I am at the second river crossing with the 3 leavers and platforms over the river but cannot figure out how to get on to the crate that keeps p***ing overhead to get to the same level as the platforms to cross the river. What am I missing?

I am stuck i can't get past the long jump, it is right near the end of the level there is a bird flying up and down there is a ledge below but even from there i can't make the jump there are no boxes near by for Pan to pick up either. Please help!!
