Cannon in World 1

I have 2 questions. Which way do you get to the cannon in world 1. And where does the cannon shoot to???

ht side and go in it. then use shell mario there but don't go up the yellow pipe.

u have to get shell mario and go in the room where one of the star coin is. when u r in the room find a gap place on the right side and go in it. then use shell mario there but don't go up the yellow pipe.
