Walkthrough - Oreburgh GymWelcome back! Or maybe you just decided to check this section for the Orebrugh guide, anyways let's get started! After you beat your rival, Mike we'll refer to him as, head on to Oreburgh City. The gym isn't open yet, so head south to the Orebrugh Mine. You'll find Roark, the gym leader, here. Talk to him and he'll demonstrate the move Rock Smash and head over to the Gym. Exit the mine, you can use an Escape Rope you can get in the mine or leave normally. At the gym you can bypass or fight the trainers. I suggest fighting them to gain experience. Plus you'll need to battle as many trainers as you can. You'll need to see all 150 Sinnoh pokemon to get the National Dex. But I'll cover that later in my guide. Roark has a Geodude, Onix, and Cranidos. They range from 12-14, Cranidos being the strongest. This next part won't apply for those who got all three starters in some way. So let's start with Chimchar. If you chose this fire type, evolve it! As stated in my intro guide, it learns a good fighting move and eliminates its rock weakness when it evolves. If you evolved into Monferno, use it throughout this gym. If you chose Piplup or Turtwig, I won't expect you evolved it. Use Bubble for Piplup and level up Turtwig to lv.13 or more so you can use Razor Leaf. This gym should be a breeze. Once you get your badge and TM, exit and head back to Jubilife City. Go north and approach Prof. Rowan. PREPARE FOR A DOUBLE BATTLE. quickly take care of these Galactic Grunts and move on. I'll tell all trainers now. Only have three to four pokemon to train regularly in battle! If you have more, you may not have the appropriate levels to beat the Elite Four. More pokemon to train means lower levels overall! So keep a minimum on four until you get Dialga or Palkia. They are strong enough at lower levels that you won't need to train them often. I suggest having your starter, Starly, and Shinx at this point. If you have all three starters, stick with those and maybe train a Starly or just have one on hand. You can teach it Fly later on. Also don't teach any of your battle pokemon ANY HMs! Catch a Bidoof or Geodude at this point to teach all your HMs to. You'll never use these pokemon in battle except for decoys most likely. This is what we call HM Slaves. HM Slaves can learn nearly all HMs and that's all you use them for. Bibarel is a great HM Slave. Don't waste time evolving your Bidoof, just catch a Bibarel once you encounter one, which shouldn't be long. The only HMs you should teach your battle pokemon are Fly, Waterfall, and Strength. The others should be left to your HM slaves. Good thing you have those two-three extra slots in your party! Now back to the game. Follow the route upwards, make sure you have Rock Smash ready. Remember what I said about HM slaves. It's pretty straightforward. Head to Floaroma Town. If you notice to the east, there will be Galactic Grunts in the way. Head back to Floaroma Town and go north to the flower field. Beat the Grunts there and head back to the Windworks. Don't forget to pick up the key. Just clear this stage and move on. You can also catch the ghost/flying type Drifloon on Fridays. I don't suggest doing that though unless you just want to have one in your pokedex as "caught". Follow the path while training your pokemon along the way. My rule for training pokemon is to set a level goal. I usually use my starter pokemon for this(since it's usually the highest level). So let's say my starter was lv.17 at this point. If it had a little amount of experience to gain to the next level, I would train it to lv.18. Then I would stop at this point to train all my other battle pokemon to lv.18. This keeps the levels even, however this is just a suggestion. Even a lv.70 starter can fail at the Elite Four, so its better to have multiple, equally leveled pokemon(around lv.55). But I will get into that later on in my guide. So head for Eterna Forest. You'll have to join up with Cheryll. All battles will be double until you exit this area. There will be no EXP split after battles, so don't worry. Plus all your pokemon are healed fully after all battles while with a partner. So take this time to train weaker pokemon if you have to, at this point you shouldn't though. After you near the exit of the forest, Cheryll leaves says goodbye and heads off. Thank god! THAT DARN CHANSEY! Now on to Eterna City! Until my next guide. I will cover Eterna Gym and up to Veilstone in the next section. Farewell for now! |
