I'm snkupo, and I'm going to try being your best friend while you're playing through MegaMan ZX Advent on the Nintendo DS. It's been quite some time since last time I wrote a guide for a game, so please have me excused if I give a slightly rusty impression now and then. I'll try not to, but we're in for quite a ride here, as this is a pretty huge game. The most interesting part of this guide is most likely the main walkthrough, which contains information on how to get through every single level in the game, and how to survive those hyperactive, super-crazy boss fights you always seem to run into in MegaMan games. The main walkthrough also contains a ton of information related to items and hidden datadisks that you can find while playing through the game. If you're familiar with my older MegaMan ZX and Castlevania guides, you already know that I usually include optional items in the main walkthrough itself, providing checklists that you can use to keep and overview of items you have found and still need to find. In this case, I've chosen to list all of the datadisks in the main walkthrough. When it comes to items you get from doing sidequests, you should look at the sidequests section. Listing the datadisks' location on the go might seem like just a small detail for some people, but by listing these disks in the main walkthrough (in addition to their own dedicated sections), you can actually find them without having to look them up AFTER you've played through the game. Just like when you're eating huge meals, getting as much as possible, as fast as possible is the best! Ouch, that didn't come out quite right, but you get the idea, I hope! Please do also note that this is a general guide, and not an in-depth one. There are several sides to ZX Advent that quite simply are out of this guide's scope, such as taking down every boss in the game without getting hit. I'm putting together a general walkthrough for the normal difficulty setting. Not more, but certainly not less either. So, ZX Advent is all about exploration, collecting cool items from mad places, and fighting it out in lightning fast 2D shooting battles. We all know that many games in this genre are good as pink ice candy (yum!), but what about the storyline? Why are we fighting this time around? Just like in the first ZX game (go play it, it's a nice experience), the main characters are pretty much thrown into the action against their will, but what has been going on before you start playing? I'll try and get into that right away -- just for you! The MegaMan ZX series is the "current" series in the long-running Capcom franchise, continuing after MegaMan X on SNES/PSX/PS2/Saturn/PC (gaah!) and MegaMan Zero on the GameBoy Advance. Humans and Reploids live in peace, a situation that is being maintained by the government coalition named "Legion". However, Mavericks are still around to a certain degree, hiding in ruins and industry complexes, giving anyone they run into a damn hard time. At the same time, there's lots of valuable goods in these ruins. Naturally, people and Reploids are after these valuables. The whole storyline of ZX Advent revolves around such a valuable -- it starts off with a "Biometal" that allows certain persons to "Megamerge" into brand new forms. Of course, YOU are able to do that. In other words, you'll get new abilities and flashy looks! The rest of the storyline will unfold as you play, so start mashing those buttons soon. It's also worth to mention that you get to choose between two characters in this game. The bounty hunter girl named Ashe, and the mysterious Reploid Grey. While the main storyline is the same no matter who you pick, some dialog is unique for the character you're playing as. The same goes for the very first level of the game. Also, just like in the first ZX game, there are some small differences in recoil and buster shots. It's not enough to give the game a lot of replay value though, but at least the creators put it in there. As always when writing guides as huge as this one, I'm bound to miss something that should indeed have been covered. Because of this, I hope you'll be a nice reader and mail me about it if you spot something! That would be great, and it would get your name (or nickname) into the Credits section! It would also give me a great impression of you, and that makes the effort ABSOLUTELY worth it ;) I don't bite or anything either, I think I'm quite nice. With all that being said, I want to thank INTI for putting ZX Advent together. I also hope that you'll find my work useful, even though I'm not covering a brand new game or anything. So, find some ice candy, and start playing now! Pink ice candy. ~ snkupo :) =============================================================================== Controls [be02] =============================================================================== ,--------------------------------------------. ; __________________________ ; | | | | | | | | | | | | | . . . | - Upper screen - | . . . | | . . . | | . . . | | | | | | | | | | |__________________________| | + _.+ L --> `-. __________________________ . | |_ _| | - Lower screen - |[Y] [A]| Pad | |_| | | [B] | | | | | | | | o | :) Q: I've got some information I think should be added/corrected. A: Please mail me about it. Credit will be given where it's due. Q: Gosh! I can't beat a boss, but I am actually following your guide! Halp! A: ZX Advent relies on your reflexes a lot, and if those are too slow, you are going down, no matter what strategy you use. My best advice is to get and fill as many SubTanks as possible before going into a boss battle. Also, collect as many Life Ups as possible as well! Godspeed, my friend. Q: Hunters and Raiders.. What is the difference between them? A: They both hunt for valuables. The Hunters are "legal" according to the government, while the Raiders are not. Two different groups. Q: You're saying "Megamerge" when you should say "A-Trans" in this guide! A: Yes, I am aware of this. It's just what I'm like. Don't be mean. Q: Is there a way to extend Model F's "Buster Edit" feature with more squares? A: Yes, collect the Biometal upgrades. Q: Is there no such thing as repairing Biometal models in this game? A: Correct. Also, your Biometal models won't get damaged no matter what. Q: How do I crawl into narrow passages? A: Transform back to human/Reploid form! Q: How do I reach Legion HQ 4? A: Find the first air surfing board in Legion HQ 2, and step on it while in Bifrost form. The board will fall down and reveal the entrance to HQ 4. Q: How do I unlock the "Model a" and "Quiz Advent" mini games? A: Complete the game on Normal difficulty. Q: What about the "Gem Buster" mini game? How do I get it? A: Just speak to Julian in Hunter's Camp 2. He'll give it to you. Q: Where do I find a specific item/datadisk? A: Use the search function (CTRL + F in most apps) and search for either the item/disk name, or part of the name. Q: What is the "booster" item used for? A: It gives you a speed boost during the Highway Race sidequest! =============================================================================== Opening Level [wa01] =============================================================================== --- RAIDER PURSUIT ------------------------------------------------------------ Hello! It's great that you made it down here to the main walkthrough. I'm covering the game while playing on the normal difficulty setting, but that doesn't mean you're not allowed to read if you're playing on another setting. Depending on what character you choose to play as, you'll start out in either an abandoned lab, or a level that takes place ontop of several flying aircrafts. Grey is the lab-rat, while Ashe takes her action up to the clouds. There are no hidden items to find in the very first level, and the enemies you meet are a true pushover. In other words, no matter what character you choose, the first level is all about going from left towards right, until you meet a mini boss. The boss is the same for both Ashe and Grey. As you might have guessed already, I'm telling you this because I won't play as both characters while putting this document together. I like Ashe, so that's who I play as. Aside from the first level (which is a walk in the park, no hidden items) and some dialog, the game is the same for both characters, if you look away from minor differences in recoil and shots you fire. I think I've told you about this so many times that you're starting to get tired of me, so let us continue now -- we're here to play a game, after all, aren't we? The first thing you'll get to see is a lobby, where some weird persons are standing, talking to each other about a mission they're carrying out for the government organization "Legion". They're searching some ruins for a precious item! Hunters like these guys do most stuff, as long as they get an income out of it. The item they're looking for is a so-called "Biometal". You know all about those if you're familiar with the ZX series. If not, you're in for a nice surprise later on. Anyway, the Hunters want to find the Biometal before their companion Ashe does. Unfortunately for them, Ashe has already gotten into the right mood, and jumps off the Hunter aircraft, into free fall! Seems like our favorite girl is about to earn herself a bonus on her Hunter paycheck! Now that Ashe has landed on an aircraft below the one she jumped off, you're in control. There's some dumb Mavericks running around here, but they won't be able to touch someone like you! Start running right. Once you've passed the chain that is linking the current aircraft onto another one, you'll run into the first Maverick. Shoot him with your buster (Y button!) and proceed right. Grab the energy pack ontop of the roof in front of you, then hop onto the blue moving platform. Continue right, taking down any Mavericks you see, and jumping onto the blue platforms you run into. There really isn't anything else to do here in this level, it's actually quite boring. For me too, that is. After thirty seconds of running and jumping, it's time for a boss battle. Ready!? +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+ | Boss Battle - DOGU THE GIANT - Boss Battle | +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+ | | | Elemental weakness: --- | | | | - General Info: This boss might look a little scary, but he's pretty | | easy to take care of. Firstly, there is one platform in the middle | | of the area, but you won't be able to shoot at his eyes from here, | | and the eyes are the boss's only weak point. So, jump onto his left | | or right hand, and shoot at his eyes from there! You don't have any | | flashy weapons or anything yet, so concentrate on shooting many | | weak shots at his eyes, and avoid being damages by his moves. | | | | - Laser Look: Both of the boss's eyes start flashing, then two laser | | beams will shoot out! To avoid the beams, just wait on the platform | | in the middle of the area. Once the beams are gone, quickly jump onto | | one of the two hands, since you'll be hit by some yucky stones | | being spit at you, if you stay at the middle platform. | | | | - Hand Crush: If you're standing on one boss hand and the other hand | | suddenly flies upwards, off the screen, hop down onto the middle | | platform. This way, you'll avoid being crushed by the moving hand | | that will come dropping down onto the hand you were standing on. | | | +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+ Wow, you really kicked some butt there! But even so, you won't have that much luck in the upcoming cut-scene. Watch Ashe as she meets Prometheus, and cry when he takes her down. Everything goes black... did Ashe die? Did she!? --- HUNTER'S CAMP ------------------------------------------------------------- o----------------------------o I have something sad that I need to tell | ITEM CHECKLIST | you.. Ashe.. Ashe, she.. She survived! Got | | you there, eh? I'm evil like Wily! Anyway, a | Hunter's License......[ ] | Hunter named Nicol comes and wakes Ashe up, | | after she's been sleeping in a clinic-like o----------------------------o building. Nicol says that the Hunters that live in this camp saved Ashe, and managed to retrieve the Biometal that Ashe was looking for before being taken down by Prometheus. That's good, isn't it? Now the Hunters are planning to take the Biometal to the government coalition Legion, and they're going to use an old train to do it! Nicol says that Ashe should try saving her progress, then he leaves the room. I bet you're interested in having a look around the camp, so go outside now. Yes, outside NOW! As you can see once you're outside, the numbers "03" are painted on the building you've been sleeping in. Go left from building 03 and talk to the girl there. She's named Anna, and is some kind of nurse! She can't do anything for you now though, but seeing her sure was nice. Enter the building behind her, which is building 02. In here, you'll meet a man named Gary. Once you've collected some datadisks (you'll do that later on) you can come back here to have the information inside them analyzed. In the first ZX game, there was a system like this as well, and the man running it was named Fleuve. Remember? Analyzing datadisks will give you some cool sprites to look at, and cool background information on a lot of different enemies. Pretty nice feature. Go outside again now, as you don't have any disks to analyze. If you want to, you can continue left to building 01, which is a bar. Talk to the three people in there, then sprint outside again. Once you've talked to everyone, you should go back to building 01, and from there go right to find building 04. Open the door and step inside, dear reader. This is what we call a Transerver room. In here, you can save your game, accept new missions that have been unlocked, and transport to warp points that you have activated at various places. Transervers are also used to report back to HQ once you've completed a mission. Step onto the Transerver and press UP. You'll receive a nice and flashy [Hunter' License]! Great, now you're certified to leave the camp, accept missions and more. A real hunter, once again! After getting the license, select the "Data Management" options from the Transerver menu. Save your progress. Now that you've saved, go speak to the girl standing near the Transerver room exit. She explains how Warp Points (like the device behind her) work. When you see an orange Warp Point, you can activate it if you've got enough E-crystals. When playing on Normal, activating a Warp Point costs 100 crystals. Not too bad, really. Once activated, you can warp to any Warp Point using a Transerver. Now that you have the license, you can go to the left end of the Hunter's Camp in order to find the Hunter Pierre and the digging hunter Kidd. Kidd says that he want a donation so that he can keep on digging for something valuable, but you don't have those crystals yet. Later on, you'll be able to get a SubTank from him. This is covered in the Sidequests section. Now go back to the Transerver entrance, but head right instead, opening the gate there to Reach the Hunter's Camp 2 area. =============================================================================== Transport The Container [wa02] =============================================================================== --- HUNTER'S CAMP 2 ----------------------------------------------------------- Normally when starting on a new mission, you have to pick it and confirm it in a Transerver, but since you're not really into the game yet, this second mission got started automatically for you by the game. No worries, though. Go a little bit right to meet Jarke. He says that you should proceed further right if you want to head towards Legion. Well, follow his advice and enter the door just behind him. You'll arrive in the Train 1 area. --- TRAIN 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------- There's a Warp Point near the entrance. Most o----------------------------o likely, you don't have the crystals needed to | ITEM CHECKLIST | activate it just yet, poor as you are. So, | | continue running right, opening the gate in | Biometal Model A......[ ] | front of you. Run down the stairs, ignore the | | reception room if you don't like pointless o----------------------------o chats (I like them!), and just continue running right in order to reach the train. It's about to leave right now, so get your small body on it now, before it leaves! You don't want to be left alone here at the station, you know. It's pretty lonely here. No fun at all. The hunter Billy is waiting for Ashe on the train, and he sure likes to chat. When the train starts moving, Ashe tells Billy about her sad past, and then, some seconds later, everything goes BOOM! Mavericks attack the train, and true hell breaks loose! Prometheus is here as well, and he is NOT happy. To make it even worse, he's brought his "friend" Pandora with him as well. Ashe is lucky though, as the Biometal stored in the crate behind her breaks out, and Megamerges with her! Crazy stuff! So much is happening at once! Now you're a MegaMan, controlling [Biometal Model A]! Prometheus and Pandora get so scared that they escape right away! Allright, are we mighty powerful, or what? Just kidding, we're weak. Anyway, now you can change between Human and Model A form by pressing the X button. Needless to say, you'll want to stay in Model A form for the moment, as everyone knows Humans are weak creatures. Note that your buster is now more powerful, and can be charged! In addition, by holding the R button, you can use a homing shot ability by holding the R button. Try it out once you meet some enemies. You can read about all the new moves by accessing the pause menu and pressing R/L until you reach the Profile screen. Start running right along the train, and watch out for enemies, especially the purple Galleons with rocket launchers. Avoid their rockets, then shoot them. When you see some flower-like machines dropping bombs down from above, use the homing attack to take care of them. Once you've done that, open the gate in the right end of the area. Take the energy pack on the floor, and proceed right. --- TRAIN 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------- o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Buckfire DNA...................[ ] Datadisk B10...................[ ] | | | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o If you look above you after entering this area, there is a datadisk on a ledge. However, you can't jump all the way up there just yet, so continue making your way right instead. We'll get the disk later on -- I'll remind you! The Pseudoroid boss Buckfire is waiting for you just ahead. He's a hot creature, and is really angry at Model A for choosing Ashe. Buckfire breaks the roof on the train wagon he's standing on, and prepares for battle! We're READY TOO!! +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+-----+ | Boss Battle - BUCKFIRE - Boss Battle | +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+-----+ | | | Elemental weakness: Electric | | Weak point: His head | | | | - General Info: At the beginning of the battle, Buckfire will break | | the roof he is standing on by crashing into it. He might also shoot | | arrows at you. Quickly dash under the arrows if he shoots them, | | and at the same time avoid being hit by his crash into the roof. | | The battle itself is easiest to fight down inside the wagon. | | | | - Fire Arrows: Buckfire shoots three burning arrows towards you. | | Be quick and dash under them. Dash TOWARDS the arrows, not away from | | them. You don't want to become roastbeef! | | | | - Twin Boomerang: Two boomerangs are thrown into the air. Stand close | | to Buckfire at first, then quickly do a jump when the boomerangs | | move back towards Buckfire. Don't jump too early! | | | | - Ground Crash: Buckfire jumps up, then crashes down into the ground | | in a diagonal motion. Just dash away from him when this happens. | | Of course it would be dangerous to stand above him on one of the | | top edges, but you should be down at the ground, not up there. | | | +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+-----+ Bam! Buckfire blew up! After the battle, you'll receive the [Buckfire DNA], which is similar to when you receive new Biometal models. Try it out -- press the X button and choose Buckfire from the Biometal menu. As you can see, you are now able to transform into a creature that looks exactly like Buckfire, and has the very same abilities, such as jumping high up into the air. Biometal Model A tells you to try out two of Buckfire's moves, so let us do that now. First, hold the Y button while jumping, the release it while you're in the air to do a downwards tackle. Use this tackle move to break the metal block that's found on the floor in the middle of the train wagon. After breaking that block, it's time to o----------- Optional ------------o break the ledge hanging in the upper | | left end of the wagon. To do so, hold UP | - Type: Datadisk | and Y while standing below that ledge. | | Now release the Y button to crash | Head back to the Train 2 area | upwards into the ledge, shattering it | where you killed Buckfire. Use | into thousand pieces. Great job. If you | your Buckfire DNA to jump up on | forget about these moves, just have a | the ledge in the left end of | look at the Profiles screen after | the area. Up here you will find | pausing the game. Now hit the X button | [Datadisk B10]. If you have | and transform back into your Model A | trouble getting up there, use | form. Ashe and Model A now go back to | Buckfire to jump onto the wall, | the Hunter Camp by themselves. In other | then Megamerge into Model A to | words, they go without you having | jump up to the top. | to do anything at all. Back in the Hunter | | Camp, you should enter the Transerver o---------------------------------o room where you saved your game and got the Hunter's License earlier. Access the Transerver menu to save your game and report to Legion about the mission you just went through on the train. The reward for completing the mission is a decent amount, 200 E-crystals. But, what is this? The moment after you got the crystals, three weird men popped up on the screen! They're the Sage Trinity, three wise men that control Legion. Very, very mysterious-looking too, every single one of them. Their names are Thomas, Mikhail and Albert. The Sage Trinity has received word that the Mavericks are after the Biometal (Model A) that Ashe is carrying, and now they want you to bring it to Legion as quickly as possible. You don't have a choice here, so just accept the [Red Card Key] from Albert and be happy about it! Your task now is to find an old, crashed plane and get some parts from it, so that you can repair the train and try driving it to Legion once again. =============================================================================== Tower of Verdure [wa03] =============================================================================== --- HUNTER'S CAMP ------------------------------------------------------------- After accepting the mission named "To The Crash Site", go outside of the Transerver building, and head left until you reach Hunter's Camp 1, where Pierre is standing. While being Megamerged into Model A, wall-jump upwards on the gate just right of Pierre. You'll be able to hop onto a roof where the Hunter George is standing. He's watching over [Datadisk B06] up here. So, grab that disk right now! The next thing you should do is to backtrack towards the right. Keep running in that direction until you're back in Hunter's Camp 2. --- HUNTER'S CAMP 2 ----------------------------------------------------------- o----------------------------o At the very entrance, merge into Buckfire and | ITEM CHECKLIST | jump up to the ledge just above you to find | | [Datadisk O05]. Now, right of that datadisk, | Datadisk O05..........[ ] | close to the Hunter named Jarke, there is a | Gem Buster............[ ] | ledge that you can jump up to. It's just a | | small one, but as a tiny human, you couldn't o----------------------------o get up there earlier! At the top, head right past a fat Hunter, and climb up the ladder. Speak to Julian up here to get the [Gem Buster] mini-game. You'll be able to access it from the main menu after turning on MegaMan ZX Advent, if you just save your progress first. Now open up the red door located just left of Julian himself. That's why you got the Red Card Key earlier! It wasn't useless after all! It actually lead to a brand new area -- Hunter's Camp 3! What are you waiting for? Get in there now! --- HUNTER'S CAMP 3 ----------------------------------------------------------- There's not a lot to do in this area. Speak to o----------------------------o Owl, the eating Hunter, then go to the upper | ITEM CHECKLIST | right end to find Warren and his daughter | | Blossom. Run right past them, and speak with | F. Range Key..........[ ] | Richard. After talking to him once, a "!" sign | | appears above his head. If you talk to him o----------------------------o again, he gives you a [F. Range Key] and challenges you to beat his record in the shooting range. Enter the Firing range found just behind him. Yeah, the door behind him, that is. The goal here is to take out at least 100 enemies before the time runs out. It might take a couple of tries, but in the end, it's actually quite easy to pull off. Start by shooting enemies using normal buster shots as soon as they enter the screen. Then, once the enemies appear more frequently, start using the homing attack, taking down several enemies per shot! It's all about technique, you see. Once you've beat the record of 100 enemies, talk to Richard again to get 100 E-crystals. Do note that the F. Range Key will vanish from your inventory after seeing Richard again. And, that's good! No more scrap for us! Being 100 crystals richer, proceed right from where Richard (haha, he isn't RICH anymore now, is he?) is standing. Activate the Warp Point in here, then continue right, opening the gate in front of you. Welcome to the next level. --- TOWER OF VERDURE 1 -------------------------------------------------------- o----------------------------o You'll find yourself in a corridor. Watch out | ITEM CHECKLIST | for the tentacles that come popping out of | | the background when you go near their hiding | Datadisk E29..........[ ] | places. Take them out using homing shots, and | | shoot at the walls that are blocking your way o----------------------------o in order to break 'em. In the right end, there is a gate leading into a new room. The alarm ticks off in here, you can't avoid it no matter what you do. The enemies now know you're here, and I'm sure they're thirsty for some trespasser blood. As expected, the exits get sealed, so you can't go back! You don't know what to do, but don't worry! Albert gives you a call, and tells you to deactivate the security system using a supercomputer in the upper part of the tower. Ok, we're going to do that right away. For you, Mister Albert! Start moving upwards by jumping onto the vine that grows in the middle of the room. Take out the small circle-formed enemy on the path, and don't let yourself be fooled by the purple object that looks like a pack of energy, since it really is an enemy. A little further up you'll find two E-crystal packs on a ledge close to the right wall, so dash-jump up to get them, just don't touch the spikes that are set out near them. Now proceed upwards and open the first door you see. You'll find yourself in a room with a beetle that keeps moving on a green platform. Take the beetle down and jump over to the right end of the room to find [Datadisk E29]. Now go back to the previous room. Make sure to still watch out for spikes, as there are several scattered around, and make your way to the top. You'll probably spot the datadisk outside of the left wall, but to get it, you'll need new the DNA of the boss in this level. We'll come back here once we have it -- I promise. Anyway, at the very top, there is a hole in the ceiling that you can reach using Buckfire's charging jump. Do so to get a huge energy pack, then exit the room in the right end to find yet another Warp Point. Proceed right for a rather quick boss battle. --- TOWER OF VERDURE 2 -------------------------------------------------------- +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+-----+ | Boss Battle - SPIDRILL - Boss Battle | +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+-----+ | | | Elemental weakness: --- | | Weak point: --- | | | | - General Info: This monster is a spider that comes crawling from above. | | As you can see, there are some weird colors on the spider's feet, | | and the same colors appear on the blocks that you are standing on. | | What could that possible mean? The boss will STOMP it's foot down into the block of the same | | color as it foot, and you don't want to get squashed. | | | | - Spinning Feet: All of his feet start spinning around. Stand close to | | his face, then jump straight upwards each time a spinning foot gets | | uncomfortably close to you. | | | | - Small Spiders: Lots of small insects are throw out of their poppy's | | body. Use your homing shot to take them all out once they hit the | | ground. Incredibly easy, to be honest. | | | | - Electro Beams: The boss shoots several electric beams into the air. | | Dodge them by dashing once they come falling down at you. | | | +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+-----+ Once you've achieved glorious victory against the spider boss, exit right to find another Warp Point. Activate it if you've got the crystals for it. You should have, if you've been collecting enemy drops. Afterwards, run right into yet another new room. I Hope you're not tired of Verdure's Tower yet. --- TOWER OF VERDURE 3 -------------------------------------------------------- o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Datadisk M08...................[ ] Life Up........................[ ] | | Datadisk E15...................[ ] Datadisk E32...................[ ] | | | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o Blow up the wall blocking your path, o----------- Optional ------------o then run right. Anyway, at the top, there is a huge gate, just like the one you might have seen before fighting Buckfire at the train earlier. You know what that means -- Crazy boss bashing! --- TOWER OF VERDURE 4 -------------------------------------------------------- o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Rospark DNA....................[ ] Datadisk B18...................[ ] | | | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o After opening that gate, you'll find a Warp Point and a weird, green creature that seems to be tormenting a Raider that's hiding in the left end of the room. Brave as you are, you're the only one here that has the guts to fight this guy off. So, let's start the action now -- the green creature is more than willing to fight you, so there's nothing wrong with getting excited here. +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+-----+ | Boss Battle - ROSPARK - Boss Battle | +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+-----+ | | | Elemental weakness: Ice | | Weak point: --- | | | | - General Info: Rospark is a weird Pseudoroid. He can't walk very | | quickly, so instead, he climbs on the poles hanging on the wall. You | | can easily move below him by dashing at most times. Use Model A's | | charged buster shot in order to damage him. Do also note that it's | | usually best to stay in one of the corners of the room, so that you | | can get at least half a second of reaction time when Rospark shoots | | at you with his spike attack. | | | | - Spike: Rospark shoots several small spikes towards you. Wall-jump in | | the lower left or right corner in order to avoid the spikes. You should | | be able to place yourself between the lowest spike and the one above | | by using this method. You can also just dash below him to get behind | | him, so that he can't hit you. | | | | - Thunder Spike: Similar to the Spike attack, but this time, Rospark | | shoots three spikes charged with electric energy. The spikes hit the | | wall, and will make it dangerous to touch the wall for some seconds. | | So, after dodging the same way as with the normal Spike attack, stay | | away from the electric wall until you can see that the electric | | energy has vanished. | | | | - Mad Charge Beam: Rospark starts charging electric energy into his own | | body, flashing like mad for a couple of seconds. When he does this, | | be quick and get behind him by either jumping over him or dashing | | below him. If you're not quick enough, Rospark might hit you with a | | absolutely mega-huge beam. | | | | - Pole Thunder: He electrifies the pole he's climbing on. Just don't | | touch the pole. | | | | - Triangle of Death: A triangle of electric energy appears after some | | spikes have reacted with each other. Just don't go into the triangle, | | and you'll be fine. Not very hard to avoid at all. | | | +----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+-----+ It won't be a shocking event for most of you, as you've probably guessed how the whole ZX thing works: You'll receive the [Rosepark DNA] now that you've won the battle. That's a great thing, mostly because by using this form, you will be able to climb on poles like the ones Rosepark himself was climbing on. That means you'll be able to gain access to new areas and hidden stuff! Yes! Great! Also, get out of the boss room by moving left. The Raider from earlier, Gerry is here, and he's shaking in his pants. Badly. Gerry has a good reason for doing so, but he doesn't know it himself just yet. Watch what happens to poor Gerry, then listen to what the two guys that just popped up have to tell you. Their names are Aeolus and Siarnaq, and they're not nice guys at all! We'll have to deal with their pitiful existence later on though, since right now, they both escape as quickly as they appeared. You don't really need me to tell you, but continue left now, to find a room full of spikes. Happily, there are poles here to, so merge into Rosepark and climb to the left end of the room to find [Datadisk B18] on the floor. In the next room, there's a Transport pad waiting for you. Step on it and press UP on the directional pad to activate it. When asked to transport, do so to get taken back to Tower of Verdure 1, the very beginning of the level. It's good to be back here for sure, after clearing the level and all. We didn't end up shutting off a computer like Albert told us to do after all. Weird, and cool. --- TOWER OF VERDURE 1 -------------------------------------------------------- o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Datadisk E34...................[ ] Datadisk E16...................[ ] | | | o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o First of all, go to the right end of the o----------- Optional ------------o area to find that the gate that was | | |
