I know how to evolve. But i'd like to say that your character and your partner will not be able to evolve you will learn that once you go to the sky tower but die later and then are brought back to life and go on an exploration and find out you nor your partner cant evolve for some reason.
STEPS:
1. Go to the map (where you can set out on an exploration)
2.(you have to have already explored it)Go to Luminous Spring
3.There you can click evolve or info if you would like some expainations
4.Click evolve and it will give you a list of pokemon that are ready to be evolved(their level is high enough)
5.Once you select your pokemon,it will tell you what it will evolve into,you can either accept or decline.
NOW YOU'RE READY TO EVOLVE!!!

PS you can continually go into the Luminous Spring again and again in (in game time) one day
