Befor WILL became apart of the elite 4 he trained in the phsychic house with all the physcics every where and he was the 1 person to pass the phychic house so he became part of the elite 4.

And Before KOGA became part of the elite 4 he was a ninja/poison gym leader he bacame gym leader because bikers raid the place and warden slopoke lost in pokemon battle and KOGA steped in and faught and won then lance saw and put him the elite 4 in 2 months

Also Before BRUNO was elite 4 he he trained with all fighting type gyms and when he won all they allowed him to go to the elite 4 and he was the 2 longest elite 4 member

But there was KAREN she was the granddaughter of former elite 4 AGATHA KAREN watched her grandma get beat by red and blue so when agatha retired of old age KAREN took place for her and she was the elite 4 member(KAREN's grandma was dating professor OAK)

And thre was lance before lance became part of the elite 4 he was best friends with clair and when lance grew about 10 when he went on his journey he found 2 eggs (2 driatini's) but he started off with a new born driatini him and driatini were good friends. Then he fell and found a fossil (areodactyle) so he kept it when he found clair (in dragon den) they battled but not noticed that CLAIRS grandpa was watching he had alot of dragon type so lance battled clairs grandpa and he became champ of the elite 4
