Version History [VER] / +---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Version 1.00 (April, 14, 2009) -Interest to finish up the FAQ just recently sparked up after playing Mega Man ZX. After almost 2 whole years, I've finally decided to finish up the final loose ends. -Finished up Item C, added Descriptions, added names of people, changed Data Disks to Secret Disks, changed format. Version 0.91 (November 26, 2007) -Changed some names to match the English version and added alternative methods for a Sub Tank and the Extender Chip. Version 0.9 (October 30, 2007) -With the release of the English version last week (27th), many sections were changed to match the localized version. Another section (Name Changes) was added. A few edits like Queenbee's Gold Medal Strategy were either changed or edited a bit. Version 0.81 (October 7, 2007) -Slight changes. Added information to monthly items. Version 0.8 (August 14, 2007) -Added monthly items. Only Item C is incomplete. Version 0.74 (August 2, 2007) -Updated some items and fixed some errors. Version 0.7 (July 30, 2007) -All Data Disks, most items, all power ups, and all medals (with strategy). Working on a complete item list. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ |2. Introduction [INT] / +---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ This FAQ was made for the purpose of helping people collect missing disks and find items. Use the Ctrl+F to find what you need easier. Note: This IS NOT A SPOILER-FREE FAQ! Although it’s hard to find spoilers in an Item FAQ, reading certain things such as the boss secret disk names may spoil the plot. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ |3a. Foreword [FOR] / +---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ I would like to address a couple of things: 1. Although there are better methods to getting certain items, I use the earliest available method. For example, you will often see “use Buckfire’s Rockit,” instead of “use Model H’s Air Dash (Up).” 2. If you’re playing a new game and have received Model a, you can substitute any Hedgeshock prerequisite with Model a (unless it involves how far you are into the game). 3. Several items require you to complete quests "Find The Pickaxe" and "Give Order To The Shop". In order to do that, pay Kidd until you reach your third room (1500EC). He’ll ask you to find a legendary pickaxe. Go to Quarry Area 1 and find the pickaxe next to a Vitaful (fake life energy) to the left of a ladder. Give the construction worker the pickaxe and leave the building. Return and the fourth room will be available. Talk to Romeo and he’ll ask you to check on his shelf. Go to Train Area 3 and go to the stores. Talk to Austin to chech up on the shelf. Return to Romeo at Hunter’s Camp Area 4 to finish the quest. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ |3b. Name Changes [NAM] / +---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Thanks to Capcom of America, names from the original Japanese version have been changed when translated into the English version. Here's the list: Japanese English Rockman = Mega Man Live Metal = Biometal R.O.C.K.* = M.E.G.A.** Rock On = Megamerge Falseroid = Pseudoroid Deerburn = Buckfire Condorock = Vulturon Kaisemine = Queenbee Tesrat = Hedgeshock Tethys = Thetis Helios = Aeolus * R.O.C.K. = Rebirth Of Crystallised Knowledge System **M.E.G.A. = Meta-Encapsulated Granule Awareness System Rockman to Mega Man - Rockman was a reference to Rock and Roll (in the Classic series, Rockman had a sister named Roll). However, when brought over to America, it's a common belief that the name switch was a result of Sony's Rockman amplifier. Rock On to Megamerge - Rock On, another reference to Rock and Roll, was the phrase used to transform, but was changed to Megamerge to fit with Mega Man. Tethys to Thetis - The pronounciation is similar, but since the names of the four Mega Men in the Japanese version were references to Saturn's Moon (not sure about Helios, though), the Japanese is more likely to be Tethys. Thetis, although not one of Saturn's moons, is a sea nymph in Greek mythology, so his name still fits with his water attribute. Helios to Aeolus - Since Helios was the personification of the sun in Greek mythology, it's likely they decided to change it to Aeolus, the ruler of winds in Greek mythology, so that the wind element from Model H would fit in with his name. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ |3c. Location List [LOC] / +---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Since many players can familiarize the stages by their bosses, this list will help players identify which stage is which. Location................Stage Boss ---------------------------------- Hunter's Camp...........None Train...................Buckfire Arctic Ice Floe.........Chronoforce Tower of Verdure........Rospark Oil Field...............Model F Atlas Legion HQ...............Model P Siarnaq Scrapyard...............Vulturon Control Center..........Queenbee Highway.................Model L Thetis Floating Ruins..........Model H Aeolus Quarry..................Model ZX Vent/Aile Bio Lab.................Bifrost Mysterious Lab..........Hedgeshock Waterfall Ruins.........Argoyle and Ugoyle Ouroboros...............Albert Stages generally have 3 or 4 areas. Use the Rough Map on the touch screen to locate which area you’re in. Use the Detailed Map to see how far you are into the area. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ |4. Power Ups [POW] / +---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Power ups are items found in stages that permanently change your stats. They are: Life Up: Extends life bar by 4 units. Biometal Upgrade: Extends Biometal bar by 4 units. Sub Tank: Extra life energy will be stored in Sub Tanks. Life bar may be restored using the stored life units in the Sub Tank. Holds up to 30 life units per Sub Tank. Note: In Expert Mode, Life Ups and Sub Tanks are replaced by Super life energy, while Biometal Upgrades are replaced by large Biometal energy. Only one Sub Tank is available through Expert Mode, which is obtained from the Floating Ruins Quest "Find Ancient Artifacts". Note 2: There's a medal that requires you to only hit Vulturon with Model A's Giga Crush. Since it takes more than one Giga Crush to defeat Vulturon, it is recommended you do not get any Biometal Upgrades until getting Vulturon's Gold Medal. This is because the more Biometal Upgrades you have, the longer it takes for the Biometal bar to refill. The format for the upgrades looks like this: +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: | |Prerequisites: | |How to get: | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ |4a. Life Ups [LIF] / +---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Tower of Verdure Area 3 | |Prerequisites: None | |How to get: There’s a pillar of blocks that fall when you | | try wall climbing it. Go underneath and wall | | jump with Model A to the right of the pillar. | | Climb up to the top to get the Life Up. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Control Center Area 1 | |Prerequisites: None | |How to get: Before the elevator, there’s a rope leading up. | | Use Rospark to go up the rop, and then enter | | the door. Climb up the wire while avoiding the | | fire shooting blocks. At the top left is a | | Life Up. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Scrapyard Area 2 | |Prerequisites: Vulturon (optional) or Queenbee (optional) | |How to get: At the second set of three doors, take the | | right door. Use either Vulturon’s Hover or | | Queenbee’s Fly to maneuver through the spikes. | |Alternate Method: Before the three of doors is a spiked | | gate and a bar that opens the gate. Pull | | down the bar with Model P and climb over. | | Change to Chronoforce and use his Time | | Bomb. Switch back to Model P and hurry | | over to the third door. Slide down the | | wall before the spiked gate closes. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Waterfall Ruins Area 2 | |Prerequisites: None | |How to get: In the second part of area 2, go left and swim | | up a waterfall using Model L. Enter the hidden | | door at the top. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ |4b. Biometal Upgrades [BIO] / +---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Oil Field Area 2 | |Prerequisites: Model F | |How to get: At the beginning of area 2, use Model F’s | | Ground Breaker and Megaton Crush to break the | | pipes. Follow the path right until you reach it. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Highway Area 1 | |Prerequisites: None | |How to get: Later in the area there are blocks underneath | | the road. Use Model F’s Megaton Crush to break | | these until you reach a switch. Use Chronoforce’s | | Time Bomb and switch to another form. Hit the | | switch, then hurry to the other side. | |Alternate Method: Attack the switch on the right side with | | either Queenbee's Needle Shot, Model H’s | | Plasma Cyclone, or Model A’s Giga Crush, | | and then enter. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Quarry Area 3 | |Prerequisites: None | |How to get: While being chased by the mini boss Crushpactor | | DD, use both Model F’s Megaton Crush to break | | the blocks quickly and hurry to the right. The | | Biometal Upgrade is surrounded by blocks and is | | over a hole. Only destroy the side blocks so | | it doesn’t fall. | |Alternate Method: Use Vulturon and do Guitar Hammer | | while using Hover underneath so that it | | drops on Vulturon. This method is too | | troublesome and isn’t recommended. | |Lockedg3's Method: If you outrun the crusher, exit the | | room, and back track, you can still get | | the Biometal Upgrade without having to | | worry about the crusher chasing you. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Bio Lab Area 2 | |Prerequisites: None | |How to get: There’s a block you can lift that blocks the | | water drainage. After pulling it with Queenbee's | | Dock, push it back in with another form. Go to the| | right to find another block blocking a water pipe.| | Lift the block with Queenbee again to raise the | | water level as well as the platforms blocking the | | the Biometal Upgrade. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ |4c. Sub Tanks [SUB] / +---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Arctic Ice Floe Area 2 | |Prerequisites: Rospark | |How to get: In the upper right corner, there are ropes over | | blocks of ice. Use Rospark to climb them and | | get the Sub Tank. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Legion HQ Area 2 | |Prerequisites: None | |How to get: Board a blue platform at the bottom of the | | screen and crash it into a window. Attack the | | cracked window to break it. Inside is the Sub | | Tank. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Floating Ruins Area 3 | |Prerequisites: Queenbee/Vulturon/Bifrost, and Model H | |How to get: Enter the door a third of the area to the right | | and talk to Meg to start the Quest "Find Ancient | | Artifacts". You’ll need to find four antique | | items, each in different areas. They are: | |..............................................................| |1. L Tank: At the very beginning of area 1, use Model H’s | | Air Dash (Up) or Buckfire’s Rockit to go up the | | left ledge. | |2. Pinwheel: Around the middle of area 2 on a grey tower, | | use Model H’s Hover to drop through the | | tornados. | |3. Old Balancer: Climb up the left wall in area 3 with | | Model H, break the blocks with Bifrost’s Ice | | Bite and follow the path. | | userzagger has found two alternate methods to get the | | Old Balancer early without Bifrost: | | Queenbee Method: Climb directly above the cave where | | you talked to Meg. Change to Queenbee | | and fly to the left while staying near or at | | the top of the screen. The two Pulse Cannons | | will stun you, but you'll be able fall on the | | Pulse Cannon and reach the cave. | | Vulturon Method: Climb directly above the cave where | | you talked to Meg to find a blue platform. | | Board it and recharge your Biometal bar until | | you have about 16 units (full bar in Expert). | | Jump into the tornado and keep bouncing until | | the wind blows left. When you bounce to the | | top of the screen, hover to the left. You | | should reach a spot with two Pulse Cannons | | and the cave with the Old Balancer. | |4. Light Bulb: In area 4, fall down the right hole | | while hovering with Model H. Hover to the | | left to find an opening under the boss arena. | |..............................................................| | After receiving all four items, return to Meg | | and talk to her multiple times. She’ll reward | | you with the Sub Tank. | |Note: This is the only Sub Tank available in Expert Mode. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------+ |Location: Mysterious Lab Area 3 | |Prerequisites: Argoyle and Ugoyle | |How to get: After hitting the third battery into the slot, | | climb up the ladder and hit another battery | | down the hole. Drop down and hit it to the | | right and into another slot. Climb up the | | other ladder and enter the yellow door. Go to | | the very right and use Argoyle’s Ghost to get | | the Sub Tank behind the pipes. | +--------------------------------------------------------------+ +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ |5.
