Hi, my name is Ryan aka Sonictrainer and this is the fourth guide I’ve posted
online and the first guide I’ve ever done for a Pokémon game. I made this
guide to so people wouldn’t have to take the Personality Quiz 100 times before
getting the starters they wanted.
If you look in the Prima Guide at the Personality Quiz Questions and answers,
you’ll notice on other side the divider lines are in the wrong place, giving
certain questions the wrong choices.

1. Background Info
---------------------------------------------
Pokémon or Pocket Monsters is a popular RPG that started in 1996. The game is
based on creatures with different abilities that a human could use to conquer
other humans to prove who is the best aka Pokémon Masters. Overtime, spinoff
versions of Pokémon were made that are somewhat similar to the main RPG games.
Mystery Dungeon is one of the more popular ones. This is the first time an
expansion has been added to a spinoff version though.
2. Starter/Partner Pokémon Info
--------------------------------------------
Unlike in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness, there are 5 new
starters that can be chosen and well as a few new partner Pokémon.
The Starter you get through the personality quiz is the main character you can
control in the main game.

Once you’ve obtained the starter Pokémon from the Personality Quiz, you can
choose your partner, which is another Pokémon who will aid you in every
dungeon. However, they cannot be the same type as your starter. Also, watch
your partner’s back in the dungeons, because if they get defeated, you get
defeated.

3. How the Quiz Works
------------------------------------------------
Like the last Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, the Personality Quiz is based on
8 random questions (or more) with each answer adding points to a certain
nature. Each nature represents a Starter Pokémon with a specific gender as
shown in the following chart.

In total, there are 16 different natures: Brave, Bold, Calm, Docile, Hardy,
Hasty, Impish, Jolly, Lonely, Naïve, Quiet, Quirky, Rash, Relaxed, Sassy, and
Timid. Depending on the gender and nature, you can get the Pokémon you want.
When you first start the Quiz, this will always be the first question:

Although it seems like this question is useless since it doesn’t raise any
nature points, it will do this: If you choose “Yes” to this question you will
most likely get questions that will increase your chances of becoming one of
the newly added Starter Pokémon (Vulpix, Eevee, Phanpy, Skitty, Shinx, and
Riolu). Also, your chances of recruiting Pokémon into your Team will be higher.
Besides the first question and last question (which asks about gender) all the
other questions are random.

Player P picked “Totally!” So now their Brave Score is 2, their Relaxed score

Now, their potential starter is Pikachu, Charmander, Riolu, or Totodile since
both Brave and Sassy have the same score.
In the event the score is tied towards the end, an extra question will be
added to break the tie.

Rash was their highest score and they chose female.
Note: Right now, I’m not sure if there’s any significant difference between
picking a boy or girl version of the Pokémon you want. If there is, let me
know. However, be aware that some of the starters are only available to one
gender (Vulpix, Eevee, Phanpy, Skitty, Shinx, and Riolu).
