------------o | Sword strong against Axe | | Axe strong against Spear | | Spear strong against Sword | o----------------------------o - Use all profitable elements (terrain, support, special effects...) to make the battle become easier. - If you want the stats of char increase better, let enemy atk him/her first. HOWEVER, BE CAREFUL WITH THIS STRATEGY, AND DON'T OVERUSE IT! - Try to get all valuable items from enemies. "Give them nothing, but take from them everything!" (The 300 Movie) - What else? Give Iron Lnc and Javelin for Caeda. Don't use Marth's Rapier and Caeda's Wing Spear until Chapter 5. I'll explain it later. - Weaken the thief, then let Caeda finish him. - Go left slowly. Enemy are axe-users, so use swords to beat them. Abuse these forts to recover HP. - What else? Buy 10-20 Heal staves. You should save, turn off your NDS and fully charging it. For more details, see the Arena part below. ---------------------- 1] New characters (2): ---------------------- - Matthis : Let Lena talk to him. - Merric : Visit the village (1). * CONVERSATIONS * - Lena > Matthis - Marth Matthis --------- 2] Items: --------- - (2): 5000g * Spoils: Ridersbane, Silver Sword (after finishing the chapter) ------------ 3] Strategy: ------------ - Kill the thief on the left immediately. - Move upper-left slowly, wait and clear enemy. Watch out the thief. - After recruiting Matthis, let him chase and erase the thief. The others will clear remaining enemy, of course. - Head to the castle slowly, lure enemy and erase them. Don't forget to recruit Merric. Merric's weapon is Excalibur, effective against flyers! Don't use it now. Give him other magics. - After finishing the boss, don't seize the castle now. Go to the Arena to train your team and gain money. - After finishing your task, seize the castle to the next chapter. You will also receive a Silver Sword. ------------- 4] The Arena: ------------- This is a good chance to train your team. Here are my tips: - Look at the arena tips again. - Train your favourite chars. Mine are Marth, Caeda, Barst, Bord, Ogma, Navarre, Darros. Train them until the WLV reach to C or B levels. - Let Lena heal injured allies. Also, abuse the castle gate and 2 forts nearby to recover HP. + Fort 1: on the left of the arena. Also, open the cell and recruit Rikard. - Move your team to the left slowly, wait and clear all enemies. Watch out these archers. - Let enemy thieves open all these chests (2-5). Afterward, kill them and get these items back. One action, two conveniences. - Head to the throne slowly and clear the way. - About the boss, you'll have 2 ways to finish him: a) Defeat him quickly by using anti-armor weapons and magics. b) Weaken him with ranged weapons. His HP will be recoved by the throne and the cleric nearby. This is the chance to gain EXP for some characters. Don't forget the thief. Kill him and get the key. Open the gate (x), head to the village, recruit Bantu and clear the way. - Head to the castle and wait at the Save Point. Minerva's team won't attack you, and they'll leave later. Afterward, go down. - When you enter the enemy area, some cavaliers will appear at the forts in several turns. Wait and kill them. One of them is equipped with Ridersbane, so be careful for your cavaliers. Roger and some enemies will go down, recruit him and clear the others. - Now, enter the arena! See my previous tips about the arena again. Train Roger as much as you can. He's very useful, because of his Def. Now you can buy Heal staves and Vulneraries in the vendor! - After completing your task, move up and clear the way. - More enemy will appear at these forts (x) in several turns. Take care of them, or block these forts as you want. - Head to the castle. Enemy will appear again. Don't forget to protect him. - Some pirates will appear at these forts below in several turns. Sure you knew what to do. - The boss is a Manakete, but quite weak! Use ranged weapons to send him to the hell. - What else?
