CFlames55117 Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to this FAQ for Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. As a huge fan of
Super Mario RPG on the SNES, I quickly fell in love with the similar style,
humor, and quirkyness this title brings to the table. Honestly, this is
probably my favorite game on the DS for the time being. Enough of this, let's
get on with the guide!
Kratos_42
Having already written a Bros. Items FAQ for this game, I was considering
writing a FAQ/Walkthrough for it. Having just completed another FAQ and with
little idea of what to FAQ for next, but a vague plan to FAQ for this, having
CFlame55117 co-author request topic pop up on the FAQ Contributers General
board was akin to an answer to prayer. He's really done most of the work here,
I took the walkthrough up from Gritzy Cave, did some of the enemies, the boss
section, badges, and added to the Bros. Items FAQ using my previous one. Have
fun reading!
Oh, and thanks goes to osrevad for the wonderful ASCII title, from both of us.
Story [00023]
===============================================================================
*NOTE* Taken from the Game Manual.
One blissful day in the Mushroom Kingdom, genius inventor Professor E. Gadd
constructed a time machine, which was fueled by the awesome power of the Cobalt
Star. Princess Peach was overjoyed with his creation, and immediately set off
to visit the Mushroom Kingdom's past. Of course, her faithful ward Toadsworth
was filled with such a worry for his charge that he promptly collapsed.
Shortly thereafter the time machine returned, but it was a wreck and it brought
back not the princess, but a creepy alien of unknown origin. According to the
professor, Princess Peach was stranded somewhere in the past! To top if off,
mysterious time holes leading back in time began popping up throughout the
castle! Who better to answer the call to adventure than Mario and Luigi?
Nobody, that's who!
The mustachioed brothers lept into action, plunged through a time hole, and set
off on a rescue mission through time. Once they arrived in the past, the
brothers met up with their childhood selves and formed the greatest team of
heroes in history. Can the brothers Mario overcome all obstacles and rescue
Princess Peach? Only time will tell!
===============================================================================
Characters [00033]
===============================================================================
Mario
-----
This game wouldn't be what it is without everyone's favorite red plumber. And
of course, when the Princess is kidnapped, Mario can't help but to make an
adventure of it. With his trusty "stache" to lead the way, there's nothing
that can stop him.
Luigi
-----
Mario's scared little brother. His clumsyness and kindness makes him an
invaluable (and humorous) part of the squad.
Baby Mario and Luigi
--------------------
The little forms of the super plumbers. They may not have the power of their
adult forms, but they still have the passion like them.
Princess Peach
--------------
Ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. She's kidnapped by the invading Shroobs after
using Professor Gadd's time machine.
Baby Bowser
-----------
The young form of the mighty Koopa King. Of course, this wouldn't be a Mario
game without this youngster bugging you during your adventure.
Professor E. Gadd
-----------------
Developer of the time machine, which sent Princess Peach to the past. He
assists you by allowing you to go from past to present whenever you want.
Toadsworth
----------
This worrysome little toad is always on the lookout for his little Peach, never
letting her out of his sight.
Stuffwell
---------
Your traveling briefcase, giving you hints and storing your equipment for your
adventure.
===============================================================================
Battling [00043]
===============================================================================
The battle system used in M&L: PiT is a very simple concept. Each of the four
characters are designated to one of the four buttons.
Mario - A
Luigi - B
Baby Mario - X
Baby Luigi - Y
Now, when it's that characters turn to attack, you'll press their button.
You'll start off the battle by selecting a Command Box. You can choose from:
Jump: Regular jump on a single enemy.
Hammer: Smack an enemy with a hammer attack.
Bros. Item: Use a Bros. Item to inflict damage on an enemy.
Item: Use an item on a character.
Run: Flee from battle.
Now, when you attack, you can press the character's designated button at the
right time to score a Critical.
Bros. Items can be used on enemies for a little more damage. Some effect all
enemies, while others effect only one. Read the Bros. Items section to see how
to use them.
Your characters can also fight while on Piggyback. When using a jump, press
the baby's button before hitting, then the adult's when he comes down to score
twice the damage!. Now, for the hammer, you'll need to hit the adult's button
first when the hammer shakes, then the baby's when the hammer shakes a second
time. Also, while on Piggyback, if the adult dies, the baby will drag him off
the battlefield and stand alone.
Status effects may be put on your characters depending on attacks from the
enemy. They may be cured with certain items.
Dizzy - Too disoriented to move.
Poison - Take damage every turn.
Burn - Take damage every turn and cannot move.
POW Down - Decrease in Strength.
DEF Down - Decrease in Defense.
Now, you can also dodge and counterattack the enemy. When the enemy performs
his move, he gives you a hint as to what character he'll attack (whether it be
a foot movement or a specific height), so you can prepare early. So, while
dodging, if you happen to time it right, you can land on/hammer them for
damage. Now you know the basics of battling.
===============================================================================
Abilities [00053]
===============================================================================
Baby Cakes
----------
Learned by: Babies
When the adults use the ball ability on the babies, they flatten
and can fit into very small passages.
Ball
----
Learned by: Adults
Using this, the duo turns into a human ball, allowing you to scale
hills with ease.
Baby Spin
---------
Learned by: Babies
Using the adult's Spin Jump, then have the babies jump to sent them
even higher to reach really high ledges.
Drill
-----
Learned by: Babies
Allows you to drill into the ground to manuever under gates and
digging up beans.
Hammer
------
Learned by: Babies
Allows you to smash crates and hit buttons on walls to open doors.
Spin Jump
---------
Learned by: Adults
Let's you jump higher to reach normally unreachable ledges.
===============================================================================
Tips [00063]
===============================================================================
- Coins are the currency used in Mario and Luigi. You can find these in blocks
or by winning battles. Coins are used to buy items and equipment in the
various shops scattered throughout the game.
- Jumping on an enemy will allow you to damage them before anyone gets a turn.
Combined with good character speed, you can have two hits in before they
get the chance to attack.
- Defeat any enemy you see. The more experience you get, the easier the rest
of the game can be.
- Save often, because if you die, its back to the last save you made.
- Make frequent stops at the Item/Equipment Shops if you're running low on
healing items.
Walkthrough [00004]
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
===============================================================================
Peach's Castle (Past) [00014]
===============================================================================
During the opening scene, you'll learn the history of the evil Shroobs and
their future plans of taking over Peach's Castle. Afterwards, Baby Mario and
Baby Luigi will be speaking with Toadsworth, Baby Peach's caretaker. He asks
you to go and play with the young princess, so go into the northern room to
find that Baby Bowser has her. You'll now fight your first battle. Don't
worry, as Toadsworth recovers and teaches you how to fight effectively and
dodge attacks. After the battle, the Shroobs start to bomb the castle, then
you'll be sent to the present.
==============================================================================
Peach's Castle (Present) [00024]
==============================================================================
During the short scene, you'll learn that Professor E. Gadd developed a time
machine run by the Cobalt Star. Princess, being the nut that she is, hopped in
and traveled to the past. After Toadsworth faints over the missing Princess,
you are asked to find a Refreshroom for the poor old toad. Using the top map,
you'll see the Refreshroom lies in the bottom left corner, in Toadsworth's
Quarters. Once you gain control, head south to the next room. Here, you'll
find a block with a heart. By hitting this, you'll restore all HP of your
current party. Be sure to use this when needed. The other thing you'll notice
is a floating book with a shiny "S" on the cover. This is a save point. Just
jump and hit it to save your game. Got it? Good. Now, use the map at the top
to manuever your way through the castle to the Refreshroom. Grab it and take
it back to Toadsworth to cure him.
After Toadswoth is cured and a joyous "Huzzah!", Professor Gadd's time machine
falls into the room, broken. Instead of finding the princess, the group finds
an ugly slime. No worries, Mario can take him. Again, Toadsworth is there to
help, so any questions, he can answer. After disposing of the Slime, Mario
will gain a level. Professor Gadd explains that Princess is likely to be in
the past, but with the time machine broken, there's no use...except the time
portal that happens to be convenietly placed in the south garden. Head south
to the garden and you'll both eventually land in the time warp and be sent to
the past.
===============================================================================
Hollijolli Village [00034]
===============================================================================
Once you land, and for Luigi, that's not pleasant, you'll meet Stuffwell, the
adorable little briefcase that holds your Items, Equipment and other
belongings. Press start to open him and listen to his small tutorial. After
closing Stuffwell, the time warp disappears and Luigi throws quite a humerous
tantram. Anyway, use the save point and head to the next screen.
Head forward, and Stuffwell will teach you about jumping. Jump to the top,
then jump onto the left ledge for two Mushrooms. Then next block over contains
coins while the third contains a 1-up Mushroom. Keep going right, along the
top, and Stuffwell will teach you about gap jumping. Jump across the gaps here
to reach an area with different colored blocks. The red ones with an "M" are
blocks only Mario can hit and the green ones with "L" are the blocks only Luigi
can hit. Hit all the blocks to collect five coins. Climb the newly formed
staircase.
A toad comes flying and hits Luigi square in the noggin, while more spaceships
fly overhead toward the town of Hollijolli. After the scene concludes, ascend
the two ladders and Stuffwell will tell you to jump on the enemy. This gives
you a premptive strike on you foe. Keep following the path, defeating the
little Shrooblets as you go. Eventually, Luigi will be conked in the head with
a flying Shrooblet, and Stuffwell will give you a tutorial on item use. Like
before, keep following the path and cross the bridge to enter Hollijolli
Village.
After the scene, enter the first house. Here you'll find three Mushrooms and a
coin. Follow the path east, then southwest to find another house. In here,
you'll find thirty coins. Take the north path and enter the house containing a
save point. Save your game and continue on. Exit the house, and in the little
alcove to the north is a Luigi block containing ten coins. Now, go to the east
and enter the next house. Mario and Luigi will hear a voice, so head forward
to find someone stuck in the chimney, which happens to be the mayor. Have
Mario jump to send him flying out of the chimney to the ground outside. And in
no time, he's surrounded by the Shroobs. You'll be prompted to battle, even
though you can't win. After the battle, you'll be on the Koopa Cruiser with
the babies.
===============================================================================
Koopa Cruiser [00044]
===============================================================================
After the cute, yet annoying scene, you'll be free to explore the Cruiser.
Speak with the Koopa to learn the controls of the babies. Jump over the first
barrier and hit the block for a Mushroom. You'll also collect a coin before
you come to the other side. Jump the gaps in the next set and hit the
character specific blocks for a Mushroom Drop, a Mushroom, 10 coins, and a 1-up
Mushroom. Exit to the next hall.
Jump on the ledge and hit the block for a coin. Now, clear the next section of
crates and save your game at the album. Head up the stairs and into the
cockpit. After Baby Bowser blasts the flying saucers, he decides to destroy
the Shroobs that attacked the adults. He drops you two babies off in the
northwest corner of Hollijolli Village. Follow the path to meet up with your
fellow future selves. During the battle, Toadsworth will give you your first
Bros. Item, the Green Shell. To see an explanation on how they work, see the
Bros. Items section.
After the battle and some scenes of how the babies ended up on the Koopa
Cruiser, all four brothers will be united on the Cruiser. After Princess
Shroob makes her appearance, she gives you a warm welcoming with a missle to
the Koopa Cruiser, which leads to a crash landing at Bowser's Castle.
===============================================================================
Bowser's Castle [00054]
===============================================================================
After the brief conversation with Stuffwell, guide your team to the nearby save
point for a quick rest. In the next screen, hit the two blocks for 2 Mushrooms
and 8 Green Shells. Head south and defeat the Goomba. Hit the Mario Block for
a 1-up Mushroom. Defeat the Goomba at the beginning and continue on the path.
Hit the "?" block for 4 Green Shells and defeat another Goomba. Enter the next
room. First off, defeat the four Goombas running around the ground level.
When they're gone, hit the two blocks in the center for 2 Mushrooms and 20
Coins. Now, use the stairs to the northwest and carefully walk along the thin
walkway to the other side and enter the doorway.
Jump down onto the red platform, and the duo will spot the babies hanging on
from atop. After their safely down, continue on the path, but the babies cry
to death by being left behind. This is where Stuffwell finally mentions the
use of Piggyback. Head up the steps to find a switch with four panels on it.
These four panels mean that you need all four members of your party to stand on
this to open the door. Do so and enter the doorway.
To the right is a ledge that even the great Mario cannot jump to. Now, you
have to get close to the ledge and press X to launch the babies to the ledge.
Don't worry, we'll get the adults soon enough. Move forward a bit and hit the
Pipe Block and the adults will join up with you. How convenient! Step on the
nearby panel and open the door.
Here, you'll find a small hole in the grey wall. Use the babies to enter and
get the 1-up Mushroom and 20 coins. Return to the adults and hit all six
blocks on the ledges for a coin, a Green Shell, 10 coins, a Mushroom Drop, 2
Mushrooms, and another coin. When you're done, step on the panel and head to
the next room.
Launch the babies up to the high ledge and hit the Pipe Block in the southwest
corner. Utilize the save point here before moving on. Launch the babies to
the tall ledge and hit the "!" block to lower the same platform. Jump to the
top, then onto the panel to open the door.
In here, a Magikoopa will send a Goomba to fight you. This is where Stuffwell
will teach you the concept of Piggyback Battling. After defeating all the
minions the Magikoopa throws out, its time to move on. Hop up the platforms
and across the bridge. Hit the block for a Green Shell. You can defeat the
Boos along the path for some extra experience. Keep doing so until you reach
the next screen. Here, take the four-panel pipe elevator to the next area.
Save your game and take the path north to the next screen. Hit the nearby
block for 2 Green Shells, then launch the babies onto the ledge at the top.
Hit the "!" block to complete the bridge. Meet up with your adult partners and
cross the newly formed bridge. Stand on the panel to open the door.
Again, launch the babies onto the ledge and hit another "!" block to complete
the bridge. Have the adults cross the bridge and Stuffwell will teach you
about a new kind of block. After raising a new ledge, have Baby Mario hit the
block for a 1-up Mushroom. Don't jump on the ledges yet, but instead, stick to
the ground floor and defeat the Goombas. Hit the "?" block for 20 Coins, then
jump the ledges to the top. Hit the consecutive blocks to lower a platform
below. As the adults, move forward and defeat the Boo and Boom Guy to find 20
coins in a "?" block at the end. Now, you can ascend the tall platforms to the
top. Now, have the babies hit the consecutive blocks to create another bridge.
Join the adults, cross the bridge, and stand on the panel to enter the next
room.
Go all the way north from your position for 20 coins. Now, circle around to
the other side and launch the babies onto the ledge. You will now see a
partial path. Move the adults to the red platform, under the large block.
When the block is red, have Mario hit it to light the dark area, allowing you
to continue to the next safe place. When its green, have Luigi hit it to light
the area. Once the babies pop out on the other side, have them hit the
floating chest for your first Cobalt Shard. Enter the door and hit the pipe
block to reunite the team. Use the pipe to go to the next area.
First off, save your game. Enter the next screen and use the steps to reach
the top. Hop on the panel and enter the doorway. Inside, you'll find
Toadsworth and another time hole to go to the present.
===============================================================================
Peach's Castle (Present) [00064]
===============================================================================
After your journey through the time hole, you'll see Professor Gadd is waiting
for you at the top of the castle. So, let's pay him a visit. This is where
you'll find out about the Cobalt Shards and how they fuel the time machine.
Then, the shard will create a time hole in the western part of the castle.
Before you head off, the Professor will award you with badges, so be sure to
equip it with Stuffwell's tutorial. Also, before you go, you can stop at the
shops to the east to buy equipment and items for your quest. When you're
ready, jump in the time hole to the west.
===============================================================================
Toadwood Forest [00065]
===============================================================================
First off, you know what to do; save your game. Take the path to the next
screen and hit the nearby Mario Block for 6 Bro Flowers. Then, head up the
ramp to the right and hit the block for 2 Mushrooms. In the clearing, you'll
find three tree stumps. You can throw the babies in these to fight Koopeleons
or gain some items, so go right ahead. After getting all the items and
defeating the Koopeleon, take the thin path north to the next screen.
After watching the short scene, throw the babies into the nearby trunk for a
Super Mushroom and 100 coins. Now, take the east path to the next area. Hit
the Luigi Block for 6 Bro Flowers and defeat the Koopeleon nearby. Inside the
trunk on the top level, you'll find 100 coins and 3 Green Shells. In the
middle tier, you'll find 3 Bro Flowers in the block and an Elato-Pirahna enemy
in the trunk. Drop to the thin bottom tier and take the path east.
Defeat the enemy on the top tier, then you'll notice the path to the Vim
Factory is sealed by a forest. Dang, looks like we'll have to find a way to
clear it. So, head down to the bottom tier and hit the Luigi Block for a 1-up
Mushroom. Defeat the enemy and take the path west.
Head to the southwest part of the area and launch the babies into the stump.
Now, as the babies, go through the linear cavern and hit the blocks with fire
to send them outside. Then, as the adults, hit the blocks to send the fire
into the middle block. Once they're all in the center block, the forest
blocking the path to Vim Factory will be destroyed. Head through the charred
path and down the pipe elevator to enter a new area.
Save your game. Head up the steps to the north to the next screen. The right
trunk has a pipe enemy, while the left one contains 100 coins and a pair of
Unarmed Jeans. Take the northern path and defeat the two enemies here. Keep
going north to the next screen. Then, take the east path. In here, ignore the
stump for now, then head north and hit the block for 5 Coins. Now, launch the
babies into the trunk.
In here, you'll find a block with an arrow that constantly changes direction.
This runs the platform to the right. Have the adults hop on the platform.
Now, as the babies, wait until the arrow points right, then hit the block.
When it reaches the next path, hit the block again to stop the platform. Hop
off and follow the path to the Wallet Badge. Head back to the platform and
keep going right to the next path and stop. Fight the pipe enemy and cross the
bridge to the next screen.
Hit the pipe block to the left to reunite the group. Launch the babies into
the trunk for 2 Green Shells and 100 Coins. Then, launch them up to the tall
platform on the right for 3 Bro Flowers. Now, head to the center with the tall
statue and block. Jump and launch the babies to hit the block, then, hit the
consecutive blocks to activate the first tower. Exit the screen to the north.
Keep going along the path, defeating the enemies in your way until you come to
a trunk. Throw the babies in, then have the adults stand on the platform to
the south. Guide the adults to the east, but when you reach a yellow platform
in your way, stop the platform, jump on the yellow one, then start up the
platfrom again and hop back on. On the far east is a ledge with a "!" block on
it. Hit it to raise a ledge back where the babies are. Now, guide the adults
back and reunite the group. Ascend the ledge to the next screen.
To the west are two blocks containing a coin and a 1-up Mushroom. Toss the
babies into the nearby log for a Mushroom and 100 Coins. Join back up with the
adults, and do the same thing as the other tower. Hit the high block, then the
consecutive blocks to activate the second tower. This creates a path leading
into the Vim Factory. Exit via the southern path.
In this area, you'll have to throw the babies into the trunk and guide the
adults on the platform again. You can head straight for the exit in the
southeast corner, but there are items scattered about. They include: a coin,
Wild Trousers, 3 Bro Flowers, 4 Coins, 10 Coins, and a 1-up Super. When you're
done, head to the Vim Factory entrance (be sure to hit the pipe block to
reunite the group), cross the newly formed bridge, and head down the pipe to
enter the factory.
===============================================================================
Vim Factory [00084]
===============================================================================
As usual, begin this area by saving your game. Step on the panel to open the
door. Inside, you'll find the L33T Hammer Bros., ready to PWN JOO!!! This is
your first boss fight, so here it comes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: Hammer Bros.
HP: 100 each
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the adults are sucked away by a giant nose, the babies are left to fend
for themselves against the Hammer Bros. The Hammer Bros. have two attacks,
both involve one hitting the other with a the hammer. They'll either go low
(jump to dodge and counterattack) or high (just stay put). It's easy to spot
as soon as its hit, or you can look at the Bro hitting the other. When he goes
off balance and kinda loses his hammer, then he's gonna hit it high. After
that, just use jump attacks (don't waste the Bros. Items) until one is gone.
When one is left, he'll just throw hammers in the air, landing on the babies.
Just look at the shadows to see which baby it going towards. Keep using jump
attacks to win the battle.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the battle, the Bros. will come to their senses and teach you the art of
the Hammers. Complete the crash course by following the directions the Hammer
Bros. give to you. Once the Hammer tutorial is done, step on the two-person
panel and enter the door. Dig under the gate, then pop up on the other side.
Follow the path, smashing all the crates, and enter the doorway at the end.
Dig under the first gate for 3 Mushrooms, then head back out. Then, dig under
the gate to the northeast. Jump up the platforms to the thin walkway and
follow it down to the south room. Here, you'll find 3 Green Shells and a coin.
Also, smash the big red button on the wall with your hammer. Jump back up to
the walkway and head to the corner to the west. Now, jump in the room across
from you. Hit the second red button and dig under the gate. Hop over the
wall, up the platforms, then into the duct.
Take the south path for 2 Refreshing Herbs. Backtrack and take the other path
and you'll eventually have a battle, where the Hammer Bros. will teach you the
fundamentals of fighting with hammers. After the battle, head south for
another enemy, then you'll be faced with two paths. The west path leads to a
Mushroom Drop, then the east path takes you to the exit of the ducts.
Drop down from the ledge and head south. Dig under the west gate and head into
the next room. Emerge, and hit the blocks for 10 coins, Unarmed Jeans, and 2
Refreshing Herbs. Head back out, then dig under the second gate and exit the
room. In this room, smash all four glowing orbs to release the adults. Now,
you'll be taught the art of Piggyback Hammer battling. After the battle,
launch the babies up to the ledge to the northeast and hammer the button to
open the door. I suggest hitting up the save point nearby, then standing on
the four-way panel to the northeast.
Hit the Mario Block for 4 Cannonballers, and defeat the enemies in this room.
Once that's done, head west to the next room. Head down the pipe elevator to
the next section. Once here, hit up the save point for a quick rest and head
into the next room.
Head to the top left corner to find 2 Refreshing Herbs in the Luigi Block.
Now, head back to the gate and dig underneath. Hammer the red button in the
top left corner to open the door to the east. As a group, head through the
newly opened door to the next room.
In here, launch the babies up to the ledge in the center of the room. Hit the
first red button to disable to forcefield below. Then, as the adults, head
east and hit the consecutive blocks to form a bridge for the babies. Cross it,
and dig under the gate and hit the button to disable the next forcefield.
Then, have the adults stand below the consecutive blocks. Now, as the babies,
hit the consecutive blocks above, then below with the adults. This raises a
platform nearby, which you'll use to reach a high path. Smash the crates along
the path, then hit the red buttons at the end to open the doors below. Hit the
pipe block to reunite the group.
Enter the door to the left first and defeat the enemy that awaits in the hall.
After disposing of him, enter the doorway to the left and hit the high block.
Hit the block that the floating thing goes to to rack up some coins. Exit the
room and the hall and head into the right doorway. Hit the Luigi block for 4
Cannonballers, then defeat the enemies here. Hit the Mario block for 3 Bro
Flowers and enter the next room.
Defeat the Shroob enemy and move forward for...YAY! Another frickin' moving
platform thingy. You know what to do. Toss the babies up to the ledge to find
the controls. Guide the platform to another platform in the center containing
a "!" block. This creates a bridge for the babies, but DO NOT CROSS YET! Keep
guiding the platform east. You can hit the blocks for a 1-up Mushroom, 3 Green
Shells, 2 Mushrooms, and a few coins. Head to the end and hit the consecutive
blocks to form a second bridge. Then, as the babies, cross both bridges and
meet up with the adults. As a group, step on the panel to open the door.
In this room, save your game, then step on the panel to open the door to the
next boss.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: Swiggler
HP: 250
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This boss really isn't that difficult, you'll just need patience and good
timing to get through. You'll notice that two Shroobs accompany the Swiggler,
but don't focus on them just yet. Also, don't hit the Swiggler when's he's
angry, or he'll counterattack with a vicious earthquake move. The Swiggler's
attacks are easy to dodge. He'll shoot a cloud of smoke at a character, so
just use the hammer to destroy it. Also, he'll fuel some ships with the juice
and they'll fire shots at you. Sometimes they'll reverse, so keep an eye on
that too.
When the Shroobs attack you, they'll hold one of two mushrooms in their hand.
If they hold a regular mushroom, don't attack them, as it will spill into the
drink and heal the Swiggler. If it's a dark mushroom, attack them and it'll
poison the Swiggler, allowing you to attack him directly. I would recommend
pounding him with Cannonballers to end it quickly, or, if you don't want to
waste your Bros Items, just use hammer attacks when he's poisoned. It can make
for a long battle, but at least you'll save your items.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the battle, you'll receive your second Cobalt Shard, but Baby Bowser
spoils the celebration by swiping both the shards you've collected. You'll
then be transported to the present and end up in Peach's Castle again.
Peach's Castle [00094]
===============================================================================
Be sure to save your game and head to the Gear Shop. Buy the Branded Slacks
for the adults and the Preferred Pants for the babies and make sure everyone is
equipped with some kind of Badge. Now, speak with the Professor by the throne.
He'll tell you which of the numerous time holes around the castle is the one
Baby Bowser went to. Before heading off to the time hole, head all the way
south to the garden.
Here, you'll meet up with the Toadsworths trying to stop the baby Princess from
crying. Although their "Toadsworth Twist" doesn't seem to work, the brothers
seem impressed and want to learn it. After the tutorial, head up the stairs on
the east side of the castle and into the library to the west. Now, jump up to
the bookcase with the platform beside it, and use your Spin Jump to make your
way to the warp hole.
===============================================================================
Yoshi's Island [00104]
===============================================================================
When you arrive, head to the next screen and enter the big hut to the right.
Inside, hit the Luigi block for a Shroom Badge and save your game. Exit, then
enter the next hut on the ledge above. Inside, you'll meet Kylie Koopa. As
the babies, hop on the spring to find Yoshi and friends. After the earthquake
and the giant Yoob leaves, head outside to find Kylie. Now, jump up on top of
the hut, then Spin Jump over to find 10 coins. Now, you can enter the hut to
the right to find Magikoopa. In the top of the hut, you can find 2 Smash Eggs
and 20 coins. Exit the hut and enter the one Magikoopa opened. Grab the 2
Smash Eggs and save your game. Then, exit the hut to the north and head across
the bridge.
Here, have the babies use the spring to end up in the clouds. Use the hammer
on the block to send it down to the adults. Hit it for 100 coins. Join up and
head to the next screen. Enter the hut, then you'll be at the far north
screen. Head up one of the ramps then down the pipe elevator. Save your game
and head to the next screen.
After Magikoopa sets fire to four places in this area, head to the fountain to
the north. As the babies, stand in the puddle to drink the water. While he's
bloated with water, face the fire to the east, then have Baby Luigi whack him
to put it out, clearing your path. Follow the path to the next screen.
Hit the blocks for 8 Smash Eggs and a coin. Then, have the babies use the
spring. In the three chests up here, you'll find 6 Smash Eggs, 20 coins, and a
1-up Super. Head back to the adults and ascend the huge slope to the next
screen.
Take the east path to find a "!" block blocked by fire. Utilize the spring in
the upper corner to send the babies to the clouds. Have Baby Mario use the
water to the north and shoot it in the pipe to the south to douse the fire.
Now, hit the red "!" block to make the bigger one tangible. Head to the newly
formed block, jump on top of it, and cross the bridge.
Hit the chest to the south for 2 Mushrooms. Then, hit the Luigi block to the
west for 50 coins. Before we make our way across the platforms, we need to
extinguish the fires upon them. Jump up to the ledge to the north and have the
babies dig under the fence and into the cave. Hit the block for 2 Smash Eggs,
then jump up the ledges to find a water source. Suck up some water, then shoot
some into the logs to the south. Before you exit the cave, hit the block for 5
coins. Now, starting from the right, Spin Jump your way to the platform on the
left to make the green "!" block appear.
Now, use the green block to reach a new ledge, then head east to extinguish
that last fire. Hit the block on the platform for 10 coins, then follow the
path north. Launch the babies up to the clouds, then switch back to the
adults. Now, you just have to hit the pipe blocks to make the water hit the
fire. So, the first would have a pipe receiving water from the west, then
shooting it south. The second receiving from the north, and shooting west.
The third receiving from the east and shooting south. Hit the final "!" block
to make the blue one appear.
Use the blue block to reach a new ledge. Hit the block for 2 Green Shells,
then take the path north. Use the pipe elevator to reach a new area. Start
off by saving your game, then head north.
Before jumping on the ledges, head west and hit the block for 10 coins. Head
into the next area to find 3 Green Shells waiting for you. Then, use the baby
spring in the corner to find 2 Smash Eggs and a coin up in the clouds. Now,
have the babies exit through the top to reach the ledge. As for the adults,
have them go back to the previous screen and Spin Jump across the ledges, using
the tornadoes to spin you farther. Once you gather up the young chaps, head
north to exit the screen.
Start off by defeating the enemies and hitting the nearby block for 3 Green
Shells. Then, as the adults, jump up to the left platform and Spin Jump into
the twister, then to the other side. Hit the Luigi block on the far right for
a 1-up Mushroom. Then, hit the "!" block to lower a platform, revealing a
gate. Have the babies dig under this gate and into the cavern. Hit the block
for 10 coins, then follow the path to the spring. Use it to arrive at the tall
platform with water. Have Mario snag some water, then drop down and shoot in
at the fire to extinguish it.
In this area, defeat the enemies and have the babies use the spring to the far
left. Up here, you'll find 2 Super Mushrooms, 3 Smash Eggs, and 3
Cannonballers. Drop down on the other side. As the adults, jump up to the top
of the nearby ledge, then wait for the twister to come near. As it does, Spin
Jump into it, then to the other side. Step on the panel to open the door.
Save you game, then move forward for a scene. Afterwards, you'll fight Kamec.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: Kamek
HP: 450
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This guy is pretty simple for a guy with a bunch of HP. First, let's start
with his attacks. One, he'll shoot a small shot at one of your characters,
then boomerangs to the other character; jump to avoid. The other is when he
drops either a spiked ball or a mushroom on top of your character. When its a
spiked ball, hit it back at him with your hammer, but do not hit the mushroom,
as it will heal him if you hit it back. He'll also make four clones of
himself. Hitting one of the clones will make them disappear, but if you hit
the actual Kamek, they'll all disappear and you can continue attacking.
Basically, I used jump attacks the whole time and had no problem.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the battle, head past Kamek's body to the next screen. Keep going for a
cutscene, where you'll be swallowed by the giant Yoob.
===============================================================================
Yoob's Belly [00114]
===============================================================================
After the quite humorous scene, have the babies use the nearby trampoline to
reach the giant middle area. You'll find Yoshi trying to push a boulder into
the hole to block it, but he can't seem to do it himself. We'll need to find
other Yoshi's to help him. Hit the pipe block to reunite the clan. Before you
forget, save your game in the bottom left corner. Now, launch the babies into
the left trunk to find a 1-up Super and 100 coins. In the others, you can find
a piece of fruit, and a Bully enemy. Give the fruit to the yellow Yoshi to the
north and he'll help out the other Yoshi. Afterwards, enter the room in the
bottom left.
You'll find the first Yoshi in here, but before you can free him, you must
defeat the Shroob enemy that is in here. Also, hit the block for 10 coins,
then head to the next room up. Hit the Luigi block to the north for 2 Super
Mushrooms, then head up to the color orbs on the north wall. Hit them to make
the left one blue and the right yellow to reveal a gate. Now, have the adults
stand by the closed door to the room with the Yoshi. See all those colorful
orbs? Hit the orbs in the room with the babies so that they match the ones by
the door. Save the Yoshi and head to the next room.
In this room, defeat the three sets of enemies and collect all the goodies in
this room (including the new Ice Flower Bros Item!). Now, head over to the
next room. Have the babies use the trampoline to reach a higher area. Hit the
block for some Ice Flowers then jump in the third hole at the top to reach the
platform with the Yoshi. Then, whack the button with your hammer to create a
bridge and free it. Exit the room and head to the final one. Have the babies
crawl under the gate and have Baby Mario soak up some water. Then, go south to
the window and hit the saucer twice to crash it. Fight the Shroob and free the
final Yoshi. Save your game and follow the Yoshi into the hole.
Hit the first two blocks you see for 3 Cannonballers and 3 Smash Eggs. Keep
following this path (yes, its quite long), defeating enemies and collecting
items along the way until you reach the pipe elevator, which you should gladly
take. Emerging from the elevator, save your game and enter the
next...eh...internal organ?
Hit the blocks for some goods and defeat the enemies. Make your way west, then
south to find the next area. Launch the babies up the trampoline, then fill
Baby Mario up with water and go to the ledge to the left. Now, have the adults
hit one of the eggs up, and have the babies hit it with water. Do this to both
eggs to open the doorway.
In this room, just grab all the items from trunks and blocks and defeat the
enemies, then enter the room to the south. Talk to all the Yoshi, as some will
give you items, then exit the room and head north. Jump on the panel to open
the new room. In here, you'll meet up with Toadbert, even though he doesn't
know anything about his past. After the scene, head north and save your
game...IT'S BOSS TIME!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: Sunnycide
HP: 300
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the start, you'll notice 5 eggs placed in front of Sunnycide. If you break
one open, you'll release a Yoshi, who then runs to a hill with a boulder. If
you break open all 5, then all the Yoshi will push the boulder down the hill
and onto Sunnycide. This will knock Sunnycide down, allowing you to jump on
him for major damage. Sometimes, he'll throw the eggs at you, with a target
going back and forth. Jump with the character the target lands on to avoid.
He'll also try to suck you in his mouth, so just hit him with the hammer when
you're near him.
When Sunnycide is down, he'll use an attack that involves pulling a chain down.
Watch which hand he uses, then jump with that character to avoid being sucked
down the hole. He'll also pull a chain to knock out the lights, then sends a
Boo to damage you and steal an item. Again, watch the hand he uses to dodge.
I found out that while he's down, using Cannonballers really deals a good chunk
