Main Characters - Coming Soon! D. General Tips - Coming Soon! E. Walkthrough =========================================== EPISODE ONE: TURNABOUT MEMORIES ATTORNEY: Mia Fey =========================================== 1.1 TRIAL The case opens with Mia and her boss, Marvin Grossberg, discussing the case. There is a bit of a tutorial about using the Court Record for people new to the series, then you'll have a chance to use that information. The judge will ask you the cause of death. If you haven't already done so, tap the Court Record button and look at the Autopsy Report. According to that document, the cause of death was a fatal electric shock, so select "Electrocution" from the list. Prosecutor Payne will then comment that there is bad blood between the defendant and the victim. The judge will ask you the cause of this bad blood. Present the profile of Dahlia Hawthorne. Now it's time to get this show on the road. Payne calls his first witness - the defendant, Phoenix Wright! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Testimony: Phoenix Wright ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I. The Victim and I - Um, I.. I admit I was there. - But I'm not a killer! All I did was find his body! - I hardly knew the guy to begin with... - I never even talked to that stuck-up British wannabe! You can press the second and third statements for some additional information. Press the fourth statement and Mia will point out that if he "hardly knew the guy" how would he know that the victim was a "British wannabe"? Phoenix revises his testimony to add the following line: - He was always walking around with a huge Union Jack on the back of his shirt. Grossberg will ask you if you can handle this yourself now, or if you still need a little help. Select your answer and continue the cross-examination. Press the last statement and Phoenix will insist that he saw the Union Jack at the crime scene. Run through the testimony one more time and present the [Crime Photo] at the fifth statement. Mia points out that if Phoenix just stumbled upon the body, he couldn't have known what was on the T-shirt. Payne thanks Mia for exposing the defendant's lies. He asks Phoenix what he is taking for his cold. Phoenix says Coldkiller X, but he seems to have lost it. Payne presents [Crime Photo 2] showing a bottle of that very medicine in the victim's hand, and [Coldkiller X] with Phoenix's fingerprints on it. II. What Really Happened - The truth is... I went because he called me. - He was in the Pharmacology Department, so we agreed to meet at 2:45 behind that building. - We talked for a bit, and then at around 3:00, we split up. - Then later when I went back, I found him lying there. - I'd been taking Coldkiller X for the last 2 or 3 days... - But I lost my bottle of it around lunchtime on the day of the accident. Press the second statement. He will explain that class ends at 2:45. Press further and ask about the Pharmacology department. Phoenix testifies that the students in that department work with strange machines that run on high voltage. Press the sixth statement to ask what Phoenix did for lunch that day. He says he had lunch with Dollie, his girlfriend. The judge speaks! He says that Phoenix's testimony cannot be trusted, and that the only remaining mystery is how the murder was committed. Choose "Establish method of murder" and present [Crime Photo 1]. Select the end of the dangling electrical cable and present that to the court. Payne now says that they have irrefutable proof that Phoenix is the murderer. The leather jacket the victim was wearing has his palmprint on the chest, meaning that Phoenix pushed the victim into the cable. III. When I Pushed the Victim - That guy... He was talking bad about Dollie... - I lost my temper and gave him a shove! - At that moment, I heard some kind of loud noise... - A little while after I left, I started to get worried. - So I went back. But h-he was just laying there, d-dead! Press the third statement. Phoenix will say he doesn't know what the noise was. Ask for more detail, and he will say that the victim must have landed on his cheap, plastic umbrella. He thinks the crack he heard was the umbrella breaking. Tell the judge that the testimony is important to have Phoenix add a new line to his testimony: - After I shoved him, he... He fell down on top of his cheap umbrella. Press the new statement to discover that the umbrella was still under the victim when Phoenix left. Return to the statement and present [Crime Photo 1] to show that the umbrella was nowhere near the victim at the time of the crime. The [Umbrella] will be added to the court record. [Phoenix's Testimony] will be added to the court record. Winston Payne's not through yet! He says that he has another witness to call: Dahlia Hawthorne! Court is adjourned for a 20-minute recess. ------------------------ Defendant's Lounge ------------------------ Mia asks Phoenix how he and "Dollie" met. He says they met in the courthouse one day and that she is the love of his life. [Dahlia's Present], a small bottle on a pendant, is entered into the Court Record. Mia will ask the exact date they met - August 27th. [Newspaper Clipping] is added to the court record. The clipping talks about a murder on that date, and a 19-year- old college student who was questioned at the time. Mia thinks there is a relationship between the two cases. 1.2: Trial +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Testimony: Dahlia Hawthorne +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I. What I Witnessed - I had been planning to go back to Feenie's place after class was over. - Feenie and Dougie... They were talking behind the building. - Then suddenly...Dougie got all wobbly and just collapsed. - That's when Feenie noticed that I was there. - I went to go and find some other students and they called the authorities. Press the third statement. Dahlia says that "Feenie" never touched the victim. Choose to "show contradiction" and point out that there is a palm print on the victim's jacket as well as Phoenix's own testimony that he shoved the victim. She will ask to revise her testimony. - Um, actually, I didn't see the moment he pushed Dougie. - It didn't look like they were fighting, and I didn't hear any noise either. Present [Phoenix's Testimony] at the second revision. He had testified about a loud noise when he pushed Doug, so why didn't she hear it? She claims that she did not hear the noise because she had headphones on and was listening to music. She says that she's afraid of the thunder, and since there was thunder and lightning she had put the headphones on to block out the sound. Choose "There was lightning" to suggest that the victim may have been struck by a bolt of lightning. Payne counters with the fact that there were no lightning strikes at that location on that day. Instead, he offers an affadavit signed by the pharmacology students in the lab. They stated that the lab lost power at 3:00 PM, which fits the time of death. Doug Swallow MUST have died from touching that severed cable! [Students' Testimony] is added to the Court Record. The judge wants to know who or what caused the brittle cable to break. Present Phoenix Wright's profile. The defense believes that Phoenix's shove broke the cable. The broken umbrella is by the far electrical pole, indicating where the victim fell after being shoved. In [Crime Photo 1] the umbrella is far away from the body, indicating that the cable could not have electrocuted him immediately after the shove. Dahlia speaks up though and asks to offer more testimony. II. What I Witnessed, Part 2. - The truth is... Feenie pushed him twice. - The first time was into the electrical pole. That's when the cable broke. - Then Dougie tried his best to run away from him... - But Feenie caught up and crashed into him from behind. - The cable snapping, and Dougie being electrocuted -- it all occured in less than a minute. Pressing her won't get you anywhere. Present [Crime Photo 2] at her final statement. Mia will point out that there is actually a 10-minute interval between the cable snapping and the time of the electrocution. The judge will ask you who you think the real murderer is. Present Dahlia Hawthorne's profile. She breaks down in tears, and Phoenix gallantly tries to protect her by asking the judge to strike the defense's statements from the record. Fortunately, Mr. Grossberg arrives with a new piece of evidence - the [Police Report] of the incident in Mia's newspaper clipping! Check it out before moving on. It names Dahlia as a suspect in the murder, and it says the victim in that case was poisoned. The victim also happened to be Mia's boyfriend... The defense suggests that Dahlia had a good reason to kill Dougie and pin the murder on Pheonix. One final round of testimony seems to be in order... III. How I Met My Feenie - I first met my darling Feenie eight months ago. - It's like we were destined to meet in this very courthouse's basement reading room. - The moment our eyes met, my heart skipped a beat. - We've been going out ever since that fateful day. - We're so lovey-wuvey we literally make people sick! It's just jealousy, I think... Press the second statement. Ask for more detail and she adds this: - I had come to this courthouse to do some research for a paper I was writing. Present the [Police Report] to show that lil ol' Dahlia wasn't there to write a research paper, but to poison someone! But she has more to say about the situation. IV. The Poisoning - I met the lawyer who was poisoned to discuss something in the cafeteria that day. - I left my seat for just a moment, and that's when it happened! - From what I heard, it was a liquid poison that is lethal at just two tea- spoons. - Not only that, I heard it was a very special kind of poison. - So you see, I'm innocent! I wouldn't even know where to get a poison like that! Present Doug Swallow's profile at the last statement. Dahlia knew just where to get a poison like that - at the Pharmacology lab! She still insists that she could not have done it because she didn't have a container for the poison. Present [Dahlia's Present]. Phoenix will object again. Select "Because of the necklace" as the true reason Dahlia is dating him. Phoenix, true to his nature, does something completely boneheaded - he runs away and literally eats the necklace. The prosecution believes that means there was no poison in the necklace. However, Phoenix has just a little more to say. The day he met the victim, he was told that Dahlia had stolen poison from the lab eight months before. Doug also told him that she had taken some poison last night as well. When asked who she wanted to kill, present Phoenix Wright's profile. Dahlia finally shows her true colors, but there doesn't appear to be enough evidence. The judge offers Mia a chance to present ONE piece of evidence. Present the [Coldkiller X] bottle. Mia says that the poison must be in the cold medicine since Dahlia knew Phoenix was using it for his cold. Also, since other people were on their way to the scene she tried to get rid of the evidence by making someone else - in this case, Doug's corpse - hold it in case she was searched. Finally, Dahlia accepts that she's been beaten, and the judge hands down his verdict of Not Guilty! ======================================== EPISODE TWO: THE STOLEN TURNABOUT ======================================== |
