That means 25 monsters listed. ---------------------------- 02 INTRODUCTION ---------------------------------- As a Bestiary Guide, I want to analize every monster in the Game "Mistery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer DS". Why am I doing this? Well, I think this is one of the best games in this console, and I want to do a good tribute to it, making an accesible guide for everyone that want to know more about the World around Shiren. You will be wondering: How do you know about the Monster's Attack and Defense value, drops, etc? Well, I'm basing some things of this guide in a Japanese one that comments these values. If you want to know more, try to access this guide: "Fushigi no dungeon: Fuurai no Shiren DS Perfect Guide". But I warn you: It's in Japanese Language... All credits to chunsoft for this. This is going to be a Monster Guide, so I won't write anything about the game's mechanics: I think there are other guides in Gamefaqs that teach well those tips. Many monsters have dual type. You will find these monsters listed 2 times, one in every type it has (ie. a dragon is a dragon and flying creature, so it will be listed in both "flying and dragon" monsters). ------------------------ 03 MONSTER'S GENERAL TIPS----------------------------- - Remember: the action is turn-based, so if you are in trouble, close the DS, go to eat something or listen some music and go back after. - Monsters have usually 4 levels, with 3 exceptions: The fluffy bunny, that doesn't level up; the Kigny tribe, that can level up to 99; and the Inferno family, which also can level up to 99. - Always take care, even weak monsters can pose a threat if they surround you. - If Monsters kill another monster or NPC, they will level up to their next stronger form. That means you have to take care when using Doppleganger staffs or other stuff that can make monsters kill others. Monsters of the Ironhead family attack other monsters if they are between you and them. Monsters of the Kigny tribe attack all monsters and NPCs. Monsters that have ranged straight attacks, will do their attacks even if there are monster between you and them. Be aware of that. - Monster's meats have many uses. If you eat one, you will transform into that monster and gain its abilities!! But also remember that if you throw them, the target will be transformed into that monster too. That means, even not useful meats like Mamel and Robber ones, can be thrown to a high leveled monster to transform it. -------------------- 04 EXAMPLE OF A MONSTER'S PROFILE ------------------------ -------------------------------------- MONSTER'S FAMILY -------------------------------------- ***** "Monster's Name" ***** Health Points (HP): Maximum Health points the monster has. EXP (Experience): The experience points shiren can get per kill. ATTACK: determined by Crosses (X). The more (X) they have, the stronger they attack will be (maximum of 5 X). DEFENSE: determined by crosses (X). The more (X) they have, the stronger they defense will be (maximum of 5 X). SPECIALS: Special moves the monster can do. WEAKNESS: Attacks that are super-effective to that monster. MEAT'S PROPERTIES: Special properties that Shiren obtains when eating its meat. LOCATIONS: The dungeons/floors where the monster can be found. There are 8 dungeons in this game: - Road to Kobami Valley: the trial dungeon (5 floors) - Kobami Valley: The main dungeon (30 floors) - Tainted Path: Main dungeon's continuation (Floor 31~99) - Ceremonial Cave: The Kigny dungeon (30 floors) - Ravine of the dead: Where you have to find Pekeji (50 floors) - Kitchen God Shrine: the "meat" dungeon (99 floors) - Scroll Cave: the "trap" dungeon (99 floors) - Final Puzzle: the Fay's last problem (99 floors) DROPS: If the monster drops a specific item, it will be reflected here. TIPS: The best way to act when dealing with them. I will only write here if the monster is dangerous and/or annoying. -------------------------- 05 CURSE TYPE MONSTERS ----------------------------- ----------- Curseless Armband protects against their curse attacks ------------ These monsters can curse your items, making them unusable. Cursed shields, weapons and armbands will lose their (good or bad) abilities, and if they are equiped you can't remove them. Cursed items can not be used and if they have special abilities (like the strengthening jars) they will be lost. -------------------------------- 05-AA CURSE GIRL FAMILY -------------------------------- They look like a pretty girl with big lips. ***** LEVEL 1: Curse Girl ***** HP: 25 EXP: 40 ATTACK: X DEFENSE: X SPECIALS: They can curse one of your items per turn. Kill them at distance or seal them. -------------------------- 06 DRAGON TYPE MONSTERS ---------------------------- -------------------Dragon Killer does 2x damage to them ----------------------- ----------- Dragon Ward protects against their fire (halving damage) ---------- One of the most dangerous type in the game, the monsters of the Dragon type like to use fire attacks for high ammounts of damage. Be careful when you deal with them. -------------------------------- 06-AA DRAGON FAMILY -------------------------------- Probably the strongest monsters in this game are from this family. They have high attack and can breath fire for high damage. In the other hand, they are usually in the deepest parts of the dungeons, unless you find a special dragon house early, in which case... simply, run. They are also Flying monsters, so they are weak to Air Slayer too! ***** LEVEL 1: Dragon ***** HP: 90 EXP: 1300 ATTACK: XXX DEFENSE: XX SPECIALS: They can breath fire in a straight line for 30 fixed damage. If other monsters are in the way between you and dragons, they will be affected by their fire too. WEAKNESS TO: Dragon Killer does 2x damage (dragon type) and Air Slayer does 2x damage (Flying type). Dragon Ward halves their damage to 15. MEAT'S PROPERTIES: Shiren can breath fire in a straight line for 30 damage. LOCATIONS: - Kobami Valley: Floors 27~29 - Ceremonial Cave: Floors 19~23 - Ravine of the Dead: Floors 2~4 - Kitchen God Shrine: Floors 28~35 - Scroll Cave: Floors 27~35 - Final Puzzle: Floors 27~35 DROPS: TIPS: They are strong, so use staves to your advantage. Even if you seal them, their normal attack is also powerful, so take care. Only fight them one on one. ***** LEVEL 2: Sky Dragon ***** HP: 100 EXP: 2600 ATTACK: XXX DEFENSE: XXX SPECIALS: They can breath fire from anywhere in the room for 40 fixed damage. WEAKNESS TO: Dragon Killer does 2x damage (dragon type) and Air Slayer does 2x damage (Flying type). Dragon Ward halves their fire damage to 20. MEAT'S PROPERTIES: Shiren can breath fire to monsters in the same room for 40 fixed damage. LOCATIONS: - Tainted Path: Floors 60~66 - Ravine of the Dead: Floors 10~13 - Kitchen God Shrine: Floors 56~65 - Scroll Cave: Floors 56~65 - Final Puzzle: Floors 46~60 DROPS: TIPS: They are strong, so use staves to your advantage. Even if you seal them, their normal attack is also powerful, so take care. If you find one, exit the room and battle them into the corridor. ***** LEVEL 3: Ark Dragon ***** HP: 120 EXP: 4000 ATTACK: XXXXX DEFENSE: XXX SPECIALS: They can breath fire from anywhere in the floor for 50 fixed damage. WEAKNESS TO: Dragon Killer does 2x damage (dragon type) and Air Slayer does 2x damage (Flying type). Dragon Ward halves their fire damage to 25. MEAT'S PROPERTIES: Shiren can breath fire to monsters in the same floor for 50 fixed damage. LOCATIONS: - Tainted Path: Floors 90~99 - Ravine of the Dead: Floors 20~31 - Kitchen God Shrine: Floors 90~99 - Scroll Cave: Floors 90~99 - Final Puzzle: Floors 86~95 DROPS: TIPS: They are strong, so use staves to your advantage. Even if you seal them, their normal attack is also powerful, so take care. They will be spamming their fire attack from anywhere in the floor, unless you are inside a wall. ***** LEVEL 4: Hell Dragon ***** HP: 150 EXP: 7000 ATTACK: XXXXX DEFENSE: XXXXX SPECIALS: They can breath fire from anywhere in the floor for 60 fixed damage. WEAKNESS TO: Dragon Killer does 2x damage (dragon type) and Air Slayer does 2x damage (Flying type). Dragon Ward halves their fire damage to 30. MEAT'S PROPERTIES: Shiren can breath fire to monsters in the same floor for 60 fixed damage. LOCATIONS: - Ravine of the Dead: Floors 39~50 DROPS: TIPS: They are strong, so use staves to your advantage. Even if you seal them, their normal attack is also powerful, so take care. They will be spamming their fire attack from anywhere in the floor, unless you are inside a wall. -------------------------------- 06-AB FIREPUFF FAMILY -------------------------------- They look like baby dragons, and act like these. They have a lower fire attack than dragons, and also their fire attack can fail. ***** LEVEL 1: Firepuff ***** HP: 15 EXP: 10 ATTACK: X DEFENSE: X SPECIALS: They can spit fire for a fixed 10 damage, but this attack can fail. WEAKNESS TO: Dragon Killer does 2x damage (dragon type) and Air Slayer does 2x damage (Flying type). Dragon Ward halves their fire damage to 5. MEAT'S PROPERTIES: Shiren can spit fire for a fixed 10 damage, but the attack sometimes fail. Some act like mines which explode when they are low in health, and the other ones are tanks that fires against you affecting all surrounding monsters too. -------------------------------- 08-AA POPSTER TANK FAMILY -------------------------------- These monsters have a ranged explosive attack that damages the target and monsters in its surrounding 8 squares. They are dangerous because if they kill anyone in that recoil damage, they will level up. Mini Tank (level 4 of bowboy family) will be transformed into a Popster tank if it levels up. These and the monsters of the Skull Mage Family are possibly the MOST dangerous monsters in this game, even more than dragons. ***** LEVEL 1: POPSTER TANK ***** HP: 36 EXP: 65 ATTACK: XX DEFENSE: XX SPECIALS: They move and attack at half speed (1 move every 2 turns). They have an explosive ranged attack that hits Shiren and monsters in his 8 surrounding squares for 20 damage. Items lying in the floor in those 8 squares will vanish. WEAKNESS TO: Crescent Arm does 2x damage to them. Blast Shields halves their explosion attacks, meaning you will receive 10 damage. MEAT'S PROPERTIES: Shiren can attack at distance with an explosive attack that affects the target and its 8 surrounding squares for 20 damage. Remember that if there are items in the floor in those 8 squares they will be lost forever. Shiren will also move at half speed. Seal them, use a confusion scroll, make them go to sleep, do whatever you can but don't let them fire to you. ***** LEVEL 4: CRANKY TANK ***** HP: 80 EXP: 3500 ATTACK: XXX DEFENSE: XXXXX SPECIALS: They move and attack at double speed. They have an explosive ranged attack that hits Shiren and monsters in his 8 surrounding squares for 50 damage. Items lying in the floor in those 8 squares will vanish. WEAKNESS TO: Crescent Arm does 2x damage to them. Blast Shields halves their explosion attacks, meaning you will receive 25 damage. MEAT'S PROPERTIES: Shiren can attack at distance with an explosive attack that affects the target and its 8 surrounding squares for 50 damage. Remember that if there are items in the floor in those 8 squares they will be lost forever. Shiren can move and attack at double speed. LOCATIONS: - Ravine of the Dead: Floors 32~50 DROPS: TIPS: "Scary" is the word to use. Moving and attacking twice in a turn means 100 ranged damage if you haven't an equiped blast shield. Fortunately, they can't level up anymore, so you can let those monsters surrounding you die without that level up penalty. However, they are strong enough to kill you in 2-3 turns, so use a confusion scroll, make them go to sleep, do whatever you can but don't let them fire to you. -------------------------------- 08-AB SPIKE BOMB FAMILY -------------------------------- These monsters will explode when they are low in Health, so you have to be cautious with them. if you are not sure that your next blow will kill it when they are in its red form, don't do it. **** LEVEL 1: Spike Bomb ***** HP: 50 EXP: 20 ATTACK: X DEFENSE: X SPECIALS: When their health are below 45 % they will turn red and won't move.
