to get the fishing rod you need to go to Bannan Island in the north west corner of the map
and talk to the guy in the house at the top he will say that he has spent his life looking
for mermaids. to get the fishing pole go outside of his house and kill every single
monster on that side of the island the mermaid will appear hit her with your boomerang(if
you get too close she will run away) and she will talk to you tell her about the guy and
she will say she is going to talk to him. Then go talk to the guy
