Walkthrough I just want to say right now that this guide contains spoilers. 3A. Student 3A1. The Adventure begins -Ranger School- As in most Pokemon games, you will start by choosing your gender. Name entry happens later. Then you are immediately forced to capture a very easy pikachu. It shouldn't take too long. Then a man named Kaplan announces that you have become a member of the inscrutable Team School and that together you shall rule the world. Then Ms. April decides to come in and ruin your fun. She introduces herself as your teacher and takes you to the school's main building. Once there you get to name your character. If you hit enter without doing anything, your name is registered as Kellyn if you're a boy or Kate if you're a girl. After Ms. April explains the menu and top screen, Ms. April asks a girl named Rhythmi to give you a tour. You get control of yourself after this. Talk to your fellow students, then go outside. Don't expect Keith to learn your name right away. Our first stop is the class right across from here. Go inside and speak to everyone. The teacher introduces himself as Mr. Kincaid and gives you a lecture on not running in the hallways. Talk to the students and then leave. Now go up past the classrooms to the door on the far right. This is the staff room. Talk to Ms. April then go say hi to the principal, Mr. Lamont Splendidocious. I'll just call him "Lamont" because his full name takes too long to type. Now leave once more. Next it's time to check out the library, so don't get too bored. Speak to the girl, then Ponte (the conflicted marshmallow boy) and Isaac. Wow he's smart. Since you met everyone, time to leave. Go up the right set of stairs in the back of the hallway, since Rhythmi won't let you take the left ones. Speak to Janice the caretaker lady. Before you go, keep in mind to use the save machine every now and again. Also come here and use the machine on the right to recharge your styler when you take damage. Once downstairs, class will end and you can go outside. Do so. Go to the training room to the right. Mr. Kaplan will go on about Team School again, so Ms. Claire has to ruin his fun. They will then give you special lessons on capturing and target clearing, so be sure to pay attention. Then go back outside. Oh no! The Bidoof are running arround like crazy and someone needs to stop them! Keith uses this as a chance to test your skills and challenges you to a capture race. All you have to do is capture four bidoofs and you lose automatically. Keith finally decides to learn your name and Rhythmi has one more place to show you. Head to the bottom right exit from the schoolyard to get to Ascension Square. Your new friends point out a statue called the pledge stone. Apparently if friends make a pledge here, it will come true! But now is time to go back inside and call it a day. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3A2. A Test of Courage That night, you and Keith/Rhythmi haven't gone to sleep yet. Talk to everyone, then Keith/Rhythmi. If you are a boy, notice that Isaac is not here. Where could he be? Anyway, time to head outside the dorm. You and Keith/Rhythmi see Rhythmi/Keith waiting for you outside, along with two other students. Apparently the four of them want you to proove that you're brave. They hid their stylers on the first floor and you need to find them. Then put them at the door in the back of the basement. Because it's dangerous to do this alone, Keith has to come too, even though that takes the fun out of it. Time to head downstairs. Wow, this place is sort of creepy at night. Keith freaks out at a Bidoof in the middle of the hallway. Go and capture it. Now head to the library. Some Electric type Pokemon have the recharge Map move. Tap one in your party to recover some styler energy. The different levels recover: Lv. 1: 5 energy Lv. 2: 10 energy Lv. 3: 20 energy Lv. 4: 30 energy Lv. 5: 50 energy So remember this if you are low on energy. Use bidoof's crush on one of the crates here, then move on and capture the Bidoof here. Use crush again on one of the crates and take the Styler on the table. Then leave the library. Next stop is the Staff room. Doesn't stay still, hmm? The only thing moving is the Pichu in the back, so capture it to get the second styler. Capture the Bidoof then go to Mr. Kincaid's room on the bottom right. Capture a Zubat while you're in here and take the Styler in the upper left. Now go to Ms. April's room. The only thing not there in the daytime is the crates, so smash the one by Ms. April's desk for the last Styler. Now it's time to go to the basement! Yay! First capture the Bidoof again, then head downstairs. Crush the crate and then use the Zubat to cut up the fence. Head over to the door to be attacked by four Ghastly! Yay! They aren't too tough but they do teleport every now and then. When you're done, Mr. Kincaid comes out and yells at you! Yay! Time to run for your life! Yay! Then you discover that Isaac is with him. Just what are they working on? Then your Little Sis sends a letter saying your parents might move nearby! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3A3. Outdoor Class Ms. April announces that today is outdoor class! A Ranger Will be coming for a Q&A session will the students. Keith has 38 Questions for him, so SOMEONE'S been looking forward to this. Follow Keith and Rhythmi to Ascension Square. The guests is Crawford, from nearby Vientown's Ranger Base, and his partner, Budew. He'll be answering your questions today. First he shows of his friend Pokemon, then we start the Q&A session of TERROR!!! The other students ask Crawfond all kinds of crazy questions, and Keith and Rhythmi confuse him for a fortune teller. The funniest part is when he talks about his mistakes! I laugh every time I think of him pouring juice on his styler... man he did some weird stuff! But then he gets sent off on a mission before you get to ask a question! I had a really good one to ask, too. Oh, well. Then the threesome makes a pledge that each of you will make your dreams come true. I hope that the pledge comes true! Then you get another letter saying that your folks will move out there! Yay! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3A4. The Search for the Missing Stylers Ms. April tells the class that Crawford's mission was sucessfull. Everybody's happy! Then she goes on and on about Operators while Keith hides offscreen. I dont think he's even in the room. Then you even get to try out a real ranger styler! Wow! Then laugh at the fact that you can hear Rhythmi without the styler. Then Mr. Kincaid comes in and asks to talk to Keith. Unfortunately, he's not here yet. Apparently a bunch of school stylers have disappeared! Who could have done this? Mr. Kincaid thinks it was Keith, but that can't be right. What would Keith want with a School Styler? He already has one. I guess it's up to you to find out. First check all the rooms of the school. Talk to everyone you meet. Notice that two Pichu and a Bidoof can ce found in the hallway now. When you go upstairs, you get a voicemail from Rhythmi telling you to go to where she is, so do so. When you get back to Rhythmi, Janice tells you that someone dropped a styler in the schoolyard. Rhythmi sees it in the very center. Go to the stairway due south of here for another styler. At the bottom of the stairs is Keith with some guy. Turs out the guy stole the stylers, and drops the rest. LOL, then a Slakoth falls on his head! Sadly, Rhythmi makes you take car of it. Slakoth is just as easy as any other pokemon you've found. Then hear the sad story of the styler theif. Ms. April kicks him out of here and you never see him again. Then Lamont and the teachers are happy thet you caught the theif. You also hear the word "Vatonage" for the first time. Finally you gat a letter saying your family's moving to Chicole Village. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3A5. One-Day internship It's finally time for your 1-day internship! Everyone's going to get experience on being a Ranger, Operator, or Mechanic. Rhythmi shows you a newspaper on the ranger union! It has pictures of places in the Union Hq! Cool! You and Keith only get to go to Vientown, but you go to the Union eventually. Time to get going. Head down to where you caught the thief and go through the gate. You see a man named Little Tim who is getting attacked by some Bidoof. You and Keith each have to capture one of them. It is slightly more difficut then thee ones you've been seeing, because it actually attacks you. Just capture it the same way you normally would. Then go through the gate and follow the path. -School Road- Follow the path until you get to a little girl. Then Ponte and Isaac show up and you find out that the girl is Isaac's sister, Melody. Then get moving again. Over the river and through the woods to the Ranger Base we go... -Vientown- Welcome to Vientown. this is where you spend the first part of the game being a Ranger. Inside the Ranger Base, you get a parcel that must never be on it's side or upside down. Take it to breeze hill, which is just past the beach to the left of here. Follow the beach to get to the enctance of breeze hill. Some old guy named MR. Woodward is talking to three pokemon. He asks you about partner pokemon. When he's done, follow the steps up to Breeze hill. At the top of Breeze Hill, you meet the other rangers. Crawford you already know. Barlow is the leader here. Luana is the other ranger. Elaine is the mechanic, who menjoys taking things apart more than fixing them. Did Barlow just say "lunch's here"? That's right, the parcel was just their picnic! You've been tricked! Ha ha! Talk to everybody, then try to leave. Some kid comes and says that a bunch of pokemon have gone wild! Time for your first mission! Get to the beach! *ROOKIE MISSION:SOOTHE THE POKEMON ON THE BEACH!* Go down on the beach. Choose from the three pokemon that haven't been captured yet: Munchlax, Pachirisu, and Starly. This is important because the one you pick becomes your first partner later on. They all behave similar to pokemon that you have captured before. When you're all done, everything's back to normal, and the mission is sucessful. However, the pokemon you captured does not want to leave at first. *MISSION CLEAR!* Back at the base, you and Keith get to go back to school now. Some old dude comes in and mentions something about a girl named Misery. Then outside, you see the pokemon you captured on the beach. It wants to see you but you can't have a partner yet. Time to head back to school. -School Road- Time to release the pokemon from the beach. After it leaves, Rhythmi(or Misery as the old dude(Prof. Hastings) calls her) Rhythmi catches up to you. Then you get a letter from Little Sis saying your family moved! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3A6. Graduation -Ranger School- Well, this is it. Today's the day you graduate from Ranger School. Go to Mr. Kincaid's room and talk to everyone. Then go around around to all the rooms and say your goodbyes, because you won't be coming back here for a while. When you're ready, SAVE YOUR GAME then go outside. When you go outside, the bell rings and Keith tells you to come in. Lamont congratulates everybody, then Mr. Kincaid announces the best student: Isaac. He gives a speech then Ms. April says that you represent the class. Don't worry, you don't have to give a speech. Instead, everyone gets attacked by two Tangrowth! Naturally, you and Keith have to capture them. ______________________________ |BOSS: TANGROWTH | |SUMMARY: Attacks with poison| |powder. | |STRATEGY: Tangrowth moves | |very slowly, if at all. Just| |draw loops when it is not | |attacking. | |____________________________| Good job. How did that get there anyway? Anyway, the graduation continues now. Congrats, YOU HAVE GRADUATED FROM THE RANGER SCHOOL! Then you get one last letter from Little Sis. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3B. Rank 0 3B1. Deliver Vien Tribune! -Chicole Village- Little Sis wakes you up in your family's house. Say hi to your family, then head outside and up to Chicole Path. -Chicole Path- Nothing too important here. Just follow the path -Vientown- Luana greets you when you get to Vientown. She then takes you to the Ranger Base. After a quick hello, go up to the door in the back to change into your Ranger Uniform. Then Barlow gives you a new Styler. This one can use Poke assists and Voicemail. Crawford then gives you a lesson on Poke assists. Then Barlow introduces everyone... again. Operators are in several places in the game to recharge Stylers. Then you get your first mission. *MISSION:DELIVER VIEN TRIBUNE!* This is a really easy mission. just deliver the newspaper to all the houses you can go to. Also deliver it to the houses in Chicole Village. Unfortunately, Mr. Woodward isn't home at the house in the southwest of Vientown. He's out on Nabiki Beach. When you find him, the Pokemon from the Rookie Mission is there, and becomes your first partner. Crawford then explains partner assists. Then go to Chicole Village. -Chicole Village- Just deliver the paper to the houses here. then go back to Vientown. Remember what the lady next door says about her son... -Vientown- Everything's all done for this mission. *MISSION CLEAR!* Now just talk to Barlow when you're ready to go to bed. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3B2. Investigate the Marine Cave! The next day, Barlow tells everyone that Mr. Woodward heard something in the Marine Cave on Nabiki Beach. He sends you and Crawford to check it out, so go do that. At the beach, Crawford hears something. He also teaches you about field damage. With that in mind, enter the cave to the left. *MISSION:INVESTIGATE THE MARINE CAVE!* -Marine Cave- Crawford hears that noise again, but if you have your sound on, you can hear it too. There's also this purple stuff at the edge of the screen. Your mission is to get rid of that. First capture the Zubat that attacks you. The strange thing is, it releases itself. Why is that? The answer lies ahead... First, leave the cave and capture the Tailow or Glameow on the ledge above you. Then re-enter the cave and cut down the fence with it. The weirdness gets weirder up ahead. A bunch of pokemon are running around a big red thing. It must be causing this! But what pokemon can break it. Maybe if you go in the doorway, you will find the answer. The strange machine is not affecting this area. Maybe the Pokemon you are looking for is here. Up to the left, a Gastrodon is trapped behind a boulder! There is a Nosepass that can break the rock in the back of this room. Capture it then capture the Gastrodon inside. Use it to break the strange machine. Everybody's happy now, so go back to the base. -Vientown- Turns out Big Bertha is the person Crawford called. Barlow then makes the mission officially finished at the base. *MISSION CLEAR!* Not only that, but YOU'VE BEEN PROMOTED TO RANGER RANK 1! POKE ASSIST BUG IS NOW USABLE! That's right. Each time your rank goes up, something good happens, like a new Poke Assist. Then Elaine shows you an Almia Times on Keith, who seems to be doing well. Then Little Tim comes in with ANOTHER mission... actually it's a Quest. Quests are assignments from normal folks. For a list of any Quests you can do, look at your Quest screen. Do this one, and others if you feel like it, then go to sleep. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3C. Rank 1 (Fight the Vien Forest Fire!) The next day, Vien Forest's on fire! You have to go with Luana to find Crawford, who's already there. Vien forest is just north of the Ranger Base. *MISSION: FIGHT THE VIEN FOREST FIRE!* -Vien Forest- You and Luana see Mimi, with only one Happiny. Looks like you have to get the others for her. The first Happiny is just left of where Mimi is, down the second path. Bring it to her to clear space in your party. Then take the first path you come to that does not involve a bridge. A burning log frightens 4 Budew that attack you! When you finish capturing them, the log is in your way still. Go back, taking the bridge this time, and capture a Wartortle in the next area. Luana sees a broken machine, like the one in Marine cave! It does not pose a threat, however. Just get back to the tree. Put out it's fire, and keep going. Head right to find a Happiny, so take it back to Mimi. Then go left. The last Happiny is here, along with 2 more burning logs. You only need to put out one, and there should be a Wartortle nearby. Go up past it and keep going. You finally get to Crawford, who tells you to find a Blastiose. He points off to the left, so head that way. Follow the path and capture the Blastoise. Back by the fire, there is a narrow path to the right. Have Blastoise use Rain Dance here. All done! *MISSION CLEAR!* Hey, who's that guy? Well, let's take to the base to ask him a few things. -Vientown- YOU'VE BEEN PROMOTED TO RANGER RANK 2! POKE ASSISTS FIRE AND FIGHTING ARE NOW USABLE! The weird guy from the forest gets tied up. Luana nicknames him "Ollie". Then it's time to patrol. Come back and go to bed whenever. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3D. Rank 2. 3D1. Destroy the Strange Machines! Okay, so the old dude from 3A5 is coming to visit, and you have to escort him to the ranger base. Go up toward Vien Forest and you immediately meet Prof. Hastings. He seems angry about how someone blocked the way and stuff. When he notices you heard everything he said, he introduces himself, and then you go back to the base. So he saw one of these things in Pueltown? It's just a mailbox? Or is it something bad? Why am I asking you? Oh well. To get to Pueltown, you need to go through Vien Forest. -Vien Forest- First go to where the fire was, and follow the path up. Continue in that direction to reach Lookout Ridge. Luana randomly shouts "TALK, OLLIE!", which must feel really good. Apparently, a tower is being built north of Pueltown. For now I will call it "big tower thing". Continue until you get to Pueltown. *MISSION: DESTROY THE STRANGE MACHINES!* -Pueltown- The first thing you should see is the 2 strange machines in this area. After Brook tells his side of the story, use the save machine in the ranger depot if you need to. Then leave Pueltown and capture the Bibarel in this area. Use it to destroy the Strange Machines(going back to capture it again, of course!). Then take the exit at the upper left. After getting the first one, you see some guys walking across the bridge above you. Who ane they? They mentioned a "Gigaremo". What is that? Why am I asking out loud again? In the next area, you see a Strange Machine, but it's green. This means you need the Field Move BURN 2 to destroy it. Luckily, there was a Growlithe with this move in the previous area. Use one of those to destroy the 2 strange machines in this area. Those guys see you, and then run off. Did they say "Gigaremo"? Is that what those things are called? Cross the newly opened path to the right side of Pueltown. Capture an Elekid on the bridge. It has the Field Move ELECTRIFY 2, which destroys blue Strange Machines, or Gigaremos, or whatever. You'll see these in the next area. Also have one open the 2 gates in Pueltown. In the next area, you hear a girl scream! It's Melody, Isaac's little sister! Brook jumps over the Pokemon surrounding her, but now you have to do something. Open the gate with an Elekid, then go find a Growlithe and another Elekid to get the Gigaremos in this area. Everybody's free, and it's time to go to Puel Harbor in the lower right. After going up a bit, you finally corner those guys, with 3 more guys. And a yellow Gigaremo! They must be behind all this! Time to stop them! Team Dim Sun, you say? That's a terrible name. Oh, well. They use the Gigaremo to have Pokemon attack you. The first Minion has 4 Rattata. They then send a Toxicroak to fight you! Oh no! ______________________________ |BOSS: TOXICROAK | |SUMMARY: Jumps around and | |attacks by spitting poison | |clouds or sludge piles. It | |also pretends to attack. | |STRATEGY: Toxicroak is very | |annoying. I reccomend | |drawing loops before it | |attacks. | |____________________________| Darn. They got away. Brook jumps in the ocean to try and catch him. The guy means well, but... Oh well. Time to go back to the base. There are some new quests, so do those if you feel like it. -Vientown- *MISSION CLEAR!* Hastings and Elaine have dismantled the Gigamori... ohhh, so it's Gigaremo? Anyway, now you can do that new quest, or go to sleep, your choice. Elaine and Hastings are still dismantling the Gigarama... Gigaremo? Anyway, Big Bertha brought some milk pudding. Ollie even gets to have some. He likes it, I think. It even makes him spill everything he knows. That must be good pudding. So the fire was made from Gigaremo fuel? Anyway, now untie Ollie so he can wipe away his tears. Talk to him, then you and Luana untie the rope, and Ollie's free to go. Now go patrol again, but first Luana shows you another Almia Times, this time on Pueltown. Ollie comes out to ank you something. He wants you to go with him to his mo-- ..friend. His "friend" is the lady next door in Chicole Village! Who would have thought that? Well, she did mention having a son, so go to Chicole Village. -Chicole Village- There's a hat ghost on Partner Farm! Go to the farm south of your house first. The hat ghost is actually a Kricketot! Time to capture it! Be sure to watch out for those music notes. Kricketot seems to like you now! KRICKETOT JOINED AS A PARTNER POKEMON! But you can only have one partner with you. Your other partner, and any new ones, will come here to Partner Farm. NOW It's time for Ollie's errand. Hope I didn't give away too much. Now Kricketot is ready to go with you! Take care of a Quest or two, then go back to the Ranger Base and call it a day. When you do, Hastings notices a black rock inside the Gigaremo. Hastings will have the research staff examine this discovery at the Union. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3D2. Recover a Key From Sharpedo! -Vientown- The next morning Luana shows you an Almia Times on Top Rangers Sven and Wendy. It also has a pic of the next type of styler, the Fine Styler. Then you get a Voicemail from Barlow telling you to meet him in Pueltown. Head there right away. -Pueltown- Barlow will meet you at the entrance to Pueltown. He can't get to the Union because Norward Bridge is open. Turns out Brook is at the harbor. When you talk to him, you discover he has dropped the key for Norward Bridge in the Ocean when following Team Dim Sun! Barlow gives you a Micro Aqualung for the job. Here's the thing. Land Pokemon can't go in the Ocean, and Sea Pokemon can't go on land, so your Partner can't even come. Just let Brook take care of things for getting a boat. Then you jump into the sea for the first time. -Puel Sea- See that shiny thing? That's what you're looking for. A Sharpedo picks it up and swims off! Except for one path blocked by small rocks. A Finneon can break this. Then you see Sharpedo swim by. Capure the Staryu here and go back to the last area. Destroy the Wood Block to the right. Then enter the next area. By the way, a Chinchou can recharge your styler underwater. You need another Staryu to destroy the Wood Block in the lower right. Barlow Voicemails to tell you to use a Mantine to swim around underwater. Capture one on this path and move on. Approach the canyon below you, then touch mantine to use swim. When you reach the end of the area, go up in the next one. Then go left and down the current. Go right, then get off Mantine at the ledge. In this next area, you need to catch up to Sharpedo before capturing it. How, you ask? Use the currents! When you finally catch up, keep in mind that it charges four times in a row. He wants to give you a tour of his workplace, Altru inc! Cool! It's just north of here. Go to that area, then enter the big building of awesomeness. That thing up there is Altru tower, which I have no idea what it is. -Altru Building- First, Isaac shows you the exhibits. Thern Altru's three presidents, Doyle, Brighton, and Blake Hall. There's Blake now! He seems nice but that Wheeler guy creeps me out. Sadly, you can't see the rest of the building. Time to go! -Altru Park- Outside, you get a Voicemail from Barlow. He wants you to bring a pokemon with SOAK 2 to the Ranger Union. Murph will lead you there, so go back to the park. Union Road is on the left path from the park, so go that way. -Union Road- Just follow the path for now. You can't take the upper path in the second part yet, so keep going. -Ranger Union- Enter the building. The Union is much bigger than the Vientown Ranger Base, that's for sure.
