| ITEMS | HP Up |
`-------| Rare Candy |
| Ultra Ball |
| Fresh Water |
| Lax Incense |
| Dubious Disc |
| Dawn Stone |
'-----------------'
To the north of the Fight Area is Route 225.
This a surprisingly long and complicated Route that is much larger than you
would at first think. There are also some Pokemon that you haven't encountered
before here, such as Raticate and Fearow.
To start things off, there's an HP Up atop a cliff to the west of the
entrance, accessable by using Rock Climb.
Head north, up to the three Trainers (which you can choose to engage in either
Single- or Double-battle, depending on which direction the northwest one is
facing). You can snag yourself a Rare Candy by using Cut on the bushes to the
east of the three Trainers.
Now, if you have Surf, take the north route and Surf across the water and then
climb the set of steps you find there, crossing the bridge over. Otherwise, go
west, and make your way to where there you just take a set of steps down and
there's another to the south of you. You can climb the steps to the south and
cross the bridge to pick up an Ultra Ball, otherwise just proceed to head
east, under the bridge, and climbing the set of steps up to where you can take
another bridge north.
Make your way across the mess of bridges, past two Trainers (picking up a
Revive as you go), until you get to a house. Inside of the house, a Worker
will give you a Fresh Water (umm, ok?). There's also a Lax Incense to the
west of his house, behind some bushes that you can Cut down.
Up on the cliff, you can Surf across the water to reach a Dubious Disc.
Keep following the path (you can save a few encounters if you have Cut), which
is pretty straightforward, until you reach a large field of grass with some
rocks that you can use Rock Climb on and a sign to the east. Use Rock Climb to
scale the rocks if you have it and you'll enter a Trainer fight against the
Dragon Tamer. After beating him, pick up a second Dawn Stone.
Continue heading east, past the sign, and you'll reach the Survival Area.

| ITEMS | TM42 (Facade) |
`-------'-----------------'
Not really much to see or do here for now. There's a Pokemon Center to heal
your Pokemon, and a Poke Mart to buy some supplies at. You can talk to the
Black Belt inside of the house on the bottom of the cliffs and he'll give you
TM42 (Facade), but that's pretty much it. Make your way east to Route 226.

| ITEMS | Carbos |
`-------| Lagging Tail |
| TM53 (Energy |
| Ball) |
'-----------------'
Use Rock Climb to the north of the entrance and you'll be able to take a path
to a secret elevated part of the Survival Area with a lone house. Inside is a
Hiker, although I haven't quite figured out what he does yet.
Rock Climb on the rocks to the west and fight the Ace Trainer if you want.
You can use Rock Climb on the northern rocks to go up to some berries, but
otherwise Rock Climb down the eastern cliff. Go east and there will be two
more choices of where to Rock Climb. Taking the southern path will lead you to
a Carbos. Taking the northern path will lead you to a field of tall grass,
some Trainers, and a Lagging Tail to your left.
At the Trainers, taking the eastern-most path with Rock Climb will lead you to
a small ledge with TM53 (Energy Ball) on it. Using Rock Climb on the first set
of rocks will lead you down closer to the bottom, near the shore. Use Surf and
sail east until you reach a house on a small island. Inside of the house,
speak with the man there, and he apparently appears to be multi-lingual. After
speaking to him once, speak with him again and he will offer to trade you a
Magikarp for a Finneon.
A PP Up is hidden behind the house. Use the Dowsing Machine to find it.
Sailing the southern west route will lead you to a dead end with a Trainer.
Taking the northern west route will bring you to a field of tall grass with a
signpost, and a choice: head north to Route 227 and Stark Mountain, or east to
Route 228, Route 229, and the Resort Area.

| ITEMS | Charcoal |
`-------| Zinc |
'-----------------'
There is falling soot and ash all over the Route thanks to the nearby volcano
in Stark Mountain. This Route will require you to do a little bit of bike
jumping and avoid falling down ledges.
Cross the first ramp over to the Elite Trainer, then cross the next ramp over
to the Pokemon Ranger. Jump down the ledge to the left and you'll eventually
see Rival and Crasher Wake (from Pastoria City). They'll say some stuff about
Stark Mountain, and will then leave in seperate directions. (Rival also says
something about 21 wins in the Battle Tower.)
Inside of the house that they were near, talk to the old lady and answer Yes
to her question to restore your Pokemon's HP.
Now, climb the steps and cross the narrow bike bridge over to the other side
and you'll find the person with red hair that you saw with Rival when you
first boarded the northeast island, who reveals his name as Buck. He'll then
head up to Stark Mountain.
Head a little bit west, to the patch of grass. If you have it, use Rock Climb
to go down to the bottom of the cliff, near a lake and a small patch of grass.
Head east down there and you'll find Charcoal, which is used to power up Fire-
type attacks. Climb back up the rocks and then take the narrow bike bridge
over to a Trainer and a Zinc.
Back at the patch of grass, go northeast, jump down the two ledges to the
Black Belt, then keep heading north to reach the outside of Stark Mountain.

| ITEMS | Life Orb |
`-------| Ether |
'-----------------'
At the foot of Stark Mountain, you can either climb stairs or use Rock Climb
on some rocks to the west. Climbing the rocks will lead you to a Trainer and
another set of rocks to climb down. Climb them down, and then climb up the
rocks nearby to reach a Life Orb. Climb back down the rocks and you can get
back to Route 227 if you jump down one of the ledges (there's a Protein hidden
in the rock that you can reach by taking the left ledge), or you can just Rock
Climb your way back to where you were.
Anyway, back at the foot, climb the steps and you'll be at a field of tall
grass. In the northeast corner of it is an Ether. The entrance to Stark
Mountain is to the west.

| ITEMS | Escape Rope |
`-------| PP Up |
| Full Restore |
'-----------------'
Start by using Rock Smash on the rock, and then using Strength to push the
boulder two tiles to the east, and then push it north, down the steps.
Push the western boulder two tiles to the west and then go around to get an
Escape Rope.
At the eastern set of three rocks, push both the north and south boulder one
tile to the east, then push the middle boulder one tile either north or south.
Climb the southern steps up to find a PP Up, turn around and keep going north.
Climb up the steps, push the boulder all the way to the east, and make your
way over to the west side of the room. Climb up the steps, grab the Burn Heal
in the corner, and use Rock Smash to smash the rock blocking your path. Climb
up the steps, and then push the boulder to your right east, but not all the
way (make sure it doesn't cover or go past the steps on the other side). Climb
up the steps, then east, down the steps, over to the Full Restore.
Now, go back to the west, and up the stairs to Rival. He'll say something
about Buck, the Battle Tower, and the Battle Zone. Proceed deeper into the
cave, and into the next room, where you'll notice that the camera is zoomed
out. Go north a little bit, and you'll find Buck, who will say some stuff and
then join your party.

.' PARTNER `.__________________________
| Pokemon Trainer Buck )
`-.--------------.-----------.--------<
| Claydol | PSY / GRD | L58 | |
`--------------'-----------'-----'---'
His Claydol is rather sturdy and should be able to take a hit or two. It knows
Psychic, Ancientpower, and Light Screen (quite possibly Reflect, too, although
I never saw it use it). One thing to keep in mind while you're in the fight
with Buck's Claydol: use Earthquake! Since Claydol has the ability Levitate,
Ground-type attacks won't affect Claydol, so you'll effectively inflict damage
on your adversaries alone and not your own partner! Quite helpful, because a
lot of the Pokemon in the area are weak to Ground-type attacks. And, as always
with Partners, your Pokemon will be fully restored after each fight.
While you have Buck in your party, you will be unable to use Rock Climb to
access ledges and other areas. You'll have to investigate this place later -
without Buck - if you want to snag all of the goodies here.

| ITEMS | TM50 (Overheat) |
`-------| Calcium |
| Iron Ball |
| Max Revive |
| Ultra Ball |
| Max Elixir |
'-----------------'
Now, this place is very large. There are Trainers and items scattered all
around. I will try to do my best to list the locations of all of them, but
your best bet is to just kind of do some exploring on your own. Just so you
know, your destination should be directly north of the door that you entered
from, although you will have to do a lot of manuevering to the west in order
to get there.
There is nothing waiting for you in the southwest corner, so don't even bother
going there. In the northwest corner, which is accessable from the lower-
level, you can move a boulder using Strength and fight the two Ace Trainers
(either in a Double Battle, or in a Single Battle if you talk to them
individually) that are guarding TM50 (Overheat) to the south.
A Calcium can be found in the middle area, in a trench, to the north of the
Black Belt and Birdkeeper. In the very southeast corner, past the two
Psychics, you can find an Iron Ball by walking down the steps and running to
the west in the trench there.
In the northeastern corner, head to the east until you reach the middle area.
Fight the Veteran and Dragon Tamer (either in a Double or Single Battle,
depending on how you engage them), then proceed up the stairs. To your left,
you will find a Max Revive.
Back at the northeastern corner, go a little bit south, then west. Climb up to
the upper level, and then go northwest and back down to the lower level,
fighting the two Ace Trainers. To the west of them, use Rock Smash and
continue westward, climbing up the stairs to the south and fighting the Dragon
Tamer and Black Belt in your way. Head west, around the parameter of the room,
until you reach some stairs leading down into a trench. Follow the trench
east, using Strength to move the boulder, and then up the stairs into a cave.
As you arrive, Buck will say some stuff, and then go into the cave. Follow him
inside, and he will then take some rock thing and leave. Now would be a great
time to use an Escape Rope!
Afterwards, return to the Survival Area and talk to Buck in the house to the
west of the Pokemon Center. He'll run off again, back to Stark Mountain, to
check out results of the earthquake that happened up there.
Make your way past the first part of the dungeon, to the very large room with
the zoomed out camera. You can now use Rock Climb to access shortcuts and more
items, so use that to make haste to the northern part of the cave, where the
rear cave was. Before doing so, you might want to pick up an Ultra Ball on a
large elevated area in the middle of the place (by the Birdkeeper and Black
Belt), and pick up a Max Elixir down a pit somewhere else in the area.
Inside of the room, in the center of the circle of rocks that you might have
noticed earlier, will be one big, ugly Heatran looking at you.

|\ LEGENDARY POKEMON `~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\
`*\--------------|-----------|-----|---/#|
|*| Heatran | FIR / STL | L70 |M/F|#|
|*/--------------|-----------|-----|---\#|
`'^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^'^^^^^^^^^^^'^^^^^'^^^^'`
Yes, Heatran can be either Male or Female, although it doesn't really matter
since it can't breed with anything, so take your pick. Either way, it's ugly!
Ha ha, sorry. Heatran is one pretty rough Level 70 Legendary Pokemon. It is
highly susceptible to Ground-type attacks, and Water- or Fighting-type attacks
will also be effective at removing its health. It knows Lava Plume, Fire Spin,
Scary Face, and Iron Head. Be prepared to have your active Pokemon unable to
switch, because Fire Spin will lock it in its place, preventing you from
switching out. Lava Plume and Iron Head will both be very strong attacks, so
be weary! Try to inflict Sleep or Paralysis upon it, whittle its health away
(taking care not to knock it out), then chuck Dusk Balls at it until you catch
it.
Unfortunately, from what I've seen, nothing exciting or dramatic happens after
catching Heatran. At least you get the pride of catching something big and
nasty like that! Oh yeah, and you can use it in battle, too.
