Cost: 800 wood and 500 gold Effect: +2 range for magonels, onagers and siege onagers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. General Strategies ---------------------- This section gives you general strategies to play as, against and with the Koreans. This is useful in Random Games and other Scenarios where you use the Koreans. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- IVA. Playing As --------------- With alot of defensive bonuses, such as free tower upgrades, Korean players shouldn't have any problems defending their bases. These advantages can also be used offensivly, by placing towers and castles near enemy bases, to prevent any movement outside of the base. Offensivly, Koreans don't really excel in any area. With missing technologies of Bloodlines and Parthian Tactics, the Koreans aren't the strongest cavalry civilization is the Conquerors. But the are rather good in the siege area, with thier unique technology Shinkichon. By improving the range of magonels, onagers and siege onagers, the Koreans shouldn't really have any problems besieging an enemy base. Plus, the Koreans have access to gun poweder, so Hand Cannoneers and Bombard Cannons can really help out. The unique units of the Koreans can be a real help in the heat of battle. The War Wagon and Elite War Wagon should be used to weaken enemy infantry while Pikemen and Halberdiers hold of the cavalry. Protect the War Wagon form archers and towers. Improve the War Wagon with all available archery and missile upgrades. The second Korean unique unit, the Turtle Ship and Elite Turtle Ship, is almost like a close-range cannon galley, but with greater power and armor. Be aware, however, that the Turtle Ships don't come cheap. Repaire them whenever you can with shoreline villagers. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- IVB. Playing Against -------------------- As always, you should scout the Korean base early and disrupt any sources of stone which the Koreans are using to disrupt a posible tower rush. If the Koreans fail to produce anti-cavalry units, attack with cavalry to lay waste to War Wagons, mangonels, infantry and such. On water maps, produce fire ships and fast-fire ship in order to counter the Korean Turtle Ships. Also keep in mind that Turtle Ships are expensive, so a large Korean navy proabably means a weak army. So with that in mind, go for a large attack by land and just produce a fake navy to lure the Koreans from their bases. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- IVC. Playing with in a Team --------------------------- The Celts are a great team to play with. With the combination of the Korean and Celtic unique technologies, magonels produce and fire quicker plus they get +2 range. On water maps, produce Turtle Ships with your ally producing support ships such as Galleons and Cannon Galleons, plus Fire Ships. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Noryang Point Walkthrough ---------------------------- In The Conquerors, the Koreans don't have their own campaign. They do, however, have a Scenario which is available in the Battles of the Conquerors "Campaign". All of the scenarios are available from the beginning. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Scenario Information -------------------- Initial Objectives: Defeand Korea from the Japanese (optional) Prevent the Japanese from destroying the Korean wonder Other civilizations: Their Stance Your Stance Japanese Navy Enemy Enemy Japanese Raiders Enemy Enemy Chinese Ally Ally Admiral Yi Sun Shin Ally Ally Walkthrough ----------- As you start this mission, your wonder, located in the NE section of the Korean city, will come under attack from the Japanese Navy, located at the beginning in the SW. The attackers include Galleons, Elite Cannon Galleons and Fast Fire Ships. Saving the wonder can be difficult, but remember, it is not mission critical. Group your ships into an attack group (use Ctrl + a number key) and set course for the Japanese attack group. If you have time, order Castles and Towers to fire on specific ships. As your attack group nears, attack the Fire Ships, which are the most dangerous. Make the attack group fire on specific ships to sink them and move on to the next ship. If the wonder is destroyed, the Japanese ships moves South toward the Korean docks. Follow the enemy ships and destroy all of them. Then another Japanese attack group will attack the Korean docks. Eliminate these ships as you did with the other group. Research Galleons (you could have started this earlier) start producing ships at all of the docks. Building a large navy can be expensive, so keep wood collection at a high pace. 15 villagers should be pretty adequate. If you have villagers to spare, assign them to chop wood. Research the two-handed saw to increase the wood gathering speed. Research all technologies that can be of any help to Galleons. Posistion a villager at the docks to rapair any damaged ships to make sure that you don't waste any resources thet could be use towards a better end. Keep scouting the Korean shore line to make sure that no Japanese ships are entering your waters. If a ship is spotted, move the navy to destroy it. Create about 15-20 ships and them move on to reinforcing defenses against a ground attack by the Japanese Raiders. Rapair the walls and towers around the NE section of the Korean base. Mine stone and build towers in the NW section of your base. Research Ballistics and Bombard Towers to increase defense strength. Find Admiral Yi and learn of his secret weapon. After a while, you'll recive a message about Admiral Yi. You can't reach the Admiral by land, so don't bother looking. To reach Yi, you must commander a transport located in the Japanese Raiders base. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI.
