In the first day you get your new foal from your grandad you can start training straight
away by :

buy some carrots
stroke and give the foal a carrot
exit the game and keep doing it until his confidence is up by 1 and a half then you can start training!

When you say exit the game do you mean turn the ds off then turn it back on ????
