With fans clamoring for a new game for years, Game Arts finally answered them. Unfortunately, the final product was not wholly favourably received. In any case, there is a lot of stuff to be documented in the game, so here is the culmination of my work on it, which should contribute to the overall completeness of game documentation. ~Darkstar Ripclaw -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1a. Retrieve that Package! RTTPC =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Port Searis -=-=-=-=-=- Watch intro, scroll through Jian's opening soliliquoy. Leave the room and go down the stairs at the southwest corner of the hallway, and then talk to Cherenkov, the innkeeper, at the front counter. Once done that, exit the Inn out onto the Port Searis map, and head over to Jack's House. Inside, talk to Jack, and he'll reveal your next destination. Exit his house, and head to Fountain Square. Here, head over and examine the parasol, and watch the next cutscene. After, exit out back to the map again. Head over to the Gad's Express, and in here, talk to Gad at the front counter. Take the 'To Gad's Express' job, and leave the building. Head over to the Weapon Shop. At this point in time, I recommend you getting Sneakers, as it'll make the next part infinitely easier. After, exit the store, and choose Leave Town to exit to the overworld. On the overworld, go to Thieves' Wood. Thieves' Wood -=-=-=-=-=-=- In the first room, head along the dirt road until you see a slope to your right side, and go up. Continue on left and open the chest for a HEALING GUM, then go down back onto the road. Cross the bridge, and you'll get ambushed by a number of Yetis who steal your package, which means we'll have to temporarily redivert our path. With that, continue on the dirt road to the end, and then head up the slope onto another road. Continue up to the top 'til you reach a fork in the road, and then head left. Go along a ways on the next screen and talk to the two guys here, then backtrack to the fork on the previous area. Head right. Just before the wooden pegs that signify the exit to this area, head down and then right through the trees to find a chest. Open it for a HEALING GUM. Defeat all enemies in this first room, and then return to the entrance. Head up the dirt road a bit, then head left through the forest and find a blue chest. Open it for some CLOGS. With that done, go back to the fork in the road, and head right to get into the next room. Coming into room two, follow the dirt road for the longest of times, ignoring even the slope that goes downhill. Instead, wait until you finally get to the uphill slope, and go up there. Head right, ignoring the log-connected islands and any large expanse to the north, and instead continue the road. When it finally breaks, continue on down south to the cliff face, and open a wooden box for a HEALING GUM. Now go back and slay all the monsters in the area, and go to the log-connected islands. Open the blue chest for a WONDER UMBRELLA. Get back onto the road, and head left. Continue along and go up to the northwest exit, and out onto the overworld. Head to Perit Village. Perit Village -=-=-=-=-=-=- Here, go to Enos' house right away, and once inside, head up to the second floor. Talk to the village chief Enos, and he'll reveal that the Sasquatch at Delrich Temple is behind the theft. Enos will also point out that the rocks blocking the path to Delrich Temple have been removed, so our next destination is now set. Leave Enos' House, go and examine the Althena Statue in the Well Area if you need to, then go to the overworld. Head to Thieves' Wood. Thieves' Wood -=-=-=-=-=-=- Back in Thieves' Wood, go through the entirety of room two back into the front end of the forest. From the room one-room two entrance, head left along the dirt road, and when you get to the fork once more, continue onwards left, up 'til you hit the exit. Go through into a monster-free zone, and use the Althena Statue if you have to. Head up to the northwest exit where the rocks previously were, and head into the next room. In here, head along the road until you come to a spot just before you head into a large expanse of dirt with a log. Here, head right and go through the trees, and at the end, head up the slope onto the cliff. Open the chest to the northwest for 100S, then head back onto the road. To find the exit, go back onto the dirt road and continue left, choosing either side of the fork, and when the paths reconnect, head northwest to the exit. However, kill all the monsters in this area first, and open up the Blue Chest that was lying next to the road about 1/4 in for a Lucky Bandana. Afterwards, exit out onto the world map, and go to Delrich Temple. Delrich Temple -=-=-=-=-=-=-= Start off by healing up at the Althena Statue, then go up the three long sets of staircases to the top. Examine the Dragon statues, and they'll give you hints as to what order of colors you need to look at, which will come in use later. For those who don't really want to bother solving it, the correct order would be Red - White - Black - Blue. Enter. Inside, go east and down the three sets of staircases, and then head east some more until you come to an exit. Continue on to reach the monster-infested areas. In here, head down the staircase, and then walk southeast down the hallway until you get to the end, and then head up the second staircase. Go in a general right direction, and keep reference of the patch of area right above you as where the Blue Chest will be. Go down the staircase, then head down-left, and take the left path when you come to a split between left and right down a staircase. Open the chest at the end for a HEALING GUM and then continue on down the stairs. Go up along the hallway until you come to a staircase, and then go up to find the exit. Should you slay all the enemies in the room and open the Blue Chest, you'll obtain a MENTAL BANDANA. Now exit out this room into the next. Keep reference of the door straight to the northeast when you come in, but don't go in. Instead, head down through the doorframe southeast, and then head down southwest along the hallway. Go into the door with the red stone above it, and inside, go down and examine the Red Dragon Statue. Head back out, go up a bit, then go inside the white stone door. Here, go along and examine the White Dragon Statue. Now exit, and head up the hallway to the northeast end. Go inside this door, walk to the end, and examine the Black Dragon Statue. Exit. Back out here, go down southwest, and you should see some staircases. Head down them, and then run up northeast once more to find another door. Go inside, and open the chest for a MAGIC RING. Use the Althena Statue if you have to, then go southeast along the hallway in here. Examine the Blue Dragon Statue, and it'll set off a mechanism elsewhere. Exit the closest door. Now, even if you want to fight monsters, I must note, there IS NO BLUE CHEST HERE. If you do not wish to bother fighting anymore, head down in a southwest direction to the opposite end into a new room. Now that you're here, go around and go right up the staircase. Step into the portal, and it'll teleport you into a new room. Once again, there's no blue chest, so if you don't want to, don't fight. Save first, and then take the northeast end. Examine the grave to slide it over, and then head through the door. Inside, fight the Sasquatch, which is basically an upgrade on the Yeti, and his two Yeti accomplices. -=-=-=-=- SASQUATCH =-=-=-=-= Prize(s): Healing Drop, Sasquatch At this point in the game, you won't really have anything at all to diversify your attack pool, so just put the combat on automatic, and cancel auto mode whenever you need Lucia to heal. Eventually, all three enemies will fall. -=-=-=-=- END FIGHT =-=-=-=-= Exit the room and head down to the southwest end. Check the two unbroken graves and they'll slide away, revealing two BONE SWORDs. Head through the door, and you'll face off against another Sasquatch, this time with two Shreekers. One victory later, head back outside and go to the center of the room. If you ever need to, go back to the Althena Statue to revitalize your HP and MP, but otherwise, go to the northwest end next. No graves are moveable here, so go through the door straight away, and fight the Sasquatch, whom is this time accompanied by a Sturge and Blob. COLLECTORS: No doubt you've realized what to do by now. But if you're one of those people who needs to collect everything, be warned: once you fight the Sasquatches here, if you don't get the Sasquatch card off of one of them, you will NEVER find it. So, when you go southeast and just before you head through that door, if you don't have the Sasquatch Card yet, save. In any case, the Sasquatch will be accompanied by two Ticks this time. Afterwards, however, there'll be a severe lack of the Package. Backtrack your way to the room that had the four Dragon Statue doors, and go to the entrance of that room. Head through the door that was seemingly useless before, and in here, go up onto the pedestal to retrieve the package. Now that that's done, leave by use of Lucia's Escape Magic, and exit Delrich Temple. Backtrack to Perit Village. Perit Village -=-=-=-=-=-=- Back at the ranch, head off to Enos' House, go to the second floor, and talk to Enos once more. He'll thank you for your help, mention that the bridge to the town of Healriz has been fixed, and gives you 100S. Afterwards, exit Enos' House, and go over to the local Gad's Express. Talk to the person at the counter to finish the job that we've been trying to do for the last chapter, then do whatever you want to do around town and Port Searis (delivering packages, leveling up, getting new equipment, etc.) before heading off to our next storyline destination. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1b. To Healriz TOHRZ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Thieves' Wood -=-=-=-=-=-=- Go to the monster-free zone with the Statue of Althena, and the bridge will have been fixed. Head along the bridge into the next area. In this room, go along the dirt road until you're heading mainly straight down and you're in a large expanse of dirt, and go left, weaving in between the trees. Continue on left and up to note the location of the Blue Chest that is here, then head back and go down and pursue the left side at the fork. When you come to a bridge, don't go just yet; instead, go down to the southeast across a log onto a small island, and open the chest for a HEALING GUM. Head back across the log and go across the bridge. Here, you'll find the exit. Now, if you want to, slay all the enemies in here in Virtue Mode and claim a STRONG UMBRELLA from the Blue Chest before leaving, but otherwise, exit the room and the area altogether onto the world map. Enter Healriz from there. Healriz -=-=-=- Start off by going to Titus' house and talking to Titus inside. Once you are finished your small chitchat, swing over to Balbo's House, and go talk to Evelina on the second floor. After that, exit the house and head over to Leoncavallo's house. Talk to both Leoncavallo and Marcella, then exit. Head over to the Western side of town, then go to San Coliseum. In here, talk to Luria at the front counter, then exit and head to the restaurant. Talk to Lucrezia, the blue-haired girl at the left, and then exit. Go to the Inn. Talk to the Innkeeper, and then talk to the human to the right, Aaron. Once he's done, exit, and head back to the Eastern side of town. Here, go into Leoncavallo's house and talk to Marcella, and she will tell you that you'll need some Honey from Roland Forest (I wouldn't mind the catfight, but, oh well). With that in mind, go to Victoria Square to use the Althena statue, then head back to the western side of town. Exit Healriz from there onto the overworld, and then head into Roland Forest. Roland Forest -=-=-=-=-=-=- Because we have to come back here soon anyways and go through the forest, with no fighting in between, there's no point in journeying your way through the entire forest now. If you must, read ahead to the next Roland Forest blip. Otherwise, however, switch into Combat Mode until you finally encounter an Insector, and after you win, you'll more than likely obtain Honey (one is satisfactory) (you might get a Poisoner instead, but the Poisoner is it's rare drop). It might also be fair warning at this point in time to mention that some of the enemies may be tough, depending on your current level and equipment. After, exit back out and head off to Healriz once more. Healriz -=-=-=- Head off to Leoncavallo's House, and talk to the master of the house once more. When he asks for the honey, give it to him. Talk to him again once you are done, and after a long and drawn-out conversation, you have your next destination set. Head outside, use the Althena Statue at Victoria Square should you need it, and head to Roland Forest from the West side of Healriz. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1c. Fighting in the Coliseum FGNCL =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Roland Forest -=-=-=-=-=-=- No worries for the main part of Roland Forest, as there isn't a Blue Chest in the first part of the area. Start off by making your way down south, using the pale green grass as a mark for the path, until you get to a large slope. Go down here, and at the bottom, stay within the green and continue on left. There'll eventually be a break in the pale green grass, but you should see a dirt path up ahead to the northwest; take it and follow it northwest until you come to two rocks surrounded by some trees. From this landmark, head up straight north, and then go across the log. Head across the second log up a bit, and then enter the cave. Inside the cave, head up the northwest until you come to a split in the path; take the northeast direction going up, and go through what is a fairly linear and eventless walk until you come to the end, and open the chest for a HEALING GUM. Make your way back to the split in the road, and this time go down southwest. You should soon come to a second split in the road. For reference, the southwest path will lead to the Blue Chest, but ignore that for now; instead, head on and go up the northeast path. You'll finally come to one last split; this time, take the left path (the right path leads to a useless dead end). Travel up a sufficient enough way, and finally, you shall fae off against the Armored Boar. -=-=-=-=-=-= ARMORED BOAR =-=-=-=-=-=- Prize(s): Counter Type 1, Armored Boar Currently, you won't have an armada of cards that can prove completely useful to you. Nevertheless, you should have one that will be useful; the Insector card. Have Lucia use it while Jian flat-out attacks and does nothing else, while keeping Lucia to the side as a healer; even if you don't think it's an emergency, you should still heal. This is because the Armored Boar can cause confusion to you, and doing so will cause your character to randomly not do an attack; perfect timing for the Boar to sneak in a critical hit or something along those lines. -=-=-=-=- END FIGHT =-=-=-=-= Before you leave the cave and Roland Forest as a whole, if you want, kill all the monsters in the cave and open the chest for a PROTECTION RING. Once done, use Lucia's Escape Magic and leave Roland Forest from there. Head back to Healriz. Healriz -=-=-=- Head off to Leoncavallo's house, and talk to Leoncavallo. After your conversation, you'll get a PASS. Before heading off to San Coliseum, go to the Item Shop and pick up a few Antidotes, and a lot of Healing Drops. You'll need them for when you go to San Coliseum. After the fact, talk to Luria at the front table, and enter. Some chatting later, you'll get into your first fight. -=-= RAFT =-=- Prize(s): Healing Drop x2, Raft Your first of three fights should be a rather reasonably easy fight. Besides his regular attack, the only other thing that Raft is capable of is casting a light healing spell on himself, which, if you have your best possible current equipment on right now, only heals half the damage that you inflict on him in a trio of hits. As such, you'll probably want to keep things going easy here and put the Combat on Automatic, but keep an eye on your HP; if it gets below 40, cancel Automatic mode and use a Healing Drop on yourself. -=-=-=-=- END FIGHT =-=-=-=-= Talk, another boss fight. -=-=-= SHARIF =-=-=- Prize(s): Healing Drop x2, Sharif Coming into this fight, use the Namia card to keep your HP up; if you're at a fairly decent level (10 or so) and with good equipment, you can basically nullify any damage Sharif does to you. Not only that, but because of a low accuracy rate he holds, you may even get more bang for your buck than what you might initially expect. With that said, Sharif DOES have a secondary attack in the form of a fireball that he uses from time to time, but other than it being slightly more powerful than his regular attack, there isn't really anything else to mention in fighting him. -=-=-=-=- END FIGHT =-=-=-=-= More talk, and you'll face off the last boss. -=-=- MORAN =-=-= Prize(s): Mental Drop x2, Moran This is the real fight to be here for. If you're not at a low point in HP from the last fight (in which case if you are, use a Healing Drop ASAP), then use a Namia-Insector card combo, and flat-out attack Moran. Once this is done, end the fight QUICKLY! Moran has a deadly two-prong attack in the form of his tail swipe being able to both poison. While the poison can easily be quickly offset by the Namia card constantly healing you, it's the equipment you don't want to get broken; therefore, the quicker you kill Moran, the lesser of a chance it'll have to destroy your equipment. Besides, after this fight, you'll be able to heal up, so there's no point in healing yourself after the initial part if you can hang in there for a few more turns. -=-=-=-=- END FIGHT =-=-=-=-= Afterwards, you'll have a long conversation, after which you'll get a new party member, Gabryel. For a while now, Jian will also be unable to perform his triple-attack; he can only kick once per attack from now on until a point later on in the future. Once done, head off to Port Searis through Thieves' Wood. Port Searis -=-=-=-=-=- Back here, head off to the Pier. Go and talk to Hyman, and take the ferry to Shell Pier, in Port Olbeage. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1d. The Cathedral of Althena CTOAL =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Port Olbeage -=-=-=-=-=-= Your first stop after running into town from the Pier should be to head to Carducci's House. Talk to Carducci here, and fulfill his request by exiting and heading to the Checkpoint. Here, talk to the guard standing in the middle of the room, as well as to the two guards to the side, and then exit and return to Carducci's House. Talk to Carducci once more, and after a drawn-out scene, you'll be asked to go to the Cathedral of Althena, and you'll be able to exit the Port. Once out on the world map, go to the Cathedral of Althena, and in the Cathedral of Althena submap, go into the actual Cathedral. Cathedral of Althena -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Before I give out any directions, I am taking the 'fair-game' approach and believe that I should mention that once you finish this dungeon, that's it. The monsters here will not appear here anymore, so if you want to get anything from here soon, you better do it right now. Nevertheless, there are no exclusive items or monsters to Cathedral of Althena, so don't worry too much. In any case, from the get-go, go through the first room, which is free from monster infestation. Inside the main hallway, head forth along the floor, ignoring the first set of doors on either side of you. For the second set of doors, however, go down to the southeast. Inside here, go and open a chest in the far east corner to get an AMETHYST. Exit the room, then head to the room opposite from here. Inside is a Statue of Althena that you can (and will have to) use, and a chest with an AURA. Exit the room, go outside, and continue onwards up the stairs. Go and examine the statue. Once the statue's been gleaned over, head down southeast again, and go up the staircase at the end. Continue on in a straightforward southeast direction, but save before you enter the door. Once inside, you'll face off against a Deuce. -=-=- DEUCE =-=-= Prize(s): (Varies)___ Orb, Deuce, Mental Drop Any two of the useful quartret of cards for boss fights that you likely have by now (Duager, Insector, Namia, Shreeker) should be put down for use against all of the Deuces you'll fight, as depending on how good your current equipment is, you may need an advantage over him. Lucia's Grand Weapon and Grand Shell can also be useful for respectively hurting Deuce more and reducing the damage of his attacks. Aside from that, the Deuce can be an annoying little bugger. From time to time, he'll attack twice in a turn (two hits in one attack), and his attacks can both confuse and send you to sleep, both of which will delay your own attacks. As such, don't be afraid to use Lucia's Cure Squall and healing to nullify any status ailments and heal your when your HP gets low. -=-=-=-=- END FIGHT =-=-=-=-= After this first fight, you'll get a RED ORB for your troubles. Head downstairs if you still have sufficient HP and MP (otherwise, go to the Statue of Althena first and heal up), and you'll fight another Deuce. This time around, you'll obtain the WHITE ORB. Now that you're done here, exit out and go back to the main hall. This time, go to the door northwest of the statue (remembering to drop off at the Althena State first if you need to), heading up the stairs first. Inside, you'll take on another Deuce. Once done, you'll get a BLACK ORB. Head downstairs, and take on the last Deuce, winning a BLUE ORB in the process. Exit outside, and head to the large Statue of Althena in the main hall. Examine it four times to insert the four orbs, then go along the hallway, entering the door at the end. SAVE BEFORE ENTERING. Inside, you'll face off against Gronk. -=-=- GRONK =-=-= Prize(s): Counter Type 2, Gronk Aside from his somewhat hurtful regular attacks, Gronk has a more devastating attack if you fail to keep up with him; he can petrify your characters, keeping them from moving for awhile. As such, equip the Amethyst you got only just a while back onto Lucia to keep her from being petrified, and use her Cure Squall whenever the need arises. Gronk is also able to heal himself from time to time, but if he's poisoned, it won't work for him. With pre-battle preparations done, there are about five good cards to use in this battle; the obvious Namia-Insector-Shreeker trio (Shreeker will be especially useful this time around, as Gronk takes a lot to go down), and additionally, Comet and Enigma. Comet will raise your own Intelligence, allowing your Specials to have more power behind them (Lucia's healing attacks, or Gabryel's Gale Cut), while Enigma will drop Gronk's own Intelligence, cutting down the force behind his powers. And, eventually, you'll be able to prevail over him. -=-=-=-=- END FIGHT =-=-=-=-= After you've defeated Gronk, f'ing HEAL JIAN. Once you've done that, go up to the staircase, and then watch the scene. Zethos Castle -=-=-=-=-=-=- You'll end up fighting another boss, singlehandedly. -=-=-= ZETHOS =-=-=- Prize(s): Lucky Ring, Zethos Let's be clear; this battle can be won in a matter of turns, if you know what to do. Zethos isn't too hard of a fighter in this battle, and if you've healed up beforehand like I said for you to do, his attack (which consists of three axe thrusts in a row before backing off) will never do much harm to you (particularly as many of his attacks more than likely will partially or totally miss). The first step for you to take is to use the Shreeker card on Zethos, which will ensure that he loses sufficient enough HP per turn. Next, use an Insector card, and once that is done, start attacking Zethos. Zethos will soon use an attack that consists of a blue orb of energy. When this is done, the Curse of Lost Equilibrium will have been broken, and Jian will be able to attack thrice in a single turn, so continue pounding at Zethos, only stopping to heal if you absolutely must. -=-=-=-=- END FIGHT =-=-=-=-= After you've won, watch the scene, where lots of background information gets revealed. Once you're thrust out onto the castle town map, reenter Zethos Castle, and inside, go along the long hallway until you get to the throne room. Talk to Zethos once more, and he'll tell you to cross Sungrid Bridge. Exit again, head out to the Castle Town, and here, go to Pisano Square. Once reunited with Gabryel, exit this area altogether (unless you want to get some ____ Rings from Janus at his house). You can go back to Port Olbeage now by going through the Cathedral of Althena and exiting the other way, or you can now go to Sungrid Bridge. I recommend going to Olbeage first, as you will want to get lots of money for later on after crossing Sungrid Bridge, and with the Olbeage square's merchants, you can make money now. On another side note, don't be buying ANY equipment for now unless it's a Ring. Sungrid Bridge -=-=-=-=-=-=-= Head through the first mini-hallway, guaranteed to be monster-free, then exit out into the maelstrom that is Sungrid Bridge. Outside, your first step will be to walk down southwest and go up the ladder, then head in a southwesterly direction again once on the roof and go down a second ladder. You should see a door right at the base of the ladder; continue on southwest a wee bit, flip the lever in the middle of the room by examining it with A, then go back and enter the door. Inside, go and open the chest for a HOLY BRACELET, then head back outside. Back outside, head southwest in a fairly straightforward path, going down one staircase, until you make it offscreen to the next area. In here, head down and right to the one side of the building, and climb up another ladder. Head down-left and then scoot over to the right, going down one more ladder at the end. Walk along the upper part of this large section here, and you should see the Blue Chest. Reference it's location in mind for later, then procede down and right, climibing up another ladder to the top. Head around the first roof clockwise, and, ignoring the ladder going down that is to your right, head up the ladder to your left. Head along and start your way down one last ladder, and at the bottom lies the exit to the next screen. Defeat all the enemies in the area before heading on, and open the Blue Chest for a BARRIER RING, then leave onto the next area. From the start, head down southwest once more along the crossway, and continue through the square of four barrel-shaped pods and go down a staircase. Start curving in a northwest direction when you're prompted to, and head up another staircase. Up here, head up to the tower in the northern-most corner and climb the ladder to the top. Open the chest for a HEALING GUM, then head back down and southwest again. Down the staircase is the exit, BUT. Backtrack to the opening square of this area, and flip the lever in the southwest corner. Head forward to the tower with a high ladder again, and enter the newly opened door. Inside, open a lever. Back outside, backtrack once more to the last lever, and head down-right to the side, and head down the ladder. See the Blue Chest to your right for later use, then head left. Go into the door at the base of the bridge foundation here, and inside, open the chests for a RAINBOW TIARA and a GODDESS ROBE. Head outside. Now, kill all the monsters in the area in Virtue Mode, then open the Blue Chest for a HOLY UMBRELLA. Exit to the southwest portion of this room of Sungrid Bridge. Now, I'll make my point clear. DEEQUIP ALL OF LUCIA'S EQUIPMENT DOWN TO HER BASE EQUIPMENT. This means Umbrella, Shiny Tiara, Ring, etc. With that done, go down, right, down and left from the entrance, and watch a long scene. You'll end up in Lind Village afterwards, and obtain an IGNATIC STONE. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1e. Crossing the Frontier CRTFR =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Lind Village -=-=-=-=-=-= Before going into the shaft, head right and up and examine the Althena Statue to recover fully. Now go back and into the mine shaft. In here, go down- left the first tunnel, then head down-right all the way along the abandoned railway into the next room. In here, just simply head into the southwest door to exit out to the Lind Village overmap. Don't bother going to the General Store, as all you can do is sell items there. You may want to make a pit stop to the Item Store and pick up a bunch of Healing Gums and Healing Drops, as the only Statue of Althena for the next long stretch of the game is in the underground shaft you just came from. You will, however, DEFINITELY want to make the Weapon and Armor shops a stop on your way out (if you run out of money, sell Lucia's old equipment). Once outside, head back to Sungrid Bridge. Sungrid Bridge -=-=-=-=-=-=-= Although you won't be able to admittedly cross back over Sungrid Bridge, you can flip the lever that is at this end of the bridge now. It'll serve a purpose later, so don't worry. Exit out and go to Guystole Mine. Guystole Mine -=-=-=-=-=-=- Two notes to make before we head off: the first is that you may want to alternate between some fighting at the Guystole Mine and heading back to the Althena Statue back in Lind Village to level up Flora a bit. The second is a more personal note; bring up a consultation between the three once you get in, and they'll have what is personally one of my most favorite conversations in the game. Anywho, walk straight down from the start, and ignore the path going up to the left - it's completely useless. Instead, continue on, and when you hit the pit at the end and a fork, go down to the right. Head down-left immediately when you can and do a counterclockwise loop of this area, killing any monsters around. Once you're about done your rotation, go down the stairs at the top and open the chest in the middle for a TOPAZ, then head back out. Go back to the fork, and go left along the small bridge plank. Ignore your first stop while walking in a counterlockwise direction, and instead head to the end to see the exit to this chamber. However, if you want, kill all the monsters in this room and go to the northern corner of this bridge to find a Blue Chest. Inside should be a PANTHER GAUNTLET. With that, head back onto the plank, go down once more, and exit out to the next room. In here, go up and head right at the fork. Take note of the Blue Chest here for later, then head back and start heading left down the stone staircase. Head down to the far right and at the end, go up the staircase. Open the chest for a HEALING DROP, then go back down and down another staircase to the bottom section. Head up the two staircases opposite the first lowest staircase. Now scale around counterclockwise and head down-left into a new area. Here, go down and then head right across the bridge. On the other side, head right, and go across another bridge. Continue on right, and you'll come to another split. Head right and down to find the exit. However, before going through, if you want, clear out all the enemies in the area and open the Blue Chest at the beginning of this room for a GUARDIAN RING. After that, head out into the next room. Coming in, go up north along the hallway, and once you make it out into big open space, head up the first staircases you see, then head left up another staircase for a TOURMALINE. Head back down the two staircases, then start going right and up along a new path. Curve around clockwise until you come to another fork in the roads. Head north from here to open a chest for 10000S, then head south past the three-way split. Ignore the bridge that you'll see, and instead continue down until you see a plateau with the Blue Chest on it. From here, pursue the right-down direction, then head straight down from there. You will find the exit here. Now, should you want, before exiting the Guystole Mine, kill all the enemies in this room and open the Blue Chest for a PLATINUM WRISTBAND. After that, exit, and head out to Sandra Desert. Sandra Desert -=-=-=-=-=-=- The first area of the desert is fairly straightforward. From your entrance, head straight right until you see some stairs carved out in the sand cliffs below you, and then go and head down them. Below, you'll see that there's a naturally ingrained path on the desert floor. By following this path, you move much faster than the very slow pace that you would be accomodated to on the sand. Take this path in a counterclockwise loop, making note of the Blue Chest that you will see, and at the end of it all will be the exit to the next room. Should you decide to do so, kill all the monsters in this room and open the Blue Chest for an ANGEL'S TEARS. From the start of the next room, head down along the fine path until you get to sandy terrain, then head in a general south (slightly west) direction until you find some staircases. Head up and go around the cliff to find a chest with a MENTAL GUM inside. Drop off by going onto the sand waterfall, then head slightly down and then go right, keeping your eyes on the cliffs. You should see another chest partly obscured by the cliffs. Open it for a HEALING DROP, then head left in an almost completely straightforward direction until you come to one exit. Go in. In here, it's a relatively small room with no blue chest, but because it isn't monster free, it will have a higher monster density. With that warning out of the way, head far left and open the chest for 5963S, then head back right and exit back out into the previous room. In here, go right until you find the chest partly hidden by the cliffs, then continue straight right and then in a down- right direction when you have to. Alternatively, if you want to, kill all the enemies in the room and head north and a slight bit right from the hidden chest to find the Blue Chest. It'll contain a DARK BOOTS. Coming in, head straight right and then go up a staircase when you see it. Start heading back left on the upper floor, going up another staircase, and then taking an exit that goes back to the previous room. In here, head left along the cliff face, ignoring any sand waterfalls, and continue on up and left until you come to an exit back to the first room. Use it, and procede north. Head around the sand waterfall to open a chest for a STARDUST RING, then head back all the way to Room 4. Repeat this same step again, but only go back one room; head down the sand waterfall, open the chest below for a PROTECTIVE BANDANA, head down another sand waterfall, then head back to Room 4. Now that our side quest of item-collecting is done, down to business. Head right to the staircase, and then make a sharp turn south to find a chest that will hold a HEALING DROP. Now go back north a bit, then head right a long ways until you finally come to an exit. Go inside to the next room, and watch a scene. After, you'll be spit out onto the world map. Head to Elda Canyon. Elda Canyon -=-=-=-=-=- You will probably prefer to skip any treasure-hunting and fighting for the first bit when you first enter Elda Canyon, and head directly to the boss fight in the second room, THEN come back here. Believe me, it'll make your life exponentially easier. And for a reference, the geysers in Elda Canyon will temporarily make you confused, so that pressing up makes you go down, left will make you go right, and vice versa. It'll wear off after a while. In any case, head down-right and then go up to find a rock ladder in the stone wall. Continue right, go up the staircase, take a note of the Blue Chest, then head down until you come to another staircase. From here, head right along the cliff face some more, and when you get to a bigger area, head north and open the chest for a MENTAL GUM. From the chest, go down a bit and down a staircase. From here, it's a crossroads. For reference, all you have to do to go to the EXIT now is to go down and down-right. Take the down-left direction, however, then go up-left 'til you see a ladder carved into the stone wall that you're walking on. Climb down, then head left, and go down another ladder. Head right down here, and climb down once more. On the ground, tread left along the safe rock path, then maneuver around the rock in the way to a chest. Open it for a BRAVERY HELMET. If you want, go and kill all the enemies in this room and open the chest for a BRAVERY ARMOR, but otherwise go to the exit to the next roo,. In this SECOND room, head down to the right along a long path with some more geyster steams, and start watching the scene. Eventually, you'll have a boss fight. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= CAUCUS, ORCUS, MORUS =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Prize(s): Caucus, Orcus, Morus, Counter Type 3 Your first step will be to use a Namia-Shreeker-Insector trio to greatly shift the battle in favor towards you. Furthermore, if you have a Termite card, use it, as Orcus can break your equipment (remember, he's a beefed-up version of a Duager). Lastly, you may also want to make sure you have a Vitra on hand, as without a healer, Vitra is your only way to heal everyone at once. Besides that, however, if you can get the Namia-Shreeker-Insector combo out, then the fight is pretty much over in your trio. Jian should attack as normal, and take the opportunity to sic the combined powers of Gabryel's Gale Cut and Rufus' Thunder Sword Specials, as they can usually take anywhere from 1/10ths to 1/5ths of the enemy trio's total HP. That, combined with some patience and the slow effects of poison, will make sure that they fall in no time. The only other noteworthy things are that Orcus can and will hit you twice in an attack much like Jian with his tri-attack (although he still at times only hits once), and Caucus can heal his alllies - unfortunately, the latter is positioned in the sky at the beginning of the battle, so it may take a while before you can unseat him. Furthermore, Morus can also steal items, as well as stealing two items in the same move. -=-=-=-=- END FIGHT =-=-=-=-= After the battle, turn around from where you're displaced, and head north. You should find a stone ladder in the wall. Climb it up, and then go right and down the staircase to find a chest. Open it up for a PRAYER WATER, then head back to the staircase you were put at after beating the trio. Now go left along the path, avoiding the poison swamp, and climb up the ladder carved in the wall. Up top, open the chest for a HEALING DROP, then go back down. Continue left to exit into the next room. In here, pursue the left direction until you come to a poison swamp. Across the swamp is a ladder that leads up to the Blue Chest for later (contains a CRYSTAL GUARD), but ignore that for now. Instead, head right and go up the staircase, then continue right until you come to another staircase, and go down. Climb down the ladder to your left, and then run up-left across the poison swamp to a chest with a RESISTANCE RING in it on safe ground. Run back, climb up the ladder, then head straight down until there's a small branch of land extending out into the poison swamp to the right. Take this branch of land and follow it until you see some more safe land to the northeast. Run across the swamp, climb up the ladder at the other end, then head left to go up another ladder. Open the chest for a CRYSTAL SWORD. Head back to the mainland now, and go down and right until you come to two ladders, one next to the other. Take the right ladder, take another right ladder, and then one more right ladder before coming to a chest. Inside should be a HEALING GUM. Now go back down to the bottom, then head up the left ladder, then the right, then the left again, then continue on north-left 'til you come to a staircase. Head up, and then continue on to the exit and outside of Elda Canyon. Head out from there to Vile Castle. Vile Castle -=-=-=-=-=- Head in, and go straight up north-west along the hallway to the end, and you'll find a staircase. Clear out all the enemies in the room before you go, however, maneuvering around the open spaces in the floor tiles. Open the Blue Chest in the southern corner now to get a DEMON RING. Now go to about the center of the room, and head through up northeast a bit through the tiles in the floor. Go around to the left, and you should find a chest with a RESIST RING. Now go back out, and head west along the hallway up the staircase. On the next floor, you'll see that it's pretty linear. Head northeast up the hallway to another set of stairs. Repeat this for another room, and on the fourth floor, head about halfway, then make a twist and go left instead into the next room. In here, you'll have a cutscene. Once it's done, head along the long hallway to the next room. In here, head down and left of the staircase to open a chest for a MENTAL DROP, then go up and left of the staircase for a HEALING DROP. Now go up the staircase, and watch another cutscene. This battle cannot be won. After the scenes that follow, you'll be put back in Port Searis. Port Searis -=-=-=-=-=- From the Inn, head off to Gad's Express, and talk to Gad. Besides all the post-expressionism, you'll also get the Bell Shoes. After the fact, you shall also receive a new destination; to Zethos Castle, to talk to King Zethos about what to do next. Before you do that, however, go to the second floor of the inn in Port Searis and go into Room 202. Talk to Timothy, and he will give you the JUMP SHOES. Afterwards, make your way to Port Olbeage, and then the rest of the way to Zethos Castle. Zethos Castle -=-=-=-=-=-=- Head off to the throne room once you make it, and go and talk to King Zethos himself. After some plot background is revealed, you'll be sent off to talk to Titus in Healriz, so pack your bags and move out to Healriz by way of the Thieves' Woods once more. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1f. The Red Dragon REDDR =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Healriz -=-=-=- Back in here, go to Titus' House, and talk to Titus himself. You'll learn a lot more story information, and afterwards, you'll be sent off to the Red Dragon Cave; to get there, you'll need to go by way of Roland Forest. At the same time, Flora will also join up with you again to bring your party back up to three members. Before going there, however, you have two stops to make in Healriz. The first is at the Inn (1st Floor). Talk to Aaron in here, and he'll tell you about the hazards of the Red Dragon Cave and the Insulation Crust. After that stop, go to the Item Shop as well; because there isn't a Statue of Althena after Roland Forest, you'll want a lot of healing items and Angel's Tears. Afterwards, exit out from West Healriz and go to Roland Forest. Roland Forest -=-=-=-=-=-=- From the start, go along the regular path that you took a while back to get to the Roland Cave, but stop once you begin to head north. Instead, go south from here along a second path, and you should wander another path. Take it and go down into the next area. In here, go down and examine the grave-like object next to the lake. It'll open up a bridge across the body of water, so run down to the other end, use the Statue of Althena if needed, then head out to the next section of Roland Forest. Coming in, head straight south until you're blocked by foliage that acts as the background. From here, continue southwest and west until you see a ramp going up onto a cliff. Take it, then do a clockwise loop until you get to the |
