As the guy said above, you must step on the type panel which you think is effective
against the type on the curtain. While doing that, you have to battle two mandatory
trainers.

  Waitress Chiharu
  - Minezumi - Level 10
  - Choroneko - Level 10

After doing that, you meet the three gym leaders.
Before I talk about them, I'll show you my team at this point.

The gym leaders are Dento, Paddo, and Koon. Dento specializes in Grass Types, Paddo in
Fire, and Koon in Water Types.
Depending on the starter you chose in the beginning will determine which Gym Leader you'll
battle. You'll battle Dento if you chose Mijumaru. If you chose Pokabu, you'll battle
Koon. If you chose Tsutaja, you'll battle Paddo.

Bite ~ Dark ~ The foe is bitten with viciously sharp fangs. It may make the target flinch.
 Summary: 
Now, each of the Gym Leaders own this doggie. After training one myself, you'll find that
it has high attack. It's best to use a Pokemon with a good defense. You should use your
starter against this Pokemon because of the next Pokemon the Gym Leader you're facing will
send out.

Vine Whip ~ Grass ~ The foe is struck with slender, whiplike vines to inflict damage.
 Summary: 
Holy crap! this Pokemon is probably the same level as yours at this point of the game.
With it's very high attack, it's a threat to your starter. Use the secondary or third
Pokemon that you own to take it down.

It's the same concept as Dento's monkey. Use the secondary or third Pokemon that you own
to take it down.

Water Gun ~ Water ~ The foe is blasted with a forceful shot of water.
 Summary: 
It's the same concept as Dento's and Paddo's monkey. Use the secondary or third Pokemon
that you own to take it down.

After you defeat one of the three, you will earn the Trio Badge and get TM83 AND the
ability to use HM01 Cut! On to Shippou City!
