1. What's New?
Version 1.0 (I have made a complete walkthrough with dialog and other info)

2. Introduction
This is my first FAQ/ Walkthrough so if you have any helpful info, please e-
mail me at the address at the bottom. In King Kong, you play FPS-style for
most of the game as Jack Driscoll. Some levels of the game allow you to play
as King Kong himself in third person mode.

3. Story
Carl Denham leads a team to Skull Island to make a movie. However, the
island is not uninhabited and many dangers and monsters await them.

4. Walkthrough
Prologue: Carl Denham has lost the confidence his producers once had in him as
a director. To save his career once and for all, he decides to produce a movie
with his friend and scenario writer Jack Driscoll, starring Ann Darrow, the
film's heroine. For the purposes of the film, they land with some sailors on
Skull Island, a lost island in the Pacific Ocean.
Ann: I can't believe it! This is it… the Island of the Skull.
Jack: Good! At last we found it!
Carl: Okay - I've got the camera, I've got my leading lady - Jack, stick with
me. I may need you for rewrites.
Hayes: Jack, I got a bad feeling about this. I wish Miss Darrow had stayed on
the ship.
Jack: I wouldn't underestimate Ann. She's from New York. She's used to the
jungle.
Ann: KEEP HER STEADY, MEN!! STRAIGHT AHEAD!

01/17 - Skull Island Part 1
Welcome to Skull Island! You start off on a rocky coast with a few paths
leading off in different directions. I don't even know why the paths are
there - they don't lead anywhere. For now, go straight past the broken set of
stairs until you reach the rock wall. Here, go up the stairs to your right. A
cutscene will occur.

02/17 - Skull Island Part 2
Carl: Look over there! The entrance to a cave! Jack, could you check it out?
Jack: Ok. Coming with me, Ann?
You are now in a cave with Ann. Walk into the room up ahead. There is a
spear rack to your right, but there are no enemies here - don't bother with
it. Near the door is a lever. Pick up the lever and use it in the mechanism to
open the door. There is another spear rack here with no use for it. Continue
on towards the door and double-tap the touch screen to call Ann to activate
the mechanism and open the door. Walk through the door.

03/17 - Crabs Part 1
Walk forward and pick up the spear in front of you. When a crab comes at
you, press the trigger button with the crab relatively centered on the screen
to kill it instantly. Pick up the next spear and kill the next crab. Continue
until you find another spear. Pick it up and continue into a larger room and
kill the crab the approaches you. Continue down a path to your right and pick
up the pistol on the crate. It is supplied with 8 bullets and 4 extra
cartridges - 40 bullets total. Continue to the next spear rack and pick up the
spear. Wait behind the rack for a crab to approach, and then kill it. Pick up
another spear, and kill the next crab. Two more crabs will approach Ann, to
the right of where you are standing. Stay next to the spear rack and launch
spears at the two crabs. Follow along the right wall to find a lever you have
to call Ann to activate. Go through the door that she opens, along the path
until you come to another door.
Stand next to the door and look above you, to the right. There is a lever
that Ann has to activate. Wait until she gets close enough that you can call
her to open the door. Go down the path and pick up the machine gun that you'll
find - you'll need it. At the end of this path is a huge room with a gigantic
crab. Be careful, this guy is pretty tough. Keep as far away from him as
possible. Keep shooting him until he charges at you. While he is charging at
you, shoot his underbelly. If you shoot him correctly, he'll flip over
temporarily. Keep shooting at him and he should die.
Once he is dead, call Ann to activate a lever that opens the door. Go
through the door and shoot the crab that attacks you. Continue down the path
to another crab that is easily taken care of. Pick up the lever on the box,
then quickly drop down to the room you were in before to eliminate the crabs
attacking Ann. After that, go to the right of where you dropped down to find a
closed door. Use the lever in the mechanism to open the door to your next save
point.

04/17 - Crabs Part 2
Pick up the shotgun in front of you and continue to the room ahead of you.
Use one shot on the crab in front of you to make it go up on its hind legs
then another shot to kill it. Continue down the path and kill the crab that
comes out on Ann's path. In the next room, there will be a beehive that killer
bees come out of. Focus on shooting the beehive first, but kill any bees that
come too close. Walk over to the door in the corner of the room and call Ann
to open the door. Pick up the shotgun along the path to load up on ammo. Stand
at the doorway of the next room and you should be able to take out the two
beehives. At the end of the room is a door with a lever on each side. Call Ann
to pull one lever while you pull down on the other. Through the door is a path
almost identical to one you've walked through before. Kill the crab that
approaches you and then walk around the curve. Another crab will attack you
while one is attacking Ann. After you kill the crabs go into another
duplicated room, this time with two beehives and one spear. Kill the two
beehives - you can use the spear, even though it is not necessary - and call
Ann to open the door for you. Walk through to get out of these caves.

05/17 - Carl's Back Part 1
Jack: It feels like everything on this island is trying to kill us… We
have to get off this island… We must try to get back home.
Ann: Do you hear that?! It sounds like a plane!
Jack: It's Captain Englehorn… It seems that sailors launched a distress
signal!!
DOWN HERE!!! CAPTAIN ENGLEHORN!! WE'RE HERE!!
Ann: What is he doing? He's leaving!!
Jack: He needs to find a stretch of water that's protected from the storm.
First, we must open this door.
Ann: I'll go have a look!
Yes, there's a winch up here… I can open the door for you.
Jack: AAAHH!
Ann: NOOOO! LET ME GO! JAACK! JAAAACK!
NOOO!! AAAAHHH! NOOO!!
HELP! JAAACK!
Finally, you're out of the caves. Pick up the shotgun in front of you. On
this path, only kill the crabs that get in your way; run away from the rest.
These crab holes continuously spew out crabs, wasting your ammo, and
eventually killing you. At the stairs, pick up the shotgun on the box for more
ammo and walk up the stairs. Get next to the spear rack and kill the onslaught
of crabs from both holes. Once no more crabs approach, open the door and walk
down the path to an open area with two raptor-type dinosaurs. Quickly run down
into the hole on your left and pick up the shotgun. Pop out of the hole to
lure the dinos out of their lairs then shoot them, backing into the hole. They
will fall down, pick up their heads, and then get back up. Shoot them one more
time to kill them. Once both raptors are dead, open the door and kill the crab
along the path. Continue to your next save point.

06/17 - Carl's Back Part 2
Walk forward to converse with Carl Denham.
Carl: Jack! Jack!
Jack: Carl… Thank God! You got away from them!
Carl: Yes, I think I shook them off.
Jack: Come along, hurry!
Carl: I can't, I'm stuck! We have to get the door open.
You have to find the lever to open the door for Carl. Walk down the path to
the left. In the next area, there is a raptor, but you are unarmed. As you
enter the area, make a beeline for the closest doorway. Wait for the raptor to
leave then use the other doorway in the little hideaway to go straight across
to another walkway. Again wait until the raptor goes away to make a quick u-
turn around the wall into a safe walkway. You can now safely enter the next
path directly to your left. Pick up one of the spears and kill the crab up
ahead.
Continue along the path to find another similar situation with a raptor.
Duck into a compartment to your right. Make your way along the walkways and
pick up a spear from the pile when you are safe. Don't waste these on the
raptor; walk up the stairs, turn immediately to the right, kill the crab, pick
up another spear, and kill the crab behind you. Go up the stairs and pick up
the machine gun. It wouldn't hurt to pick up the other spear back there. Drop
down to find a rack with three spears and a lever. Down below, Carl is
standing with crabs attacking him. DO NOT drop down: there is a gap and you
will fall and die. Instead, use your spears and machine gun to defend Carl.
Once you have eliminated the crabs, pick up the lever and open the door. It
will lead you back to the earlier path which you must backtrack on. You should
probably kill the raptor but you can also just avoid him using the walkways.
Walk back to the door and use the lever to open the door for Carl. Walk
through for another conversation.
Carl: Thanks Jack! But where's Ann? Did you lose her?
Jack: The Skull natives offered her to a huge Kong they worship!
Carl: What!? We have to quickly find her… Be careful Jack! Skull Island
Natives have been following me for the past twenty minutes.
There is a shotgun over by Carl that you can pick up if you want. Walk back
through the path you went through before. There is that other raptor that you
have to kill. Hide in the compartment when he comes near and shoot him until
he dies. You may have to repeat hiding and luring. After he is dead, walk down
the path and call Carl to place an explosive on the debris. Run away so you
aren't hurt from the blast, and then kill the two crabs in the next area. Get
away from the blast and then walk down a longer path to your next save point.

07/17 - Kong00
Carl: LOOK OUT!! Jack! Are you OK?
Jack: Yes, I'm alright… Carl! Look over there!
Carl: Ann's right there, She's been taken by King Kong!
Alright! You get to play as Kong now! Swing on the closest branch onto a
vine wall. Slide down the vine wall, swing across the three branches, and land
on the other side. Kill the two little raptors and climb up the small wall.
Climb across the large vine wall onto the other side. Climb across another
vine wall to the other side. Kill the raptors and climb across another wall
and jump onto the opposite wall. Use the branch to the little vine wall and
climb up to the ground. Remove the pillar from in front of the door, and break
down the door. Here you have to face a T-Rex. You can get past this situation
in many ways but I found one very easy way. Stand half-way up the stairs
because the T-Rex can't walk up them. He is not close enough to hit you, but
you can keep on pressing the X button to deal tons of damage. When he is down,
Kong will automatically start breaking his jaw. Press Y repeatedly to
successfully kill the T-Rex. Alternately, you can just skip the T-Rex and run
up the stairs. Break down the door and travel through the tunnel, jump onto
the wall, climb up the wall, across the waterfall, and up to a vine. Swing
across to another wall, climb up to the top, kill a raptor, and walk through
an archway.

08/17 - Hayes's Back Part 1
Ugh… my least favorite level of the game. Walk into the tree to find a
spear rack with infinite spears. Throw the spears through the windows at the
bats until you've killed all the bats. Carry one spear with you for later on.
Walk across the bridge and go straight in the stone walkway. You will find a
shotgun, which is very useful. Go back and take a right at the split. This
will lead you to two crab holes and three spears. Kill the crabs with your
spears and shotgun and then open the door after you have killed them all. In
the next area, you will see a spear in the ground. Quickly take it, kill the
crab, and run to the next spear rack. From here, run straight to the doorway,
avoiding the crabs. When you see the bridge, turn to your right and head up
the stairs. A huge crab like the one you faced early in the game is up ahead.
Shoot it a lot to when flips over and it should die. This is one of the
hardest parts of the game. You may have to do this several times. After he
dies, open the door and grab the sniper rifle and drop down onto an earlier
path. You will have to kill those crabs you avoided earlier. For some reason,
my sniper rifle had no effect on them, and I just had to run past them, taking
some damage. When you reach the bridge, use your sniper rifle to take out the
bats that keep appearing. Once bats stop coming, carefully cross the bridge
and continue to the save point.

09/17 - Hayes's Back Part 2
In front of you is Hayes. Approach him to converse.
Jack: Ha ha ha! Hayes! Boy am I glad to see you alive!
Hayes: Yeah… Nearly was it. We should never have followed Carl on this
wild goose chase… But, where's Miss Darrow?
Jack: The Skull Islanders took her. They offered her up as a sacrifice.
Hayes: Who to?
Jack: You're not going to believe this… Some kind of gorilla. He's
enormous… He must be at least 25 feet tall.
Hayes: Gorilla?! That means she's in real danger. Hurry, we've no time to
waste!
Follow Hayes, pick up the shotgun, and help him destroy the beehive. Call
Hayes to help open the door, and then help him destroy the two beehives in the
next area. Pick up the machine gun for extra ammo. Open the door and shoot the
beehive at the end of the hallway. Watch out for the crabs that attack both
you and Hayes. Follow the path to a spear rack, where you can use the spears
to help protect Hayes from bats. Call Hayes to pull the lever to open the
door. Pick up the sniper rifle in the next room. You will have to walk down a
long pathway, protecting Hayes from bats by using your sniper rifle. When he
reaches the crab holes, use your sniper to protect him from the crabs also. At
the end of the pathway, call Hayes to use the lever to open the door at the
beginning of the path. Go back to the door for your next save.

10/17- Kong01
Hayes: What was that?
Jack: HAYES!! THERE'S… THERE'S AN ENORMOUS PREHISTORIC MONSTER!!
Hayes: HE'S CHARGING ON KONG!!
Jack: LOOK OUT!!
Ok, you're Kong again. This time, there is no easy strategy for beating the
T-Rex. He's really cheap and you'll be constantly pressing the Y button to
prevent him from killing you. When you are not repelling him, you should keep
on pressing the A button. Eventually, you'll break the T-Rex's jaw and Kong
will beat his chest. Remove the pillar blocking the doorway and break down the
door. Swing across branches to a vine wall, onto a branch, then onto the
ground. Break down the door and kill the raptors if they pester you too much.
Swing across to the vine wall, jump to the other wall, swing across two
branches to the ground, and get ready to face another T-Rex. Once you win,
remove the pillar and break down the door and move on to your next save.

11/17 - Carl's Return Part 1
Ann: NOOO! HEEEELP!
Pick up the machine gun in front of you. Kill the raptor and open the door.
Kill the two bats beyond the door. Pick up the spear along the path and kill
one bat. Kill the other with your machine gun. Approach Carl for dialogue.
Carl: Who's there!? Is that you Jack? Where are you going?
Jack: Carl! Come on! I think Kong is nearby.
Call Carl to blow away the debris. Continue along the path until you come to
another machine gun. Walk along the path to the right and call Carl to
activate the crank. Step on the platform and shoot down the bats that attack
you and Carl. Continue down the path and destroy the beehive. Keep on going to
a pit with two spears in the ground. Kill the raptor and call Carl to remove
some debris.

12/17 - Carl's Return Part 2
Call Carl to activate the crank and step on the platform. Defend yourself
from two bats and move on. Destroy the two beehives and call Carl to destroy
the blockade. Kill the raptor you encounter and grab a shotgun in one of the
walkways. Call Carl to blow up another blockade. Call Carl again to activate
the crank. Pick up the sniper rifle, use the platform, and snipe out the three
bats.

13/17 - Kong02
Carl: Jack, wait Jack! …I'm sorry, Jack but… Count me
out… I'm
finished.
Jack: Huh??... You can't give up now, Mr. Denham!
Carl: Listen, I'm really sorry about this, but this is hopeless… I'm
going back to the ship.
Jack: I can't just leave Ann in this island. I'll join you as soon as I can
free her.
Ann: HEEEELP!
So we come back to Kong. You start out facing a T-Rex. Joy. Once you defeat
it, remove the pillar and break down the door. Swing across to a vine wall,
climb across it, and slide down. Kill a couple of bats and climb up a short
wall. Again, swing over to a wall, climb across it, and slide down. Jump to
the opposite wall, swing onto a platform, swing onto a vine wall, climb across
it, slide down, swing onto another vine wall, and jump to the opposite wall.
Swing onto the ground, climb a short wall, remove a pillar, and break down the
door. Climb across a wall, then walk to a branch, swing to a wall, slide down,
and swing to a vine wall and climb up. Climb up the next wall, travel along
the path, and swing onto another area. Kill the bats here and swing to the
next path. Finally, swing to your last T-Rex battle. Kill it and move to the
check point.

14/17 - Ann First Escape Part 1
Ann: HEEELLLPP!! KONG!! KONG!! KOOONG!!
Jack: Miss Darrow! Miss Darrow!
Ann: Jack! You're still alive…
Jack: We have to get out of here, right now. Let's get back to the ship…
Ann: …What happened to Carl?
Jack: He made his choice… He's no longer our problem… The
most
important is that we escape from that monster.
Ann: He's not a monster. He could have killed me, but he didn't instead he
saved my life. We should stop making him into something that he's not…
Jack: I see. We have to think about us now… we don't belong here. All
that counts now is that we stay together and get to the ship.
Grab the shotgun in front of you. Kill the bats that attack you and Ann.
Move on and kill the raptor that you encounter. Pick up a shotgun in a walkway
if you need more ammo. After that, open the door. Pick up the sniper rifle and
shoot the bats that attack Ann. Further along, another bat will pester Ann
that you will have to kill. Move along and pick up a shotgun. I experienced a
glitch of an invisible raptor in the next area and I'm not sure if it's just
my game or every game. Move along to find another raptor to kill, visible this
time. After you defeat the raptor, continue along the path.

15/17 - Ann First Escape Part 2
In the area to the right, you must avoid the raptor, using the familiar
safety walkways method. Pick up the shotgun and use the safe method to
conserve ammo. Call Ann to help open the double-lever door. Move to the crank,
where you must call Ann to activate the platform. Step on the platform, kill
the bats in front of and behind you. Move on and use the two spears to kill
the bats ahead of you. Pick up the sniper rifle, eliminate the bats at the
bridge, and cross the bridge.

16/17 - T-Rex Chase
Ann: By the way Jack, Thank you.
Jack: For what?
Ann: Not leaving… for coming to get me. I didn't know writers were so
brave…
Jack: Neither did I.
Ann: JACK!! THERE'S… AN ENORMOUS… I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO CALL
IT…
SOME KIND OF PREHISTORIC MONSTER!!
Jack: LOOK OVER THERE, THERE'S A RAFT NEARBY. WE'LL TAKE IT! IT'LL BE SAFER!!
In this level, you have a T-Rex chasing you the entire time. Every time it
starts charging, give it two or three well-placed shots in the chest to
temporarily stun it. Keep it away as long as possible or you will take a lot
of damage. At times, it will stray to the side, to wait for you. Kill any
beehives to prevent damage. When the T-Rex is about to bite, shoot it to delay
it until you pass by. Eventually, the T-Rex will run away and all you have to
do is destroy a beehive and then it's smooth sailing.

17/17 - Kong03
Jack: Ann… there's something I want to tell you…
Ann: …what is it…?
JAAACK!
Jack: ANN!! COME BACK!! IT'S A TRAP!!
Ann: THEY WERE WAITING FOR US!! IT'S A TRAP!!
NOOOOOOOOO!! JAAAAAACK!
Jack: AAAAAAAANNN!!
I must find my way to the village. Kong will certainly try to get her
back from there.
Ann: NOOO! HEEEELP! HEEELLLPP! KONG!! KONG!! KOOONG!!
Ahh, the last mission is a Kong mission. The way it should be. Swing across
and break down the gate. Make your way along the path to the next door killing
bats along the way. Destroy the door and move down the path to the next door.
Destroy it, swing across the pit, kill the raptor, and climb onto the cliff.
Congrats, that's the game! Time to watch the cutscene! I won't post the
dialogue; you gotta earn it for yourself!

5. Controls
Jack—
Control pad or A, B, X, & Y buttons - move Jack
Touch screen - direct first-person view
L or R - fire weapons & activate levers
Double-tap touch screen - pick up objects or call character
Kong—
Control pad - move Kong
B button - climb walls & swing from branches
Y button - clear pathways & jaw break finish
A button - basic hit
X button - Repel & ascending hit

6. Characters
Jack Driscoll - character you control in FPS parts. Leader of the group &
familiar with all the weapons
Ann Darrow - persuades team to advance into the island. Only she can
communicate with Kong. She opens doors & activates cranks.
Kong - giant gorilla over 25 feet tall who is very powerful. Protects Ann
whenever she is with him. He is character you control in third person parts.
Hayes - one of the seamen among the crew. He is familiar with weapons and
protects his companions & helps save Ann. Carries gun & opens doors.
Carl Denham - carries explosives & activates cranks. Responsible for team's
arrival on island.

7. Enemies
Venatosaurus - very similar to a raptor. I refer to them as raptors in the
walkthrough. It can jump and has a lot of health.
Giant crab - the giant crab can vary considerably in size and is found in most
parts of Skull Island.
V-Rex - similar to a T-Rex, which I refer to them as. Invincible when facing
Jack, only Kong can harm or kill it.
Killer bees - come from beehives and hurt Jack a lot.

8. Weapons
Pistol - can repel an enemy but killing one with it is difficult
Shotgun - very powerful up close but slow and weaker further away
Sniper rifle - long range and lots of power; low firing rate and bad at short-
range
Machine gun - extremely high firing rate with average range.
Spear - very powerful for some reason and found on racks
(object) lever - can be used to open massive doors
