I had the same problem and it turns out that...
you have to give rock a present every day for like 3 years... if you miss one day his
affection for you goes down by about 200 (if you're lucky)
i know he really likes fruit juice and his birthday is spring 7 i think

I had the same problem! First make sure you have all the variables correct(seen black
heart event,11:00-4:00.inner inn,rock at purple heart,not tuesday or friday) if it still
doesn't work, simply reload your game and try again,or wait for the next day. Hope this
