Walkthrough - EV Training Semi-Full GuideWell lets begin, yes i know a few already know most of this but ill just put it up just for starter trainers who wish to learn a bit into this. Hmm usually HG is not my field since i stick to Platinum and not here but anyways, Lets begin with the basics.... What is a EV point it simply stands for effort value which certain pokemon give in a certin stat, for example a Starly gives one effort value(otherwise known as ev points) in speed lets say you battle one starly you get one ev point in speed. Pretty simple, so now we know that a pokemon gives out ev points in different stats, for further info check out serebii in the pokedex to know what pokemon gives what points. Exactly what do ev points do simple, if they gain 4 ev points in one stat thats one point extra in that stat giving a total of around 30 something ponts in that stat once they reach 100, pretty cool huh OK the basics are over lets begin with the somewhat harder part,a pokemon can gain up to 510 ev points but a pokemon cant get 510 ev points in just one stat, it must go to two different stats, lets say you ev train in speed and attack that would be 252 in speed and 252 in attack but, what about the extra 4 points well they usually end up in hp so you shouldnt worry. You can also do spreads such as 255 in hp, 128 in Attack, etc. but thats a bit more complicated. But thats too much work, how can you make this easier well ill tell you how, remeber the vitamins if you give ten vitamins lets say iron you get 100 fast, although a bit expensive defense ev points meaning you would have to battle a few more geodudes (in this case) to give the ev points you need. Its still hard! but the power items are more than handy. A power item(power anklet, power brace, etc.) are more than just effective, they give an extra four ev points in a certain stat(depends what power item it is) that makes it much more easier. Even so its still a bit hard, PKRS is here to save you! Not only does it double the ev points already earned it can be infected and stored in your box so you can spread it to more pokemon. Exactly how does it work simple, the equation is as follows (x+4)2 which means: x is the ev points a poke normally gives the +4 being the extra points that the power items give and the times 2 being the number you multiply everything by because of the pkrs So lets say you battle a starly, it gives one ev point in speed but if you have a power item youll get 5 ev points in speed and if you have pkrs you'll get 10 evs in speed. IV's Well individual values(iv for short) are numbers ranging from 0-31 which each pokemon has assigned instantly when it is either caught or bred but they can never be changed so lets say that your Salamence has 31 in sp.atk and 0 in atk meaning that even if you ev trained in attack it wont go up to max because it has 0 ivs in that stat. There is one way to change them but thats through a AR device which i dont reccomend cause it may crash your game. Other than that the only way to get good ivs is either through RNG'ing or just simply hatching eggs, which will on most occasions give you in between 20-30 ivs which is good so dont worry about it. There is also a way to control these with the power items in Soul Silver and Heart Gold, depending on the power item you can get your baby pokemon to inherit the Ivs on the certain stat depending on the item. Even so it doesnt really affect that much so dont worry so much about it. Natures Natures is something that helps a lot in ev training, there are certain natures that boost up attack but lower speed, so on,here they are: Attack Beneficial natures Adamant: Ups attack lowers Special Attack Lonely:Ups attack lowers Defense Naughty:Ups attck lowers Sp.Def Brave:Ups attack lowers speed Defense Beneficial natures Bold:Ups Defense lowers attack Relaxed:Ups defense lowers speed Impish:Ups defense lowers Sp.Attack Lax:Ups defense lowers Sp.Def Speed Beneficial natures Timid:Ups speed lowers Attack Hasty:Ups speed lowers Defense Jolly:Ups speed lowers Sp.Atk Naive:Ups speed lowers Sp.Def Sp.Attack Beneficial natures Modest:Ups sp.atk lowers Attack Mild:Ups sp.atk lowers Defense Quiet:Ups sp.atk lowers Speed Rash:Ups sp.atk lowers Sp.Def Sp.Defense Beneficial natures: Calm:Ups sp.def lowers Attack Gentle:Ups sp.def lowers Defense Sassy:Ups sp.def lowers Speed Careful:Ups sp.def lowers Sp.Atk There are many natures that work with some pokemon but there are some which are considered neutral because they dont boost up anything.... Bashful,Quirky,Hardy,Docile and Serious. Well i guess thats all there is to ev training but if you have any questions ask away and ill try to clarify it. Thanks for your attention ^-^ |
