Walkthrough - Wifi WalkthroughConnecting to Wi-Fi with Pokemon Soul Silver (or HG) ------------------------------------------------------------ ***About Wi-Fi*** WiFi stands for Wireless Fidelity. It is obviously wireless so, you don't need any cables. For WiFi, you need a router. This is what one looks like http://goo.gl/7SL5i . Or if you can't get WiFi there are always WiFi Hotspots. Certain places provide WiFi for free like Airports, Mcdonalds, Paneras, Borders, Hotels and other places. ------------------------------------------------------------ ***Wi-Fi Connection*** ~11 easy Steps!!! 1 - For Soul Silver, go to the main page that is there on start up The place where it has "Continue", "New Game" and so on. 2 - Scroll down and you'll see "NINTENDO WI-FI CONNECTION SETTINGS". Click it. 3 - You'll then see "Nintendo Wi-fi Connection Settings" (The big blue thing). Click that. 4 - You'll see three squares (Connection 1, 2, and 3). Select "Connection 1". You can set up the other two connections later. 5 - Once you do that select "Search for an Access Point". *If this doesn't work, see numbers 12 through 15 It will start searching. Depending where you are there might not be any Networks. If you are near by a Wireless Router or near a Wi-Fi Hotspot you will probably see a selection of Networks. 6 - Select a Network. If you have a wireless router it will have a Name. Depending on your Router, it may be labeled by the company (Verizon Network, Comcast, Linksys, Cisco, etc.) or it may be called by your family name (ask a Parent). 7 - Type in your Password. A Network with an Unlocked lock means it is not password protected. A Network with a locked lock next to it means that it has a password. WEP is another word for password. If the network you are choosing has a password, type it in the WEP text box. 8 - Save and Test connection. (Click save and Click test) So after that it will come back and say if it is a working connection or not. If it comes back with an Error message go to the Nintendo website and type in the Error code to see why your connection has failed. (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/ds/index.jsp) 9 - Hit the "B" button. If it is a successful connection then it will save it automatically. When you have a successful connection press "B". You will then be back at the start up page. 10 - Click continue and resume your game. 11 - You are good to go! You can Trade, Battle, Play in the Plaza, etc. Once you are in the Game you can either fly to Goldenrod City to go to the Global Terminal (where you can trade with people from all around the world) or you can simple enter any Pokemon Center to trade with your friends on your Pal Pad. Friends on your Pal Pad = Your Wireless and Wi-Fi friends ------- Having trouble? Try the Manual Setup *12 - Manual Setup If you cannot find the specific Network you are looking for, you are either out of the router's range or the network is hidden. For the Manual Setup make sure you have done numbers 1 through 4 on this page. From there you will see 3 options. "Search for an Access Point" "AOSS" "Manual Setup" *13 - Click "Manual Setup" *14 - Fill out the form SSID= This is what the Network you are looking for is called. Type in the name of your network here. WEP= This is where your password goes (if you have one). Auto-Obtain IP Address= Just click Yes Auto-Obtain DNS= Click Yes For the "IP Address", "Subnet Mask", "Gateway", "Primary DNS", "Secondary DNS" do not edit (I really do not know what to exactly do with these... so leave them blank). *15 - Continue with number 8 ( back up there ^ ) ------------------------------------------------------------ ***The Pal Pad*** Your Pal Pad can be found in your Key Items Pocket. Once you find the pal pad, open it up by selecting "Use". Here you can look at your Friend Roster (aka Friend List), register your friend's Friend Codes, and look up your own Friend Code (if you haven't registered your own Friend Code yet then I think it will ask you to). ------------------------------------------------------------ ***Friend Codes (FCs)*** You must have a Friend Code (an FC) to interact with other people through Wi-Fi. To find your Friend Code go to your Pal Pad in your Key Items Pocket. Once you and your Friend (or Friends) exchange FCs then you will be able to trade pokemon, battle, play games, and more without (in the real world) being in the same room. You can submit your friend's FC in your Pal Pad. From there on out, all you have to do is discuss a certain time to meet with your Friend and be in one of the downstair rooms of the Pokemon Center. ------------------------------------------------------------ ***Use Wi-FI*** In the Game you can use the Global Terminal or go to a Pokemon Center to use Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is also used (i think) in the Battle Tower (i haven't tried it yet). The Global Terminal is in Goldenrod City (in the far west). You can Trade Pokemon with people all around the world here and also look up Pokemon world records. Downstairs in the Pokemon Center: Talk to the Girl in front of the first door to enter the Wi-Fi Plaza. (You can play games, make high scores, and meet new people here.) Talk to the Girl who is in front of the second door to Trade, Chat, Battle or whatever with your personal friends on your Pal Pad. ------------------------------------------------------------ Any Questions? You go to a Pokemon center, and walk downstairs. Talk to the lady behind the second door and she will ask you to Save the Game and you'll say Yes. She'll lead you into the room and then it will ask you to start up Wi-Fi. Say Yes. If you connect successfully you'll end up in the room. Wait for you friend to join you and then just Battle.
Here's an easy YouTube video that sums up what I wrote.
