Ok, so Taro comes to your house for tutorials. When he comes in for the crops tutorial, plant the 3 bags of turnip seeds you're given. If you don't plant the 3 bags, you don't keep the turnip seeds, only the other 2 that you automatically have (you automatically have 2 bags of turnip seeds in the beginning of the game). Make sure you also have enough stamina to plant the turnips, or you will lose the chance to get the 3 extra bags. If anything is confusing, please comment below.
