Walkthrough - Special Vehicles GuideGRAND THEFT AUTO: CHINATOWN WARS SPECIAL VEHICLES GUIDE Version 1.3 By GTA_Loco xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 1. WELCOME TO CHINATOWN xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx This guide will attempt to document practically every single special vehicle that can be found in the game, inclusion of many of them will mainly be for the purpose of completion of the list only. Definitely not all of them are worth the trouble acquiring or that many of them are practically useless to have, aside from the fact that there aren't enough garages to store them. Some methods will include a few additional details in the walkthrough, so please just bear with reading through them. They might be useful in giving you a bigger picture of the environment you have to work around on to facilitate your quest for the special vehicles. Basically, we're talking here of three main aspects that make these vehicles special: 1) Armoring: Protection of a vehicle from certain types of destruction. 2) Exclusive colors in their vehicle class. 3) Rarity: Something that's difficult to find or obtain. These are the properties not obtainable from ordinary vehicles you see driving around in free roam (with the exception of the taxi cab, after youve activated Taxi Shield), neither will you be able to create these properties (without using cheat codes or a mod device) in-game. In the case of rare ones, their being special stems from the fact that they are not the type of vehicle that can be regularly found anywhere at anytime in the game. However, not included here are the R3 vehicles. The only snag here is that these special vehicles can only be found when doing both storyline missions and some side objectives. Particularly, those in storyline missions are one-time appearance only, so its important not to miss them or that you should choose carefully which are the only ones that you would like to obtain, otherwise, you get one-shot only at an opportunity. This guide will be divided into four sections: 1.ARMORED VEHICLES 2.EXCLUSIVELY COLORED VEHICLES 3.RARE VEHICLES 4.UNOBTAINABLE SPECIAL VEHICLES. As for contributions, both for discovery of a vehicle and/or methods to obtain it, I will include as valid ones only those that didnt resort to using cheat codes or modifications. Rather strict huh? Well that should encourage you to brush up more on your gamesmanship then. Cheating is cool to an extent but spoils the fun and challenge, thats why this guide will only give recognition to those people whose efforts have involved raw skills only. Regularly this guide will be updated if new finds and/or better methods were submitted. Any additional informations on the same contribution will be entertained as confirmations. So maybe now we're clear about everything somehow? If you have something to contribute or inform me about anything related to this guide, please write me to: srgvm2005@yahoo.com I'll be more than glad to correspond with you on anything about special vehicles ONLY, but not on anything else about the game. Please just do that in the proper forum or consult other guides. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 2. Version 1.2 (June 19, 2009): Removed the White Voodoo as well as the Brown, Red and Yellow Dukes, and Black Admiral from the Exclusive Color list. Paintjobs for them turned out to be obtainable from a Pay N Spray or can be found in free roam. Added the Yellow Comet. Included more information about the garage, some details on the unobtainable vehicles and a new method to obtain the Violet Cognoscenti. Added Rare Vehicle section and another method how to acquire Chans Banshee in another mission. Version 1.3 (June 23, 2009): Bulletproof Comet added! Exclusively colored Angel, Turismo and Dukes added to the list as well. Fixed more errors and added missing information on some vehicles. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 5. SAFEHOUSES xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx There are a total of 21 safe houses that you can obtain from this game. 14 of these properties are purchasable, 5 are mission acquired, 1 can be won from any of the scratchcard stores and one more can be obtained from a random character named Wilhelm. The following is a list of all the safe houses you can own and some descriptions about them: A. Purchasable Safe houses Assuming you have sufficient cash in hand, you can already buy these safe houses that are available for sale right from the beginning of the game. You can save in the place and be able to use its garage wherever theres one. Out of the 14 you can buy, 9 have a garage while the rest have none. How to buy them is explained in simple terms by the in-game instructions. Total cost you have to spend for the properties if for one reason or another you intend to own practically all of them would reach to $134,000. But if youre planning on having only the ones with a garage, then your expenditure can still be trimmed down to $94,000. 1. Northwood Garage : Yes Price : $9000 2. The Meat Quarter Garage : Yes Price : $9,000 3. Middle Park Garage : No Price : $8,000 4. Suffolk Garage : No Price : $9,000 5. Varsity Heights Garage : Yes Price : $8000 6. Colony Island Garage : Yes Price : $11,000 7. Firefly Island Garage : No Price : $7000 8. Hove Beach Garage : Yes Price : $8000 9. Hove Beach Garage : No Price : $8000 10.South Slopes Garage : Yes Price : $12,000 11.BOABO Garage : Yes Price : $10,000 12.Rotterdam Hill Garage : No Price : $8000 13.Steinway Garage : Yes Price : $15,000 14.Little Bay Garage : Yes Price : $12,000 B. Storyline Mission Unlockables Apart from the ones you can buy, there are five other safe houses that are post mission acquisitions, meaning they are opened for you by a character after you have completed a certain mission. No need to spend extra money for them, youll just receive an email informing you that you can use them already. The mission to be accomplished to unlock a certain safe house may not necessarily be for the character that would open it for you, but follows more the progress of the story. South Bohan safe house would be opened by Wade Heston while the four others would be given by Kenny Yu. 1. Cerveza Heights Garage : Yes Mission : Yu Jian 2. South Behan Garage : No Mission : Raw Deal 3. Lancaster Garage : Yes Mission : Carpe Dime 4. Lower Easton Garage : Yes Mission : Missed the Boat? 5. Northwood Garage : Yes Mission : Grave Situation C. Wilhelm Character Unlockable Random characters are back in the game since they were first introduced in GTA 4; doing some favors for them would normally conclude your tasks with a reward. From one of these characters, a guy named Wilhelm, you can acquire a safe house after you have completed three tasks for him. However, this guy can be found only after you have completed the mission Carpe Dime and hell be at different locations for each encounter. a. Encounter 1 - (Daytime only) In the Steinway district of Dukes in front of Zhou Mings place. Give Wilhelm a lift to a foreclosure auction. Theres a time limit for this and would require a long drive, so make sure you dont dawdle. Reward: $250 b. Encounter 2 (Daytime only) Standing in front of a house in the Meadow Hills at Willis. He needs a lift to another auction. Theres a time limit again for this task. Reward: $500 c. Encounter 3 - (Day or night) Standing at the railing halfway across Dukes Bay Bridge. On this last encounter, Wilhelm is despondent over his loss that will lead to his committing suicide. Consequently, you will find the keys to his house in Meadow Hills, Willis, which will serve as your safe house. Reward: Meadows Hills Location : Willis, Dukes district Garage : Yes D. Scratch Card Prize Located at different parts of the city are scratchcard stores that offer different prizes. You pay for a card and you scratch it to reveal a prize. If you find three similar symbols of a prize, you win it. Its as simple as that. In some of these stores you can find a green card that bears the promotion Im Rich. This is the only one that offers a house as a prize. Buy this one, and if youre lucky enough, you can win a suite at the Star Junction in the West borough. You will be notified by a message about this, just check on your map where this place is located. 1. Star Junction Garage : No Location : West Borough ***************************************************************************** 5.01: Garage Facts and Features ***************************************************************************** In order not to get inconvenienced by overlooked facts on how you can utilized the garage, its important to understand first some features about it. 1. One Vehicle Capacity Under normal circumstances, its not possible to keep more than one vehicle in any of your garages, so any extra one you force into it would be deleted. Technical capacity or Absolute capacity-wise, strictly one can only be stored. Saving priority is usually given to the one youre driving. Small vans, cars and motorcycles are the only technically allowable vehicles; absolutely no heavy ones that include trucks, big vans or a tank. Boats cant be push to the garage because of the terrain issue, and forget about aircrafts like a helicopter since theres nothing flyable anyway under normal circumstances. A good thing about the garages is that they are glitch proof; something that had constantly bugged a lot of garage user gamers in the past. Youll never have to worry about your stored vehicle suddenly vanishing inside a garage or being eaten by it. The only compromise here is their limited storage capacity in exchange for efficiency. 2. Chevrons Operated Theres a new switch system of a garage in the form of animated chevrons. You open it by driving a vehicle into the moving green v-shape thingy located at the base of its door. However, these chevrons wont function under certain conditions that involve the following: a) The garage is occupied already and you drive a vehicle on the chevrons. b) Youre using Huangs body to open the garage door when its vacant. Huang can only trigger the switch in a vehicle. c) More than one vehicle are within the chevrons. This makes it quite impossible to perform a second vehicle push on a locked vehicle that youd like to unlock using the garage. d) Youre trying to store certain vehicles related to a mission while its on. e) The vehicle exceeds the technically allowable size. The last three conditions in particular can be quite a disadvantage with regards to your quest on certain special vehicles. An occasion may arise wherein you might need to keep one in the garage during a mission or youll encounter one with locked doors. A couple of big bulletproof vehicles can also be found in one mission. 3. Bulletproof Only Garages wont keep other armoring in a vehicle other than a bulletproofing. In fact, they would even remove this special property in some of the vehicles that render them useless to acquire. This is one reason why the number of Comprehensiveproof and BP/EP/FP vehicles in the list of unobtainable is quite a lot. 4. Forced Duplication For some strange reasons, primary assigned mission vehicles can literally be duplicated when forced inside a garage while the mission is on. However, this cant be determined yet whether its a normal feature in the garage mechanics or some sort of a glitch, given that theres quite an inconsistency on how this duplication can occur and the manner in which it affects your game. There are at least three documented cases that describe this phenomenon: 1)If you tried keeping in a garage a mission vehicle and the one youre driving during a mission, the former would be deleted and replaced by another one of the latter. However, this can stuck your game in that Huangs programmed action of retrieving a vehicle from the garage would end up with him driving out the duplicate every time and never the original one. Youd have an unlimited copy of the vehicle without ever proceeding with your task. Youll have to redo the mission again either by committing suicide, getting busted or just reloading the game. 2)If you store in a garage a mission vehicle at a certain stage in the mission, it would be duplicated when you try to retrieve it, but once you get in the duplicate, the garages door would close down trapping you inside. However, this can be solved by simply destroying the vehicle to fail the mission and then just restarting it. The destroyed vehicle would be restored back and would remain in the garage. Just make sure the restart period doesnt expire while youre trapped. 3)If you apply 1 or 2, sometimes youll spawn back on the road just adjacent to your garage. But the problem here also is how to get back on the mission vehicle again to proceed with your task, so eventually youll have to resort to ways to restart the mission. 5.Garage Cut scene Previously, it was just entering and leaving an interior that plays a short cut scene. But in Chinatown Wars, this was applied as well in entering or getting out from a garage. This gives you without control then when retrieving a stored vehicle, that poses a difficulty in choosing which one to drive out in case a couple of them accidentally get stuck inside. ***************************************************************************** 5.02: Bypassing the Chevron Function ***************************************************************************** Apart from the issue of locked doors, big vehicles and most of those connected with a mission generate a sort of a sensitive reverse polarity with the chevrons that bounces them off away from the garage. So in order to sort of bypass the chevrons, you have to open the garage door first before you can push something inside. Take note also that youll be unable to dismount from your ride once you have opened the garages door so everything that you must do have to be done while youre riding in a vehicle. The process can be quite tedious and time-consuming, but it will always work. First, position the vehicle you want to push inside the garage near the door so that the vehicles front or rear would be barely touching the chevrons. Slightly angle it so that when you clip its other end, you can move it slowly further towards the opened garage door. If the vehicle is locked, use another one to facilitate your task. Next is to drive another vehicle into the chevrons to open the garage door. While the door is open, bump into the other vehicle to move it towards the opening, until a substantial part of it can already be pushed inside. You have to be within the perimeter of the chevrons all the while youre performing this to keep the door open, and dont worry about the switch deactivating for as long as youre still within the chevrons. Be careful though not to trigger the short cut scene by going substantially inside the garage with the vehicle youre driving or the other one might disappear. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 6. RELEVANT GAME FACTS xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx a) You cant use Huangs body for pushing any type of vehicle similar to Nikko Bellic of GTA4. So when obtaining a vehicle its absolutely necessary to use another one for the job. In this regards also, be extra careful not to have a vehicle stuck in an enclosure, or it will be impossible to retrieve it. b) The water cant be used anymore for the preservation of special properties. What used to be an effective way in keeping the armoring of a vehicle or failing your assignment when necessary to obtain a special vehicle can no longer be utilized. The terrain on the beach, elevation of the wooden planks on the docks and access ramp in a pool of water have been adjusted slightly steeper so that when you touch the water, you will quickly get submerged. For dunking a vehicle, it will quickly go underwater and can no longer be retrieved. c) A burnt out vehicle disappears quickly. Itll only take a few seconds for it to vanish once its destroyed as charred, so theres no point attempting to restore it in a garage. This is unlike in the previous GTAs where blown up vehicles stay in the environment for as long as you have visual contact or in close proximity with it. d) Most vehicles are either locked or disabled that you need to hotwire every time. Theres a simple bypass on the latter however, by just canceling the hotwiring scene and getting in the vehicle again. This would sound the alarm and might alert the cops, but its something thats negligible. e) Mission replays are in the game; redoing accomplished missions however, absolutely wont alter anything thats been achieved already in the normal gameplay. These mission replays are simply for time trials. f) Pay N Sprays wont accommodate big vehicles like a truck, van or similar types. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 7. STARTING A NEW GAME xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx You must prepare yourself properly and plan everything out before you proceed with your quest ahead. 1. Make Some Money First This is an essential commodity in the game. Owning all or some of the safe houses would involve a substantial amount, therefore its necessary to invest some time and effort raising some much needed cash. You can find quite a lot of activities, both free roam ones or side missions that will generate a good amount of money to boost your resources. Some good sources of income include: a) Scratch Cards b) Rampages c) Time Trials 2. Upgrade Your Skills & Tools Perform some side missions/odd jobs that will upgrade your abilities and arsenal. At least a few of these will provide you with indispensable improvement in your physical properties or tools for protection that are crucial for your survival. a) Taxi mission Complete 15 fares in a row and youll activate Taxi Shield, upgrading practically all taxi cabs driving around the city to a bulletproof car. This upgrade isnt a one time opportunity but is applied on a permanent basis. So aside from earning some needed money from doing this side mission, the bulletproofing bonus youll get can be very useful when doing dangerous tasks. b) Vigilante Complete 5 waves with 100% kill rate to double your body armor. You can also pick up some weapons from your victims ranging from melee weapons to a flamethrower. This would save you some money from having to purchase weapons. c) Firefighter Complete 5 waves with 100% save rate will make you fire retardant. Immunity from fire will benefit you a lot when figuring in a literally fiery situation, which can happen in a lot of occasions. d) Paramedic Complete 5 waves with 100% save rate will provide you with infinite sprint. This is quite useful for running away without getting tired in case you need to. e) Noodle Run Get gold medals for both of this odd job located at Algonquin and Dukes to unlock Regeneration. Your health will re-generate when its low critically prolonging your life, definitely better than the measly health boost you get from the previous GTAs. This in fact renders you almost invulnerable from most life-threatening injuries although explosions can still kill you. Having this special ability gives you greater chance of surviving a life and death situation when on a mission or otherwise. 3. Buy Your Safe houses When you have raised enough cash to make some real property purchases, prioritize in obtaining as much as you can afford the places with a garage. Since part of your primary objective would be the acquisition of vehicles thats why youre consulting this guide, its only logical to go for safe houses where have a space to store them. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 8. DEFINITION OF TERMS xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Lets try to understand first the meaning of a few terms used in this guide. Vehicle classification with regards to their special properties, will be considered mainly in the order of importance given to them namely, Comprehensiveproof is at the top of the list, followed by Bulletproof, Explosionproof, Fireproof, Damageproof, Exclusively Colored & lastly Rare. We'll also define these properties individually for clarity and mainly for reference. Anyone having one or more of these (except the Comprehensiveproof) will be termed in some instances for purpose of brevity, as the following example: BP/EP/FP -Bulletproof/Explosionproof/Fireproof; BP/FP - Bulletproof/Fireproof, etc. ARMOR/ARMORED/ARMORING Defensive covering of a vehicle against certain forms of destructive means. Certain structural features are constructed with added strengthening to permanently withstand damages that can lead to the vehicles destruction. This do not necessarily refer to fighting vehicles only such as a tank, but the definition covers broadly the different types of vehicle protection applied in-game, ranging from fireproof to bulletproof, to comprehensiveproof. CP - Comprehensiveproof: This is essentially a BP/EP/FP/DP or perhaps one you can say as "indestructible" or "invulnerable; a vehicle that has all the armoring it can possibly have. Most forms of damaging means under NORMAL circumstances cannot destroy it, be it with whatever type of weapons or physical abuse. BP - Bulletproof: Complete protection from any form of gunfire. An armored vehicle (though not necessarily a fighting vehicle like a tank) capable of withstanding and stopping 100%, any type of bullet or a direct shot from any bullet-based weapon; ranging from pistols to a minimum. EP -Explosionproof: As the term implies, any form of explosive devise or form of explosion cannot destroy a vehicle that has this quality; be it hand grenades, Rags, exploding vehicles or even a cannon fire from a Rhino! DP -Damageproof: Vehicle does not sustain any form of physical destruction, in terms of denting and deterioration of its health due to repeated physical abuse like crashing or getting hit with melee weapons. Motorbikes for one don't get dented but you'll know if they sustain damages from crashing if you see them smoke after awhile. FP - Fireproof: This is perhaps the least of all protections. Fire retardant and indestructible from any form of blaze, ranging from a molotov to a flamethrower and the vehicle won't catch fire that might destroy it. EC - Exclusive Color: There are vehicles that do not have any armoring at all, but have a paintjob that is unobtainable from any Pay n Spray. The colors aren't anything unique by themselves, but something that is applied only in one vehicle from among the rest in its class. Lets say a Patriot may not have any yellow color that can be obtained from the Pay N Spray, so in the presence of such color on the vehicle on a mission, said Patriot can be classified as an Exclusive Color vehicle. In some cases the "exclusivity" of a color scheme is in the way they are applied to a given vehicle. They may be the same colors you can ordinarily get for the vehicle but the application can be in a different way. There are some that sport an exclusive color and are armored as well. RARE Its a vehicle that has a very limited presence in the game. It's not a different version of a regularly spawning vehicle, in most cases not armored or exclusively colored, but one that you can only find inside a mission or chance circumstances. OBTAINABLE/UNOBTAINABLE - The terms refer to the final state of the special property/properties of the vehicle or the vehicle itself, whether it/they can be acquired and saved or not, when a mission is tactically failed intentionally or successfully completed. MISSION SCRIPT Usage of this term in the guide refers more to the nature of a given assignment, with a specific focus on the aspect of the scripts opcode involving your actions in relation to the law enforcers behavior. At least five types are documented here: 1) Normal- Maximum penalty is enforced as dictated by default game script. Depending on which progress you are in the game, the maximum number of stars are applied with the regular appearance of corresponding law enforcers when you commit a felony that warranted them. 2) Low Wanted Level Penalty does not exceed one or two stars however extensive your commission of violation is. The regular cops in light blue shirt are the only ones present but they would still bust you in the normal way. 3) Location-specific Elimination - This is a no wanted level applied to a limited area only. Your penalty is kept at zero within a given area where heavy action is taking place. Out of the mission location however, your wanted level is instated as normal and law enforcers would try to bust you in the normal ways. 4) Felony Allowed Basically similar to a Low Wanted Level, but with the absence of law enforcers anywhere in the city. You get slapped with one star wanted level only regardless of how much violation you commit. 5) No Wanted Level Absolutely no police action would be taken against you no matter how many crimes you perpetrate. Police may not be around or they maybe present but their response is absolutely set to zero. This is exploitable however insignificant this opportunity may be, although some missions may have some limiting factors in your actions. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 9. THE WALKTHROUGHS xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx In roughly storyline order, here are the walkthroughs on how you can acquire the special vehicles. Difficulty rating was based on the whole process involved in obtaining them, inclusive of the stage or stages in the mission that you have to go through, as well as after the mission is failed or passed. It is mainly for reference, just an approximate and can be subjective, given that actual difficulty or ease of acquiring the special vehicles can vary on the skills of players. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 10. BULLETPROOF VEHICLES xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx This is the only type of armored vehicle that you can absolutely obtain in GTA: Chinatown Wars, unlike in the previous GTAs where theres usually a plethora of them. In particular about the armoring, there were also known unpredictable manners in which they behave, affected by how you interact with a vehicle, which can make or break the preservation of the special properties. They can also be altered or deleted whenever doing a certain side objective or a storyline mission. San Andreas had one main mission that at a certain stage would replace any armoring with an Explosionproof/Fireproof one, Vice City Stories had an almost similar case but with the addition of the street races deleting practically all of whatever armoring your vehicle has. Liberty City Stories only had the street races that do this, while in GTA 4, vigilante strips off all armoring. Chinatown Wars however does not have any tasks that disable the armoring, so you can safely use your bulletproof vehicle for whatever purpose. A few main storyline missions plus most of the random characters may generate additional armoring to your bulletproof vehicle, but they dont cripple the original special property. ***************************************************************************** 10.01: BULLETPROOF TAXI ***************************************************************************** Mission : Taxi Mission Location : Liberty City Character : none Difficulty : 2 or 3 Source : Reconite Mission Script: Normal This is perhaps the most available and easier to obtain bulletproof car and one that is created by a side-mission. Simply do 15 fares in a row of the taxi mission and you'll activate "Taxi Shield", making all taxi cabs that youll find anywhere in the city and in free roam permanently bulletproof. ***************************************************************************** 10.02: BULLETPROOF STYLE SR ***************************************************************************** Mission : Stealing the Show Character : Zhou Ming Location : East Island City Difficulty : 2 or 3 Source : GTA_Loco Required : Pass or Fail mission Mission Script: Normal Scenario for 10.02 10.07: Your task for Zhou is to help him steal some crates from a flatbed truck before it can make its way to a rival gangs warehouse. While youre on the back of the truck, your movement will be restricted to throwing 15 crates to Zhou wholl be following you in his Bobcat. You wont be able to get off, your weapons selection is disabled and you cant do anything else at this point (apart from being able to perform some useless stationary martial arts moves). Youll be released from your stuck position only after youve completed offloading the required number of crates. Along the way you will find some vehicles on the streets involved in scripted scenarios, some are just parked on the roadside and at least a few others can be seen driving down the road. As unrecognizable as they may be, a good number of these are in fact bulletproof vehicles that can be obtained and saved in the garage even while the mission is on. The only catch here is you can only get them when you can finally get off the truck or that you still see them around when you dismount. Take note however that the bulletproof vehicles are ONLY THE ONES THAT YOU SEE BEFORE YOU JUMP OFF THE TRUCK. The others that would spawn once youre on the ground already would be just normal ones. It might be a good idea also to make a pass on this mission several times, just to memorize the route the flatbed truck would take and the scripted background scenarios youll encounter along the way. Now you may have missed a real-world opportunity of pre-ordering online a couple of sporty cars as bonuses in the game, but there would be another good opportunity of owning a cool one in the guise of the Style SR when you do this mission for Zhou. You can find this car being chased by a police car somewhere in the mission. There will be two occasions where youd encounter this chase and have a shot at an opportunity in stealing this. METHOD 1(GTA_Loco) Start the mission until the point where you have to get on the back of a flatbed truck. Throw 15 crates to Zhou as quickly as you can to be able to get off the truck when needed, and you must do this before the truck turns left to Schottler. Because once you reach that place, expect to encounter a police chase that would pass by on the same road youre on. This chase involves a Style SR and a police car, both of which are bulletproof cars. As soon as you see the chase or have estimated its occurence, press X as quickly as you can. Once you set foot on the road, the chase would end and the bulletproof Style SR as well the bulletproof police car would slow down. Sprint towards the sports car and quickly grab it from its driver. Save it first to your nearest garage, and from this point, dont fail or pass the mission yet. You need to get a few more bulletproof vehicles along the way. Now the second time that youd see this chase again would be on the nearby road just north of your South Slopes safe house. If you failed to dismount from the truck the first time you saw the chase, youll have a second and last chance to get the car when it happens again near your safe house. The only caveat here is, once youve dismounted from the truck, the chase wont happen anymore. So if you got off prematurely or failed to snatch the sports car on the first occasion, youve just lost an opportunity and must redo the mission. You may succeed on the second chance but this would mean missing the opportunity of obtaining the other bulletproof cars along the way, given that in order for the chase to happen, you have to stay on the truck. And the second time the chase will happen again would be after you pass by the other bulletproof cars. Now any visual contact made with those cars would mean theyd be gone for good once you leave them behind. So if by some miscalculations you obtained this car on the second occasion and would still like to get the others, then you have to fail the mission. ***************************************************************************** 10.03: BULLETPROOF LIMO ***************************************************************************** Mission : Stealing the Show Character : Zhou Ming Location : East Island City Difficulty : 1 Source : GTA_Loco Required : Fail mission Mission Script: Normal Assuming youve successfully acquired the bulletproof Style SR on the first occasion, its time to proceed with getting the others. This bulletproof Limo is technically the fourth bulletproof car you can encounter. It can be found parked in front of what appears to be a hotel in an alleyway at South Slopes where the flatbed truck will pass through. At this point, you shouldve finished throwing the 15 crates to Zhou, and mustve memorized already the location of this car. METHOD 1 (GTA_Loco) From the point where you left Zhou to save in the garage the bulletproof Style SR, simply take any vehicle and head back to where the Limo is, assuming youve memorized already the location. It wont just disappear from where it is parked even if you didnt pass by it while youre on the truck. The only catch here is if youve already made visual contact with it one way or another, it will disappear once you leave it behind. Now this car is one that the garage wont accommodate while youre still doing the mission, and one thats quite long and difficult to keep in the garage applying the chevron bypass technique. Its essential therefore that you fail the mission in order to keep this. So once you find the Limo, get in the car, drive where you left Zhou and destroy his Bobcat to kill him. After you terminate your task, you can already keep this Limo in the garage. ***************************************************************************** 10.04: BULLETPROOF DUKES 1 0f 3 ***************************************************************************** Mission : Stealing the Show Character : Zhou Ming Location : East Island City Difficulty : 5 Source : GTA_Loco Required : Pass or Fail mission Mission Script: Normal This must be the hardest BP Dukes to obtain among the existing ones in the game. It's kind of a tricky bugger, in that the conditions involved in providing you an opportunity to obtain this are kind of inconsistent. You can find at least a couple of this on a couple of occasions during the mission; first time is somewhere along the way in Schottler where youd see this driving down the road, and the second time is in an alleyway in South Slopes near your safe house slammed against a Sultan. This would teleport in a healthy condition in front of your safe house once you set foot on the ground. METHOD 1 (GTA_Loco) This is for the Dukes car that youll find driving down the road. This is the second bulletproof car you can obtain, but you wont encounter this anymore if you got off the truck earlier to acquire the Style SR on the first occasion. Its best to just go for this on another attempt. So do the mission until the point where you have to throw 15 crates to Zhou. Quickly dispose of this task and wait until you pass by a road in Schottler where a bus is parked on the side of the road. At this point, youd notice a few cars driving nearby, in most instances this Dukes would be one of them. When you have a visual on this car, quickly get off the truck and chase it. Intercept the car and hit it with a melee weapon to scare off the driver, while being careful not to alert the cops. Resorting to the melee weapon is necessary given that for some reasons, Huang wouldnt respond to the X button press if theres still a driver inside. And since it is BP/EP/FP at this stage, other weapons wont have any effect on it. But assuming you succeed to force him out, just get in the car, store it first in your garage and decide for yourself whether complete the mission or to get all the other bulletproof vehicles in the game. If you decide on the latter, you must fail the mission at this point. Be forewarned though that once youre on the road, other normal cars including some Dukes would spawn and you might get confused with which one is the bulletproof. You must keep a good eye on the real one and avoid the confusion. METHOD 2 (GTA_Loco) You have a second opportunity on having the bulletproof Dukes in case you missed getting it on the first encounter. This would occur right in front of your safe house. Start the mission up to the point where you have to throw 15 crates to Zhou, which you must do so quickly before you arrive at the vicinity of your South Slopes safe house. As you approach the place, get off the truck and go on foot or steal another vehicle. As if by magic youll find a Dukes, a Blista, and sometimes a Yankee or a Taxi (you can ignore this if youve already activated Taxi Shield) suddenly appear along the road in front of your safe house, which are all bulletproof vehicles. Since your particular interest is on the Dukes, intercept this car and repeatedly hit it with a melee weapon but do so with caution to avoid the cops. You have to scare off its occupant for exactly the same reasons as with your first encounter of this car. There would be times when the driver would easily get off, but sometimes he would either try to speed away or would never get off the car and youll just eventually destroy it. Assuming you manage to make him come out, just get in the car and save it to your garage. At this point, if you still plan on getting the remaining bulletproof cars, whether you obtain this Dukes or not, its time to fail the entire mission. In any case, you will still have a couple more opportunities to get a much easier to obtain bulletproof Dukes from a couple of missions at a later time. ***************************************************************************** 10.05: BULLETPROOF BLISTA ***************************************************************************** Mission : Stealing the Show Character : Zhou Ming Location : East Island City Difficulty : 5 Source : GTA_Loco Required : Pass or Fail mission Mission Script: Normal Almost similarly as with your encounter with the bulletproof Dukes, this car is also a second bulletproof car you can obtain and involves basically the same conditions in as far as the inconsistent manner on how you can obtain it. You can find this on at least two occasions also; first chance is on the road when you reach the vicinity where a bus is parked, and the second chance is when its spawns in front of your South Slopes safe house. METHOD 1 (GTA_Loco) Start the mission, throw all the 15 crates to Zhou as quickly as you can before you arrive at a location where a bus is parked. Once youre within the vicinity, you will find this car among the others driving down the road. At this point, get off the truck and chase this car. Dont ever get confused with the other vehicles including some Blista cars that would spawn on the road once youre on the ground. Keep a good eye on this one and carefully follow it wherever it goes. Hit it with a melee weapon once you intercept it to force the driver out, but be wary of the cops. Huangs response to the X button press is also disabled for this car similar with the Dukes case. Also, sometimes you will easily scare the occupant, sometimes it will try to speed away and sometimes the driver will never come out whatever you do. But assuming that you manage to steal the car, save it to the garage first before you proceed. If you failed to get the car on this occasion, dont worry, as youll have another chance somewhere else within the same mission. METHOD 2 (GTA_Loco) Alternatively, if you didnt get the car the first time, youll have another shot at it when it appears in front of your safe house. So from the point where you lost the Blista car on the first occasion, simply head back to your South Slopes safe house where this car will magically appear in front along with some other vehicles. Approach it and try to force the driver out with a melee weapon but be wary of the cops when youre harassing the cars driver. If you succeed, store the car to your garage and then head back to where you left Zhou, destroy his Bobcat to kill him and fail the mission. You need to do this since theres a bulletproof Yankee that you still have to get. ***************************************************************************** 10.06: BULLETPROOF YANKEE ***************************************************************************** Mission : Stealing the Show Character : Zhou Ming Location : East Island City Difficulty : 3 Source : GTA_Loco Required : Pass or Fail mission Mission Script: Normal As mentioned earlier in the bulletproof Dukes and Blista informations, among the vehicles that would spawn in front of your South Slopes safe house is also this van. At other times, this can be seen as well on a first encounter at the Schottler vicinity where a bus is parked thereby sometimes also making this a second bulletproof vehicle in the mission. There may be occasions when it wont appear, so you must redo the mission until you find it. This is definitely a big vehicle that cant be technically accommodated by the garage. However, the good news is that despite its size you can still push it inside by applying the technique outlined in this guides section about bypassing the chevron function. METHOD 2 (GTA_Loco) Start the mission, throw all the 15 crates to Zhou as quickly as you can before you pass by your South Slopes safe house. Before you reach the place, get off the truck and just go on foot. If the Yankee appears in front of your safe house, chase it and try to force the driver out by hitting the van with a melee weapon but without alerting the annoying cops. Keep a good eye on this one while attempting to steal it especially once it goes down the main road. Other normal Yankees might appear and you might get confused on which one is the bulletproof. |
