This is just a quick description of the game. For my Platinum walkthrough, I will cover
just the gyms and new Battle Frontier area. This is an opinionated section, so please
don't post anything you think may be wrong. Let's get started.
Welcome to Pokemon Platinum! The third installment to the 4th gen games adds a few new
changes to the game. One noticeable change is the scenery. The main characters have a
change of clothing to match the colder weather in Sinnoh. You'll even notice some snow
around Twinleaf Town! The towns and cities were all revamped in some way. Its really cool
what they've done with the physical changes.
Another new cool addition is the sprites and animations. The Sinnoh Dex pokemon all got
new sprites, they are way cooler than their D/P sprites. They even have better back
animations! When you send out a pokemon from your side, you'll see a cool back animation
unlike in D/P. Also Elite Four and Gym Leaders have animations! Now you'll see Gym Leaders
do a little motion before they send out their pokemon. Your rival also has a pretty funny
animation.
Some new pokemon additions. If you haven't heard, there are 7 new forms of pokemon.
Giratina's Origin Form, Shaymin's Sky Form, and Rotom's 5 new forms. Giratina's Origin
form offers inverted offensive and defensive base stats and gains the ability Levitate
giving full immunity to ground moves. Shaymin's Sky Form gains an extra Flying type and
can learn the move Air Slash. While its defensive stats are lowered, its Special Attack
and Speed are greatly increased. Rotom retains it's Ghost/Electric type and Levitate
ability, but it can have different moves per form. This includes Air Slash, Blizzard,
Overheat, Leaf Storm, and Hydro Pump. The new forms all have the same base stats which
include heightened stats and reduced speed. Base HP remains the same on all forms.
Other pokemon changes include a few things. Rotom can now be caught before the National
Dex. Thats cool if you need a solid electric type. Cynthia also gives you a Togepi egg to
hatch. Porygon can also be obtained somewhere in Veilstone City. Eevee can also be given
from Bebe before the National Dex. And one more thing. Regigigas is now Lv.1 in Platinum!
So it would be really hard to weaken since any one shot can kill it. You still need the
three regis to access it, sadly.
Also the Elite Four got some new, cooler pokemon. While their levels may be lower from
D/P, you'll have a lot more fun playing against their new teams. All of E4 just have
cooler teams. After the E4, you can access the new Battle Frontier. Like in Emerald, you
can use move tutor to teach your pokemon some really awesome moves. Like Electivire can
learn Magnet Rise through move tutor and every dragon type can learn Outrage. Like Woah!
So this is just a quick game description and we all look forward to any next installment
of the pokemon series, I'm sure of it!
