At the end of Mt.Silver, a boy in red clothes stands...looking out at the sheet of white
snow...or whatever it is. Meet the trainer who kicked out Team Rocket out of Kanto and
defeated the Champion, Blue 3 years ago.
PKMN Trainer Red:
Item: Light Ball
Static - Contact with the Pokemon may cause paralysis.
Review: As you can see, Red's Pikachu is very similar to Ash's Pikachu. It knows Volt Tackle that
will do massive damage to the opponent, but it has a recoil effect. Along with that, it
knows Iron Tail for Defense reduction, Thunderbolt for a move in case it can't use Volt
Tackle anymore, and Quick Attack for a finisher. Note that it has not evolved and that
Pikachus have low defense, so *cough* I recommend Earthquake if you don't want to get it's
ability to take into effect.
Shell Armor - The Pokemon is protected against critical hits.
Review: Don't expect to get lucky against this Lapras. It's ability blocks critical hits. Lapras
can be just as annoying as Pikachu. It can use Psychic to lower down your Pokemon's
Special Defense so it can do more damage with Brine, Blizzard, and Psychic itself. Body
Slam may paralyze your Pokemon. Fighting Type and/or Electric Type moves are recommended
Thick Fat - Raises resistance to Fire-type and Ice-type moves.
Review: Snorlax is kind of like Lapras. It has Shadow Ball to lower the opponent's Special Defense
along with Crunch to lower the Defense. Then, it can use it's powerful moves, Blizzard and
Giga Impact to KO the opponent easily. Use Fighting Type Moves on this big Pokemon.
Overgrow - Powers up Grass Type Moves in a pinch
Review: Venusaur can poison you with Sludge Bomb, make your Pokemon get a Sleep status with Sleep
Powder, use Giga Drain to drain your Pokemon's HP and gain HP itself, or use Frenzy Plant
to try to finish you off. IT is a strong moves. Use Fire Type Moves here.
Blaze - Powers up Fire Type Moves in a pinch
Review: Charizard can do a pretty good amount of damage with Dragon Pulse and Air Slash. Then it
has Fire Blitz and Blast Burn which are very powerful Fire Type moves. Flare Blitz has a
recoil and Blast Burn makes the user rest for one turn. Electric Type Moves are
Torrent - Powers up Water Type Moves in a pinch
Review: Blastoise has Flash Cannon to lower your Pokemon's Special Defense...not good. Blizzard
and Focus Blast do a ton of damage, though they miss the target sometimes. Hydro Cannon
has a base power of 150, but the user must rest one turn after it is used. Electric Type
Pokemon are recommended here.
-Red's Anime counterpart is Ash Ketchum
-Ash had Pikachu, Snorlax, Lapras, and Charizard at one point including Venusaur's and
Blastoise's 1st evolution form, Squirtle and Bulbasaur.
-(Not really a fun fact) If Red had to get to the top of Mt. Silver the way you did with
Rock Climb, he wouldn't be able to reach the area where you meet him because he doesn't
have a Pokemon with him with that HM Move. He can't even get rid Rock Climb since the only
way to delete it is to visit the Move Deleter in Blackthorn City.
