You don't have to do that. You can recruit him anytime it doesn't make a difference.
also you need to have two or more stars for certain pokemon.

I'm not entirely sure about RECRUITING Manaphy, I don't remember, but you need to beat
Darkrai and at some point when you go to Treasure Town the Ursarings will come to you and
talk about Luminous Spring. Again, I'm not sure about the Manaphy, I'll be finding out
soon, but for now just trust c-1998.

If you recruit manaphy, the day after i think, he'll tell you of a place that has a lot of
gummies. it's called gummi resort i think. well anyway at the end you can get the wonder
gummi. also to tell you this. a wonder mail generator is online at apointlessplace.net
ot com. you can make your own wondermail there.

Cresellia will take you to him. stock up on heal seeds and revival seeds. you will fall
asleep against him in his monster house. keep cresellia alive or your booted out. also
get him paralyzed. or stunned. if stunned, focus on the other pokemon with him.

forget Ominous Wind. It fainted Cresselia in 1 hit. She wasted all my Reviver Seeds. But I
could use the IQ Skill Bodyguard, though.

Go in the guild over and over for loudred to get reviver seeds. buy 3 stun seeds. give
your partner insomniscope have the non-sleeper IQ, put away orbs since there useless that
time. keep darkrai stunned and take out his other pokemon. i defeated him with the
strategy. came in with 18 reviver seeds came out with 5. follow this and you have an
even chance.
